Chapter 15 The Next Generation:
Okay, so we finally reached the chapter where get the meet the other part of the title, the Next Generation. I know I originally said that I was gonna have a daughter. That hasn't changed but I thought it might be fun to have them be twins instead. So a son and a daughter I guess. Plus I don't have any intention to give Orochimaru a child like Mibitsi or whatever his name is Boruto. Bleh! I feel sick every time I see that name or anything related to it. (Blow raspberry). Anyway, without that guy I had to make someone to be a third member of the current shinobi team. Konohamaru will be the Jonin like in the … abomination… sorry to those of you who might like it. Well, I hope you guys enjoy the personalities I come with for the new line of Shinobi. Might introduce more later like Sasuke has more children. Please review and let me know what you think or any suggestions for improvement.
Thirteen years passed throughout the Five Great Nations. An era of peace like never before had emerged from the ashes of the Fourth Great Ninja War, and a new generation of Shinobi had been born into the Village Hidden in the Leaves.
Naruto Uzumaki, the Seventh Hokage, sat at his desk, taking care of the endless pile of paperwork that was ever present for the position. He'd been given the title at last five years ago on the tenth anniversary of the defeat of the Akatsuki and Kaguya. He'd already been Hokage level, probably beyond as well. But he still needed time to learn to actually run a village as it took more than just being a strong Shinobi. His Hokage cloak had been adorned with orange flame patterns and underneath he wore his latest orange outfit.
"Just a little more than I can head home to everyone," Naruto said to himself.
He finished another few documents and then put his pointer and middle fingers together on both hands. "Shadow clone Jutsu!"
A single shadow clone appeared in a puff of smoke.
"Well, you know the drill," Naruto said.
"Right," the clone said. "Make sure you don't have too much to do tomorrow."
With a Shadow clone taking over his paper work, Naruto could both work and spend time with his family. He walked down the steps of the Hokage House. But he never really spent the night here. His home would always be in his old apartment that he now knew had belonged to his father and mother before him. He made his way down, the villagers smiling at him as he passed. He waved as he went and gave a big smile. Finally, everyone respected him.
He came to his house and opened the door.
"I'm home!" Naruto called out.
"Dad!"
"Dad!"
"Daddy!"
Three different sets of voices rang through the once empty and lonely house that Naruto had lived in. His children ran over to him while his wife approached more calmly. First were the twins, his eldest daughter and son, Kasumi and Orenji, then his baby girl Hanako. Kasumi had her father's blonde hair in the style her mother had, and she wore a red hairband with the Uzumaki swirl in it. She also had his signature goofy grin and her mother's green eyes, a perfect blend of them. She wore a red and white dress. Her brother Orenji was the oddball when it came the hair in the family. He'd somehow gotten the red hair famous among other Uzumaki's. Apparently, it had a been a strong hereditary trait that passed through Naruto even though he had inherited his father's blonde hair. He did have Naruto's eyes though. Last was Hanako who had taken after her mother the most, having Sakura's pink hair which she had in a pair of pigtails, and like her brother she shared their father's eyes.
The kids all ran to their father and hugged him from all side. The twins reached him first with Hanako close behind, Naruto put an arm around either of them then let go just in time to catch his youngest and pick her up in his arms before looking at his wife.
Sakura Uzumaki smiled at her husband.
"Welcome home Naruto," she said before walking up and hugging him as well before kissing him on the lips. "Just in time for dinner too."
Naruto grinned. "Alright let's eat!"
The family walked over to their dinner table. Their apartment was much clear then it had even been when Naruto had lived alone. Whenever Sakura wasn't working at the hospital she was cooking and cleaning. It had been a bit of work with how messy Naruto was, and whenever he left something around carelessly she would give him one of her usual smackdowns.
Naruto took off his Hokage cloak and let it hang on his chair before digging into his beautiful wife's homemade cooking.
"So how are you two doing in the academy?" he asked the twins.
"Well, I'm doing the best out of both of us!" Kasumi said.
"Yeah yeah you still aren't able to beat Seyatsu," Orenjii said.
"At least I make an effort to get good grades in the Academy while you just sit around and do nothing with Shikanamu!" Kasumi snapped.
"Alright that's enough you two!" Sakura said with a calm smile. "Good work Kasumi. Also, if you don't improve your grades Orenjii I won't make your favorite meal for a month!"
"Ah! Mom!" the red-haired boy complained. "Not my ramen!"
"Yes, ramen!" Sakura said smiling.
Naruto grinned. More for him.
"And that goes for you too Naruto!" Sakura said.
"What? But I didn't do anything!" Naruto exclaimed.
"He gets his lack of studiousness from you! So you better encourage him to be smarter then you were!" Sakura said.
"Alright, Oren do what your mom says and pay attention in class," Naruto said.
"But studying is so boring!" Orenjii complained
"It is not!" Kasumi shouted. "Nothing beats reading a good book!"
Like Sakura, Kasumi was a smart girl in the Academy, and she was the second best in class, after only Sasuke's and Hinata's son Seyatsu. The two had formed a rivalry of sorts similar to that of Naruto and Sasuke. She also had Sakura's temper which she often unleashed on her brother when he did something stupid. It was like Naruto and Sakura when they'd been young, but unlike Naruto, Orenjiii didn't have any special feelings for his sister that prevented him from defending himself.
Kasumi's love for reading was upset as her brother criticized it and she threw her food, a riceball at him.
"Hey!" Orenjii shouted.
"Hey! Come on we're just trying to have a nice peaceful meal here!" Hanako shouted with a sad expression. "No fighting please!"
Of all the kids, Hanako was the least inclined to fight. She'd seen her other siblings fighting, with a few black eyes and bloody noses. She didn't want to see that again, or see her mother get mad. Sakura was still scary whenever she got really mad, they'd had to rebuild their house three times in the last seven years. Their father's fortune from the Uzumaki clan had taken a bit of a blow from them. Good thing they didn't live on a big estate that would have been more expensive.
Sakura looked at her two eldest children. "Yes! No fighting at the table! Kasumi apologize to your brother, and Orenjii you do the same as well!"
The two siblings glared at each other with each of their parents different eyes, green into blue. They didn't apologize right away which caused Sakura to frown.
"If you don't do it by the count of three no dessert tonight!" Sakura growled. "One, two…"
"Okay, okay! I'm sorry!" Kasumi said.
Like her mother Kasumi loved sweet things, especially cakes and candy, but didn't mind spicy food.
Orenjii sighed then said, "Yeah I'm sorry too. I just don't like studying like you or Mom do."
"That's better," Sakura said smiling. "Now lets all try to get along and be a loving family alright!"
They all nodded, with a mixture of happiness and fear.
"And what about you Hanako? What'd you do in your little school?"
Hanako was still only eight years old and hadn't shown as much interest in becoming a ninja like her parents. She was the timid one after all. So she went to a civilian school in the village. Naruto had been surprised and a little disappointed, but Sakura told her daughter it was best to do what made her happy. She could always transfer later to give being a ninja a try. Being a ninja wasn't for everyone in the village afterall, even the daughter of a Hokage. Naruto now accepted that not every ninja's children had to become ninja themselves. It just hadn't occurred to him that one of his children might not want to be a ninja. Hanako would find what she was looking for. She'd helped her mother to make dinner while Kasumi read and Orenjji did some paisho with Shikanamo, the son of Naruto's friend Shikamaru. Both of the Uzumaki twins were driven like their father. While Hanako was more similar to Hinata when the Hyuga heiress had been young, kind and gentle. Of course Hinata was still the same.
"Fine, we had PE, and science today," Hanako said. "Though I don't think I did too well in science."
"Everyone has their strengths Hanako," Naruto said. "But you can overcome the things you're bad at if you work hard enough."
"Thanks Daddy," Hanako said.
"Whatever you decide to do with your life, we're here for you," Sakura said.
The family enjoyed the rest of their meal, had some dessert in the form of ice cream and syrup covered dumplings which were Sakura's favorite. They at times argued, but they still loved each other. That was how it was with family. Hanako helped her mother with the dishes while Naruto and the twins went outside and did some late-night training together.
Kasumi and Orenjii leapt over the tops of the buildings and hid while Naruto chased after them. He could have found them easily with Kurama's or Sage Chakra, but he kept it on his own ability for now. He'd only use Kurama's chakra when he needed it.
Kasumi hid against a gate of the village behind a large sheet that perfectly blended in with the gate. She heard someone scurry past her and glanced out, catching a glimpse of her father. Grinning, she took of the disguise.
"Boo!"
Kasumi jumped and looked back to see her father.
"You fell for the Shadow Clone! Now I got ya you naughty girl!" Naruto said, 'capturing' her in a hug.
Kasumi giggled. Elsewhere another shadow clone found Orenjii in another part of the village. They returned home sweaty and a bit dirty.
"Bathtime!" Sakura ordered.
They each went to their individual baths, though the girls and the parents had to take turns. Then, they turned in and went to bed. Naruto and Sakura in one bed, the girls in their shared room, and Orenjii had one all to himself.
…
Kasumi and Orrenji went to the academy the next day, sitting next to Seytasu Uchiha. Sasuke's son greatly resembled him in his academy years. Though his hair style was more similar to his late uncle Itachi with long bangs on the front, and his eyes were Hyuga white. Kasumi smiled at him, he smiled back and blushed.
"Uh, hi Kasumi," he said shyly with a blush.
"Hey Seytasu, you ready for today's test?" Kasumi asked with a grin.
"You bet!" Seytasu said, his shyness vanishing in the face of her confidence. He had to make sure to not let her outdo him.
Orenjii sighed. "I hate tests. My mom is gonna take away my ramen for a month if I fail!"
"Me too, they're such a drag," Shikanamo said.
Shikamaru's son resembled him as much as Hanako resembled Sakura. Same pineapple hairstyle and a grey outfit.
"I just want to get it over with so we can eat lunch," Chojica, the daughter of Choji said. She was the chubby girl in class and like her father and everyone in their clan had a huge appetite.
"Well I'm not gonna let myself be distracted. Someone has to keep those two on their toes. If they're not careful I'll take the number one seat for myself," Inotan, the son of Sai and Ino said even as he doodled a picture in his notebook.
"Alright class that's enough talking," Iruka Sensei said.
"Yes, I'll be passing out your tests now. You have the whole period to take it. After that you study."
The papers were all handed out. Kasumi, Seytasu, and Inotan all began writing quickly. Shikanamo took his sweet time, glaring at the test in annoyance, all the others worked at a more moderate speed, and Orenjii gritted his teeth at it and circled an answer of the multiple choice section, and looked at the fill in the blank ones with scared eyes. He thought of the ramen in the fridge… no he couldn't lose it!
The end came at last and they handed their test in. More lessons followed, and Orenjii had to pay attention no matter how boring it was or risk more ramen loss in the future. The hours dragged by until finally the class was let loose to go home.
"See you tomorrow Seyatsu!" Kasumi said grinning at the Uchiha heir.
The boy waved, his shyness returning. He then headed off.
…
"Dad, Mom, I'm home!" Seyatsu called as he entered the new Uchiha house.
It wasn't exactly new, since Sasuke had moved in here upon finally permanently returning to the village after his reflection.
"Hey son, how was your test?" Sasuke asked.
"I'm almost positive I got them all right!' Seyatsu said.
Sasuke gave a small chuckle. "That's my boy."
"Good work Seyatsu," Hinata Uchiha said. "How about tomato soup tonight?"
Both the Uchiha Men smiled, since tomatoes were their favorite food. Hinata wore a white shirt with the Uchiha crest on her back with the Hyuga symbol below it, her legs were covered by a long black skirt. They were happy together with their son who would one day pass on the Uchiha name.
They ate dinner and then Sasuke and Hinata went out for a walk while Seyatsu retired to his room. They headed up to the meeting place where they would meet the others.
Naruto and Sakura were on top of the Hokage house holding hands. The Uchiha family joined the Uzumakis in looking out over their village. The sun was setting over the Hokage mountain which now bore Naruto's face at the end. Everything seemed peaceful. But they knew out there somewhere was the remaining, struggling threat that had come back to haunt them.
Where are you? Sasuke wondered. What are you planning?
Only time would tell, and they could only pray they would be ready.
Okay, another chapter done and I'm finally getting back into being able to do two chapters a week. I feel like I'm able to do more writing then ever. I know there are stories out there that have chapters consisting of 10,000 but I've never done that. Very rare for me to go for a chapter that's over 5000. Well, I hope you guys are enjoying my version of the new generation. I haven't made up my mind on who Chojii's wife will be, but I don't mind the red head from cloud personally that was canon, even if I consider most of what happened after Naruto vs. Sasuke finale BS now. But that aside, see you in two weeks and have a happy thanksgiving.
