Sleeping Beauty
Chapter Two
Glancing back at Aphrodite, whose eyes still held fear behind them, Percy spoke.
"What did you do?"
Aphrodite looked down for a moment before looking back at Percy. Normally she would shrug off such a question from a demigod, but with everything going on, she knew she had to answer.
"I wanted to speed up Chiron and Selene's relationship so…" Aphrodite trailed off.
"So?" Percy repeated, encouraging the goddess to continue.
"I put Selene asleep with a spell, then I hid when I heard some footsteps. I thought it was some hybrids from Camp Half Blood. But it was two men in black instead. They took Selene away, and uh, here we are."
"Human?" Percy asked.
"Yes,"
"No wonder Zeus is angry," Percy said, followed by a sigh. "You sure made a mess this time."
"I know…. I know," Aphrodite said, kicking at the ground.
Sighing, Percy stared at his father. His eyes gave off a cerulean glow, which caused Poseidon to tilt his head. He wasn't sure what his son was thinking, but he had a feeling he was up to something. Backing away, Poseidon let go of his trident as it transformed into a puddle .
Pressing the bottom of his blade, Percy's sword morphed back into a pen. His cerulean bubble also diminished. Placing his pen back into his pocket, Percy sighed and shook his head. He glanced back at Aphrodite, then to his father. There was only one way to take care of this, he thought, and there was no backing out once he said it.
"What's on your mind, Percy?" Poseidon asked.
"If Selene is found, will Zeus calm down?" Percy asked.
"If she is found and the repercussions of her capture are dealt it, then yes, my brother will, as you say, chill."
Percy smiled at hearing his father say a slang that was new, but he sighed for he knew what this meant.
"Okay, I'll help Aphrodite get Selene back and clean up any problems this caused," Percy said.
"You don't have to do this," Poseidon said.
Percy took another long deep breath as he took a step forward, his eyes remained fixed on his father.
"This is the only way to fix this peacefully." No offense, but if you or Zeus get involved, there could be more repercussions that I don't think anyone can repair."
"Hm, I understand. Take care, son," Poseidon said, before looking at Aphrodite. "You… keep out of trouble, understand?"
"…Yes" Aphrodite said, unable to look at Poseidon in the eyes.
Percy nodded to his father as he disappeared. After that, he looked at Aphrodite, who looked back at him.
"Now that's over, it's time for the hard part," Percy said.
"And what's that?" Aphrodite asked.
"Telling Chiron what you have done,"
"Oh… crap," Aphrodite said, hanging her head low.
Elsewhere, Two men in black wearing sunglasses arrived at a large house surrounded by a metal fence.
"Do you think the boss will forgive us, Thomas?" Jake asked.
"Of course, when we bring him her, he will even forget we ever lost the money." Jake said.
Rolling down the window, Jake pressed his key card against the keypad, and the gate opened. Swallowing hard, Jake continued on through the gate.
Inside the house, standing in the living room, looking through a large window with a glass of wine in his hand, Seth Dunn sighed. It's been two years since he's taken over Dunn's he's got to show for it, a debt so high it could cover the sky. He sent two of his men to track down a guy who owed him, hoping to lessen some of this burden.
"Mr. Dunn!" both men shouted.
Seth turned to see Thomas and Jake, but no money pouch in hand. But when he looked to the couch, his eyes widen for lying there was a woman with skin as pale as the moon and long sliver hair wearing a white silk dress. He wasn't sure if he was seeing right, but it also looked as if this woman was giving off a silvery pale white light.
"Who is this woman?" Seth asked.
"We found her in the woods when we lost the guy who had the money. She was just lying there asleep." Jake said.
"You lost the money and brought me a girl. How is this going to help!?" Seth shouted.
"Sorry, boss," Jake and Thomas said in unison before bowing.
"Leave, I need to think." Seth said, waving his hand.
Jake and Thomas bowed once more before running out of the living room. Seth looked back down at the mystery woman on his couch. The glow she gave off was truly captivating, so much so that he found himself moving towards her. It was as if his feet had a mind of its own. Setting down his glass, he raised his hand. He was about to touch her arm when an unfamiliar voice stopped him.
"She is a beauty, and her scent is out of his world." A voice said.
Turning around, Seth laid eyes on a middle age man with short black slick back hair with a pair reddish black eyes. He wore a simple black and white pinstripe suit with his hand on a cane that had a white skull on the top.
"Who are you, and how did you get in here?" Seth asked, as he moved over toward the wall where a big red button was.
"I am known as Mr. C. How I got here is not important." Mr C. said. "What if I said that this woman could make all your debt disappear within a week's time?"
"I would say I am intrigued care to explain?" Seth asked.
"Then sit down and relax, for we have a lot to talk about." Mr. C said, followed by a smirk.
