The general snapped his fingers as a staff officer pulled out a map. "Right now, our scouts got into contact with some local civilians... seems like the most Italians hate the Germans now since they switched sides and are now occupying their country. Those scouts have reported back that the right flank where the 34th Infantry is about to come in is about to run headfirst into a Panzer grenadier force, maybe a whole regiment's worth.".

Steve looked at Peggy the moment the general mentioned the 34th. The same unit that Bucky was with. Peggy nodded as she knew what Steve's thinking, and replied, "Right flank, so that's the east portion of the army. Where specifically?", wishing she would see the map easier from her position.

She and Steve is sitting in lotus positions, looking at the general and the staff in a camp tent as they didn't want to lay across or even worse, kneeling as Steve knew that too well for Peggy doesn't need to be treated as a... well, fantasy toy to the soldiers.

"Agropoli.", the general said. "They take over the right flank from us and they'd be stronger since they didn't land yesterday, but they'll be moving in any minute, and it'll be just as bad a mauling as it was for us if those Germans aren't cleared from the town and area.".

Steve narrowed his eyes, "Then that's our first mission. That can't be too far for us, right, Captain Carter?", and Peggy grinned, "It's 2 hours for the normal human, but for us, easily 30 minutes if we sprint.".

The general nodded, "Excellent! Off you go, Captain Carter and Captain Rogers. Show those Germans what's what.", and the duo saluted, "Yes, sir!", getting up, with Peggy guiding Steve as they turned on to head south.

The two of them started moving; not running too fast but certainly getting a fast pace in with their movement; though they were making sure to stay off the main roads since the armies would need them to link up the respective bridge heads. Peggy was honestly surprised upon first hearing how the British/American combined force in the north around Salerno still hadn't linked up with the southern landings but hopefully that would be over by the end of the day. Right now, she was focused on the mission they had getting to Agropoli and driving the Panzer grenadiers back.

Steve didn't bother to talk as he is worried and focused on the mission, and Peggy knew what he's feeling. After all, his pseudo-brother, his best friend is down there. From what Steve told her in conversations over the past week about Bucky, his parents had passed away from early childhood and late teenagerhood as well, yet he still has four sisters, and his eldest sister has a daughter, making him an uncle.

And soon, under 30 minutes, they saw the German Panzers army in the town and area easily as they came up.

"Looks like they're already beginning to set up.", Steve observed. "Nothing too strong though, some motorized artillery, halftracks, Opel Blitz trucks, a few tank destroyers and anti-tank guns... certainly a regiment at least.".

"So, you are thinking of a plan of attack then?", Peggy asked. "Well, focus on those large caliber artillery guns and tanks. There's not many of them and they've got the biggest guns compared to the rest of them...", Steve replied.

Peggy grinned, "You take the left, I take the right?", and Steve winked, "Yep.", before squeezing her hand quickly for a moment before moving to the left, going around, and Peggy did the same, moving to the right.

Peggy went to do a mix of dance and leapfrog while Steve went to do a mix of dance and kickball, attacking the artillery guns and tanks while avoiding the building as best as they could.

The sheer chaos that the two delivered was a wave of stunned responses. The Germans were completely taken aback by what had come. They thought they were the only ones with a giant solider, and yet the Allies clearly were throwing two at them. Maybe a bit smaller, but that didn't stop some of the Hummel and Wespe armored artillery and the Stug III assault guns from being thrown around and crushed like they were food cans.

The 34th Infantry cheered and laughed as they saw the two giants destroying the German equipment, and James 'Bucky' Buchmann Barnes widened his eyes in shock as he heard the giant woman call out, "Hey, Steve, wanna beat me on the score?!".

The giant man laughed heartily as he smirked, "Is that right, Peggy? I think I got more tanks than you!", and Bucky gasped, recognizing that familiar voice, and those blue eyes, and that blonde hair, but he's not thin or small! Gods, he's a Goliath of a giant, and may he dare, even handsomer than Bucky himself.

"You alright, Barnes?", one of Bucky's squad mates tapped him on the shoulder as their landing craft were now only a mile away from landing on the small beaches. "Uh, get back to me on that in a few hours when things calm down...", Bucky said.

The squad mate blinked in confusion before shrugging, "Alright, Barnes. Come on, let's get the bastards while the giants take care of the big stuff.".

Bucky nodded, "Right, let's go.", and followed his squad mates into fighting the Germans, not staying back and doing nothing when the giants are destroying the machines.

The two giants continued their spree as they smashed any vehicle that they could see with the iron cross. The large caliber guns were quickly taken care of and the two now were dealing with the smaller guns that were trying to fire back at them. Some couldn't turn and move fast enough before Peggy and Steve had already moved out of the firing radius.

And under incredible time, between the soldiers and the giants, the German regiment was taken care of, and the two giants weren't even harmed at all. Sure, bigger targets are easier targets, but when they are faster targets, they are harder targets then.

Of course, they did take their share of a few hits from small arms fire and even a larger 75 round or two from a few PAK anti-tank guns that got a bead on them. But the smaller MG and rifle fires were practically like gnats landing on their skins while the larger rounds felt like a finger tapping them. It certainly proved that at least for now, they were fairly immune to most weapons at the moment.

The two of them watched as much of the remaining regiment fled back down the road even further south; the two of them decided it wasn't necessary to pursuit since the Germans were broken for the time being, and it was better to focus on helping the 34th come ashore safely.

A couple of hours later, after the town was put back together, with the Italians thanking the 34th Infantry and other allies, with Steve and Peggy resting on the side of a cliff, and Bucky finally found a moment to reunite with Steve.

"34th and the 36th have linked up for sure now, there was nothing in the way when we got here... and some of the division has been pushing further inland. Certainly at least the southern half of the invasion is probably safe for now.", Steve said as he and Peggy were sitting.

"That's good, I get the feeling they'll probably need us in Salerno to sort things out up there in the next day or so.", Peggy nodded.

"I don't believe it...", the two of them heard a loud voice near them as Steve turned around to see Bucky walking towards them. "I'm not dreaming this right now, am I?". Steve had to chuckle hearing that.

Steve gave him a familiar grin, "Nope. It's great to see you, Bucky.", and Bucky laughed in amazement, "It's really you, Steve-o! How did this come to happen? You're, well, huge and different!".

"Well, I'm not sure if you have the clearance for some of the information.", Steve shook his head. "So, I guess details are not allowed, but basically, got picked into a special project that you can clearly see, improving my whole body and then making me 50 feet tall. Same as Peggy here, oh, of course, introductions are needed.".

Peggy chuckled warmly, "I am Captain Margaret Carter, but I prefer to be called by Peggy. You must be James 'Bucky' Barnes. Steve has told me a lot about you.", with a nod and smile.

Bucky bowed his head lightly, "Nice to meet you, Ms. Carter. Not all of it, I hope.", with a chuckle, "I have tons of stories about Steve when he was an adorable, clumsy kid.".

Steve blushed, "Bucky, don't you dare!", and Peggy giggled softly, "Looks like you were right, Steve. He's blunt and sarcastic when he wants to be.".

Bucky smirked, "And proud of it! Sort of late in the war, timewise, but you two are helping around, right? It's really bad, Steve. Prison camps, town invasions, and of course, mass chaos...".

"Yeah, we've heard about some of those camps in Germany from what little information is able to trickle out...", Steve said. Whispers of the horrors of the concentration camps were being leaked for a few years but the true scale of horror and evil was still mostly unknown to almost all those outside the camps.

"Certainly hasn't been smooth sailing for us; the Germans and even the Italians, back in North Africa were putting up quite a fight.", Bucky said. "And today would've been a disaster had you two not showed up.".

Peggy smiled, "It's good to know that we made a good change in the tide of war off the cuff today. And don't worry, James, we're not quitting on our allies on the first day, we're sticking around, and we will see to make sure that the war will be finished on our terms, one way or another.".

Bucky grinned, "First, please call me Bucky. You darn earned my respect, and if Steve vetoes for you, I'm all in to help out any way for you guys to make more changes. Second, if you're talking about the giantess, I heard things. She's real vicious. Unlike you, she doesn't care who's in the way as long as she destroys whatever's on her list. Why, I heard many fellows nicknaming her Eris.".

"Doubt that's her real name but it at least it's better than just calling her 'her' or something.", Peggy said. "Well, I certainly hope we don't run into her any time soon; much rather we be the ones with the giant advantage rather than the Germans.", Bucky nodded.

Steve smiled, "I hear you. But for now, I and Peggy will probably stick close to Italy, and then probably get deeper into Europe north or east.", and Peggy grinned, "And of course, give the Germans and their friends the surprise of their lives.", with a nod.

"Well, word will probably travel fast, one way or another. If not for German word of mouth, then probably our newsreels.", Bucky said. "Didn't see the cameras when we landed.", Steve recalled.

"Think they were held back on the ships since the landings weren't so easy... at least now we probably should start to be able to move inland and link up with the Brits 8th Army from the South and the opposite coast of the peninsula... if those Red Devil airborne guys took Taranto and the rest of them are driving up the coasts.", Bucky replied.

Peggy nodded, "That's where we're going next for tomorrow.", and Bucky grinned, "That's great. Say, have you eaten yet?".

Steve shook his head, "Not since yesterday, no.", and Bucky nodded, "I'm on it. I will talk with my commander, and we'll see what the town got for ya. After all, you're literally heroes today.".

Peggy smiled, "That would be wonderful, and tell the commander of yours that the Italians will be paid for dinner. If I know Steve, and I do, it's better to give people a job than nothing, if only for a night and morning.".

"Still, I wish I could've explained more to him, about what happened... and maybe even us.", Steve sighed.

"I'm sure we'll probably get a chance to tell him soon, we just have to wait to see if we're able to bring him into that confidence. I don't want you to be court marshaled by telling him anything he's not supposed to know.", Peggy said. "And... I think he might have already figured us out.".

Steve chuckled lightly, "Bucky is smart, and he knows how to keep a secret. And for us...Do you really want to keep it on the low down? I mean, I know I can't start or end a day without a kiss with you, Peggy, especially when you're my queen of my heart.", reaching to squeeze her hand.

"I love it when you say that.", Peggy smiled as she looked into his eyes to just see the love that he had for her. "I honestly don't really care if people know or don't know about what we are to each other; I guess I'm just thinking in terms of what our COs would say. That maybe now's not the best time for us to have these feelings or moments...".

Steve smiled, reaching up to caress her cheek, "Have you forget that we're 50 ft tall once again? I know I can fight as long as I know you're around. You are stronger than ever, and you saw that most weapons are only like tickles or poking fingers, and you can do a mean punch. I am proud of you, Peggy, and I love you so much.".

Peggy shook her head as she chuckled, "You're right... I guess I am forgetting our size at times, it really doesn't feel like it when you stare out to the sea. And thank you for telling me that, Steve, I love you too.".

Steve smiled, and leaned in to kiss her on the lips, and Peggy sighed contentedly as she kissed him back, relaxing in their embrace like they're kicking back on the couch or something, and soon, welcomed dinner happily, tucking in, and went to have a quiet night, with Bucky informing them that the soldiers are already calling them Captain America and Captain Britain, and the couple was not too surprised as Phillips warned them of his feeling about that possibility.

And so, their lives in war began, with the couple taking missions every day or few days, going to different locations, driving up the German back up over the Italian borders, destroying machinery, saving towns, and even laid traps in coordinated attack plans by the British, the American, and even the French as they came around, and before they knew it, it was two months, with breaks on the weekends and even rare days on the week, the couple became famous, especially with newsreels showing their strength, their ingenuity, and their love as the cameras caught them on their best days and bad days.

Despite what Churchill and Allied planners were thinking, the Italian front was not an easy doorway into Germany but a brick wall that was a slow grind through the mountains. Albert Kesselring, commander of Army Group C opposing the Allies knew how to use the terrain against them. The Germans, once they knew they were unable to drive the Allies back into the sea, fell back to a series of defensive lines; the major one being the Gustav Line.

Thanks to Peggy and Steve though, the lines were broken in several places, but Rome was still out of reach come the November weather before Allied High Command called for a halt to offensive actions because of the abysmal terrain. Both sides would take their time to lick their wounds before the next fight which meant that for the Allied giant and giantess, it meant some time to relax and no better way to do it than to spend some time in the recently liberated Naples.

Steve and Peggy smiled as they looked over Naples from their spot upon Monte Spina, and Steve sighed contentedly as he held Peggy in his arms, "Without the lights on, the stars are beautiful, but not as beautiful as you.".

"Must you always flatter me almost every moment we're together, Steve?", Peggy asked as he nodded. "Of course, you deserve it, you're such a wonderful woman who deserves the world.", Steve said.

"Careful, Steve, there's a man in Germany who thinks that he deserves it.", Peggy teased. "Well, I hope we get a chance to meet him face to face so you can show just how wrong he is when he's in the palm of your hand.", Steve joined in with the joke.

Peggy smirked, "He'd probably rant at best, probably act like a brat on a tantrum at least.", and Steve chuckled, "Either at the fact that he lost, or the fact that you're an American/British woman?".

Peggy giggled, "Oh, definitely both of the facts.", and Steve smiled wryly, "That'll be quite the day to see. And having the woman I love, threatening Schimdt, with Eris the giantess down at our feet, I bet there will be cameras to see that we won the war, and they lost, and it will be all thanks to us.", kissing Peggy's lips, and Peggy kissed him back, their embrace becoming passionate than gentle.
