Perhaps I was being too hasty with the little bastards.
A gun... is a little much.
As cathartic it would be to pop the little bastards with a revolver there's one large issue with a gun.
They make noise.
All it takes is one pokemon ranger to hear the noise and suddenly I'm a 'monster' who kills 'innocent pokemon for no reason'. Or I just so happen to wake up the area's apex pokemon from its nap and it goes on a warpath... or hell, maybe this forest is the location of a fucking legendary and I doom the entirety of Unova to a natural disaster as the bullet skips off a nearby rock and shoots an errant Tornadus in the shin.
I need to be subtle in my attempt to murder them violently. Like a crossbow... or poison... or a crossbow with bolts tipped with poison.
Wait a minute... that sort of gives me an idea.
Animals have senses far surpassing that of humans, right? Pokemon should be no exception. In fact, they should have even greater senses.
I have a substance that nearly causes me to vomit just by smelling it, and it doesn't hurt pokemon... in fact, it heals them.
If I get an air pistol... or some form of paintball gun filled with my potion extract, I could totally fight them off... and the best part is, who gives a FUCK what the pokemon ranger says! It heals wounds instead of causing them!
And if they get mauled to death by another Pokémon after getting the fifteen percent chance to be nauseous for an hour, well, they reap what they sow. They shouldn't have been such aggressive little bastards.
I let out a long breath as I fold my arms behind my head.
Ah well, I don't really need to even worry about it yet.
I've still got a couple of days to babysit my alchemical table.
Damn. I need a to do list.
I spin the wheeled chair I am sat in back to my computer and open a notepad, typing a title at the top of it. "Hrn. 'To-Do List sounds sort of lame"
"Ah! Here we go. Villainous Ventures. I like the sound of that."
Villainous Ventures:
1:
The blank spot after the one glares at me as I try to think about my goals objectively. Technically speaking, I could just put 'gene splicing' there and be done with it, but I feel as if there are MORE things I could do beforehand.
I tap my finger on the desk and tilt my head slightly.
1-A: Perfect Alchemy in order to get money
1-B: Get more alchemy equipment so I can craft more potions an hour.
2: Buy ability to manipulate DNA.
3: Do some whacky stuff with the newfound ability to manipulate genes. Like, making a perfect pokemon team, or artificially increasing the size of oran berries to improve my potion operations.
4: Figure out how to make it so I'm not as squishy. It'd be a shame if I made a team of gods and I got taken out by a stray rock throw. Look into some sort of captain America super soldier serum.
5: Make some form of team rocket-esque group to do my bidding.
6: Combine Kyu, Zek, and Reshi back into the 'Original Dragon'.
This'll do for overarching goals.
For more immediate goals I need to make that one paintball gun and fill a bunch of spheres with my potion extract.
Plus, research is always welcome. I need to determine just what I need for my new team.
A dragon type, certainly, but those are always ornery. I'll be forced to figure out which is tame... or how to tame the vicious ones.
I've got time. Four years to perfect my craft. Four years to chill out and plot.
I can't wait until I get a strong beasty of my own.
"Well, I ran out." I sigh as I quietly clip a bottle full of small purple berry-like objects into a pistol, it slides into place with a satisfying click, the condensed air in the handle is full, and the miniature potions are in spheres that break easy enough.
"Loads pistol with malicious intent." I humorously hum to myself as I sit the now loaded gun upon the table.
Crafting potions for the past four or so days has completed my alchemy upgrade quest and granted another.
Alchemy Upgrade Quest 3:
Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and cauldron bubble. Craft a potion to sooth my struggles.
Wait what was going on? Why are there a bunch of homunculi running around?
Remember to take breaks! Those alchemical fumes could get to you!
Objective: Craft 100 Common Elixers: 27/100 [ ]
Reward
'Alchemy' Skill is improved to the next level of mastery
And with the previous quest's completion... I have gained yet another level of mastery.
Alchemy: (Apprentice) {Common}
You've stepped into a brand-new world of wonder... alchemical creation! The power of life itself rests in your palms... now if only you could remove those pesky side effects.
You know how to create Common 'Worldly Alchemical Concoctions'.
Alchemical concoctions are 15% more powerful than normal.
Sadly, it wasn't a double with each level of mastery... it was a simple five percent.
I sigh and shake my head. "Ah well."
I rise from the desk, grabbing my backpack and slinging it over my shoulder. I take my air pistol in the other hand and nod slowly.
"Let's do this."
I slip the last berry I plan to take into the backpack and zip it up, turning away from the bush.
I slowly and calmly walk forwards, clenching my gun in one hand.
I look up to see four small brown creatures, seemingly laughing as they stand in my path, their red eyes boring into my own, sat on their haunches as they cross their arms.
I lift my gun and promptly shoot the foremost one in the face as it opens its mouth to utter some sort of variant of 'Patrat'.
The paintball splatters against its large buck teeth as it flinches back in shock.
I fire thrice more, pelting the surrounding area with potion elixir.
Two manage to use quick attack to get out of the way, but a second gets struck in the cheek.
Those who were hit snarl out shouts of rage, but... suddenly the first falls onto the ground and begins rolling letting out a sickened and horrified shriek of "PATRAT! RAT RAT! PATRAPAT!"
The other one covers its nose and also begins rolling around on the ground.
I punt a third, causing it to fly through the air like a football, where it smashes into a tree a short distance away.
The final patrat clutches onto my leg, mouth opening wide.
I shoot about four pellets into its mouth from point blank, it begins choking as the bullets paint the back of its mouth a dark purple, the dark type energy of its bite fading as it rolls around on the ground.
The final untainted patrat, injured from my punt looks around cautiously, its friends are all down, screaming and throwing up, I calmly walk forwards, making sure that my attention is on all four of them. "Allow me to make myself perfectly clear, Patrat... I am showing incredible restraint and mercy right now... if you ever cause trouble for me again there is no god on this green earth that will save you when I come to kill you all."
"R-Rat." "P-Patrat!" The one patrat who isn't writhing in pain flinches as I calmly walk forwards, passing it by.
"Remember." I hiss. "I can kill you whenever I want. Do not test me because you will not like me when I'm angry."
Then, after leaving the sight of the sole patrat, I run as fast as I can back to my hidey hole.
"PAHAHAHAHAH!" I cackle as I rest back in my home. "WHAT A BUNCH OF FUCKING IDIOTS!"
I absolutely adored the pained look they had after I exacted my swift revenge. But... they won't be as dumb next time... next time they will simply jump me.
Maybe I should have just executed them all and been done with it.
If they cause issues again, I'll be certain to do that, but as it is right now, I see no real need to frivolously antagonize a bunch of super rodents. If I get unlucky, they might evolve from the stress... patrat are one thing, I'm certain that I couldn't handle a watchog.
I frown suddenly and go over to my computer, typing in a simple thing for future me to make use of.
Super Soldier Serum:
A mix of chemicals originally devised from numerous drugs and steroids, eventually the distasteful side effects bled out, leaving only a simple flaw that increases the user's main personality trait. Evil will become eviler, unhinged more unhinged. Good becomes better. This serum requires a specially made machine to apply it, thus it is fairly useless on its own, even then this application requires others and is incredibly painful... you COULD go through the extremely agonizing process of slowly injecting the right amount into each of the core muscle groups with a syringe. That, however, is torturous and has an incredible chance of failure.
Cost per dose: 750,000 Poke
"…"
"Huh..."
Heart Shaped Herb:
A strange plant that has absorbed the unique radiation of vibranium, when consumed it grants the consumer increased strength, speed, durability, stamina, agility, reflexes, and instincts. The use of this herb may also spiritually awaken whoever partakes in it, allowing greater control of the energies of life itself. There are no side effects to this enhancement.
Cost per dose: 25,000,000 Poke
"Hn." I lowly hum as I cup my chin.
I might be able to grow more heart shaped herbs... provided I have a farm plot with an adequate amount of vibranium, of course.
I might just fuck around and see if I can make my own superhuman sauce with what I've got in this universe... it might be possible.
I let out a quiet gasp as, on the topic of Marvel, a thought smashes into my head.
"Extremis Charizard."
Extremis (Imperfect):
A type of nanotechnology which awakens the true bioelectrical potential of the human body. Granting the user increased strength, durability, speed, the ability to regenerate from almost any wound in a matter of moments, and the ability to generate extreme amounts of heat through a complex metabolic process, with temperatures of up to several thousand degrees Celsius. The downside of this serum is that you have the consciously regulate your heat, failure can result in some... Explosive... results.
Cost per dose: 500,000 Poke
The perfected variant costs ten times the amount.
One phrase has slightly crushed my dreams... 'The potential in the human body'.
"Ah well... while I could probably figure out some way to get it to work on Pokémon, I think I had just better use a perfected version on myself."
This sort of crushes most of my marvel superhero dreams due to the sheer price... but to be honest, i don't see Captain America doing too well against the things that pokemon has to offer. Most powerful final stage evolutions could probably clean his clock, like Alakazam or Machamp.
He'd probably be able to tangle with the best of the Raticate and Watchog, though.
Out of all of these serums and strength boosters...
Perfected Extremis just can't be beat. I'll be a fire type trainer... LITERALLY! Plus being able to regrow arms when you are dealing with dragons, living magma, and sentient swords would certainly be invaluable.
I might dabble in heart shaped herb, though if I ever get enough money, make an evil team where all of the executives can break most fighting type pokemon in half with their bare hands.
"Hnnng." I groan as I fold my arms behind my head.
*Ping*
"Hn?" I lazily hum as I glance over to my computer from my bed.
I look over to my little alchemy setup. The Bunsen burners are turned off, the entire thing is perfectly clean.
I yawn and wipe an eye, slowly clambering out from under the blankets as I approach the computer, sighing at how the cold air of my room strikes my body.
"I know for a fact that the quest isn't done, so what's this all about?"

Craft 5 Uncommon Elixers: 0/5 [ ]
"Oh god... that's right... I need to craft those uncommon elixers... uuuuugh that'll be such a pain."
The way I do it is quite simple, just take three regular potions and smelt them down into a fourth. A bit wasteful considering I doubt that it'll sell for more than a regular potion and I need to change my alchemist equipment in order to do it, but hey. I might get lucky and its side effect may improve as well... then I'll have some legitimately threatening ammunition.
Oh, right, I can craft uncommon elixirs now.

I glance to the plant growing in the corner of the room.
"Oh, it looks like it's finally growing some berries. That's good. It won't be long until I can just not leave my house."
Normally, I would just decide 'fuck it' and buy a bunch of oran berries from the shop, but to get the size of the ones I regularly get I would need to pay one hundred poke... each.
And considering that at most I can only sell those potions for a mere twenty poke, I'd be losing sixty dollars for every two potions I make.
That's ridiculous.
Buuuut eventually, I might as well do that.
I crack my neck and approach the alchemical device. "Well, let's get this started."

The boredom.

Least Healing Elixer:
Overview: The side effect is extremely detrimental when they occur, yet it works well enough when used in 'safe' settings, you'll be getting a decent price with that in mind. Its current effect is a little under the standard potion patented by Silph-Co
Sell Price: 26 Poke per Elixer.
Lesser Healing Elixer:
Overview: The side effect is nearly crippling to weaker pokemon, yet at the end of the day, some people are willing to subject their pokemon to burning sensations in order to heal, some bad trainers even get a kick out of it. "If I keep up this pace, I'll unlock genetic alteration sometime within eight or so months!" I grin.
Then I can begin the long, long, process of building up a team.
My hands shake with excitement as I grin at the computer.
I suppose I should get back to research.
From the two months worth of research into laws, pokemon and the life of a trainer I have made a couple discoveries...
First off, steel type pokemon using some form of mythical otherworldly metal is unrealistic for a large majority of all steel type pokemon.
I wanted an Aggron, but basically all steel types share one trait.
The first month is by far the most important time for Steel Type pokemon.
It's what separates the champions from the chaff.
In the first month of their lives, steel type pokemon are... weak...
They technically cannot be considered 'steel' types yet as during that first month, the steel type in question builds up their metallic exterior with whatever resources they can get their hands on. Typically, by eating ores and processing them inside their stomach, then using the minerals to create some form of 'shell'.
Depending on what they eat, the stronger this armor will become. An Aggron which only ate stone will be defeated by an Aggron who ate even a simple metal like aluminum one hundred percent of the time.
There are some issues that come with this, however. Steel types become picky eaters when they eat something 'good'. If they eat iron ore, they won't be satisfied with mere stone. They'll eat it, but It'll make them unhappy and may even compromise the structural integrity of their armored shells.
That makes Steel Type pokemon a little difficult to take care of.
It's why you don't see the richest of the rich with gold plated Skarmory or a Mawile with a glittering gold maw.
There are exceptions to this rule, however.
Firstly, the Klink line of pokemon. They generate the power they need to survive by spinning. They merely need enough ore to form their own body, then they are more or less good for the rest of their lives provided they don't take heavy damage.
The next pokemon is Honedge.
Ghost types don't need to eat, so really all they need is a sword to be forged for them to inhabit- this technically means that Honedge itself isn't a steel type, and is merely possessing an object. There have been cases of a Honedge inhabiting other items, like a battle standard from one of the old pokemon wars or a battle axe, or hell, JUST a shield, skipping the sword entirely.
To make a honedge I would firstly need to make a weapon that is good enough for their standards, then maybe get lucky by breeding the ghost itself.
Ghost types are finnicky though because there's only a handful 'ghost' pokemon. It just takes on different forms based on what it possesses. Depending on the mood of the recently created ghost I could be looking at either a rotom if it infects my electronics, a trevenant if it floats outside and possesses a tree, or a gastly if it takes a look at my potions and decides they are poisonous. And MAYBE a honedge if I am lucky and the ghost pokemon decides it wants to be a sword today.
There are of course exceptions to this rule as well, such as pokemon who gain the type through evolution, the legendaries and mythicals, Oricorio, and the Hisuian Zorua which was formed by a regular Zorua dying and being rebound to its body, thus creating an entirely new species which can breed.
That also technically applies to Dreepy.
There's another large problem though...
I can't genetically alter a ghost... barring, y'know, the obvious ones.
I mean, I could probably find something to improve the strength of their souls in the shop, but overall, I don't want to gamble with ghost types... yet...
I have nothing to enforce their loyalty.
I have nothing to enforce any pokemon's loyalty yet.
Sure I can be nice to them, and I will, but I've seen a Zwelious rage shortly after evolving into a Hydreigon in the anime. Admittedly, Hydreigon is the hardest Pseudo legendary to raise due to its dark typing and the fact that it has the pride of a dragon type, but still. I bet a Salamence could very easily fly into a rage like that.
Anyways, next on the steel type agenda, there's Klefki.
No.
It's a one stage pokemon that looks lame as hell and is fairly weak.
Magnemite would absolutely TANK my electrical bill, so no... for now... I might get a Magnezone in the far future.
Finally, there's ferroseed.
The Grass Steel type pokemon, only needing ore right after it's born, after its first evolution where its armored shell will become thinned as it stretches over its new surface area, and if its armored shell ever gets torn off, which is extremely rare and almost impossible due to its general egg shape with no gaps in its defense.
It survives via some form of super advanced photosynthesis that can slowly mend its armor... provided that there are only minor cracks here and there.
There are only two options for my steel type dream. Klink and Ferroseed.
The question is... which do I pick?
A man obscured by shadow frowns at the executive reporting to him.
"An influx of potions?"
"Yes, sir. The black market has been getting more potions from an unknown source for the past six months. They simply pay them and the potions get teleported in. At first, the quality was low, there was a chance that they made the Pokémon we used them on sick for about an hour after application, but... last month the side effects were completely removed from the lesser potions... and not only that the healing potency of each potion has improved"
"Someone is cracking Devon's secretive potion recipe?" The man questions.
"We don't believe so due to the difference in application method and color." The blue haired man replies with a quiet head shake. "This month they seem to have doubled their creation output. It's quite incredible."
"Are you saying that they have discovered a new method to potion creation?"
"We believe so, Giovanni." The man nods.
"Interesting." The man with short black hair smirks. "What can you tell me of the seller?"
"We, even with our advanced tracking, have found little on the seller. We have tried tracking their payments with Porygon, yet not even that has worked. We do not even have a name to call them... so far they have come out with two potion variants. One simply named 'Least' and another called 'Lesser'."
"What can you tell me of the strength of these potions?" The black haired man demands.
"Well, firstly, medicine created by this chemist is meant to be drunk, not sprayed onto wounds. A month ago, 'Least' was around two thirds the potency of a basic Devon Corporation potion, roughly one in five having the side effect of making the Pokémon in question nauseous for about an hour, this was when the creator was still making their presence known, almost exclusively making these 'Least' potions, and very rarely making a 'Lesser' variant, something around one and a half times as strong as a normal Devon potion, yet almost always causing the Pokémon in question incredible burning discomfort due to the concentration of the medicine."
"But it has changed?"
"It has." The blue haired man nods. "As of this batch, Least is equivalent to normal potions and its side effect has been completely removed. Lesser is around twice as powerful as normal potions and the pain they cause are lessened by about fifteen percent."
"He is still improving... and with a feverous pace at that." The boss mutters. "Invest more resources into finding this man. I want him on my payroll, Archer."
"Yes sir. We will get on it right away." The blue haired man nods respectfully.
I let out a long yawn as I crack open an eye, slowly sitting up in my bed.
Firstly, it isn't merely compacted into a room with all my other stuff...
It's my very own bedroom.
I look to the flatscreen Tv atop a nearby dresser and stretch my arms above my head.
The past few months I have been increasing the size of my base. Now in addition to the starting room, I have a bedroom to the side where the bathroom once was, and a second smaller room dead ahead that stores my alchemical materials.
The main room which I started off in... is now nothing more than a large kitchen-slash dining area.
I clamber out of bed, quietly turning on the tv, my joints pop as I stretch, wiping the tiredness from my eyes.
"Winter is in full force this week as temperatures drop to the low forties. Trainers on the road should keep a fire type on hand or hunker down for the coming winter months."
"Let it be known to the trainers in the western half of Unova, Beartic are beginning to leave their caves with their recently born cubchoo. If you happen to spy a stray cubchoo, back away slowly and carefully, Beartic are unruly and violent naturally, but this is only magnified if someone appears to be a threat to their young."
It has been about six months since I have come to this world. Not much has changed. As of last month I'm producing twice as many potions per day to satisfy my quest's steadily increasing objectives.

The further you go, the grander your creations may become. You peel back the surface of knowledge only to discover an almost suffocating depth beneath
You know how to create Rare 'Worldly Alchemical Concoctions'.
Alchemical concoctions are 45% more powerful than normal.
Detremental Side Effects of your potions are 15% weaker. in addition, the side effects of potions of 'Common' Rarity are completely removed (Unless you intend to make them with flaws)
Due to the fact my basic potions no longer have any side effects, I'm making SERIOUS bank off of them.
Said bank has been reduced because I've had a fairly slow supply of oran berries this month... due to winter...
But I'm able to buy oran berries from the shop and still make a profit, thus that's what I've been doing.
I have been told that buying too many in a month could cause the price to skyrocket, but I haven't reached that limit yet with my mere nine hundred potions a month.
You have to spend money to make money sometimes... and in this case, I'd say that I made the right call.
"Speaking of cold weather, the blizzard that struck the seaside Undella town late last night has finally cleared up, we have gotten reports of snow nearly reaching a staggering six feet deep! Pokemon rangers on site have been clearing snow since earlier this morning and it appears that the resort will survive this storm with very little property damage."
"In other news, across all regions, the registration deadline for this year's set of conferences is inching closer and closer. Fill out those entrance forms quickly, trainers, otherwise those hard months of collecting eight badges will be all for nothing!"
I'm roughly half way to my goal of learning genetic alteration... then it's a matter of grinding that skill like I have my alchemy.
I've more or less decided on a team for myself that I shall be making in the coming years... the first piece?
Ferroseed. The thorn seed pokemon.
I frown as I notice something. "Hn? Have I gained a little weight?"
It's sort of to be expected due to my static lifestyle for the past six months.
It's not much, maybe five to ten pounds or so?
Fuck. Maybe I should get a gym before the gene altering stuff?
I'll need to stay fit if I want to be a pokemon trainer...
"Nhhhhh... nah. I'll just do a bunch of pushups, sit-ups, and crunches... and maybe I'll buy a treadmill. Or could always just run back and forth through the base all things considered."
I reach over to the remote I had sat on my bedside table and turn off the Tv.
Ugh. Three and a half years until I can start my journey... that'll make me start half way into the league year though... that sucks. Most people will have an entire year to finish but I'll be forced to deal with it over the course of six months.
Or... I could just get my license early.
It's not like they'll know that I'm not sixteen yet.
In that case, three years till I start my journey.
"Well, let's get started for the day~" I quietly hum as I walk out of the room, planning to get the alchemy machine started then cook a nice balanced breakfast.
Well, Xander is progressing fairly quickly he's making that sweet cash money! It won't be long until he is able to spend money like team rocket and can toss out literaly millions to build a giant meowth robot to catch some random ass 31 IV pikachu for no reason.
I mean, okay, maybe Pikachu is sort of worth it considering it can shock ground types and if I remember correctly, fends off legendaries on the regular, but still... electric rat?
Also: please note: fanfiction is doing this new thing where you have to update your ability to be sent alerts every 180 days or so. It's utterly stupid and has crippled the number of views I get per chapter. Why they did this, I don't know. I 100% guarantee that a fair majority of people who follow me have zero clue this has even been uploaded and if you're reading this, maybe you should put your alerts on because you might have already missed some things.

Arkon: how exactly would he go about turning plants from other universes into plant type pokemon?
ToastedCookies: that's only if he gets REALLY angry. He's gotta appear 'good' so he doesn't get messed with by the pokemon league, after all.
Guest 001: I honestly looked for a fanfiction that did this idea. The closest thing was that little team galactic SCP thing in 'Welcome to the (insane) world of pokemon.' So after that, I decided. 'fine. I'll do it myself.'
Ya boi: By nature his team is going to start off pretty strong, but that's more due to his incredible effort in getting them.
TabascoSlacksMcG: If Xander was the one supplying them with their robots. They wouldn't be failing to catch Pikachu. As for the overall world? I'm unsure. If this is the anime, ash is 10 and unable to go on a pokemon adventure for another 6 years, so I doubt he'll be very relevant in this story.
I'll see you all whenever!
