A/N: I know I know I really shouldn't be starting another story since I have two that are waiting to be worked on...but I couldn't resist this one here, it was calling to me.

Tyra: 512 H.E.

"Do you have the item?" a voice asked quietly. A short stocky man with balding brown hair, dressed in tattered dirty clothing looked up at the throne in front of him. On it sat a slender figure in a long black cloak with the hood drawn up making it impossible to see the figure's face.

"Yes milord, but I still don't understand the significance of-"

"Silence!" the voice cut in. "Your job is not to understand. There are far bigger plans here than you or I Putney. A change is coming to Tyra. A new era where we will not have to fear those on our borders. We will conquer the newly re-united Tortall and then Scanra, and eventually every country near us. The gods have deemed it to be so Putney! Tyra will take over the world, with me as it's leader!"

"B-but milord, His Highness...King Elisharen...he will never allow it!"

"You stupid fool! Soon Elisharen will be in no place to dictate Tyra's fate!"

"Do you mean to kill him milord?" Putney asked glancing up wide eyed.

"No, things will go so much easier if he simply steps down from the throne and proclaims me his successor. Then I won't have to deal with as many revolts or a war. I'll simply take the throne, the people will look to me, and then my conquest shall begin!"

"How are you possibly going to get the King to step down Sir?"

"Oh foolish foolish Putney. Do you even know what you are holding in your hands there?" Putney looked down to the object that had taken so much time and effort to retrieve. To the untrained eye it appeared to be a simple medallion bearing the crest of a forgotten noble house. To one wiser though it was a powerful tool that would allow it's wielder to control the minds of any who looked at it closely enough.

"It appears to be a piece of ladies jewelry Sir," Putney answered.

"Wrong again Putney, but never you mind what it does. You shall be rewarded greatly for your contribution here. In a few months time I can offer you the position of general in my army, and your own fief to govern as well."

Putney's face lit up with the future prospects and he quickly handed the medallion to his master and bowed himself out of the room.

The figure on the throne smiled. How easy it was to manipulate the peasants. They were all greedy power hungry mongrels who would betray their own mother for a gold piece. No matter to him. It would just make it easier to tear the kingdom from Elisharen's grasp. The Medallion of Ardolin would convince Elisharen to abdicate the throne, but he was a strong spirited man and his soul would fight the medallion's power. He could not risk Elisharen overcoming the spell of the medallion and overthrowing him.

No, he had to get to the people as well. Give them the power they craved so that he could start up a large army and crush anyone who opposed him. Tyra would be his and nothing was going to stop him!

The figure sat back in his throne and pondered how best to get to the king. This wasn't going to be something he could do right away. He had to plan carefully and move tactfully. Suddenly he jumped up off his throne and walked quickly out of the room capes billowing behind him. He had many things to do!

A/N: Ok, this is just an introduction...I'm not sure if I should continue with this...but I'm going to put up one more chapter and we'll see. Not sure how often I'm going to get to update though because I'm leaving for school in two days and am going to be busy getting set up there and adjusting to a new roommate. Anyways please please please review and tell me what you think.
