Apologies

After the disastrous conversation yesterday, Blaze had gotten to the classroom early. She would have to talk to the irritable demon, whether he wanted her to or not. She dreaded the confrontation already. She wasn't sure how he would react after yesterday's explosion of emotion. While he had been in the wrong and hostile, it didn't bode well for her future in this career if they were at odds. She fully expected him to demand an apology, not that she would give it to him.

However she was surprised to find that he was already there, sitting at his desk lazily writing on a piece of paper. As if he were waiting for her. As soon as she had made it through the door his dark eyes turned to her. At first neither said anything, just stared at the other, until the male nodded at her politely.

"Professor Blaze." He greeted her but the cold tone of yesterday was not there any longer.

"Professor Kalego." She returned the greeting blandly. Just because he wasn't snapping at her didn't mean that the dispute was. Instead of saying anything, he pushed a stack of papers that looked like it also held a notebook or two towards her. The stack was about a foot talk and there were quite a few packets within. "What is this?"

"After yesterday, I went to each of the teachers for the Misfit class and got a copy of their syllabus, unit schedule, and a few other things that will make it easier to instruct the students." The man rose from his seat and straightened his sleeves awkwardly, clearly feeling uncomfortable about the exchange. Her eyes lingered on the paper then they drifted to the teacher who was not looking at her. She could recognize an apology when she saw one. Even though it was a bit indirect, she appreciated it all the same. So she placed her hand on the stack of papers, tappinging thoughtfully. She didn't want to embarrass the male when he was trying.

"I think we are good, then." Blaze finally told him. She was willing to meet the man in the middle since he had put the efforts in first. Her words were soft and unlike the harsh venom she threw at him yesterday. He looked surprised for someone who had taken such efforts to mend the bridge between them. The look lasted for the briefest of moments before he cleared his throat.

"Well then we are going over the concept of non-verbal magics today. I hope you know your theories." He quickly changed the subject. Clearly he was not one to linger on 'feelings'.

Blaze found his quick change of the subject amusing and a little smirk graced her lips but over all she let it go, content to just move on and set up for the day. After all, if there need be no argument, then that's all the better.

"Iruma had mentioned that Asmodeus was rather well versed in non-verbal magics so he would be an excellent student example."

"We will not need a student example. I am very much able to perform such spells." The dog demon told her as if stating the obvious.

"I figured, but for them, you are an unattainable goal right now. You've had many more years of practice so obviously you would be able to do it. However, if a student in their age range can do it then the ability is not so far out of their reach." Kalego hated that she had a point. "Also, did you have a spell in mind for them to practice with? If we teach them the theory we should teach the practical application right?" She knew that not too many demons knew many non-verbal spells, however that didn't mean they shouldn't try.

He looked at her in silence for a moment. "Do you have one prepared?"

She held up her hand invoicing the spell in her mind. It was the only spell she knew but she knew it well enough to perform non-verbally. A thin shimmer of a shield came forth and wrapped around her. Both Ethereon and Opera approved her learning a shield spell first and foremost. Since protecting herself and her son was her top priority. Though Opera did point out recasting the spell all day seemed obsessive, they admitted that she had, even though the spell was not a high level one learning it over the course of 2 to 3 days was fairly good. Especially enough to do it non-verbally. "This would be the least destructive if done wrong, correct?"

She waited for the male's opinion. "Yes, it would seem that you have really thought this through."

"Of course. Anything I commit myself to I don't half ass."

Iruma moved down the stairs to the Misfit Classroom as fast as he could, hoping that he could dodge some of his classmates. His mom had explained that the decision to be a teacher was a last minute one. So she couldn't have warned him. Still, he wasn't mad. Being able to see her all day made him feel safer as he knew she would not let anything hurt him. That safety did come with a price though as the whole Misfit Class wanted to know about his mother. What did she like? Would she let them get away with a few things here and there? Was she super strict? Most questions bordered on that line of thought. But the most upsetting question was from the owl student. He had asked if she was single.

Iruma did not like that question. That was his mom and she was almost twice the perverted student's age. Asmodeus had stepped up for him and stopped the questioning but for once in his life Iruma felt irritated that someone would ask such a thing. He knew his mother was not unattractive, but to hear his classmates comment on her felt weirdly frustrating. The blue haired boy had purposefully dodged the Misfit students as he waited for it to become closer to the start of class. Thankfully Clara was willing to occupy that time with her games.

The students began gathering in the classroom and Iruma was happy to see his mother sitting on the edge of the desk checking roll as each student entered. She looked like she had been doing this forever.

Kalego sat at his desk as if he were some grim reaper that was ready to swoop in on his mother at her first sign of a mistake. After yesterday's homeroom, Iruma was sure that was the case. A slight frown pulled at the boy's lips, he didn't like that and it gave him feelings that were unpleasant at the thought that she would have to go through that again today. His mother gestured him over as she saw him arrive. They did not come to school together today, though she promised that she would start walking with him tomorrow since she had to talk to the homeroom teacher today.

"Did you have a nice walk?" She asked sweetly, reaching up to straighten his already straight tie. She wasn't big on smothering him with affection while 'on the clock' but she did little things like this to show she did care. It was her way.

"Yeah, I hung out with Az and Clara before class." He said softly, already seeing the irritated look that Kalego was known for beginning to form.

"I'm glad you're fitting in. Go get to your seat now, your friends seem to want you back." She gave the boy a light shove to his classmates and he found a seat towards the back in hopes that would stave off any looks from his classmates. He doubted it but one could hope. At least if they tried to stare at him, his mother and Kalego would have a reason to scold them.

Kalego had really expected much worse when he saw Iruma enter the class room. Demonesses were known to be fiercely loving mothers. They often were over the top when it came to their children and the affection they gave them. So he had expected that the woman would be no different when she gestured her child over. Afterall, it was normal behavior.

Though after getting rimmed for his assumptions yesterday, he did not immediately jump on the actions. And he was glad he didn't since the display, while affectionate, was nothing so over the top as most. A simple pat and a fixing of his clothes before being sent to his seat. It was a gesture that even a teacher could pull off without it seeming favorable.

Yes, this may have been Sullivan's daughter but she definitely was not her father. Perhaps they could work well together. Perhaps he had much less to fear from this situation than he originally dreaded. Now all he had to do was learn what triggered her and they would be golden. He had no plans of getting close to her, since that would mean becoming closer to the chair demon and that was the last thing he wanted.

He could not have known what the next two years would bring. He could not have even fathomed that the woman seated on his desk currently would hold an important role for the future of not only Babyls but himself as well.

If only he could have seen into the future, but alas that was not a power that he possessed and for now he would strive to put as much distance between the two of them as possible. Never knowing the forces in the background working against him. Namely, Opera and Sullivan.
