Reviews:
Enigmus-288: Yes. He will get revenge eventually. It'll just take time. For the moment though, this chapter was the last of the major torture he's been through thus far. At least as far as I have planned.
ZDHoover: Fair. This was meant to be the darker timeline so he was supposed to suffer more in this one. I get that it's not everyone's cup of tea, so to speak. That being said, what do you think would have happened if he tried to kill himself? Do you think he would succeed? Because I guarantee he wouldn't. Here's what would have happened if he tried. Lucifer can see literally everything that happens in Hell as he is effectively omnipresent there, whenever he chooses to be. So he is constantly monitoring Danny. So the moment Danny tried to kill himself, Lucifer would intervene and stop him before he could. Then Danny would be put in hand-cuffs or shackles he couldn't just phase through so he couldn't try again, and he would be put under suicide watch. He wasn't as concerned about other people suffering because he disobeyed Lucifer so much as he was concerned about his own existence getting even worse and suffering more than he already was, which would have definitely happened. He may have wanted to kill himself, but at no point was that ever actually an option for him and he knew it.
Several months had passed and Danny had been introduced to Kosm and Calculus, whom he had started learning from. Kosm mainly taught him ghost magic and trained him in the use of his regular ghost powers. Calculus, on the other hand, was more than happy to teach him all about science and technology, though he did run several tests and experiments on Danny too.
One of Calculus' tests apparently proved that Danny's core was highly adaptable and thus he could gain any and all ghostly or demonic powers, including the ghost powers of the ancients or the demonic powers of the seven deadly kings. So Calculus and Kosm started training him to use their powers. He had somewhat of a natural aptitude for Calculus' ability to manipulate technology, but Calculus' ability to manipulate the laws of physics in an area and Kosm's ability to manipulate space were both extremely complicated and difficult to learn.
When his ghostly ice powers started to develop and he was unable to control them, Kosm had been able to teach him to control them. His demonic fire powers developed shortly afterwards and Charlie was able to help him learn to control them too.
Octavia had started coming with him to hang out with Angel Dust and Cheri Bomb every so often. However the entire dynamic of all four of their friendships had changed the night Octavia had met them and Danny got drunk. Danny didn't remember what happened that night or what he said but for some reason they seemed to be treating him differently. So he pretty much just assumed he told the three of them the truth in his drunken stupor. After all, what else could he have said or done to have caused the sudden change?
It frustrated him that his friends were treating him differently now but he tried to just live with it since he didn't want to risk driving away or alienating the only people he cared about in Hell. To that end he never drank as heavily again because he didn't want to risk saying something else that might change their behavior towards him even more. He had become willing to have a glass or two of champagne, wine, or beer while hanging out with his friends, but he never had enough to get truly drunk again. And he still wasn't willing to try drugs.
It was now a few minutes before extermination day. He had spent the day helping out at the orphanage to ensure they were fully prepared to spend the next twenty four hours in the underground bunker beneath the orphanage. An underground bunker which Charlie and Kosm had both helped him reinforce with a combination of demonic and ghostly anti-angelic wards. And given how powerful Charlie and Kosm were, there was no way the wards were going to fail unless the seraphim themselves got involved. Fortunately that had effectively a zero percent chance of happening as if the Seraphim did get involved they would be coming after Danny not the orphans. So the kids and staff were going to be completely safe.
A little after dinner, several hours before midnight, all of the staff and orphans were led into the bunker and Danny used his clones to go around the orphanage and make sure no one was left behind and all the kids had everything they wanted from their rooms. After that he went back to the castle.
He stared out the window of his room as warning sirens suddenly began blaring all throughout the city, signaling to all the inhabitants of Hell the Extermination was upon them and they only had a few minutes to hide. He wasn't worried about being spotted as he stared out the window. If the angels actually managed to get to him to kill him, he would let them do it in fact he would welcome it, but he knew he wasn't that lucky.
After a few minutes the sky seemed to rip open as a massive white portal opened above the city and angels began to spill forth into Hell.
Danny knew the same scene was being repeated in every city in every ring of Hell.
He continued to stand there and watch for a couple hours, staring longingly up into that massive white portal. Was his family up there through that portal? Were Sam and Tucker? Or were any of them in the Ghost Zone? He desperately wished he could just phase through the wall, fly up to the portal, and go through it to find out. He assumed Heaven didn't want him in Hell any more than he wanted to be there himself so maybe they would even let him through if he asked. And if they didn't let him through and instead tried to kill him on the spot? Well, that was fine too. But no. He knew if he tried, Lucifer would stop him long before he could get anywhere even remotely near that portal.
Eventually Danny sighed and said, "Hey Clockwork… I know you're not here or whatever, but from what Kosm has told me I know you can probably hear me… Why…? Why did you do this to me? I… I never wanted to be like him. Especially after he murdered everyone I loved. And I still don't. If you just left me back on Earth, it would have been fine. Heck even locking me up in Walker's prison forever would have been better than this… I hate you… I hate you so much… I hate you for putting me in this situation…I hate you for causing me so much suffering… I hate you for separating me from my friends and family… I hate you for making me go through all of this despite the fact you knew what would happen to me… I. Hate. You… And I can never forgive you… But… You already knew that, didn't you?"
Danny didn't know this, but in the Ghost Zone, Clockwork listened to his words and nodded solemnly. The Avatar of Time didn't blame Danny for his hatred. Far from it. In his mind such feelings were completely justified, even if there was little the Ghost of Time could have done about it.
[In Heaven]
Michael watched as the extermination began. It was the only time of year he was able to see everything in Hell with the same omnipresent view he normally had for all of Heaven. Similarly it was the only time Lucifer could see into Heaven in the same way.
He watched as his exorcists descended into hell and began exterminating demons. He watched as demons caught outside tried to resist and fight back and were slaughtered. He watched as some Overlords chose to be outside and actually managed to put up a fight. He watched all of the seven deadly kings in all seven rings and saw something strange.
They weren't doing what they would normally do during extermination days. Satan would normally be out hunting and slaughtering every exorcist he could find. Azmodeus would normally be trying to capture them for his perverse enjoyment. Beelzebub would normally be trying to capture them to devour their flesh. Mammon and Leviathan would both normally be out killing them to steal any weapons or such that caught their fancy. Instead all of them seemed to be sitting and waiting. The only one doing what he would normally do was Belphagor, who was just sleeping through the entire thing as per usual.
To say he found it eerie was an understatement.
He checked Heaven to see if anything unusual was happening, but there wasn't. Everything was normal. He continued watching Heaven for a while just to confirm nothing was happening, before eventually looking back into Hell.
He saw Daniel Fenton standing in a window, looking up at the portal. And after some time passed, he eventually heard Daniel's words to Clockwork. He grew sad and frustrated as listening to the boy confirmed in his mind that Daniel wasn't evil, at least not yet. He was sad that an innocent boy was forced to suffer in Hell as a pawn of Lucifer with no way out and he was frustrated that he couldn't do anything about it. But his hands were tied. There was truly nothing he could do. He just had to prepare for when the boy did finally fall and became a weapon of Lucifer's. And that's what Danielle was for. To be his own weapon to counter Daniel, as much as it pained him to think of her as such.
Sitting on his throne, he shifted his gaze back to Heaven for a moment and looked at Danielle, sleeping peacefully in her room. A tiny fragile thing, nothing like the strong nigh-invincible warrior he needed her to be. All he could see as he looked at her, was his daughter, and it killed him to know she would eventually have to fight in a war that would dwarf even Lucifer's original rebellion. She shouldn't have to be subjected to such horrors. She should be living a nice peaceful existence in Heaven for the rest of eternity. Unfortunately, it wasn't that fate wasn't always kind but rather that fate didn't always have a choice in the matter, as Clockwork had taught him.
He shook his head. He wished things could be different but they couldn't. So he just had to deal with it and try his best to ensure Heaven would survive the coming war.
He shifted his focus back to Hell and continued to watch.
Several more hours passed and it was nearly sunrise, or what passed for it in Hell. And that's when he noticed something that chilled him to his core. A group of arch angels flew out of the portal carrying several former mortals who had ascended upon their deaths. The former friends and family of Daniel Fenton.
Eyes widening in horror he checked Heaven and saw that the five of them were indeed missing, meaning they had been kidnapped by Lucifer's spies in Heaven while he had been distracted watching the extermination.
Michael frowned. So that was their plan. Clever. But not clever enough. He sent a message to all of the exorcists to slow those archangels down while he sent the seraphim to apprehend them and bring their victims back.
At least he would have had his mind not run headlong into a barrier preventing him from contacting the exorcists. He tried to break through the barrier but found it extremely difficult. It was a battle of wills between him and Lucifer, he realized. He might be able to win it if he kept it up, but he wouldn't be able to do so fast enough to have the exorcists slow down the traitors.
Growling he sent a message to the Seraphim instead, ordering to enter the portal and race to intercept the traitors.
He received confirmations in response as the Seraphim immediately rushed into action.
The traitors had a head start so it would be a close thing, but the seraphim should have been able to stop them…
Emphasis on should have as Gabriel reported that there was a barrier blocking them from going through, which they couldn't break. Lucifer was keeping them out.
Michael tried to assist them in breaking down the barrier but it was useless. Even working together they wouldn't be able to break it fast enough. All he could do was watch in horror, helpless to stop the tragedy that was about to happen.
[In Hell]
"It seems your informants were correct, dear. Michael has just attempted to deploy the Seraphim. How foolish. What was he trying to accomplish? Even if they managed to get inside, I would have slaughtered them all before they could have gotten within a thousand feet of the boy. It's odd… If this was an assassination attempt as your informants said, it was incredibly ill-concieved… Michael should be smarter than this." Lucifer said, sitting in his throne with his eyes closed as he held Michael and the Seraphim back.
"Strange indeed. Though I'm sure they must have a plan if they were so confident as to risk the Seraphim. Perhaps they developed a weapon of sorts that they assumed would be capable of letting the Seraphim fight you? Something akin to the armor Daniel used to battle Pariah Dark, perhaps?" Lilith suggested.
Lucifer hummed disapprovingly. "Hm… I don't think that's the case. They don't seem to be wearing such armor and it is no more difficult to hold them back than I would expect… Still, I suppose I shall have my spies investigate later to find out. And if that does turn out to be the case… Well… I suppose it's a good thing the embodiment of science and technology decided to side with us, yes?"
"Of course, my love." Lilith said, smiling at him. "Calculus will be an invaluable asset in the coming war. As will Kosm."
Suddenly the door to the throne room opened and Danny walked inside. "You called me?" He asked in the defeated tone he had taken on ever since the Helsa incident.
"Indeed I did. I knew you were probably awake, so I thought we might talk a bit." Lilith said, turning her head to look at Danny.
Suddenly the windows shattered and angels flew in, carrying several people. Danny's blood ran cold as he recognized the people almost immediately. His parents, his sister, Sam, and Tucker. And all of them had weapons held up to their heads. Said weapons seemed to pull in the light around them ominously, darkening the room slightly, in a way completely opposite to the radiance of exorcist weapons.
"What? What's ha— Wait… No… No! LET GO OF THEM!" Danny shouted furiously. The temperature dropped drastically as Danny's claws, horns, and wings emerged and his eyes started glowing red.
"Danny…? Is… Is that you?" Sam asked, staring down at him in shock.
"Danny, what's going on?! Why are you here in Hell?!" His mother demanded, sounding terrified.
"What happened to you, son? Why do you look like that?" His father asked.
"You have to listen to me, these guys grabbed us and dragged us all here against our will! I don't know what's going on but I think they're trying to use us against you!" Jazz shouted, struggling in her captor's grip.
"Danny, whatever they want, don't listen to them!" Tucker exclaimed nervously.
"Daniel Morningstar. Surrender and accept execution immediately or else." The angel holding Danny's mother at gunpoint demanded.
"I… I can't! Lucifer, Lilith, please! I'll do whatever you want but please! Help!" Danny pleaded.
Lucifer's eyes opened but he scowled and grit his teeth. "I can't! It's taking all of my concentration to hold off Michael and the Seraphim! Lilith dear? Dispose of these pests, would you?"
"Hold! Try to interfere and they die! Daniel, you have until the count of three to give yourself up!" The angel that was apparently leading the group shouted. "One!"
Danny frantically looked back and forth between Lilith and the angels holding his real family hostage. "Can we just talk about this?!" He pleaded desperately.
"Two!"
"Don't do it, Danny! I don't care what these angelic jerks do to us, just don't do it!" His father shouted at him, while trying and failing to get free.
Lilith was chanting something.
"WAIT!" Danny shouted, launching himself towards one of the angels at random sending all three of them tumbling to the ground. Danny tried to roll to aim at another angel so he could blast them with a mix of ecto and infernal energy, however he was just moments too late.
"Three!" The lead angel shouted. Suddenly four gunshots went off.
Then, suddenly, the angels were surrounded by pitch black arrows before the arrows shot forth and impaled them, sending them and the corpses of the ones Danny failed to get to in time crashing to the ground.
Upon hearing the gunshots, Danny's entire world completely shattered. "NOOOO!" He screamed. He was on the verge of unleashing a ghostly wail in his grief when he saw movement out of the corner of his eye. The angel he had knocked down had gotten back up and was aiming their weapon at the one he managed to save.
Moving at speeds that were quite literally faster than light, Danny tackled the angel again, crashing through a wall of the castle and through several more buildings until he and the angel were outside of the city all together. Now fully transformed, Danny intentionally flew the two of them into the ground only to turn intangible right as they collided with it creating a massive crater as they struck the angel struck the ground with all the force of a meteorite.
Not waiting for the dust to clear before turning tangible again, Danny proceeded to start beating the Angel furiously with his fists. "YOU BASTARDS! YOU KILLED THEM! YOU KILLED MY FAMILY! YOU KILLED MY FRIENDS! YOU FUCKING MURDERERS! I'LL KILL YOU! I'LL TEAR YOU APART! RAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" Danny screamed in a ghostly wail that sounded more twisted and monstrous than any he had produced before. He didn't realize it at the time but this was because in his rage Danny subconsciously charged the wail with more infernal energy than ecto-energy making it more demonic than ghostly, thus corrupting what it would have normally sounded like.
The angel tried to fight back but that just prompted Danny to rip its arms off before continuing his rampant assault punching and tearing at the angel with his razor sharp claws.
It managed to kick him off of it and attempted to fly away but Danny pounced on the now armless angel before it could escape and proceeded to rip the wings off its back.
Kicking the angel and forcing it to roll over, Danny pinned it down and proceeded to plunge one of his claws into its stomach before violently ripping out its guts, all the while he was still releasing his demonic equivalent to a ghostly wail.
At that point everything started to become blurry as Danny used up too much of his energy before everything went black.
The next thing he knew, he woke up laying in his bed with his head throbbing in pain. Groaning in pain, he sat up and clutched his forehead with one hand.
""Danny!"" Two people exclaimed and suddenly he was embraced on two sides by two different people.
Looking he saw Charlie and saw someone else in dark clothes with white feathery wings on their back. Seeing that, he remembered everything that just happened.
"Sam…? Sam! You're okay!" He exclaimed, returning the hugs to both of them.
"Yeah, Danny… You saved me… Though… Um…" Sam muttered awkwardly.
"The others weren't so lucky." Lilith said, sitting in a chair elsewhere in the room.
A mix of rage and sadness welled up within Danny. Turning intangible, he phased through Sam and Charlie before floating off his bed and standing up before turning tangible again. "It's your fault… It's all your fault! Why didn't you or Lucifer help me?!" Danny shouted furiously at Lilith.
"I tried. Unfortunately those were archangels so I had to use a stronger spell and I was just an instant too slow to start my incantation. Believe it or not, but I did genuinely try to save your family and your other friend, Daniel. As for why Lucifer didn't intervene, the Seraphim were trying to break into Hell to assassinate you and he had to hold them back. That alone wouldn't have stopped him from intervening, but Michael was trying to help them break through Lucifer's barrier so he had to devote all of his concentration to that in order to stop them." Lilith said, unfazed by Danny's rage.
"You expect me to believe that?! After all the other bullshit you put me through?! Even if he can't lie, I know you can!" Danny shouted.
Suddenly Danny felt a hand on his shoulder. Looking he saw it was Charlie. "Danny, I know you're upset, but I promise you mom really did try to save them."
"How would you know?!" Danny snarled at her. He didn't shout at her like he shouted at Lilith, but he couldn't help but snap at Charlie a bit for defending Lilith.
"Because I saw the bodies and I know the spell mom used. It was a summoning spell. She used it to summon some anti-angelic arrows left over from his rebellion that Dad had stored away. I can promise you that was the fastest spell I know of that she could have cast that had any chance whatsoever of saving your friends. If I had no choice but to fight, it's probably what I would have used. Though I would have tried to aim for places that wouldn't kill them… Arch angels are no joke, Danny. They're all as powerful as the Ars Goetia. So quick and easy parlor tricks, even from someone as strong as Mom, wouldn't even scratch them…" Charlie told him.
"No… I can't accept that… There had to have been something one of them could have done! There had to!" Danny said, shaking his head as angry tears rolled down his face.
"There wasn't. Not that either of us could think of in the heat of the moment at least. If there's anyone you should be angry at, it's Heaven for doing this in the first place." Lilith said.
"This has to have been some sort of plot… You and Lucifer must have had something to do with this… There's just no way that…" He couldn't even finish the thought, just shaking his head in denial. He just couldn't accept that this wasn't Lucifer and Lilith's fault somehow.
"Uh… Danny? I don't know the whole situation down here but, uh… I can tell you that those were definitely real angels. They grabbed us out of your parents' house in Heaven in our sleep and dragged us down here. Demons and fallen angels can't get into Heaven, from what everyone up there says. So… They were all actual angels." Sam told him.
Danny gave her a look as he could feel his mental barriers starting to crumble. He didn't want to accept that Heaven was at fault for this. Because if he accepted it, he would want to side with Lucifer and burn Heaven to the ground for what they did. After all, Heaven was supposed to be good and Lucifer was objectively evil, so siding with him and destroying Heaven would make him evil too. So he really didn't want to accept it but based on what everyone was saying, it was getting harder and harder to refute it.
It was evil… Wasn't it? But they murdered his family… Good guys don't murder innocent people… Did that make Heaven evil? But Danny knew from first hand experience Lucifer was evil, so they should be good… But nothing they had done so far made them seem like the good guys in any capacity.
They were real angels… Actual angels from Heaven held his family hostage and murdered them…
Dark green, close to black, ichor seeped from his hand as his claws, which he just now noticed were out, stabbed deep into his palms. His currently razor sharp teeth were clenched so tight he might have been vaguely concerned they might break if it weren't for his ability to regenerate.
The more he continued to think about it, the more pure hatred began to take root in Danny's heart. Not just hatred towards Lucifer and Lilith, no. Hatred towards Heaven.
"I… I need some time to think…" Danny muttered, looking down at the ground.
"Of course. Come, Charlie, let's give your brother some space." Lilith said before standing up and leaving the room.
Sam stood there for a moment before starting to follow after them.
"Sam, wait… Can you stay? I… I need to think but… It's been so long…" Danny requested.
"Sure, Danny…" Sam said, before walking over and sitting down on the edge of Danny's bed.
Danny sat down next to her and looked down at the ground.
"Sooo… Uh… You were adopted by the devil himself, huh?" Sam asked uncomfortably.
"Unfortunately… Not just adopted either. Lucifer did something that warped my biology and made me his son. I'm actually genetically related to him now…" Danny explained.
"So you're a demon now instead of a ghost? And does this make you the antichrist or something?" Sam asked.
"Half demon, actually. I'm still half ghost. He called me a 'cambion' or something. And, if Lucifer has his way, yeah it probably would… At least in a sense… Does Christ even exist? I've only heard Lucifer mention Michael before so…" Danny asked.
"Either Christ and Michael are the same person, or Christ went with God when he locked himself up. There's actually a lot of speculation about that in Heaven but no one I talked to really knows for sure." Sam explained.
"Huh… Guess I'm gonna find out eventually, when I help Lucifer burn Heaven to ash…" Danny muttered.
"Wait, you aren't actually considering helping him are you?!" Sam asked, horrified.
"Sam… They killed Mom, Dad, Jazz, and Tucker… They would have killed you too if I hadn't gotten to you in time… You said it yourself, they were real angels. They weren't just demons in disguise or anything like that, but were actual angels. That means Heaven ordered them to kill you all, just to hurt me… So yes. I want revenge. And that puts me firmly on Lucifer's side whether I like it or not."
Sam hesitated. "Danny, I don't want to see you ending up like that other version of yourself. Like the one who murdered us… If you help Lucifer, would that make you any better than him?"
"I don't want to be like him either, Sam… I refuse to be like him. Even now, after everything that's happened I won't let myself become evil. But if Heaven really did order you all to be murdered… What am I supposed to do? Just forgive and forget?! No… I… I can't do that. I can't just let them get away with it." Danny growled, with his eyes shut tight and his fists clenched in anger and sadness.
"Sam… Do you think Heaven really did this? Or was this a setup of some sort? Please… Tell me this was a set up and they didn't really do it… I'm begging you… Tell me they didn't do it… I won't join Lucifer and attack Heaven if this really wasn't their fault and it was some sort of trick… So please… Give me something I can work with… Just… Just give me a way out of this… I don't want to be on his side… Please…" He begged, desperately.
Sam grimaced and looked at Danny sadly. Could she do it? Could she look him in the eyes and lie to him? About something as serious as this? It had been almost a year since they last saw each other, but he was still her friend and she could tell by the way he was acting that he had been through a lot. She had never seen him like this before… Gritting her teeth for a moment she started, "Danny, I… I… Damn it… I want to, I really want to… But I can't lie to you. Not about this… I genuinely have no idea if it was a set up or not. I want to think it was, but from what everyone in Heaven said about its security, I find it hard to believe it could have been anything but real."
Danny was silent for a long moment before opening his eyes and unclenching his fists again. "So that's it then… Lucifer's finally won… I… I have no choice but to side with him…" He sighed and shook his head. "Well… On the bright side, at least that will make my life down here a lot easier since I don't have any real reason to try to resist anymore… Well, aside from the Helsa thing… And I can probably get them to agree to give you asylum down here since I doubt it will be safe for you to return to Heaven." Danny said, trying to find at least some glimmer of hope in this grim situation.
"I guess… What's this 'Helsa thing' you mentioned, though?" Sam asked.
"An arranged marriage… Lucifer and Lilith set up an arranged marriage between me and Leviathan's daughter Helsa. We hate each other, especially after a fight we had a few months ago, but neither of us really have a choice in the matter. After we fought, Lucifer punished me by…" Danny took a deep, shaky breath. "I don't want to talk about it… Not right now… Not after what just happened… I'll tell you some other time, okay?"
Sam gave him a concerned look. "It's alright Danny. Since I can't go back to Heaven, I'll be here whenever you're ready to talk about it… But an arranged marriage, huh? That sucks. Like, really sucks. I'm guessing they didn't even ask you before deciding?"
Danny shook his head. "No. They didn't… But apparently there's a chance I can divorce her later, after making an heir… Ugh… I don't want to do that either but at least it's a potential way out."
Getting up, Danny sighed once more. "I guess I should probably go tell them I've decided to help them… You should come. I'm going to ask them to give you asylum down here too, so you should probably be there for that."
Sam nodded. "Alright. Lead the way, I guess."
The two of them walked out of Danny's bedroom and headed for the throne room where they found Lucifer, Lilith, and Charlie waiting for them. Apparently the corpses had already been cleaned up. Danny would have to ask about them later, because he wanted to give his family and Tucker a proper burial at the very least.
"Ah, Daniel. There you are. I sincerely apologize for what's happened… I should have anticipated something like this and made preparations. I will have you know, I take full responsibility for this." Lucifer told him.
Danny blinked in surprise. He was caught completely off guard by this. He would never have expected Lucifer to actually apologize for anything. He doubted the apology was sincere but still. Then again, he said it was sincere and his curse prevented him from lying so… He would think about it later.
"Thanks, I guess… The bodies. I want to give Tucker and my family a proper burial." Danny said.
"Of course. Such a thing can be easily arranged. Though I would strongly recommend cremation as the cannibals can be quite persistent and would not hesitate to dig up the corpses to devour them. I assume you do not want the bodies being desecrated, correct?" Lucifer asked.
Danny nodded. "That'll work, I guess… So… I guess you win."
Lucifer smiled and raised an eyebrow at that. "Oh? And what do you mean by that?"
"Heaven murdered them… I… I can't just let them get away with that… So… You win… I'll help you. I'll help you destroy Heaven." Danny said.
Lucifer chuckled. "Excellent. You have made the correct decision, Daniel. This is perhaps not the best time to say this but, this makes you officially part of our family. Welcome, my son."
Danny didn't respond to that. Instead he looked at Sam. "I have one last thing I want to ask… Sam… She obviously can't go back to Heaven or who knows what they might try to do to her. I want to request asylum for her, here in Hell."
"Oh, dear boy, I thought that was a given. She's your friend is she not? We wouldn't send her back to her death in Heaven. She's more than welcome here in Hell. In fact, she could even be your second wife if you wish it." Lucifer told him.
Both Sam and Danny blushed at that.
"Wife?!" Sam exclaimed in shock.
"Wait, what?!" Danny nearly shouted in surprise. "H-hold on. I thought I had an arranged marriage with Helsa!"
"And you do. You two are still going to be married eventually. What? Did you assume you weren't allowed to have multiple wives? Pah… This isn't Heaven, Daniel. This is Hell. We have no such prudish rules against polyamory down here. I thought you would have realized that… Well, admittedly, had Helsa not done what she did, Leviathan could have potentially requested the marriage be exclusive and I would have considered it. But since she did, they officially lost their right to complain. So I don't care. Have more relationships if you wish, it hardly matters to me." Lucifer told him.
Danny practically choked at that.
"W-we don't like each other like that, r-right Danny?" Sam stuttered, looking at him.
"R-right…" Danny agreed, too embarrassed to look at her.
Lucifer rolled his eyes. "Sure you don't… Well, regardless, this will be the last extermination day ever. Angels have been officially banned from Hell. Well, all of them except for your girlfriend there. So you need not worry about any more events like what happened yesterday happening again. Honestly I should have banned them months ago, but I never would have thought Michael would stoop so low as to resort to something like this."
"And it also means you'll be building up a larger and larger army for war against Heaven…" Danny said, crossing his arms. He wanted to sound disapproving but he had just agreed to help in the war so he knew he couldn't do so without being a major hypocrite.
"Indeed." Was all Lucifer said in response to that.
Danny sighed and shook his head. "Alright, I guess… Where… Where are my family's bodies being stored? I… I want to visit them and say goodbye."
Lucifer ordered a servant to lead Danny to the bodies. Meanwhile, another servant led Sam to a guest room where she would be staying for the moment.
This chapter feels a bit off to me. Not sure I'm satisfied with it. Specifically, I'm not sure about Danny's behavior after he woke up or how quickly he accepted that Heaven was responsible for murdering Tucker and his family. If anyone has suggestions as to possible revisions I could make, feel free to let me know.
