Walking Dead: Building Your Own Hope

Chapter 10 of my Walking Dead story, enjoy.

Reviews

Wolfgirl2013: Thanks, okay.
Parent12D: Thanks and yeah, it also shows the closeness of the group that they're all on the same page. Yup, he's gone overboard and it's backfired :) Glad you like the development between Andrew and Marissa, it's certainly showing things growing steadily but of course, staying aware of the problems in the background :) Oh yes indeed, Ron gets all that from his father alright, and his father is just the worst, and a doctor too, still it's not gonna work for him this time. Thanks, yeah, a lot is building, both positive and negative, it all depends on how lucky the police get, because he's being damn careful at covering his tracks.
Boris Yeltsin: Thanks, glad you enjoyed both, yeah, there's a lot going on, but luckily Ron has been dealt with.

Now onto the story.

Season 1: Episode 10

Seated in the back seat of her parents car, Laurel bit her lip, still trying to focus her mind.

'Urgh, my head keeps hurting whenever I try to remember what happened…?' She thought sadly. 'This, this isn't right. I feel like I disappointed Carl's dad. How can they catch this guy if they don't have any evidence, but I can't tell them what I can't remember.'

"Laurel." Her mother's voice broke in on her thoughts and she started.

"Y-yeah?"

Her father looked at her after parking the car. "I know it's hard, but you have to not worry about it. There's nothing you can do about what you can't remember."

"Please Laurel." Her mother said. "Just try to focus on getting better."

Laurel sighed but nodded. "I...okay."

With that they got out of the car and entered the house, inside, her sisters were waiting and hurried over to her to make sure she was alright.

"G-Guys, please, I…" Laurel stammered, trying to get some space.

"C'mon now girls, give her room." Her mother said gently. "We're all glad she's back, but she needs a chance to recover herself."

They stepped back, still looking concerned, but Laurel was quietly grateful, they just hoped that she would indeed recover. Still all were worried, wondering just who was behind this and why they were doing what they were doing.

Making her way back to her and her mother's apartment, Sophia happened to be passing the Greene-Rhee house and spotted Enid outside.

"Enid, hey." Sophia called out to her friends, approaching the fence.

Enid looked up and smiled widely and walked over to meet her.

"Hi, what's up?" Enid replied in greeting.

Sophia shrugged. "Not much, just on my way home. So, um...how are you doing, are you okay?"

"I was pretty shaken up, but I'm fine now." Enid replied honestly.

There was a small moment of silence before Enid gave a slight grin which surprised Sophia.

"What's the smile for?"

Enid shook her head. "Well, Ron was arrested for his attempted assault and then...despite the warnings they were given, Pete had the nerve to try and threaten me. Some nonsense about lying about his son and trying to just get him in trouble, not knowing my place and all that shit."

"What, Enid, that's-?" Sophia gasped.

"All taken care of." Enid explained calmly. "I simply reported his threats to the police and they arrested him too."

Sophia laughed at that. "Well, that's brilliant, now he's gone and got himself arrested for being such an idiot. At least we don't have to worry about those punks and can focus on what's going on with these disappearances."

Enid paused for a moment but nodded. "Yeah, we need to be alert for any dangers like that, instead of worrying about a stupid boy and his even worse father."

They agreed and Enid excused herself, having to get ready for dinner that night as Beth was coming around. Sophia smiled and nodded before heading home herself.

Brian couldn't help but wonder, realizing more or less that he and Beth truly were feeling strongly for each other.

'But, after all she's been through and, and the fact we're both feeling the same thing…' He reflected. 'I just, I don't want to hurt her or do anything that might cause her problems. I should…'

He shook his head and cleared his mind, knowing what to do. He made his way downstairs and soon found his parents in the living room. His mother Sherry noticed him enter and smiled.

"Brian, hello, how are you honey?"

"I'm fine mom." He replied with a smile. "Um, can I talk to you guys for a minute?"

They both turned to him and Robert spoke up.

"What's up?"

Brian sat down, letting out a slow breath. "It's, it's kinda complicated. It's just...I'm in love, with Beth Greene."

"Oh, honey…" Sherry whispered.

They both smiled warmly, happy for their son.

"Yeah, it's great, we've not officially started dating or anything just yet." Brian admitted. "But...yeah, we both feel the same, I just...after all she's been through, I don't wanna do anything to hurt her any more."

They both took what he said on board to his relief and then, even more so when they began to give him some advice.

Trying to get things back on track, to be normal again, Beth smiled lightly to herself as she finally found herself doing something much more normal than she had for a while. For the first time since her abduction, she was going around to visit Maggie and Glenn for dinner. Knocking on the door she smiled as Maggie answered.

"Beth, glad you could make it." Her sister greeted her.

Beth smiled and they hugged. "Thanks for inviting me."

They entered and she greeted Glenn too. It was then Enid came down.

"Enid, hi, how are you?" Beth asked.

Enid smiled. "I'm okay now. I'm glad to see you're doing better too."

Glenn then added. "It's been pretty hectic lately...but I think we can try to use this evening to calm down and hope for a better future."

"I couldn't agree more." Beth remarked.

Maggie nodded and soon they were all sitting down, having dinner and Beth was pleased to see that Enid was showing no ill effects of the attempted assault from Ron. She just hoped that she could pull herself together and look to trying to recover. Her main hope was that Laurel would be able to do the same and that hopefully some sort of answer would show itself. That Rick would finally get the guy who did this, hopeful he'd slip up somehow.
