The following day was hectic and all Maria wanted was a cup of coffee. The morning had started with Natasha and Wanda getting into a fight (about what you ask Maria had no clue) she had woken up to see them catfighting and rolling around on the bed.
It took her 10 minutes to get Wanda's death grip off Natasha's hair and she was not willing to let it go. It left Natasha's hair in a mess and her crying while also trying to get her hands on Wanda and the other toddler was also still not done fighting.
Then when Maria was trying to get them breakfast Natasha was having a tantrum and Wanda was running around like a crazy person and Maria was only one person and couldn't focus on both girls and food (she hasn't even made her coffee yet).
After getting them fed, showered (Wanda decided to be the little devil and started throwing her eggs everywhere and Natasha was getting it all over herself), and dressed she even (barely) got their hair in a ponytail.
While trying to lock her door and still hold onto the girl's hands she didn't hear Karen come out of her apartment," They're cute." It took all of Maria's self-control to not shoot Karen," Thank you. Наташа, пожалуйста, веди себя." (Natasha, please behave) Maria scolded Natasha who was trying but failing to get out of Maria's grasp," Is their father a redhead? Because you sure aren't." Did this woman ever truly take a break? Did she have something to do? A hobby? A job to go to? Maria wondered as she finally locked the door.
Maria ignored Karen and made her way downstairs. She was balancing both the girls on her hips when it turned out would take longer than a minute to get downstairs if she let the girls walk on their own and she was all so glad when Karen didn't follow her.
Strapping them into their car seats was another challenge that was all so easy yesterday is even harder today when strapping in Wanda Natasha was trying to escape the car and Wanda was trying to get out of the car seat, Natasha wouldn't stop wiggling and Maria still hasn't had her cup of coffee.
Maria huffed as she got into the car she was sweating like crazy and she hadn't even done a single work out but dealing with 2 toddlers will do that to you. Maria had decided that she wouldn't bother to make her coffee especially if this was how her mornings were going to go. She would just get it from her favorite coffee shop but then that would require going in and Maria didn't feel like taking Natasha and Wanda out of their car seats. She wanted coffee more so she decided to make that sacrifice.
Maria now regretted ever choosing coffee over her sanity but then again without coffee she would never feel sane she still didn't have her coffee and now she was chasing after Wanda while Natasha was getting cuddly and way too close to a pit bull who could tear her to shreds," He doesn't bite." The owner kept saying but Maria heard that multiple times and she never believed it, especially when she saw the owner tug the pitbull back when he let out a growl that's when she took Natasha by the hand and finally got a hold of Wanda who was excitedly babbling to a couple who looked to be on a date they didn't seem bothered but Maria still felt embarrassed," I'm so sorry. She's a bit energetic this morning." Maria hauled Wanda on her hip while she held onto Natasha's hand," it's fine. She's truly adorable." Yeah, Maria thought the same thing too until she had woken up and had to deal with tantrums," Thank you, and again I'm sorry." Maria left the couple to continue their date. She was glad that her order was already done and was able to walk out of the cafe.
Now Maria wasn't one to care about what people think about her she never had but walking out of the cafe she let out a sigh of relief she had never felt like there were more eyes on her judging everything that she was doing more than she did while she was in the cafe trying to get a hold of Wanda and Natasha. Maybe it was because they were the only ones making noises or the fact that some women sent her some judgy stares.
Why did people always need to judge single mothers? It never made sense to Maria at least they were putting the effort into raising their kid and they had already had enough shit that they didn't need other people judging them.
"Мама вверх." (Mama up) Natasha insisted as she stopped dead in her tracks refusing to walk she wanted to be held like Wanda but Maria honestly didn't know how she was holding her coffee and Natasha's hand she was doing it but she refused to keep both girls and the coffee cup," Мы в основном к машине, просто подожди немного, ладно." (We are mostly to the car just hold on a little longer okay) Natasha although she nodded her face pulled into a scowl as she glared at Wanda," Вверх, принцесса." (Up you go princess) Maria hauled Natasha one-handedly after putting her coffee cup in the cup holder.
Maria proceed to buckle or try to buckle Natasha one handedly which too much of an effort she was started to get frustrated and both girls were getting squirmy finally, she was able to clip Natasha into the car seat and with a sigh of relief went to go do the same with Wanda this time it is easier then it was with Natasha.
They were running behind Maria was a person who didn't like to be late or have things that diverted from their schedule and this whole thing with being a parent was mixing up their schedule now she should probably have to get used to her schedule and if they didn't find a cure soon then she would have to fix her schedule to revolve around the girls.
Maria honestly didn't need to do much shopping Tony was having a crib built and delivered he probably will decorate the room as well so Maria was going to buy a couple of toys, a book, and some warmer clothes for the girls it was nearing fall and Maria knew Tony was smart but he was also not on his top game and knew that he wouldn't figure this out as soon as anyone would hope he would and then Bruce is gone so he has no guidance.
She was also going to pick up a couple of child-friendly snacks and anything else that was deemed child friendly because honestly Maria didn't know where to start and she doubted she wanted to ask the staff for help. It would look too weird especially since she was supposed to be a mother of 2-year-olds.
Maria balanced both girls on her hips even though it was a struggle Maria was willing to go through with it rather than experience the hell she went through when they stopped at the coffee shop and although they were heavy she managed. She even was able to make it to a cart before her arms gave out.
Maria was praying to every god that this shopping trip didn't turn into some hell but her hopes were already low when Wanda started kicking up a storm while Maria was trying to strap her in, making it even harder with her having to dodge kicks that hurt more than they should. But Natasha was well-behaved (for now).
