Did you?

Disclaimer: if I owned it, it would not be a kids show.

Crappy One-shot

Robin held the communicator in his right hand tightly. He was alone on the roof the light breeze making his cape wave behind him, and his hair wave in front of his eyes. This was one thing he never really wanted to do

He still held the one thing that him and Batman talked through now-a-days. He idly touched the button. He never even wanted this topic to come up. But it was burning him from the inside. He sharply turned on one foot and headed down the stairs. He was going to do this but somewhere that he wouldn't be interrupted.

Reaching the garage he took his keys out of his utility belt and rode out of the tower and onto the road. Trees whizzed by him as he drove by. The wind whipped at his face but it still did not take his mind off what he was about to do.

When he got to his destination he barely realized a half hour had gone by. He stepped off the bike and stood by the cliff looking over the ocean. Waves splashed up against the rocks. The wind was less strong here. He sat on a rock and again held out the black communicator.

His heart already began to beat faster. He held his finger just above the button. It was now or never. He pressed down on the button and it sprang to life. He looked at the blank screen. It didn't stay blank for long. Batman appeared on the screen.

"What's wrong?" Bruce asked knowing Robin would not call just to 'catch up'

Robin didn't know how to start. So he just sat there both staring at each other.

"Robin, what is it?" Batman asked demandingly. Robin still just stared at the screen. He took a deep breath and looked away for a second. Batman began to grow impatient.

"Robin." He said loudly in a voice that reminded Robin of Slade.

"Did you care?" He asked simply. Batman looked confused

"Care about what? That you left to start your own team?" Batman asked.

"No." Robin answered simply.

"Then what?"

"When I went missing before."

"Yes of course I did." Batman answered.

"Then why didn't you help look for me?" Robin asked. He needed to know why. This was one of the many things besides Slade keeping him up at night. Why had his mentor, his father not look for him when he was missing.

"I believed you could handle yourself on your own." Batman answered.

"But you obviously knew I was missing! How could you believe I could get out of it when I got into it in the first place!" Robin snapped. Batman did not answer the outburst.

"Are you saying you can't handle this on your own?"

"I'm saying you could have helped me in my time of need!" Robin blurted out in rage again.

"Why what happened?" Batman asked. Robin didn't say a word. He just looked at the screen. "Robin I do care. What happened." Robin pushed the button again and turned the communicator off. He slid it back into his pocket ignoring the beeping signaling batman trying to reconnect.

He turned around sharply to head back to his bike. He stopped dead in his tracks.

"tsk tsk my little bird, going back to the nest for help? I though you were better than that. Are you admitting you need help?"
