Chapter 205 Help

Sam's arms were getting heavy as he fought another demon. They had been fighting for three hours without a break. He had come to the fighting to find it in disarray. The hunters were killing demons outright and the bodies were staring to pile up. He had taken charge and assigned hunters jobs to do. The first group, which were he, Bobby and two others, battled the demons towards the hunters firing fire extinguishers full of holy water. In their weakened state the next hunters were able to hold them down for exorcism. Then the last of the group were steering the surviving humans out of the cemetery. It was much better than killing the humans the demons had possessed. Sam thought it was what Dean would have done.

Sam knew they needed help. He turned to Bobby standing by his side.
"We need help. I'm gonna go talk to the angels."
"Good luck." Bobby had seen the angels just standing and watching the gate.
Sam broke from the group and walked around to the angels. He pushed through to Michael.
"We could use some help."
Michael half turned with a frown, seeming like he was dirty at being interrupted.
"We cannot be disturbed. I will appoint one of my scribes to help. He has angel powers. Gabriel, assign a scribe." It came out flat and hard.
An angel moved to the edge of the grouped angels and raised his hands as if to pray.
"Thank you." Sam went to turn away.
Michael's expression softened slightly. "We should have helped earlier, Samuel. You have done well but you understand this fight is all we have eyes for at this time. The scribe can provide anything you need to hold them back." Michael paused as if considering. "Dean is doing well, Samuel. He has the cage and has weakened what we know is a spell. As soon as the spell is broken we go in at full force."
"Good luck. Please keep him safe."
Michael nodded and turned back to the gate.

Sam went to Gabriel who stood next to a tall, thin, blonde haired young man in a white suit, holding a white glowing clipboard. Gabriel touched the man on the shoulder and he glowed for a moment.
"Thank you my, Lord."
"Don't fail us, Joseph."
"No, my Lord." Joseph said with a bow of his head..
Gabriel moved off to join the front row of angels.
Sam stepped forward. "Hi Joe, I'm Sam." Sam shook his hand.
"What do you need, Samuel?" The scribe asked seriously.
Sam led him to where the hunters were fighting. "It's going to be light soon, we need the area protected from humans getting in."

Joe consulted his clipboard. "That has been provided by Lord Michael. The cemetery has a barrier and angels in place as cemetery workers to deflect the humans without harm."
"Great start. Can we block the demons getting in?"
"Unfortunately not. We could, however, build a false gate and isolate this area."
"Great idea. How about in that area with the brick circle? Could we fill it with holy water? We are trying to save humans if we can."
Joe consulted his clipboard. "We can do that. Shall I proceed?"
"Yes, please."
"I will return when it is done." Joe disappeared.

Bobby was holding down a demon when Sam joined him. "Things are about to change. We have an angel scribe that is going to help. We are going to move to where the setup was last night."
"When?"
"When Joe tells us. I'll spread the word." Sam moved around the group.
By the time he had told the hunters, Joe had reappeared and the area was immediately free of the earlier dead bodies and fighting demons. In another beat the hunters were at the brick circle which was full of holy water and two demons were thrashing around in the now makeshift pool.
All the hunters were impressed and more so when they saw a red light at the bottom of the pool: the fake gate.

Two hunters moved around to where two demons were looking confused and kicked them in the water. Three hunters read out an exorcism together and another four fetched clean humans from the water. Two men appeared wearing white took the humans from the hunters and disappeared.
"They will be taken to where they were possessed. They will not remember."
Sam breathed a sigh of relief, it was suddenly much better.
"I have left to angels at the gate to redirect here if they get though."
"Great idea, thank you Joe."

Joe didn't answer, simply standing and watching proceedings.
"Do you have other orders to carry out?" Sam asked the angel.
"None. I am to help the hunters until Sir Gabriel calls me back."
"Can anything be done to help Dean?"
Joe thought for a minute then consulted the board. "Hmm. We can't see in but a connection between the two of you might be possible. You have a very strong connection here which will help."
"How do I do that?"
"Just by concentrating on his mind. You need to think at him to get a connection and if it's there he could borrow some energy from you."
"That sounds ideal. Could I send him a message?"
"It is possible here but who can say what purgatory's rules are? The energy connection may not work either. Dean would have to 'pick up' much like a telephone for it to work. His mind may be too busy for you to get through."
"Okay, well thanks for helping. I will give it a try."

Bobby came over to Sam since everything was now in control. "Good work with the God squad. Who knew we could have asked for help? They are so fixed on the gate, not that I blame them."
"The look Michael gave me, I thought I was going to explode. It must be hard work, listening to what's going on. He said Dean's doing well."
Bobby nodded. "We knew he would."
"They have the cage so they must be getting things ready. I asked Michael to keep him safe but I'm not sure he will remember when he gets there."
"Even though Michael isn't using Dean as a puppet he will look after him. He is basically leading the first part of this hunt."
"Hunt?"
"Makes it easier just to think of it as regular business."
"I guess it does."
"Don't worry, Sam. Dean will come back." Bobby could see Sam was worried by the set of his jaw.
Sam looked in the direction of the now eerily quiet section of the cemetery the angels were using.
"I hope so, Bobby. I hope so."

Dean landed on his ass yet again. These monkeys kept coming out of the sand so frequently they were forced to kill on the run or be swamped by the hairy beasts. They looked vaguely like a monkey yet, despite the resemblance to the wizard of OZ monkeys, they were oddly alien and miles from earth monkeys. They has long spikes down their backs that went down their short tails and claws sharper than the cage builders. They fought with ferocity Dean had never seen before. After hours on the run, during which Dean had been forced to use his sword and the demon knife at the same time, they came to a change in terrain. It was a lush looking but very pale forest. For a time there was sand on the ground and as it disappeared they had dispatched the last of the 'monkeys' they came across a river.

Cain sat the group down on rocks and moved through them healing where needed. Dean actually had a claw lodged in his shoulder that was leaking blood down his shirt and moving poison around his body. He was glad when Cain healed him as he had been in some pain.
"Not the monster you were thinking?" Cain looked at Dean who looked unsure at being healed by the knight.
"Well, you are different from the Cain in the book."
"Don't think of me as an angel. I'm a bad guy, Dean."
"Father of murder." Dean nodded.
"Scary." Cain grinned raising his eyebrows. "It a colorful description, I'll give him that. What's even scarier is you reading the bible. I thought you not the type."
"It's amazing how close some of that stuff is to the supernatural."
"Well spoken. There was a time when they were one and the same. Anyway, healed, lets finish the job.
"Thanks, I appreciate it."
Ramiel and Asmodeus stripped off their heavy cloaks and jumped in the river looking for Enochian. Cain checked the air then turned to Dean.
"Any ideas."
Dean tilted his head. "There's a waterfall that way. I'd search that first."
"Let's go."
