CHAPTER 4:
The next day at about 4 p.m., Chloe came to Alice and Ken's house, prepared to spend the day teaching Grace everything she knew about cat care. Chloe knocked on the door to Grace's bedroom and was given the okay to enter. When Chloe entered Grace's room, she was immediately greeted by the little kitten running up to her; she bent down and scratched Miley's head. Miley tried to playfully swat the necklace around Chloe's neck. Chloe noticed and was glad Miley didn't use her claws to try and grab the necklace. Chloe looked around the room and saw food dishes and a litter pan set up, which was a good start. Grace had a cat toy and was playing with Miley. Chloe sat next to her.
"Hey, Grace. How was school today?" Chloe asked.
"It was great. I got to tell my classmates all about my new pet kitten," Grace explained. "As it turns out, three of my friends also have cats."
"That's cool. Speaking of which, I wanted to give you this: It's an awesome book that has everything there is to know about cats," Chloe pointed out, handing Grace the book.
"Thank you very much," Grace said.
"Of course. Let me know how you like it, and what kind of facts you find interesting. I see you have the basics set up. Remember, you have to scoop her pan every day and maybe have Mom and Dad put it in the laundry room or the garage. Make sure she always has food and water as well," Chloe instructed Grace.
"Don't worry, I will," Grace assured her.
"Good. What do you say we begin going over this book right now?" Chloe suggested.
"Okay," Grace said as she opened the book. She skipped through the basic steps she already knew.
"Wow, can cats really smell stuff that we can't?" Grace asked.
"Yeah, they have what's called a Jacobson organ at the roof of their mouth that allows them to smell stuff in the air that people wouldn't be able to," Chloe explained.
"Cool, so that could come in handy, huh?" Grace said.
"It sure can," Chloe told her.
There sure was a lot Grace found interesting to learn about cats, and she was ready to learn all she could.
Back in Brooklyn, Amy and Bumper had just finished getting their daughter's bedroom ready for her arrival.
"Well, needless to say, looks like we're all ready to go for when our little Star makes her appearance," Bumper said, satisfied.
"You said it. Just think, back when I moved in here, this was Chloe's room," Amy remembered.
"Now that she's enjoying life with Chicago and her daughter, it gave us a chance to redesign the room for our daughter," Bumper added.
The walls of the room were painted a traditional pink, and it had Disney Princess plushies for decor. They were hoping their little girl would like it because they would do whatever it takes to make their daughter happy.
