Chapter II

Reunion

In his quarters onboard the Sargasso Space Station, Wolf placed the framed photo of both him and Melissa back onto his nightstand table and glanced at the ceiling with his hands behind his head. His thoughts were on Melissa, the only girl he loved during their days as cadets at the Cornerian Flight Academy before he became the leader of Star Wolf and working for Andross during the Lylat wars. Another tear formed in his one good eye because he regretted leaving her after leaving the academy when they were younger.

"Melissa," He said to himself. "If only I can find a way to see you again."

He wiped the tear from his eye and sighed. Only glancing at the framed photo made him regret working for Andross because of money problems. He longed to be with her again to make up for working for Andross all those years ago.

"Something bothering you, Wolf?" Leon said from the doorway

"Nothing you need to know, Leon." Wolf snarled.

Leon turned his attention to the framed photo. He picked it up and examined it.

"Oh, Wolf's got a girlfriend." Leon teased, "Disgusting, if you ask me."

"That is none of your business, Leon." Wolf snapped as he sat up and grabbed the photo from him

"As I said, disgusting." Leon said as he turned and left the room. "Panther is down in the recreation room on deck 24."

Wolf gave a low growl as he watched him leave the room. He groaned when his PDA beeped. He picked it up and answered it. The image of Fox McCloud appeared.

"What is it, Fox?" He asked

"Wolf, an old friend from your past wants to see you up in her quarters right now on deck 19." Fox replied, "Says she misses you with all of her heart."

Wolf looked at him then got up and left the room.

Inside of her family quarters on deck 19, Melissa watched her young son carry his box of belongings into his bedroom then began to unpack her belongings. She sighed as she glanced at the golden locket she wore around her neck. It was a gift she recieved from Wolf when they were cadets at the academy. She opened it and was about to glance at the two pictures of both her, Wolf and Micheal inside of it, when the doorbell to their family quarters buzzed.

"Come in!" She said, placing the locket into her jewelry box on her nightstand table

From outside, Wolf sighed deeply.

"God help me." He said to himself as he walked through the door and entered the room. "Hello, Melissa."

Melissa looked up at him and gasped.

"Oh my god!" She said to him with her mouth dropped, "Wolf!"

She got up and threw her arms around him. Tears began to flow down her eyes. Wolf wrapped his muscular arms around her and held her.

"Hey, beautiful." Wolf said to her as he let go of her, "I've missed you."

"I've missed you as well." Melissa said as she wiped the tears from her eyes. "I cannot believe it has been years since we last saw each other."

"Last time we saw each other," Wolf said, "you were a pilot for the Cornerian Defense Force."

"I was among the best ones." Melissa said, "Even Bill saw that."

"Is that why the Cornerian Defense Force chose you to be the new head of security for the space station?" Wolf asked "Because I remember you being a strong-willed girl during our days at the academy."

"I once gave Peter Cladiski a black eye during my third year." Melissa said, "All because he was hitting on me the night we were having a party at your place."

Wolf chuckled quietly, but felt something was bothering her. Melissa walked up to the window and glanced out towards space. Wolf walked up to her.

"What is it?" He asked her, "What's wrong?"

"Do you remember when you and I got drunk during the party?" She asked him, "And you and I slept with each other after that?"

Wolf shook his head. Melissa left the room and returned with Kevin beside her. Wolf couldn't help but noticed there was a striking resemblence between both himself and Kevin.

"Who's thi-?" He began to ask with his jaw dropped, but then it hit him, "No! No! He's my-?"

"His name is Kevin O'Donnell." Melissa replied, "He's OUR son."

Wolf placed his hand over his heart. Those three words filled his head like bees in a beehive. He felt his heart was pounding hard.

"Hi." Kevin said to Wolf.

"Hey." Wolf replied in a whispered tone

Wolf sat down on the side of his bed and placed his head into his hands. Melissa placed a hand on his shoulder in an attempt to comfort him.

"Melissa, I must speak to you." Wolf said in an almost-angry tone, turning his attention to Kevin, "Privately."

"OK." Melissa said.
