Set in the beginning of Half-Blood Prince, which I don't plan on reading. 8D Xel typed up a description of Snape's house for me.

.

Broken streetlamps send flickering beams of lurid light cascading through his curtains. A reddish residue in a discarded glass is beginning to look like rust or blood or something equally unsavoury. Stifling the urge to shatter it, he rises from the weary couch and stands next to the fogged windowpanes.

If the wind suddenly felt like breathing life into the stale air, his cloak would billow with the drapery. Moonlight could join the silence of the pavement if it hadn't gone senile. He offers no smiles to the dreariness; even a smirk is too much to expect.

He turns away, sick of staring at an infinity of stagnant nothing. Inhaling brings dust to clog his nostrils, and cough cough COU--HACK there's phlegm and spittle and he sinks back onto the sofa and closes his eyes and exhales until only stoicism remains.

Snape's tired.
