Same Night: Rose Hills, Tennessee

Outside: Alley

Dipper and Timmy are at the memorial site. The kid is sitting down at the edge of the crater while Dipper continues to look around the area, at the remains of the local explosion site that read earlier, trying to figure out what happened.

Dipper asks Timmy, "Six people died, right?"

Timmy nods a bit, "Yeah."

Dipper asks again, "Including Edwin Durland?"

Timmy answers, "Yeah. Yeah."

Dipper continues looking around at the remains of the explosion site as he walks over to the kid, "Yeah. That makes little sense." He sits next to Timmy on his left. Timmy gives him a questionable look, and Dipper explains as he points at the shadows, "Think about it. Six dead. Only five shadows."

Timmy looks down, "Yeah. People said these shadows are like the mark of souls gone to Heaven. Except for the bomb guy. He went to Hell on account he didn't get a shadow. That's why there are only five."

Dipper, not looking at Timmy, "Do you buy that?"

Timmy shrugs a bit, "That's what everyone says." They sit in silence for a moment before Timmy breaks it, "You know what this crater reminds me of?"

Dipper answers bluntly, "No idea. I'm not... I don't care."

Timmy looks up with a smile, moving his hands a bit, "That giant wormhole in, um... in New York. Does it remind you?"

Dipper was uncomfortable about the subject, "That's manipulative. I don't want to talk about it."

Timmy asks curiously, "Are they coming back? The aliens?"

Dipper raises his voice but tries to stay calm, "Maybe. Can you stop?" Timmy looks away, "Remember when I told you I have an anxiety issue?"

Timmy asks a bit nervously, "Does this subject make you... make you edgy?"

Dipper panics a bit but tries really hard to stay calm, "Yeah, a little bit. Can I catch my breath for a second?"

Timmy asks Dipper, who takes a deep breath, "Are these bad guys in Rose Hills? Do you... do you need a plastic bag to breathe into? Do you have medication?"

Dipper tells Timmy, "Nope."

Timmy continues to question, "Do you need to be on it?"

Dipper agrees a bit as he tries to stay calm, "Probably."

Timmy asks again, "Do you have PTSD?"

Dipper answers, unsure, his eyes closed, "I don't think so."

Timmy asks Dipper, "Do you... Do you want me to call Jazz?"

Dipper shakes his head as he takes a sharp breath, "No."

Timmy turns to Dipper and leans back a bit to look at him, "Are you... are you going completely mental?" Dipper gives him a look, "I can stop. Do you want me to stop? Do you want me to stop?"

Dipper snaps a bit, "Remember when I said to stop doing that? I swear that you're going to freak me out!" Dipper, now agitated, suddenly stands up, "Ah man, you did it, didn't you? Are you happy now?"

Timmy calls out as he looks at Dipper, "What did I say?" Dipper runs off with Timmy running after him, calling out, "Hey, wait up!" Dipper mumbled to himself, taking off his coat, "Wait, wait." Dipper stops running and leans against the building wall. He slowly drops to his knees, taking off his hat. Timmy catches up with him and stops a few feet beside him, "What the hell was that?"

Dipper grabs some snow and holds it to his face for a moment to stop his fast breathing and then runs his hands down his face before looking at Timmy and throwing the snow at him. It hits Timmy's shoulder as he moves to cover his face, "Your fault." Dipper points his finger at him, "You spazz me out." Timmy, with a slight smile as Dipper, puts his hat back on and says "Okay, back to business. Where were we? The guy who died. Family? His husband? Daryl Blubs, where is he?"

Timmy shrugs as he answers, "Where he always is."

Dipper was satisfied, "See, now you're being helpful."

Minutes Later: Street

Dipper walking around town alone, calls Jazz on the cell phone he got from Timmy. He puts the phone up to his ear.

Inside: Timmy's Garage

Jazz is sitting at the metal table that she used to operate on Mabel. She's currently organizing the rest of the supplies she brought, sees her phone vibrating on the table, picks it up, and sees an unknown number but answers a little unsure, "Hello?"

Dipper's voice comes through, "Hey, it's me." Jazz closes her eyes in relief, "How is she?" She opens her eyes.

Jazz sighs in worry as she glances at Mabel to her left, "Stable for now." She stands up and slowly steps towards Mabel.

Outside: In Town

Dipper walks on the sidewalk, passing a few people as he does, and asks as he looks around, "Has she woken up yet?"

Inside: Timmy's Garage

Jazz standing beside the couch Mabel's on, looking at Mabel's heart rates on the laptop screen in front of her, "No. That's what worries me. She should've woken up by now."

Dipper's voice sighs but tells Jazz as he hides his worry, "Alright, call me if anything changes. I have to see someone in town. Just don't leave the garage."

Jazz nods, "Okay. Just try to check in a few because I don't want to worry about two Pines being injured. One's enough."

Outside: In Town

Dipper smiles a bit as he catches Jazz's joke but doesn't acknowledge it, assuring her, "I'll be fine." They both hang up.

Inside: Timmy's Garage

Jazz pulls her phone away from her ear and mumbles as she looks down at her phone, "Yeah, sure." She walks back over to Mabel.

Outside: In Town

Dipper walks towards a bar as he adjusts his coat and accidentally bumps into a woman, "Sorry." He turns around and notices the woman dropped something. He calls out as he kneels down, "Lady, this uh..." He picks up the item and hands it back to the woman as she turns and walks back to him.

The woman named Vicky gently takes the item from Dipper as she says, "Thank you." Dipper notices the woman has a burn mark on the left side of her face.

Dipper tells the woman to relieve some awkward silence and tension, "Nice haircut. It suits you."

Vicky glances down at Dipper's wrist and comments with a slight smile, "Nice watch."

Dipper tells Vicky jokingly, but with a straight face as he holds his wrist up to show her, "Yeah. A limited edition."

Vicky smiles in amusement as she looks at it, "Oh, I don't doubt it." They pause for a moment as Dipper looks at her with a bit of suspicion. She tells him politely, "Well, have a good evening." The woman smiles as she turns and walks off.

Dipper narrows his eyes in a slight confusion in the woman's direction before adjusting his cap and turning towards the bar.

Inside: Town Bar

Dipper enters the bar, walks, and looks around as people doing their own thing and having a good time. Dipper passes a cop by the bar. He tenses a little and looks forward, not doing anything, and he continues on.

A few minutes later, after getting a drink, Dipper walks up to Daryl Blubs, who's sat at the table drinking alone, holding dog tags in one hand, looking depressed.

Dipper greets politely as he sets his drink down on the table, "Daryl Blubs. Mind if I join you?" He gestures to the seat beside him.

Daryl Blubs tells Dipper as he looks up at him, "Free country."

Dipper looks away as he agrees, "Sure is." Dipper sits next to him. Daryl Blubs looks at Dipper for a moment as he gets comfy in his seat.

Daryl Blubs leans back in his chair, saying, "Alright. Where'd you like to start?"

Dipper shrugs a bit and says gently, "I want to say I'm sorry about your loss. I want to know what you think happened."

Daryl Blubs looks uncomfortable about the subject but tells Dipper, annoyed, "Look, I brought your damn file." He takes out a file from his back pocket, "You take it and go." He drops the file on the table in front of him, "Whatever was in here? He wanted no part of it."

Dipper opens the file and looks at Daryl Blubs, confused, "Clearly, you're waiting for someone else. Yeah? Supposed to meet somebody here?"

Daryl Blubs looks at Dipper, "Yeah."

Dipper looks at the file again, reading 'DURLAND, EDWIN', 'MIA', 'SUITABILITY REPORT 10-17N MEDICAL DETAIL'. Daryl Blubs looks at him as he looks through the file. Dipper continues looking and notices a military photo of Nate next to the photo of Edwin.

Dipper closes the file, leans towards Daryl Blubs a bit, and tells him, "Daryl Blubs, your husband didn't kill himself. I guarantee you. He didn't kill anyone. Someone used him."

Daryl Blubs looks at Dipper, a little confused, as he listens to him, "What?"

Dipper finishes, "As a weapon."

Daryl Blubs shifts uncomfortably as he takes in the information, then asks Dipper lowly, "You're not the person who called me after all, are you?"

Suddenly, a cell phone is slammed on their table with a voice telling Daryl Blubs, "Actually, I am."

Dipper looks up and sees that it's the woman he bumped into outside the bar, and suddenly, Vicky grabs hold of Dipper's left arm and twists it, making him stand up, and she slams his head onto the table, as the Rose Hills Sheriff shouts, "Hey, hey, hey!" Daryl Blubs leans back in his chair in surprise to avoid getting hit. Dipper manages to quickly grab hold of Edwin's dog tags on the table with his free hand and puts it in his vest pocket without Vicky noticing as the Rose Hills Sheriff asks, "What's all this about? What the hell's going on here?" He stands a few feet from them.

Vicky tells the Sheriff as she handcuffs Dipper, "It's called an arrest." She then pushes Dipper to the ground as he grunts at the impact, and she steps towards the Sheriff, "Sheriff, is it?"

Rose Hills Sheriff confirms, "Yes, ma'am, it is. And you are?"

Vicky tells the Sheriff, "Homeland Security." She holds up her badge, "We good here?"

Rose Hills Sheriff refuses, "No, we're not 'good'." He chuckles humorously, "I need a little more information than that."

Vicky tells the Sheriff as Dipper looks at Daryl Blubs and nods to him, "Well, I think it's a little above your pay grade, Sheriff." Daryl Blubs catches Dipper's gesture and silently turns in his seat.

Rose Hills Sheriff tells Vicky as Daryl Blubs glances at Vicky suspiciously and quickly tosses the file on the floor. It slides under a table, hiding it, "Yeah? Well, why don't you get on the horn to Nashville and, uh... upgrade me?"

Vicky steps towards the Sheriff, "Alright, you know what? I was hoping to do this the smart way, but uh..." The hand that's holding the badge glows red, "...the fun way is always good."

Dipper notices Vicky's hand turning red hot, burning the badge in her hand. He's looking at it in surprise and worry.

Rose Hill Sheriff commands to another Deputy, "Deputy, get this woman out of-" Suddenly, Vicky shoves the hot badge into the Sheriff's face, making him groan in pain as a woman screams at the sight.

Vicky's eyes glow red as her chest and neck glow red hot with her right-hand burns through the Sheriff's gut, making him scream in pain, and she takes the Deputy's gun from his holster and takes her arm out of the Sheriff, shooting the Deputy behind the Sheriff.

Dipper quickly stands up as Vicky shoots the Sheriff, who is kneeling in pain. She smirks devilishly as she enjoys the power running through her veins. Vicky looks around and walks towards the exit in Dipper's direction as she pulls some excess skin from the Sheriff off her arm.
