Chapter 5 (EPOV)

Song(s): "Come Undone" by Duran Duran

A/N: Hi everyone!

Thank you so much for the love and support- we love hearing all of your thoughts and predictions. Special thank you to our amazing team...

Let's hear from Edward;)

"I think I know who she is!"

I rolled my eyes at my younger brother. I gave the fucker the most vague description possible, so there was no way he knew this chick. Especially since I didn't even have the slightest idea if she was from the city, let alone Brooklyn. He just loved messing with me. It was usually all fun and games until I pulled out my glock.

"Yeah, then who the fuck is she?" I muttered, irritated, eyeing my watch. I had to get home and let out Bear, my six-year-old Mastiff. He was not only a dog but also my best friend. He was also the only one who didn't give me a fucking headache. He was a bit lazy, but what does he gotta complain about?

"Edward, Edward, Edward," Emmett sing-songed. "You know very well that I know every girl in Brooklyn. I'm even familiar with some of the dead ones. Occupational hazard. You know how that goes, right?" Emmett deadpanned. Food service must have been a freaking joy compared to popping people on the regular.

"Yeah, so what's Marie's deal? What's her last name?" I pursed my lips, shoving my brother as he tried to lean against my Escalade. I just got my whip detailed; no way I needed his fat ass scuffing up the paint.

"See that's what is tripping me up. The name. Can't think of any Maries. In high school, there were a couple Maria Teresas, Maria Antonias—oh and Maria Angelina, can't forget her—but no Maries. To me, it sounds like a middle name. Maybe it was Maria and you heard wrong, bro," Emmett rambled, rolling his eyes at me.

"Are you done?" I twirled my car keys around my finger before I dug into my pocket for my stoges and lighter. I lit mine and offered one to Emmett, but Mr. Goody Two Shoes shook his head.

"No, but seriously, I'll have you know I have yearbooks saved under my bed for these kinds of situations. I have every one within a five-year gap of you and me. All schools in the 'hood. For educational purposes, of course," he boasted. I didn't want to admit it to him, but it wouldn't hurt to take a look through them. Sure, it was a little like trying to find a needle in a haystack, but I had shit else to go on, so what would be the harm? If she was from the neighborhood, then she would have gone to school around here.

I blew up a puff of smoke, looking at the creeper who happened to be my brother. "Let's go see these fucking books then." I extinguished my cigarette against the lamppost and threw it into the street.

Emmett's room looked like a fucking tornado passed through and then shit all over it. I was surprised Ma didn't straighten this shit out. She was almost as anal as I was about my space. Yeah, I was a guy, but I liked my crib clean. This motherfucker was just a fucking slob. Geez. I should send Hoarders in to clean it up.

I stood in the doorway, afraid to go any farther, and Emmett maneuvered under his bed, pulling out a girl's underwear and flinging it at me. Thank God for quick reflexes or else I'd have to explain to Ma that I iced my only brother. I gave him the "don't fuck with me or I'll kill you easily" look, and I mockingly went to backhand him. That was how I got the nickname, EC. It sounds like easy because people think things come easy for me. Or maybe I just make it look that way.

Em tossed me the first yearbook he found, and then he threw the remainder onto his bed.

Nonna was muttering in the hallway, and considering she was still afraid of "my boyfriend" aka her grandson, I shut the door behind me, kicking a pathway for me to walk. I brushed off my brother's bed and thanked God the sheets smelled freshly washed. Who knew who or what he'd done in this bed…

We continued flipping through yearbooks, me scanning the pictures for a glimpse of Marie and Emmett using a Sharpie to draw mustaches on random ass people. Fucking loser.

"Whoa! EC, take a look at this broad. Rosalie Lillian Swan. We went to high school together, and she's banging. I've seen her around the hospital but haven't had a minute to re-introduce myself yet. I think she's got a little sister too. Lemme see if I can find her." Emmett continued to drone on about people I couldn't give two shits about.

He flipped through another yearbook as I answered a text from Alistair, motherfucker wanted to "check in."

I wrote back: "Don't fuck with me, Blondie." He needed to learn who was boss.

"Oh look!" Em shouted too loudly as he yanked me to him.

"What is with you?" I asked, shrugging him off of me.

"This is Rosalie's little sister, Isabella Marie Swan."

I glanced over to the page Emmett was pointing and found something I wasn't expecting. What the actual fuck?

Marie was really Isabella Marie Swan. So much for not being fake like the rest of them.

"Jackass, that's Marie. Isabella is Marie!" I explained, laughing bitterly, ticked off by this revelation.

Why lie about your name? I guess she really didn't want to be found. You'd think I'd be turned off by the lying, but now my interest was piqued.

"That's Marie? Ha! Clearly she never wanted to see you again!" Emmett started doing some sort of dance. I was secretly hoping he'd trip on the shit that was covering the floor and bust his ass. "What are you gonna do now? Find her?"

"Bet." I cradled my face in my hands. "I'm adorable. Why wouldn't she want to see me again?" I snorted, standing up. I was careful not to graze any of the garbage in the room. I really didn't need to get dirty. Blood was one thing, but all this trash was another.

Clapping my hands together, I said, "Well, this has been real, dear brother, but I have better and cleaner places to be." I smirked at him, sneaking out of the room.

I had almost reached the front door when I got a crack on the ass. Fuck! That shit hurt. Nonna needed a padded freaking cane. I turned to see my little grandmother standing there, arms crossed and a wide smile on her face. "Edward, honey, you gotta stop with those cancer sticks. You smell like a fucking ashtray." My jaw went slack. How did she know that but didn't know the poor schmuck down the hall was her grandson?

"Non, I'm sorry. It's been a stressful—"

She cut me off with a wave of her wrinkled hand. "Let me bum one off you," she whispered, giving me her no-nonsense look. Madonna mia, she was scary. Maybe I should have her threaten Alistair.

"Non, you aren't supposed to be smoking anymore." I trailed off as she raised her cane once more.

"Fine, fine." I threw my hands in the air, begging for mercy at this point. Then I dug my hands in my pocket, fishing out a cigarette for my grandmother. I should have her come with me to collect vigs.

After kissing her goodbye, I walked out the front door and climbed into my car, wishing it was my McLaren. It was what I preferred to ride around in, but I didn't want my baby to get fucked up during business hours.

Driving the ten minutes to my crib, I circled for a parking spot. If things weren't as hot as they were right now, I would just park on the corner, screw the yellow lines, but I didn't need any more headaches.

Armed with the knowledge of Marie's true identity, I ran a background check on the broad. Not such a secret anymore. I was still stuck on the fact that she lied about her name. Seriously, I had women throwing their panties at me for a second chance, and this one was lying about something basic so I didn't find her. What a mind fuck! But I can't lie and say it didn't add to my intrigue.

Turned out, bitch lived right here in Bay Ridge. Born and raised like me, so it was funny we never crossed paths before. She was only twenty-one, so I guessed it was probably due to our age gap. It was not like I was running around in bars socializing on the daily. At twenty-seven-fucking-years old, I didn't have time to schmooze for the cooz.

Sure, I'd have a drink or two at whatever club I found myself doing business, but it was usually no social function.

Thankfully the tramps I found didn't require much wining and dining. Sure, I'd taken Lauren to dinner a few times before I laid down the pipe, and there was that one time we hit Miami when I had business down there, but it was casual. Easy for EC.

I hopped in my whip, thinking of all the possible places I could find this chick. She wasn't a typical one—I could tell you that. Maybe I should have Alistair go to her house and run a tail on her.

Nah, that motherfucker would fuck it up. I had to do this solo, at least today. I drove by her crib—she had nice digs, so it looked like she came from money. Her background check said her pops was in business, owned shit. Legit ones too, unlike me. I was clockin' her house when I saw a blonde chick—probably her sister, Rosalie, that Emmett was blabbing about—exit the driveway. I peeked in and saw no other cars. Fuck, she probably wasn't home. I knew her ride. Hell, I hit it in her ride. Deciding that this was a wasted trip, I drove off and decided to call Aro. I needed to know how serious he was about this no-killing the blond douchebag shit.

The fucking guinea didn't answer, and I glanced at the clock on my dash. It was still early in the day, so he was probably dogging his goomah.

I continued driving around, feeling like a bookyak. If I had any sense in me, I would just call Lauren and have her suck my cock. At least I'd get a little release.

My car phone started ringing just as I'd turned the radio up louder. Aro. I lowered the volume and answered on Bluetooth.

"EC, whatcha up to?" He sounded far away. He probably had Irina under his desk blowing him. "You've got the vig from the rocks Paul's been selling?" Aro blew out a breath. Yep definitely getting head.

"Nah, I'm going down there tomorrow. I'm gonna have the new kid come with me. Since I'm training him." I tried to remain calm as I mentioned the mamaluke, but there was only so much patience a man could have.

"Yes, and remember, Edward, no killing. I know he's not like us. At least not yet. I'm sure once you're through with him, he'll be good to go. But for now, consider him untouchable." He groaned. Why the hell was I listening to this?

"Aro, you know I mind my neck, but Alistair … He's too green. Not cut out for this. I mean, I don't want any beef, but…" I broached. This was out of character for me. Usually I did the job and shut the fuck up.

"EC, you will not touch Alistair. Understood? Besides, he's taken a liking to you." I imagined the slimy douchebag, smirking, enjoying me having to eat shit. "Like a brother. Speaking of familia, how's Nonna Liz?" This was a warning. Stay in your lane or I put a hit on you and your loved ones. Point taken.

"Yes, sir." I rolled my eyes, thanking my lucky stars he wasn't in front of me.

"That must have been some pussy." Alistair snickered from the passenger seat. I motioned to backhand the motherfucker. He laughed—the mamaluke really had the balls to laugh. Can't kill him, I chanted, tightening my grip on the steering wheel, pretending it was his neck.

"Shut the fuck up with that. I only scooped you up because we have a job to do after this." He continued to laugh, testing my patience and self-control. "Give me ten minutes without saying anything, and I'll let you keep the money we collect from Paul." He was selling rocks, and usually he was a good little soldier, but he got pinched for his sloppy behavior, so Marcus was punishing him by making him a low man—indefinitely.

On top of this shit, there were also the problems in Little Odessa. Things were getting fucked all around. I probably had pigs following me right now. Let them take me in—they'd find oogatz. The sunlight blinded me through the windshield. What a day to forget my sunglasses.

"You're being sensitive, sir. I'm just trying to make conversation. I even brought you a coffee." He batted his eyelashes, innocently. Fucking asshole. It was like he was taking advantage of the fact that I couldn't kill him. Sick fuck probably got off on torturing me. After all these years, my weakness was a sloppy blond with an annoying mouth. Not to mention the coffee he brought me tasted like ass.

I circled Isabella's block until a green SUV raced out of the driveway. I did a double take and checked the license plate. Yep, it was her car. I had to get a closer look into the driver's seat.

"You know you could be a normal guy and go on Tinder." Alistair fell back in his seat as I floored it.

Of course, driving on the Belt Parkway, every asshole and their mother were on the road, going five fucking miles an hour. Alistair rolled down the window to smoke a cigarette. As he lit the thing, I smirked. "No smoking in my whip." Some things I could control.

He blanched. "What? You just smoked two cigarettes in a twenty-minute period." Bitch still didn't extinguish the stoge.

"While I can't kill you, you won't smoke in my car." I reached under my seat, pulling out my piece. "Aro never said I couldn't pistol whip you." I chuckled as he turned as white as a ghost.

The cigarette became a fixture into the Belt's concrete after that, and he wisely rolled the window back up. "Seth said you've killed hundreds. Is that true?" Alistair inquired, like he had a right to ask me that question. Like I'd answer him.

"Youse need to get a life." I lit another cigarette just to fuck with the asshole. "And don't listen to Seth. He smokes too many fucking trees. Aro had to break him twice already. Once more and he's done. Maybe you can ice him, a quick way for you to crack a hundred." I cackled, turning the radio louder, trying to focus on the task at hand.

At this point, I was tailing Isabella, so I peered into her car then put a little distance between us, not wanting to give myself away just yet.

Once we got off the Belt, we headed toward Prospect. What the fuck was she doing here? Meeting friends, going to school, hitting up the shopping center? I guess normal people things. Normal was overrated if you asked me.

She pulled over on a busy street and attempted to parallel park twice, failing miserably. She obviously needed a lesson. I could think of a few things I'd like to give Miss Isabella a lesson in. One of which was how to wrap her lips around my cock. Though judging by her DSLs, she'd probably be a pro. I may have to put that theory to the test.

"This is more than curiosity, man." Alistair was about to roll down the window and give me away. I had to fucking child lock my whip with this oobatz fucker with me. "Seriously must have been some piece of ass." He looked back to where Isabella was standing on the sidewalk, no doubt staring at her ass. I cracked him across the face. Aro said nothing about a slap here and there…

I wasn't even going to dignify him with a response. I pulled my car into the closest parking spot, much more effortlessly than the chick who had me curious. "Stay here, greaseball. By the way, do you ever shower? Maybe you'd get some pussy if you did." I hopped out of the car and had the wind knocked out of me as I saw Isabella hugging some average joe.

Madonna mia.

She must've had a boyfriend. What did she see in this guy? My dick was an above average size, and this guy looked like he barely had a braggiole, let alone a satisfying one.

This was more than a greeting hug; there were emotions behind it. The way they looked at each other—way too familiar. I didn't like it one bit. Fuck!

Well, if she was fucking around on her boyfriend, he deserved to know who she stepped out on him with. Besides, there was no comparison.

I stalked over to "Marie" and tapped her on the shoulder, waiting for her to turn around. As she did, she gawked at me. I decided to put her out of her misery by speaking first. "Oh hello, Marie, or do you prefer Isabella?" I sucked my teeth, trying to hide my amusement because I was actually pretty pissed to be toyed with like that.

"Ed-Edward." She gasped.
