The column of people, young and old, moved slowly toward their salvation. It would take several days to reach Helm's Deep, and the men were on high alert. Haraldur rode with Boromir, while Gimli rode with Legolas. Haraldur and Legolas had come to an understanding after Legolas apologized to the Dwarf Prince for his actions so long ago.

"Forgive me, Haraldur; my prejudices blinded me against the Dwarves that my father instilled in me. After leaving his Kingdom and hearing of your accomplishment for your people, I realized how wrong I was. I know it is hard for you to trust me after what I did when you were a child, and we did not start this journey on good terms, but I would like to put that all behind us and start anew."

Haraldur eyed the Elf Prince for a moment, then nodded, "I suppose we can try."

Legolas nodded toward Haraldur and walked away. Aragorn put his hand on Haraldur's shoulder, "I am pleased that you and Legolas have an understanding."

Haraldur nodded, "Now is not the time for petty squabbles. The safety of the people of Rohan is more important."

Aragorn nodded, and the two friends continued toward Helm's deep.

It was a few days later that Legolas went ahead to scout with two soldiers from Rohan. As they looked for danger, Hama didn't notice that a Warg Rider was on the hill above them. The Warg lept off and knocked Hama off his horse. Hama could barely exclaim in terror before the Warg ripped him apart. Legolas quickly loosed an arrow and killed the Warg. He ran towards the orc and slit his throat, "A scout!" He shouted.

At that moment, Warg riders crested the hill and headed in their direction. Theoden rallied his men, and they rode out to meet their enemy; he instructed Eowyn to lead the people to Helm's Deep. She protested at first, but her uncle told her she had to, reluctantly; Eowyn led the people to safety.

The two armies clashed, and a fierce battle began. Boromir and Haraldur worked as a team, dispatching their enemies. Haraldur easily sliced through his opponents with Ringil, the sword that Lady Galadriel had given him, while simultaneously using his magic to help the others. Haraldur would stun the Orcs, giving Theoden's men a chance to dispatch them.

By the time it was over, many of Theoden's men were either badly injured or dead. Haraldur took stock to see if anyone from the Fellowship was injured. As he looked around, Haraldur noticed there was no sign of Aragorn.

"Aragorn!" Legolas looked around and yelled for his friend.

"Aragorn?!" Gimli repeated.

There was a dying Orc lying by the cliff, and Gimli stepped towards him, "Tell me what happened, and I will ease your passing."

The Orc laughed, "He's \[cough] dead. \[Laughs evilly] Took a little tumble off the cliff."

Legolas grabbed the Orc and shook him, "You lie!"

The Orc chortles, then die. Legolas looks down at the Orc's fist and finds the Evenstar pendant. He takes it, runs to the cliff's edge, and looks down to see the great drop and rushing waters below, with no sign of Aragorn. Gimli and Haraldur, and Boromir came to stand beside him.

Legolas asked Haraldur, "Can you use your magic to find Aragorn?"

Haraldur nodded, "Of course, it may take me a moment."

At that moment, King Theoden walked toward the group, "Get the wounded on horses. The wolves of Isengard will return. Leave the dead."

Legolas looked at Theoden in disbelief, but Theoden only squeezed his shoulder, "Come, there is nothing we can do, and I need Master Haraldur's help to tend to the wounded."

The Fellowship reluctantly follows, but not before Haraldur casts his Patronus and instructs it to find Aragorn. The stag nodded and disappeared. Legolas and Theoden looked curiously looked at Haraldur.

"Whether Aragorn is alive or not, my patronus will find him," Haraldur explained.5

The others nod. They helped gather the wounded and made their way toward Helm's Deep. As soon as they arrived, the wounded were taken inside the Hornburg to be treated; Haraldur followed and started healing the men. Over the years, Haraldur had been able to find replacement plants that would aid him in making certain potions. Pain potions and ointments. He was able to recreate essence of dittany and blood-replenishing potions. Haraldur had a stockpile of medicine stored in his pack. He started with the nearest soldier whose arm had been broken when a Warg mauled him. Haraldur quickly waved his hand over the broken bone, which healed instantly. He gave the soldier a pepper-up potion to replenish his strength. Systematically, Haraldur moved to each injured man and healed them.

While Haraldur worked to save the wounded, Gimli informed Lady Eowyn what happened to Aragorn. Eowyn stared at Gimli in disbelief; she couldn't believe that Aragorn had perished. Eowyn swallowed thickly and thanked Gimli for telling her. She left the Dwarf and began to help the others prepare for a siege.

After many hours of working to save the soldiers of Rohan, Haraldur decided to rest for a bit. He walked up to the battlements to have a moment to himself and smoke his pipe. Haladur was waiting for his patronus to return with news. A few moments later, Haraldur was joined by Boromir.

"Would you mind if I join you?" Boromir asked.

Haraldur smiled, "Of course not, my friend."

Boromir pulled out his pipe and also began to smoke. The two stood there in silence. Boromir glanced down at his Dwarf friend, "You seem anxious, Haraldur. What is bothering you?"

"I sent my patronus to look for Aragorn, and it has yet to return. I am worried that perhaps Aragorn is truly lost to us."

Boromir patted Haraldur's shoulder, "Have faith, my friend; perhaps your magic is having a harder time locating Aragorn than you first thought?"

Haraldur thought for a moment, then nodded, "Aye, that could be it. At least, I hope so."

Meanwhile, Aragorn was floating down the river and finally made it to shore. He had a vision of Arwen, and she asked the Valar to bless him. A few moments later, the horse Brego found him. Aragorn slowly climbed onto the horse's back and was about to leave when he saw the light coming closer. Aragorn tensed for a moment; then he noticed a shimmering stag; he knew then that it was Haraldur's spirit animal. The stag stopped in front of him and waited. Aragorn wondered what it was doing, then remembered that he could deliver a message to Haraldur.

Aragorn looked at the stag and spoke to it, "Haraldur, I am fine. I was washed downriver but somehow made it safely to shore. Brego found me, and I am now heading to Helm's deep; I will be there as soon as possible."

With that, the stag nodded and disappeared. Aragorn turned Brego around, and they headed towards Helm's Deep. They rode for, what felt like hours, until Aragorn crested a hill. In the distance, he saw a horde of Urukai marching towards Helm's Deep. He quickly wheeled Brego around and made haste to the Keep. Aragorn needed to warn the others that war was upon them.
