Chapter 5

To answer guest reviewer. I'm pretty sure Caroline gets more "story time" then Camille. So I don't see the problem. The sweetheart thing, OK, I'll keep that in mind.

Alaric and the twins got home the same day and they decided that the time was of the essence. So they did the transfer the same night at the school grounds. Everything went without a hitch until it was in Aurora's body, who woke up the minute it was In her. Klaus drove a stake to her heart but it didn't work, it didn't kill Aurora, the stake ignited but Aurora bas beginning to heal already. Nobody could understand what was happening before Aurora attacked Alaric, the only human there besides the kids. Aurora bit Alaric in the neck and drank his blood until Klaus intervened and pulled her off of him. And then she was gone.

"Great plan as always, Klaus." Alaric groaned as Caroline gave him some blood.

"Indeed." Klaus agreed sarcastically. "But don't worry, she's my problem. I'm going to track her down but first I want to thank your girls for what they have done. Girls," and he turned to Lizzie and Josie, "You siphoned the thing out of my daughter and I couldn't be more grateful. Job well done. Thank you so much".

"Okay, Klaus, you can thank them by leaving Mystic Falls. I'm sure Aurora is gone too by now." Caroline chimed in.

"Not a chance that we leave Klaus to deal with his ex alone. I want to see the thing destroyed as per our agreement. So where ever that woman is heading, I coming with."

"Okay whatever, I have to go track her." And Klaus was also gone.

"Thank you so much for the help, Alaric. I know Klaus, he might be a little weak when dealing with his ex so he needs help keeping a clear head on when it comes to Aurora de Martel." Hayley said after that.

"We are glad to help. I'm happy to help you, Hayley, any way that I can, always." Alaric beamed at Hayley.

Caroline scoffed, "Ok then that's settled."

"Aurora is out of Mystic falls and heading to New Orleans. Just as I thought," Klaus said to Caroline and Hayley who were waiting for him at the school. Hope and the twins had gone to bed. They were promised a sleepover with Hope sleeping at Lizzie's and Josie's room at Alaric's and Caroline's home. Alaric was with them.

"Okay, we'll leave first thing in the morning then. Are you going to come too with Alaric?" Hayley asked Caroline.

Klaus was behind Hayley and tried to signal Caroline to say no, as he was too afraid that Camille would find about the night he just spent with Caroline.

"Yes, Alaric won't leave it alone and I also want to see this thing taken care of." Caroline smiled to Hayley and then gave a knowing look to Klaus.

In the morning, they all besides the twins left Mystic Falls to go to New Orleans to deal with Aurora de Martel.

Camille was pacing back and forth in the living room of the Mikaelson's mansion, having heard that Klaus and Hayley would return with visitors. She liked Caroline but she didn't want her there. Deep down she knew Caroline was a threat to her's and Klaus' relationship.

"So what's the plan?" Rebekah asked, who had returned home.

"The main thing is that it's out of our niece." Elijah said.

"I'm gonna take mother's grimores and study them as long as I figure something out. Vincent promised to help me. That's the plan."

"What the bloody hell are the rest of us suppose to do until then?"

"Eat, sleep, think, repeat?" Freya answered her sister

"I think they are here…" Camille chimed in.

They went to greet the arrivals and all of them gathered in the courtyard. Except Hope who was sent to her room.

"Any ideas how to beat that thing?" Elijah asked the arrivals.

"Find that wench and kill her, that's the plan." Klaus declared.

"And how are you going to do that, if you already failed at that. Niklaus?"

"There are other ways to kill a vampire, I can try that."

"Or you could try something that actually works"

Everybody turned to look at Vincent who just arrived a minute ago.

"Well, clearly you have a plan, so let's hear it?" Klaus demanded.

"First, I am gonna tell you that you are not gonna like the plan. Any of you. It's going to be the end of Always and Forever."

For a moment, the room fell silent. As the Mikaelsons were too stunned to speak, Alaric asked Vincent to elaborate.

"We don't kill it, you can't kill it. It's not a vampire, it's a dark energy, thousands of years old. We can do only one thing: split it into pieces and put them in somewhere eternal. Like vampires who can't be killed so easily."

"Like the Original vampires. You want to put the energy in to my siblings?" Freya asked, incredulous.

"Are you daft or something?" Rebekah added her own question to Vincent.

"I told you, you were not going to like it. But it's the only way to stop Aurora de Martel, full of that dark magic, burning down the city, maybe even country or the world."

"I couldn't bloody care less about the world burning" Klaus yelled at Vincent. "We are not going to do it, your idiotic plan."

Vincent was about to say something before Caroline tried to talk some sense into Klaus. "Klaus, you know your daughter is in that world you want to let get burned down. Maybe it's not such a bad idea. Maybe we should listen what is his whole plan, with details. Think about it, kids younger than Hope, sacrificed for that thing."

Klaus turned to look at her, at first ready to say something ugly to her. But then he started thinking how much he ows her now and If Caroline believes in Vincent than maybe he should too.

"Okay, Vincent tell us the whole plan entailing every detail."

"It's pretty basic. We need at least three originals. I was thinking the ones who are already here. Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah. You are already monsters by definition, so you won't be affected by the magic so much as Hope was. And the further you are from each other, the better you is the catch, if you take the dark energy in, you have to go your separate way and never look back, never be together in the same room, even maybe in the same city."

Rebekah was about to protest but was silenced by Elijah who just signaled her to keep her mouth shut.

Then Vincent turned to Caroline and Alaric, "We need your daughters again. They basically have to do the same thing but this time I will help them separate it."

Alaric just shook his head. This is not happening again, he thought.

"Rick…we have to do it. One final time." Caroline tried to convince Alaric

"Care…"

"I know you hate it, I hate it too, but it's for all of our future, including the girls'"

They looked at each other for couple of seconds, agreeing in silence, "Okay, we'll do it. But first we have to find Aurora, right?" Caroline asked.

"Yeah…" was all Vincent had to say. "I leave that part to Klaus."

"So everybody knows their jobs, I'm gonna help Klaus track her down." Freya said, turning to talk to everyone.

Everyone went to deal with their part in the plan. Alaric went back to Mystic Falls to get the girls, Rebekah had some unfinished businesses to deal with before she could leave the city, Elijah had to say goodbye to Hayley (Klaus was the one to stay with Hope and Hayley and Elijah couldn't live with them anymore, not even in the same city, to be on safe side), Klaus and Freya went to the bell tower and Camille decided that she didn't want to be in the compound with Caroline and she decided to spend the evening at Rousseau's but she was followed by Caroline.

"Camille, can I talk to you?" Caroline asked when she caught up with her on the street.

"You followed me?"

"Yes, Klaus, asked me to keep an eye on you and I wanted to know how you've been."

"I'm great. Having the time of my life trying to get pregnant and failing."

"I heard. I'm sorry."

"Not that you would understand. You didn't even want to get pregnant we you had the twins."

Caroline was about to say something when she heard something weird, like whispers that came closer and closer. "Camille, I think we better get back to the compound. NOW" And she took Camille's hand about to bolt when everything went to black.

When Caroline woke up, she was in an abandoned factory, she had chains on. Camille was there too and 5 kids laying there on the ground, unconscious but alive.

"Oh, good you are awake. Let the games begin." That was Aurora de Martel, her eyes were totally black and she had dark veins everywhere. She was definitely more than vampire.

"What games?" Caroline gritted through teeth as she tried to get loose.

"See those kids Caroline. You are going to kill them, it's the sacrifice I need, I mean the Hollow needs."

So that's what the energy is called.

"And if I don't?" Then I'm gonna kill sweet innocent Camille. One way or the other, it's gonna get it's sacrifice.

Uh, no! In every other circumstance. One grown up or five kids, it wasn't so difficult choice. But Camille was Klaus' love of his life. He would never forgive him if anything should happen to her.

"So what's the verdict? What did you decide?"

"Okay, I will kill the kids."

"Caroline, NO!" Camille shouted.

Aurora just laughed an evil laughter.

"Chop, chop, get on with it," Aurora said and went to put a knife on Camille's throat.

Tears in her eyes, she went to the kids, the chains let her move around but not much.

"I am so sorry" she said to the kids.

She picked up the knife that she had been given and put a knife on one of the kids' throat but hesitated for the longest time before Aurora yelled, "Do it! Or I am going to kill Cami. You know what I'm capable of."

Caroline still hesitated for a moment, hoping that Klaus would get there before she had to kill even one of the kids.

But then Aurora forced the knife more against Camille's throat and Caroline being afraid killed instantly two kids before she stopped and cried, "Please don't make me do this!"

Aurora loosened the knife she held on Camille's throat for a second to laugh, "You all have brought this on yourself. You have three more kills left to do. Get on with it."

Caroline was about to kill the third child, a boy, when suddenly Aurora flew to the other side of the factory. Klaus had done that when he sneaked in behind her. Caroline instantly threw the knife on the floor and started bawling on the floor. She couldn't say or do anything, she just knelt on the floor and cried. She didn't see that with Klaus there were Rebekah and Elijah too. And she was so upset that she didn't understand what Klaus was telling her when he knelt down beside her, taking her in his arms.

Soon they were at the compound, again gathering, this time in the living room.

She had to pull herself together for the time being. There was still work to do. Still, Caroline was laying on the couch trying hard to concentrate.

"So we have Aurora. Alaric has brought the twins. What's the damn hold up?" Klaus asked mainly Vincet

"No hold up, just lets go through it again."

"Bloody hell." Was All Klaus could say, he was so tired.

So they went the plan over one more time and Elijah, Klaus and Rebekah all agreed not to come close to one another. For the time being. Until they could figure something else to do with that Hollow thing. They could still visit hope and other family members, but not at same time and not together.

Then at midnight they did the damn spell and the two of them left the city without even saying goodbye to each other.

After that Klaus easily could kill Aurora off. While that was going on, Caroline found an empty bed in an empty room to lie down.

When Aurora was dust, Camille and Klaus wanted to go celebrate but then he listened carefully and heard someone sobbing on the second floor.

"Honey, can you go ahead, I have something to take care of first and then I'll join you."

"Okay" and she gave him a quick kiss on the lips.

Klaus knew already who was crying. He found her in darkened room on an empty bed. Fully clothed.

"Sweetheart. Can I come in?

Caroline didn't answer so Klaus went to sit on the bed by her side.

"Camille told me what you had to do. Why did you do it? Camille doesn't mean anything to you."

"How could you even ask that" Caroline sobbed. "You love her. Maybe she's even the love of your life. You would have never forgiven me if she had died instead of those childres. So I did what I had to do."

Klaus just stared at her for the longest time, it had been a long time since somebody had moved him like that. Klaus knew exactly what kind of a moral compass she had, how she had always tried to do the right thing even if it came at the expanse of her own happiness. He himself had been what she had regarded as Wrong when she was in high school even though both of them knew how happy he made her. And now she had done something Wrong for him. In that moment, he couldn't deny it, he loved her as much as those times in Mystic Falls. He was a a liar, a hypocrite, he had totally lied to Camille about his feelings for Caroline. For some reason he had downplayed them to make Cami happy. He felt bad about it, but at the same time he didn't think a monster like him knew any better.

Maybe Cami should have never expected anything more from me.

All in all it was evident that things couldn't continue like that. That he was totally dishonest with Camille, while Caroline had to be the one who was outside looking in.

God, what have I done, I've made a such a mess of our lives. Of Cami's life, of Caroline's and oh his own too.

"Caroline… I don't deserve you. Not as a friend or anything else either. I've made a total mess of our lives."

"What do you mean?" Caroline stopped sobbing and looked at Klaus with a confused face.

"I mean that… I have to go right now, there's something I need to do, but I want to talk to you before you go back home, okay?"

"Okay," And she went back to looking at nothing and his heart broke for her.

Camille was Rousseau's, this time as a costumer. She was at the bar, doing shots with an acquaintance. She looked away form her drink for a second to see whether Klaus had come when she saw from the corner of her eye that her acquaintance, Claire, was pouring something in her drink.

"Hey, did you just try to roofie me?" Camille asked. If she only knew how much worse it really was.

The girl was so startled and afraid that she immediately run away dropping the tiny bottle she had used to spike Cami's drink.

"What's that?" It was Klaus behind her, asking about the bottle she was now holding in her hand.

"I don't know, I was having drinks with Claire, when I noticed that she spiked my drink with this?"

"What are you talking about?" Klaus asked, becoming angry.

"Claire is a girl I know for some time, we usually drink non-alcoholic drinks but I don't know, I have never noticed her doing something like that ever before."

"Ok, home, NOW, " Klaus told her.

At home Freya looked at the bottle.

"Witches use little bottles like that"

Then she shook it and smelled it and frowned, "Klaus, it's a magical poison."

"What? Poison for what?"

" I don't know what it's for. I have to talk to Vincent. Excuse me."

"Klaus, I have really bad feeling." Camille distressed.

When Freya came back, her face was white as snow.

"Niklaus, can we talk alone?"

"No, What ever you have to say, I want to hear it too!" Camille demanded.

Freya looked at Klaus who just nodded.

"It's um something some witches use as a contraceptive. Doesn't do anything to the woman, but makes it impossible to get pregnant."

Cami was shocked and then both her and Freya were startled by the breaking of a glass Klaus was holding.

"So this girl Claire was making sure she never conceived? Who's behind it?"

"Vincent's girlfriend Eve says that basically all the NO witches besides me Vincent and Eve. Davina is the leader of the group."

"Why?"

"Eve's sources say that one of the witches had a vision that unlike Hope, your's and Camille's child, a boy, would grow up to be tyrant who would terrorize everyone in this city."

Klaus started to bolt, to kill off all the witches in NO.

"Klaus, wait, you can't do it alone. You won't be able to hurt them without using some magic yourself and I can help you with it."

"Why would you help me?"

"Because you are my brother and I don't want to see you get hurt. And because I hate them too for what they have done." Freya answered sadly.

"Okay, let's go then."

"Kill them all, Klaus" was all Cami could say, as she started to cry.

Even Caroline cried for them as she had heard everything.

That night thunder struck New Orleans as Freya and Klaus exacted revenge to those who had hurt their family for years. They tortured and killed Davina and most of the NO witches.

Klaus had a plan to tell Camille the truth about Caroline but the new information about his girlfriend being hurt by his enemies put things in a different light. She had suffered enough. She didn't want her to suffer anymore on his account.

So the next day, Caroline went home, leaving Klaus and Camille to ponder what they were going to do now.

I think that Freya and Klaus could have done a lot of damage as a duo, too bad we never quite saw it on the Originals.
