Sleepy Hollow's Hero Missing In Action

A poem reflecting what would have happened if the movie Sleepy Hollow ended the way the book did, with Brom alive, of course.

I always loved the ending of the book. Especially when I was younger, it was so mysterious. But I figured that if the movie had that same ending it would give about a much different feeling then the book had.

What happened to Ichabod Crane

He is gone, but without a grave

What happened to that dubious man

Did all go according to his plan

Or perhaps he ran away

And cowered out that gruesome day

Did he summon the Horseman back to hell

Or is the Horseman alive and the Hollow still unwell

What happened there that ghastly day

Are more to fall under the Hessian's blade

Is the Western Woods still a haunted place

What happened here no one can say

Out of this all we are gather here

In perplexity, heartache, and fear

Perhaps the only happy ending

Is Brom and Katrina's wedding

But the tears on Katrina's wedding day

Can not be determined, and no one can say

Whether they are of joy or of pain

That her true love has gone away
