Hyuga Hinata and Gaara of the Desert. A strange pair, you would think if you knew them. The beautiful pearl eyed girl and the demon vessel of Shukaku. People probably gave them those titles upon sight. Neither of them thought about titles, or about the strange looks they would get. Hinata held his hand, and Gaara didn't pull away. She was one of the only people he would allow to contact him physically. She pulled him along quietly; heading to her training grounds. There they lay, staring at the stars, cheek to cheek; the top of their heads touching the others shoulder.

"Look, Gaara. The little dipper," Hinata said. He stared at the cluster of stars she pointed at.

"Why point out the little dipper when the big one is in view?" he asked.

"That's what everyone does, pointing out the dominant. I don't want to be a part of everybody," she replied, just above a whisper. She felt his head nod slightly. Hinata sat up and moved closer to her newfound companion. They now lay parallel, side to side. She linked their fingers, blushing slightly. "Make a wish," she whispered, seeing a shooting star. She closed her eyes, and made a wish herself.

"Do you want to know my wish?" he asked.

"If you tell me it won't come true," she replied.

"It already has," he told her. "I wished that someone understood me."

"Who understands you?"

"You do."

"Oh."

"Yeah." Hinata grinned at their lack of things to say. She decided to start her own conversation. She stood, and he followed suit. She took his hand in hers and placed it below her left breast.

"That's where the heart is," she whispered.

"Hnn. I don't have a heart," he retorted, almost sounding bitter. Hinata rested her head on his chest.

"Yes you do. I can hear it," she replied. "I can feel it too." She attempted to pull back, but found herself captured in an embrace. She slid one arm around his waist, and rested a hand on his shoulder. Although they remained silent, a mutual bond formed, along with new feelings. They weren't friends, far from lovers, but they were steadily crossing the line.

A.N: I don't know what possessed me to write this, but I like GaaHina, and the idea is cute. Oh, and I don't own anything. Forgot the disclaimer.
