Where did Loona come from?

Not even Loona herself knew and it was something that always left her wondering. And that wondering ended up drawing the curiosity of her new friends.

"You really don't know?" Via squeaked, surprised by the notion that people wouldn't know about their own parents. "I mean, all parents love their kids... right?"

Alan didn't seem to agree with that thought, but the owlette ruled it out as an exception which calmed any distractions away. Still, the topic came up when Via was lamenting her mother's behavior in 'taking Alan from her'. At times she could really act so possessive of him, but Loona knew, deep down, that she was like that too. It was in her nature after all and... Alan just smelled nice and was kind to her. So, it was also a must for her.

It was during that conversation that the fact she didn't know about her parents came up. They may have been aware of her being an orphan, but didn't expect her to not remember who her parents were. Loona just couldn't and she was quite sure that she lost them a very long time ago if that was the case.

But what felt like a matter of fact turned into an investigation to entertain that very day. Surprisingly enough, it wasn't Via that plotted this development, and it was actually Alan that pushed for it. His reasoning? Loona deserved some truth. That's what he said, that's what he stuck by and... Loona was warmed up by that knowledge.

Still, they couldn't exactly tell either Stolas or Stella about it. Such an investigation would have forced them to check some 'unpleasant' places as Via's parents would call them and, having lived for a while in the manor after years on the streets, Loona couldn't help but agree with that assessment. The streets were meant to be horrible as it was where the worst fears of anyone in hell could truly manifest.

But as they were right now, within the car owned by the experienced butler that should be taking care of them while they were on their own and Stolas and Stella were out for businesses, their concern was to now find... a 'Hellhound Brothel'. Loona knew what a brothel was, Alan mentioned that he had met a kind girl to a 'mobile one' and Via was utterly confused by what it was. The explanation she provided to the fellow girl on how this place had girls do some naughty and unpleasant things for money further perplexed Via as she couldn't understand why they would do such a thing.

It was one of those questions she was sure Via was going to bring up from time to time, but not important enough to derail the point of their 'mission'. Alan spearheaded the event as he 'was familiar with how things worked'. Considering how his explanation went, she doubted that he had more experience and familiarity with that sort of place than she had. She did hear of old acquaintances going there and never coming back, so she was very nervous to make a 'wrong step'.

As they entered the building and reached the counter by the reception area, an old Hellhound woman hummed and stared at the three... and at the butler.

"Limeworth, long time no see."

"Madame Alpha, I am afraid this isn't a visit of that kind of pleasure," The old imp admitted calmly, leaving the three kids confused.

The butler, Limeworth, had already... been there before?

The news shocked them, but another hum from Madame Alpha brought their attention back to her.

"Oh, and what is it about then? I hope money is involved because I don't like getting-"

Alan slammed a big green stack on the counter. "We want to ask a few simple questions, Madame Alpha."

The old Hellhound lady stared down at Alan and blinked and then smiled. "What a polite lad. What's your name?"

"Alan," The boy replied. "These here are Octavia and Loona."

The elder nodded, yet her gaze lingered a bit more over to Loona.

"I see and... what did you want to know? This isn't exactly a place for children to be inquiring silly things."

"It's not silly," Via snapped adorably. "We were told by Mr. Detective that brothels were the right places to ask for stuff like finding people."

"Hm? A detective? And what are you looking for?"

"Loona's parents," Alan continuned, and Loona took it as a reason to step closer so that the older hellhound could see her.

"...Oh, I... I see," The old woman looked surprised by this. "And you... do you have anything to work with?"

"I used to live in the Morticium District. Is there someone that was from there too?"

Madame Alpha nodded. "Yes. Yes, I think that I have a few but, if I have to give you someone's trustworthy, then that would be Artemisia."

"Where is she?" Loona pressed on and they had their answer in the form of a piece of paper with an address.

The address felt familiar for some reason, but Loona shrugged it as something she had seen on the streets rather than a place she visited. The car ride that ensued was brief, but she couldn't help but feel a bit burdened by the notion she could end up finding out about her parents. What if they ended up being horrible people like it had been for Alan's parents? What if one was horrible and the one flawed just like with Via's mother and father?

All these questions ultimately resolved in a single thought as she was sandwiched between Alan and Via: it doesn't matter what she learns from this because, by the end of the day, she still had something now to keep by and fight for.

As they arrived at destination, Loona felt a bit more confident. The dread suppressed by the need to not mess this one up. She was the one that actually took the lead and knocked at the right door and... she was soon greeted by a young woman of the hellhound kind. Artemisia was actually a gorgeous lady despite her skimpy outfit.

Her frame was what Loona hoped to aspire as an adult, with the long straight black hair with a single stripe of white feeling fitting in a light-gray fur complex. Her eyes had black scleras, like Loona's, but where Loona's eyes had that red and white complex around the irises, Artemisia's were a mixture of orange-yellow with two calm circles of blackness.

She was wearing what looked to be a short open leather jacket that revealed red sleeveless tanktop, proudly showing a toned midriff and black strings connected to her panties disappearing under her black mini-shorts. She was also barefoot, with the dark fur by her feet forming a thick boots-like situation which comfortably warmed up her lower legs.

"What?" She asked in annoyance, but her irritation seemed to evaporate when she noticed Loona.

Loona knew that expression- she knew her. But... Loona didn't know her. A chance, an opportunity and her silence was taken by Alan as a reason to take over for the introduction.

"Apologies, we were told by Madam Alpha that you could help us finding our friend's parents."

Simple, blunt, but enough to seemingly get them in that house. There was hesitation at first, a weak attempt to deflect from ever knowing them, but Loona refused to believe it and while she expected the fellow hellhound to refuse, the young woman didn't and... she confessed some of the truth.

"You mother... she loved you a lot. I know she used to never once leave you alone and many times clashed with those trying to harass you both."

"W-What about..." Loona's voice faltered a moment, this strange warmth to her chest shaking her up a bit. "What about my father?"

"I... I don't know, Loona. He was just... he was never there."

Oh, that's... sad. But at least someone had cared for her.

"Your mother eventually passed out but she entrusted you to someone she thought she was going to take care of you properly but she just... couldn't. Which is why you were left to be as soon as you were old enough to speak and think."

But why? Why was she ditched like that?

Artemisia didn't know, but the entire event was enough to give her a form of closure as Loona now knew the most important truth and felt fine with it. It was good to know the past, but she had to focus to the present. Yet, as they left, she couldn't help but feel like Artemisia meant more than just someone that knew her story. It felt more... relevant.

And as the car was soon driving away, carrying them home, Artemisia frowned at it by the window, a mournful look on her face as she could only think of something.

"I hope they will give you the life you deserve when I couldn't... little sister.'
