Phew, these last chapters were really long, I'm not making any promises of keeping this pace. I was able to upload sooner than usual but don't get used to it. My exam weeks and lack of inspiration might have other plans in the future.

Extra long chapter, enjoy!

The usual crap:

If you could send me a review that would be great! All feedback is appreciated! As long as you don't yell at me XD

English isn't my first language, please tell me if you spot any mistakes!.

Disclaimer: I don't own the owl house, all the characters except my OCs belong to Disney and Danna Terrace. This AU idea belongs to moringmark (Plz go read his comics, I beg you).

-Amity-

The parking lot in cliffside highschool / Friday, september 30th, 17:45 hrs

Amity saw with amazement how Luz rolled in the ground to dodge Boscha's kick and made her trip with her leg. The star player of the banshees roared and got up, she attempted a swing but Luz saw it coming and backed up, then she countered with a punch straight to her opponent's cheek. The two girls separated for a moment to catch their breath.

"Whoooo" Peter, the orange haired kid roared in admiration "Luz versus Boscha!"

He wasn't the only one: A few seconds ago this crowd felt like a weird mix of a public execution and a boxing match. Everyone just assumed that Boscha was finally going to beat up the new kid and wanted everyone to watch so they would all keep being scared of her. Some people came because it seemed fun to them, others came because they were too scared to disobey Boscha, while others because they didn't have anything else to do. No one was expecting this to be an actual fight. The cheering had stopped and people were admiring the scene.

"Five bucks to the new girl winning" Some guy whispered to his friend near Amity.

"No way man, I have ten on Boscha" People didn't bother to start betting before because they thought that this was going to be a one-sided beating, but now people were hurting to place their bets.

Amity took one moment to look at the opponents who now were standing at opposite ends of the improvised ring. Boscha was puffing air in an angry way and the trail of blood coming out of her nose made her look quite scary. It did not help that she had a robust build with wide shoulders and muscular arms (seriously, Amity keeps telling her she should try the rugby team), what was envious about that was the fact that she could hid those well: any person that saw her walking on the hallways would not be able to guess she had all of this muscle under her jacket. Except now, with only her tank top, everyone could see the fruits of her labor.

Luz, on the other hand, had more of a slender build and was quite tall (but not as tall as her opponent), Amity could see a bit of muscle in her but it wasn't nearly as much as Boscha's. Still, despite the size and strength differences, the latina was smiling and taunting the other girl. In fact she had never seen her classmate behave like this: The clumsy and shy girl was gone, in her place stood a person who knew what they were doing and was enjoying it. The confidence in her tone and the shining on her eyes were something else.

"Well then?" Luz asked with a confidence in her voice that Amity never heard "what's wrong?"

She kept taunting Boscha with her hand but the pink-haired girl stood in her place. She probably figured out that charging blindly was just going to make things worse for her so she tried to calm down and think. After a while she moved forward while watching her step, this time Luz wouldn't be able to trip her over.

It didn't seem to be a problem for the dark skinned girl. She mainly just dodged Boscha's blows and retaliated with her own. Still the star player of the banshees stood her ground in the exchange and managed to land a hit that sent the Noceda girl stumbling backwards. Boscha knew that her size was her biggest advantage so she tried to use it in her favor: She attempted to grab the other girl but Luz was faster than her, she kicked Bosha on the shin to make her fall back.

It didn't work and Boscha managed to grab her by the collar, Luz struggled in order to get out of the hold to no avail (the other girl was far stronger than her). The whole crowd gasped as they watched Boscha drag Luz and stamp her head against the wall full force. She grabbed her face to do it again but she let her go with a yelp of pain.

"Did you just bite me?" Boscha held her now bleeding finger.

"I thought it was an old-fashioned fist fight. You know, no rules" Luz had trails of blood coming from her mouth and her clothes looked quite messed up. But she still had that determined smile on her face, that quite honestly made her look like a badass "What's the matter? Afraid I'll break your nails?"

Boscha charged once more and this time Luz was too slow to react. She grabbed her by the shoulders and turned around to stamp her back against the wall, she then raised her fist but Luz managed to interrupt her by giving her a knee to the stomach that made her hunch over. She followed it up by kicking Boscha once again, the taller girl groaned and grabbed Luz again, but this time she was ready: She managed to land a headbutt before the other girl could react and then pushed herself against the wall with her legs, with that she managed to tumble her opponent in the floor and landed on top of her. Once there Boscha tried to fight her off but Luz just swatted her hands away, then she raised her fist and-

"WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE" a booming voice coming from behind the students made her stop with her arm raised. The crowd had been too focused in the fight that it took them a second to realize what was happening, Amity turned around and to her horror she could see principal Bump standing a couple meters away from her "class ended a while ago, why are all of you here?"

"Well?" He said after a few seconds of pure silence "I'm waiting"

One by one the students at the front moved to the sides, some of them even ran away. They slowly dispersed to reveal the whole scene: Luz stradling Boscha with her fist still raised, both of them had bruises and their clothes were damaged. Upon seeing all of this Bump grumbled and started walking towards them.

"Miss Noceda! I hope you got a very good explanation for this!"

Luz untangled herself from Boscha and got up "I, uhh" it seemed that her prior confidence had vanished.

"It was her fault principal bump" Boscha rolled from the ground and stood to face the teacher. Amity groaned upon seeing this, she was putting on her 'innocent girl' face, which actually made her look terrifying with how swollen her face was "We had some differences over lunch the other day and I wanted to talk it over, but she started hitting me! I tried to defend myself but she was so scary…"

"Oh really now?" Bump looked at her skeptically.

Amity facepalmed. It was obvious what was happening here: Luz looked more beat up than Boscha and there was a huge crowd around them, much more people that would've gathered if this was a fight that came out of nowhere. Not to mention that someone had written "BETTING POOL" with chalk on the wall with the names of people that put their money on this. In fact she could see some students trying to erase it before Bump noticed it.

"Hey! That's not what happened!" Luz looked at Boscha in disbelief.

"See? She keeps trying to intimidate me, isn't that right girls?" She turned towards her friends from the basketball team, who were standing besides Amity, with a glare that said 'help me, idiots'.

"Ahhh, yeah! That Noceda girl is really dangerous" Amelia said with a nervous smile.

"Yep! We saw everything from here!" Kat provided.

"Uh-huh" Skara simply nodded.

Amity crossed her arms, she refused to take part in this. Boscha glared at her but didn't do anything else.

"Wait no- principal Bump I can explain!" Luz looked at him desperately "she was the one that challenged me to fight, I just accepted because she has been chasing me around since school started!"

Bump raised an eyebrow and was about to retort when another two voices interrupted the scene.

"It's true! She has been bothering her and this was what Boscha wanted!"

"Ye-yeah! What she said…"

Amity looked at the other side of the lot and felt a pang of pain inside. Willow walked in front of the crowd with a determined stare, at her side was her dark skinned friend who looked like he wanted to hide behind her. Boscha glared at them but to her surprise she didn't back away this time.

"At least she is good at sticking with her friends" Amity thought bitterly.

"Well, it seems I have a story to hear. You five" he pointed at the banshees and Luz's friends "wait in the hallway for my questioning later, you aren't in trouble but I want to know what really happened. And you" he turned to Luz "are coming with me, we need to talk"

"Huh? But I-"

"Save it for when I ask you later, you are coming to my office" Bump grabbed Luz's arm and Boscha smiled at her smugly, until Bump grabbed her with his other arm "and you are coming as well miss Smith, you still have questions to answer"

"But-"

"No buts, both of you are coming to my office. Although I think I should take you two to the infirmary first"

As he started to haul them over the direction of the school's main building the students gathered started to whisper among themselves.

"Man what a drag, Bump had to interrupt in the best moment"

"So… who won? I want to see if I lost money"

"Well obviously the new girl won, the fight ended with her on top"

"Are you blind? Boscha wrecked her face"

"That was just one move, Luz dominated the rest of the fight"

"But she ended up more injured than Boscha…"

"Man, screw this. I want my money back"

There was a lot of discussion on who was victorious and what would've happened if the fight went on. It was obvious that there wasn't a clear winner, but that wasn't the point. What truly amazed everyone here was that the match was hard fought, the new girl that no one expected to last more than fight seconds managed to strike down the queen of the school, that wasn't something you saw everyday.

"Excuse me, what are all of you doing here?" Bump turned around and faced the students "If you aren't the ones I called you have no reason to be here, you better leave"

The crowd took too long to move so Bump lost his patience.

"Alright in five seconds I'm going to give detention to everyone who is still here"

The students scattered in all directions. The rest of the basketball team sighed and went inside, alongside Luz's friends. But not Amity, Bump didn't call her and she didn't have a reason to go, so she just turned around and started walking back home. Hopefully her parents were done with their event right now.

"I was actually right the day I met Luz, she ended up being someone really interesting"

-Lawrence-

The MCU headquarters in connecticut / Monday October 3rd 17:00

Lawrence stretched as he yawned on his chair. Right now he was finishing his last report about the elemental guardian the wild witch defeated the other day, they still were cleaning that place from magical residue but right now the main concern was to make sure the public didn't find out about it. So far they managed to cover every incident caused by creatures with fake stories like gas explosions and wild animals, but it wasn't enough.

Lawrence feared that if they kept going like this it would be only a matter of time until someone put two and two together and realized what was going on. They had a close one with their most recent case: Someone on the internet realized that the last time the guardian was spotted it was near the abandoned factory that was conveniently burned down when some drunk youngsters' game escalated. Of course that person had no proof that the story was fake, but it gained a lot of traction on the internet and several people started believing it as well. Luckily they managed to handle that but at this point it was only a matter of time.

"I guess Marcus was right huh? People do tend to listen to crazy ones, I think we should-"

"Excuse me sir" he felt a tap on his shoulder and he turned to see a brunette recruit standing behind him with a cup of coffee in her hand "I've noticed that you haven't moved from your desk in quite a while, I brought you this"

"Oh, thank you… Ahh'' he looked at the girl without remembering her name. They got a bunch of new rookies because of the situation going here and it was hard to keep track of everyone.

"Cristine sir, I'm the social media assistant" she offered him a smile.

"Ah, gotcha" he took a sip from his coffee, it was good "so now that you are here, do you have anything new to report?"

"I have assistants now, even if I was an assistant myself a couple of months ago, I'll have to get used to that"

"Nothing much sir, the people claiming they knew the truth from the guardian incident are quieting down. We respond to any post featuring magical creatures with comments saying it's fake, I find it a more effective tactic than deleting the media if I'm honest. Actually it is too easy.

Lawrence breathed a sigh of relief. Weirdly enough he was thankful for the internet. In this new era where people had access to things like photoshop and other editing programs and powerful special effects, people were even more skeptical, people were comparing them to superhero movies and calling them fake. Technology made things easy to spread, but harder to believe.

"Well, that's good. Keep doing that"

"Wait, that's it?" Another rookie in a nearby desk joined the conversation "Pardon me sir, but we have more than enough agents doing this, shouldn't we be sending units somewhere else?"

"Goddamn it, he's behaving the same way I did with Marcus"

"There's not much we could do, without getting in the way of the other units" The four officers in charge of the operation had divided their members and resources into specialized units to facilitate work. Kikinora was in charge of the magical research and investigation, Marcus was in charge of the enforcing squads who confronted the active creatures, and Ralph (Kikimora's assistant) was in charge of training the new rookies. Which left him in charge of media coverage and logistics, sure it wasn't the most prestigious position, but it was expected considering he was the officer with less experience "you could try to transfer to another unit if you want to see more action. But there's no guarantee if you'll make it"

"No, I'm fine with this unit, it's just that it feels like we are not doing much here"

"Well trust me, more work will come. If I were you I'd enjoy this moment of peace, who knows when the next monster will attack? We'll just have to be ready for then"

"Understood sir"

With that everyone in the office went back to doing their jobs. As the settled into a quiet pacing Lawrence felt relaxed, he may have drawn the short end of the stick regarding the units but he wasn't mad about it, mainly because this has been the easiest job he had since this crisis started. He knew that at any moment an unprecedented event might happen to ruin it, so he had already made plans to enjoy himself tonight, first he was going to hit that new sushi place-

"Hey! Hey! Ma'am, you can't enter there!" Some noises from outside the office distracted him from his thoughts. He looked at the door and he could see some shapes moving through the stained glass and he heard some yells "Ma'am, I'm telling you-"

"Move you nitwit!"

Then the office doors bursted open and two of his men fell to the floor. After a while a black haired woman sitting on a wheelchair with a cast on her left leg stormed inside.

"Can't believe the amount of rookies we have here, and to think that people in this organization don't know who I am" she wheeled herself forward passing over the people who were still on the floor "I demand to speak to the person responsible for this unit!" She proclaimed while the people below her grunted.

All the eyes turned to him so Lawerence stood up.

"Uhh, yes. That's me ma'am, who are you?"

"Did she seriously get past our security in a wheelchair? But we are on the third floor and the elevator isn't working! Did she really just climb the stairs?"

"Who am I? Oh for the love of-STEVE" she turned and yelled with enough force to make him flinch "WHERE ARE YOU?"

"I'm here!" A voice came from the hallway and Lawrence saw a young brunette man with blue eyes in a suit running with a paper on his hand "Sorry, they held me at the entrance"

He handed the paper to Lawrence with a smile. He took it cautiously and read it, apparently these were ID credentials for one Lilith Clawthorne, who apparently was an officer that outranked him. He looked at the picture on the paper and gulped, effectively the angry woman on a wheelchair in front of him was a big shot in his organization.

"Sorry for the confusion ma'am, could you please move? I think your wheels are asphyxiating my employees"

"Hmph, you should train them better, imagine getting trampled by a lady on a wheelchair" With that she moved on from on top of his men and started looking around the office "where's Marcus? Also call me ma'am one more time and we are going to have a problem, my name is Lilith"

"Sure sure, Marcus in a meeting right now, but I can guide you to where he is. Name's Lawrence by the way, I'm the chief of the logistics unit" that sounded way cooler in his head. He offered his hand to her, which he didn't shake.

"Charmed, can we go now? Steve, come with us"

Lawrence told his crew to fix everything here and he went to the elevator, Lilith came along with the brunette (Steve, he assumed) who was giving him an apologetic look. They went upwards while Lawrence messaged Marcus non stop to warn him about this but unluckily the man did not look at his phone while in meetings. After a very awkward and silent ride they arrived at the final floor, when the doors opened she started to move at an incredibly speed for someone in a wheelchair.

"Lilith, wait!"

"Don't even try dude" Steve grabbed him by the shoulder before he could chase after her.

Lilith knocked the metal door hard and some grunts came from the other side, after a while an agent came out of it with an annoyed expression.

"What is it? We are very busy with- oof!"

The poor guy did not have time to finish his sentence because Lilith punched him on his stomach and pushed him over so she could enter. In the conference room Marcus was in the middle of giving a powerpoint presentation but he stopped mid sentence when he saw what happened. Several agents on the table got up and aimed at her with their guns but Steve came holding her ID for everyone to see and they all stopped.

"MARCUS!" After that yell Lawrence sighed and just walked sadly into the room.

"You should check your phone more often"

Fifteen minutes later

It took a lot of shouting and patience, but they managed to calm Lilith down. Marcus had to postpone the meeting (to everyone's annoyance) and apologize to the assaulted agent. After everyone left they started discussing the reason why she was here, they spoke quickly so he didn't catch much, but he got that she was mad at him for taking her spot.

"Okay, but what I don't understand about this is what made you change your mind so quickly, weren't you on vacation?" Marcus was rubbing the bridge of his nose in pure annoyance.

"Are you kidding me? This is literally my territory, I should be in charge of an operation this big"

"But you agreed that I could use this area when the summer started!"

"As a training ground for recruits! We both agreed that if something big happened you will notify me as soon as possible and give me back my spot! And I would certainly call the greatest crisis our organization has faced in this century something big!"

"But you were notified! And you declined to come so…"

"Declined to come? Did you really think I could stay in Hawaii after learning that my hometown is the center of a magical cataclysm? I tried coming earlier but those bureaucrats from HQ prevented me from doing so and you never answered my texts or emails"

"Texts?"

"I keep telling you to check your phone more often!" Lawrence scolded him, he couldn't believe that his whole mess happened because of him!

"I-I did! And last time I checked you were more than happy with staying there!

"Who told you that?" Lilith was looking at him, suspicious.

"Someone at headquarters contacted me to- ohh"

"Yeah, ohh. I'm pretty sure someone from there doesn't want me here, too bad for them"

"Agh, sorry about that Lilith. We have been so busy here that I didn't have the time to ponder on that" he took a moment to look at her cast "what happened to you there anyway?"

"Some 'incident' in hawaii. Apparently the airport security wasn't tight enough to stop a murderer from entering the plane"

"Jesus, are you ok?" Lawrence looked at her with worry.

"I'm fine. I managed to arrest the criminal before he injured anyone, but he was able to put up a fight before. But nevermind that, Marcus I expect a full report of the situation in my office for today, and I want to learn everything about the witches that are free from your mouth, got it?"

"Wait you don't have an office here yet" Lawrance couldn't believe it. This Lady just arrived and she was already taking over the place!

"Is the big office with the window looking to the city on the third floor available?"

*Sigh* "It's not, but I'll tell them to move…" Marcus looked like he had aged ten years.

"Thank you, now I expect to be fully in charge of this sector and-" the doors were opened with force before she could finish. Kikimora entered the office alongside her assistant Ralph, she had an angry look in her eyes.

"Marcus, what's this I'm hearing about postponing the meeting? Do you know how impo- Lilith!" Once they noticed the other woman in the room both of them stopped with a look of pure surprise "you… are… here"

"Yes she is Kiki. Now could you tell me why you didn't let me know that she called? It could've saved us this whole embarrassing situation" Marcus was giving her a hard glare and Lawrence suddenly understood who they meant when they were talking about 'someone in hq'.

"I-I" as incredible as it was, Kikimora was stammering. It seemed that, despite all of her wisdom and planning, she didn't see this coming.

"It doesn't matter now" Lilith interrupted them "What matters is that I'm here now and, since all of the chiefs are in this room, I'm going to take a moment to talk about the changes that are going to happen with me here" She took a second to breathe and everyone in the room just looked at her in anticipation "First of all, since this is my territory, I'll be in charge of the whole operation here. Second, Steve here will be in charge of the information gathering, it is quite obvious that we could do better in that area" Lilith glared at him and Lawrence grunted, that was his area! Was he supposed to go back to being an errand boy now? "And finally I'll be taking command of the strike team and you, Marcus, can go back to do the thing you were supposed to do here: Training our staff. I have seen what they can do and I'm not impressed"

"What do you mean by-"

"She trampled over our security guards to get here… in a wheelchair" he was still in awe of that.

"Ahh fine, I'll check the training schedule…"

"Wait, don't tell me you are actually agreeing to this! She can't just come here and do as she pleases!" Kikimora argued.

"Oh but I can, because once again, this my territory"

"This is not how it works! We have been working here for months!"

"Shall we submit it to a vote then? After all, all the higher ups of this location are present and that's how civilized people decide things"

Kikimora grunted and agreed. Then they voted and it ended up pretty much how Lawrence expected it would: Marcus, Lilith, Steve, and him voted against Kikimora and Ralph. In the end Lilith won and there was nothing Kiki could do to avoid it. At first Lawrence really wanted to abstain from voting, but he figured that it wasn't a good idea to stand in Lilith's way.

"She can't possibly be worse than Kiki, right?"

"Well then, it's decided. If you don't mind, I'll take my leave"

"Do you really have to sleep in here with your condition? I can arrange a hotel" Marcus offered.

"No, it's just for one night. I have… a place to stay" for the first time Lawrence could see a smile on her face. She and Marcus shared a knowing look before she turned around to leave "good evening, everyone"

Steve walked behind her and closed the door after giving them an apologetic look. The room stood in silence a few seconds after that.

"Don't tell me that you actually are going to let her get away with this. She can't just-"

"KIKIMORA!" Marcus' yell surprised everyone, even him. He hasn't seen such anger in the man's eyes, not even when he talked to Belos "If I were you I would be doing my best to stay quiet and follow orders. If you even attempt to do anything here I'll have you expelled from the case for tampering with our communications. Yes I know you were the one that kept Lilith from coming back, and don't try to deny it!"

The older woman just stood there, glaring at the Scottish man. Marcus turned around and sighed tiredly.

"Also next time you hire someone to kill one of my apprentices, try to not make it so obvious"

Kikimora humphed but didn't try to deny the accusation. She left the room and called her assistant to follow her, Ralph just shared a look of disbelief with him and jogged to join her, leaving him and Marcus alone.

"Somehow, I think things are going to get worse from now on"

-Eda-

The Owl house / Wednesday October 5th 20:00

"Eda! Where did you put the cat food again?" Luz's voice came from upstairs

"It's on top of the merchandise pile! Now hurry up and come help me fix this mess" Eda was holding a mop cleaning the floor, because of course a client would decide to puke on it today "Did you manage to hide the damn plant?"

"I tried to put her in the bag of holding, but terra doesn't like it" Her housemate came down holding a tray of books in her hand "where do you want me to put these?"

"Those were supposed to be in the attic! What are they doing down here?"

"I'm sorry, your organization system is really confusing"

"Agh we don't have time for organization! Just shove them in the basement, we'll figure something out later" Eda wrestled to fit an entire pile of clothes into a tiny case, once she accomplished that she hid it under her bed "Luz you better do something about your magic plant and owl in less than an hour or else I'll throw them in the chimney!"

"I'm trying to find owlbert but I don't see him anywhere! I think King scared him away again" their cat had taken a liking to Luz palisman and many times he tried to use it as a scratching post, which made the little owl fly away in fear. Eda found it amusing but now it was getting on her nerves "hey do you think it would be a good idea to hide terra in the backyard?"

"Didn't you say that the only thing preventing that plant from growing to the size of a building was the tiny flower pot it's in? Do you wanna destroy the house?" She took all of her illegal merchandise and started to pile it in the basement.

"Dang you are right" Luz was washing the enormous pile pile of dirty dishes that somehow both of them ignored for the whole day "I guess I'll just have to ask it to go back into being a seed for the time being"

"Great, that's perfect. Once you are done with that you can help me clean the cobwebs from the attic, that has been a long time coming" Asshe spoke she also looked for anything that could be considered illegal (permits, documents, medicines, records, her forage kit, weapons, and even her damned books) to stuff it in the basement.

"What? I'm never going to finish today! This is impossible!" She started scrubbing the plates with even more strength "This house hasn't been cleaned in months! Or even years! What made you think we could do this in a night?"

That statement was true. The owl house was chaos itself: Cobwebs on the ceiling, piles of books on the floor, squeaky old furniture, random posters and paintings decorating the walls, lots of trash and junk littering the rooms, it was the worst nightmare for an organized person and the kind of house children made stories about (Eda hated those little brats, they keep daring each other to touch her door or something every now and then). She usually kept the creepy vibe around the show on purpose and her clients thought it was to help sell the mysterious persona of the owl lady. If only they knew it was because she didn't care about cleaning.

"Yeah a heads up would have been nice, sadly my sister doesn't seem to work that way"

Yup that was right, the reason for this desperate cleaning was that her sister Lilith suddenly announced that she was coming not only for a visit, but she also planned on staying at the owl house for an indefinite period of time. Now this tends to happen like two times a year and usually Eda would be able to handle it with the proper warning of a week or two. However this time Lilith told her about her arrival this morning when Luz was in school, she remembered spitting her breakfast when she read the message.

Then it became a race to fix and clean everything in her house before her sister came home. Now usually she wouldn't care about her sister's ocd and her need to have an organized environment, in fact she was tempted to leave the house a mess and watch her struggle to live under these conditions, it would be really entertaining. However Lilith worked for the government and, although she doubted she would imprison her, she could always confiscate her not so legal possessions 'for her own good'. The last time Eda made her sister mad she had left her basically without any merchandise in her shop and Eda had to behave afterwards.

"No way I'm letting that happen again, no sir"

"Luz get down here! You left have to help me get all of these boxes before she comes" she bent down to try to pick one of the boxes up but she underestimated how much they weighted. She felt something crack and a wave of pain prevented her from moving "Ack! My back!"

"Eda! Are you ok?" Luz came from the kitchen and rushed to her side to help her up. Eda couldn't help but notice that despite the worry in her eyes she was actually holding back a laugh "I'm sorry, it's just that you sounded like…"

"If you call me an old lady I'm going to steal your tongue" she got back up and stretched, yep she definitely couldn't lift this "agh forget it. We won't be able to do all of this before she arrives. Kid I know we have an agreement about no magic for chores, but do you think that you could do something about all of this?" She gestured towards the house.

Luz took a moment to look at the dirty floor, the dishes she had to clean, and the boxes full of stuff. After a moment of consideration she nodded.

"Can you close the curtains? I'm going to do something big and don't want the neighbors to watch"

Eda would've argued that her neighbors had already seen and heard a lot of weird stuff coming from her house, so if they saw anything weird they might just think it was just another one of her tricks. However she was too tired to argue so she just went to close every curtain and blinder they had in the house (she thought that it might look suspicious if someone looked from outside right now).

When she was done Luz took a deep breath and started drawing her weird magic circles in the air. Within seconds almost every inanimate object in the vicinity started floating towards different directions: The books flung themselves inside of shelves, the brooms and mops started cleaning the floor, all of her furniture put itself in place, the dishes started washing themselves, and all of the boxes in front of her flew towards the basement. Eda looked around, marveled, it reminded her of that one old cartoon with Mickey Mouse in a wizard's hat. Unfortunately she did not have time to look around because she had to dodge a bottle flying straight to her face.

"Hey kid, watch out! You need to work on your aim here" as soon as she said that a piece of wood almost crashed into her.

"Sorry! It's really hard to be accurate with a spell as big as this. Sooooo, maybe wait outside?"

Eda puffed in annoyance but she did what she was told. She weaved to dodge all of the objects floating in the air to reach the door. Once outside she checked on her sister's messages to see how she was going, it would be really inconvenient if she were to appear early and saw all of this. Luckily that wasn't the case and all she had to do was wait until the noise inside quieted down (the amount of crashing sounds coming from there made her worry from time to time. After a while Luz called her inside and when she entered she could see that the house was in a better state than it had been in years.

"Whoa, nice work kid"

"Thanks, does this mean that I can have a pay raise?"

*Snort* "Not a chance kid, you should've asked for that before doing the work" she rubbed her hair affectionally as the girl grunted "now I'm going to prepare dinner, you can go rest now if you want to but first there's something I want you to do: You need to grab everything I've labeled as 'extremely illegal' and shove it down your infinite purse, you got it?"

"Ew, why do I have to do that? It's your stuff!"

"Because my sister is less likely to check a teenager's bag. Also, don't you want that pay raise?"

"Hmmmm, fine. But I get to bring my friends whenever I want!" Luz flashed her a cocky smile.

"Uugh, teenagers. Fine, you get that, now go" Eda watched as she grabbed the bag and ran excitedly to her room. She seemed happy, which was a good change from the last couple days. As she prepared the meal she reflected on her housemate's latest problem, her fight with another girl.

Now when Luz told her that she was getting into a fight she got really excited, it meant that her pupil was finally following her steps and not getting brainwashed by the school! So she gave her advice on how to confront her because, from what she had heard of Luz's stories, that girl was absolutely an entitled prick and totally deserved it. But she forgot to tell her that this girl not only was the star player of the basketball team, she also was the daughter of rich and influential people in the city, so of course there were unwanted consequences for punching someone like that… She really did not want to drive to the school to get her kid and endure yet another lecture from Hyeronimus but she had no choice.

FIve days ago:

"Edalyn, don't make this harder than it has to be" Bump always had been patient with Eda, but he seemed to be at his limit today.

"I am not doing much, Bumpy! I just want to know why my kid is getting detention while the other girl leaves with just a warning, you know she is not going to learn anything from this right?" After those words came out of her mouth she cringed, she was starting to sound like one of those entitled parents that pestered teachers whenever something happened to their children. Not wanting to digest that thought she focused on the principal in front of her "Luz was just as beaten and bloody as the other girl and the fact that there were people watching should tell you that this wasn't the one-sided beating they told you about"

"Yes I have witnesses defending both sides of the story, but the fact that those are friends with the girls they are trying to defend makes me doubt their intentions. So I asked other students and I got some mixed answers, but most of them agreed with Boscha's story"

"Interesting point, let me disprove that. Now that Smith girl is the queen bee of the school, am I correct?"

"She is the star player of the basketball team and also very popular, if that's what you mean"

"And Luz doesn't have any friends besides those two right?"

"As far as I know, yes"

"Well it's easy to see what happened isn't it? She got into a fight with Luz (I can't tell for sure who started it or why, but that doesn't matter) and made it public for everyone to see, but then my apprentice beat her ass" Eda couldn't help but feel a little pride at that "And now she is using her influence to spin things against her out of pure saltiness. You know how it is, jocks abusing their privilege"

"Yes, I remember that you used to do that as well when you played for the baseball team"

"Up-bup, we are not talking about me! Besides, you can't complain after all of the trophies me and my sister brought to this school"

Bump grumbled with disdain, which told her that he agreed with her.

"Now, going back at the our issue-"

"There's no issue here Edalyn. While your theory does not have any substantial evidence, I agree with it, the teachers have seen Boscha chasing after Luz ever since school started"

"Well there you have it man! She is clearly the one that started it! I'm not going to ask for Luz to get out of this with no punishment, but you have to do something about the other girl!" Eda crossed her arms and glared at her old teacher in defiance"

"Eda there's nothing I can do. And before you say something this isn't about the aforementioned jock privilege, even that has its limits" Bump was looking at her in a serious manner "The girl's parents are part of the school's council and they donate great sums to our institution, Boscha is determined to make sure that her mothers never hear about this and we agree with her. It would be bad for all of us, including you, if they get involved"

"Hey you can't just-"

"Eda. They are with the Blights, her mothers have high positions in their company"

That shut her up. No one dared to mess with the Blights or their associates, especially since Odalia became the mayor's right hand woman.

"Don't worry, we will make sure that something like this won't happen again and I will guarantee you that Boscha will stop bothering your protegee. In return Luz will have two weeks of detention, she did have a fight with another student after all"

"One week" Eda looked at him seriously.

*Sigh* "fine…"

Back to the present

Luz had been pretty mopey since then and there wasn't much she could do. Eda had the feeling that it wasn't just about the fight, but her school experience wasn't what she expected. She really wanted to tell her 'I told you so' but she doubted it would help the current situation.

The ringing of the bell managed to startle her from her thoughts, and the voice that came afterwards confirmed her suspicions.

"Edalyn! I'm here!" Lilith's excitement was palpable in her voice.

"I'm coming, I'm coming!" She stopped cooking for a second and quickly jogged towards Luz's bedroom "Kid, please tell me you did something with that plant"

"Yup" she showed Eda the green seed in her hands with satisfaction.

"Owlbert?"

"In his staff mode, hidden in my closet"

"King?"

"Already fed"

"The stuff I gave you?"

"Already in my bag"

"Good girl, now go get ready" she then went towards the front door and opened it. Before she could get a word out she felt something lunge at her and was enveloped in a bone-crushing hug.

"Eda! It's been so long!"

"Jeez Lily calm down, do you wanna break my ribs?" She took a moment to look at her sister and noticed something she wasn't expecting: Lilith had a cast in her left leg and a wheelchair behind her "oh wow, what happened? Did you step on a jellyfish in hawaii?"

"Oh this? Some jerk in the airport was rushing towards the gates and trampled over me. I fell down and landed on my foot"

"Jesus, are you alright?" Eda started checking on her to see if she was hurt in any other place.

"Relax the doctor said I'll be fine and you can bet that I sued the guy into oblivion, now let me inside I'm starving"

"Good. Because I made Mom's special stew" Lilith gave a happy humm at that.

As she entered the house Eda heard a squeaking noise, she realized that Luz was behind her and saw the whole exchange.

"I'm sorry it's just that this is the first time I see being this affectionate, it was really cute! Also hi, I'm Luz" Eda facepalmed as her sister went to greet her housemate.

"Hi Luz! It's so good to finally meet you!" Both of them hugged "I haven't heard from you since Eda told me you entered school, was the help I gave you with the exam useful?"

"Oh yeah definitely, I wouldn't have been able to pass without you. And school is… fine I guess"

"I'm glad to hear that, now tell me, has Edalyn been treating you right? I know how she can be so…" she trailed off while they marched towards the living room.

"Wait a second. Did she just forget that I'm right here?"

"Hey I can hear you, you know? And you forgot your luggage at the door!"

"Bring it over then, can't you see I'm hurt?" The amount of sassiness in her sister's voice told Eda that Lilith was more than capable of carrying it herself, even in her current state "if you don't hurry up we are going to start eating without you!"

Eda grunted and picked up her bags.

"Now I remember why I live alone"

Thirty minutes later

The meal was great. They joked and shared stories (Luz ended up knowing more stuff about her teenage years than Eda wanted to) while they ate one of their favorite foods their mother used to make. Lilith and Luz ended up bonding due to their dorkiness and similar attitude, and it seemed that the witch really enjoyed the company. The only thing that worried Eda was having their cover blown: Her sister was really intuitive and Luz was shitty at lying, that was a bad combination for whenever you wanted to hide something. Luckily her sister didn't ask about her backstory.

"I can't believe that you did all of those things to get her to school! You hate school! And you even apologized to Bump!" Her sister was starting to look a little red, Eda wondered when she was going to notice that she spiced her drink with some liquor.

"What can I say, I've learned that everyone has to pay for the stuff they have broken"

"You, taking responsibility for your own actions? I can't believe it! It's like you are a whole new person" Lilith hiccuped as she vaguely gestured towards her.

"Ok enough about me, what about you Lily? How was hawaii?"

"Agh, do not remind me of that place. The only things that I got from there are mosquito bites and sunburns! I swear this is the last time I let Steve convince me on going on a vacation"

"But I thought that you wanted to research about the history of that place, what happened?" She remembered her saying that she was looking forward to seeing the archeological places of the islands.

"Of course I wanted to! But my coworkers kept insisting we go to somewhere more 'fun' like a beach or a club, no one wanted to come with and I wasn't going to explore alone" she took another sip of her drink and grimanced "lets just change subjects. Luz, how is school going?"

The witch looked down with a sour expression "not… that good. This week I have detention"

"Detention? What for? Edalyn, have you been trying to corrupt this child into your ways?"

"Do you think I would've let her be in school if that's true?"

"I'm in detention for a fist fight" Lilith immediately started yelling at Eda "bu-but it's not what you think! This girl has been harassing me since school started, she wanted to beat me because I crashed into her once! I've been avoiding her for two months but I'm tired of it!"

"Didn't you try to talk to your teachers?"

"She is a member of a sports team, if you remember correctly that means you can do anything without getting caught"

"Ugh, do they still implement that barbaric custom? I'd thought that they would've changed the rules by now, considering the amount of things you got away with"

*Snort* "You say that now, but I remember you using those privileges back when you were team captain"

"Edalyn! I just used to snuck up around and read books, that's not comparable to fighting in the parking lot and vandalizing property. Besides-" Lilith tried to turn quickly to face Luz but then she grabbed her head and grunted.

"Are you ok?" Luz looked at her, worried.

"I'm fine, I just got dizzy" she frowned and then smelled her cup "Eda… what did you put in my drink?"

"Hah! About time you noticed that, four eyes. You have been sipping on that this whole evening!" She mocked her.

"Eda I have work tomorrow! Do you want me to deal with my job while hungover?"

"Relax Lily, I didn't put anything strong in it, it's not my fault that you are such a lightweight!"

Lilith started berating her but as soon as she opened her mouth a burp came out, she covered it with her hands and her face became red as a tomato. Luz could not hold it in and started laughing at her. The two of them looked at each other and started laughing as well. The three of them ended up almost falling from laughter. Eda whipped a tear and smiled. This felt right. It reminded her of those years back home, before her illness, before her life went to shit.

While she was remembering her old life she felt something stir inside her, Eda recognized it as her illness starting.

"Oh no, not now!"

-Luz-

Cliffside highschool / Thursday october 6th 17:45

As soon as she heard the bell ring Luz sighed and picked up her bag to get out of the bench she had been sitting on. Her friends had already left her, they were both very busy with their own extracurricular activities so they couldn't wait for her, and classes were already over, which meant that she was one of the few unfortunate souls that was present in this hour. She sadly dragged her feet towards the building she was supposed to go to. During the past week she had to go to one hour after school and she hated it, she just couldn't see the point of it: They just… put her and a couple of other kids in a classroom to do nothing, it was agonizing for someone as active as her, she preferred the torture of the conformatorium.

To make things worse Eda had an attack of her Illness yesterday during dinner and they couldn't find any of her pills, it turns out that she must have put them somewhere in the house while cleaning it with magic. They managed to buy more before anything bad happened, but she still felt awful about it.

"Eda was still weak when I left her this morning, this is all my fault" A thunder rumbled above in the sky and Luz looked at the grey clouds with annoyance, then she remembered she didn't bring her umbrella "And now it's going to rain, great."

It was too risky to use magic to shield her from the rain so she decided to sprint there. Luckily the place where they had detention wasn't that far away, so she arrived just partially wet. Once inside she could see the teacher that was in charge of keeping them here scrolling his phone like always, and she could also see her 'classmates: A short girl, who for some reason had a fishing hook as an earring. A lanky pale boy, who seemed to be always afraid. And an even shorter kid with glasses, he looked so young that Luz wondered if he skipped grades just like Gus.

"You are late" The teacher didn't even look at her "Take a sit"

She took a deep breath and sat alongside the other three teenagers.

"Hello fellow detentioners, room for one more?" As always they didn't reply to her, they seemed determined to avoid eye contact with her for some reason. Luz couldn't stand awkward silences, so she tried to fill it in "I… Like the spikes in your hair?"

"Hey! You all better be quiet! Unless you wanna scrub the classroom again" The guy actually looked at them from over his phone for once.

"Hey, don't blame any of them. I'm the one that started talking" Luz got up and looked at the white-haired teacher.

"Ohh, hurray. A hero" With that he opened a closet and grabbed a mop and a bucked and tossed them to her.

"Aww, farts" That day was getting worse by the minute.

Ten minutes later

Luz was scrubbing windows when she heard a strange noise. She looked back and saw that the teacher had fallen asleep, which wasn't a rare occurrence. But what really surprised her was the fact that the other students were nowhere to be seen, she started to look for them when she felt a hand on her shoulder.

"Eep!" She turned around to see the girl with green eyes staring right at her "Oh, it's you"

The girl took a finger to her lips to signal for silence and pointed to the sleeping teacher, who for some reason hadn't moved despite her scream. Then she made some hand gestures to follow her and exited the room. Without having anything else to do (And without caring if she was leaving detention), she walked alongside her towards the hallway. They arrived at a locker room, she went towards one of the lockers and opened after fiddling a little bit with the lock. Once she looked inside her jaw dropped: Instead of being the usual small space inside a locker that she was used to, this one seemed to elongate into a dark hallway that extended beyond what her eyes could see. The girl entered without hesitation and motioned for her to come. Luz followed, filled with excitement.

"Soooo, what is this place?" She asked once she entered and the other girl closed the door.

"This is the last room you'll ever see alive" She turned with a glare and an accusing finger towards Luz. Then her expression softened "Nah, I'm just messing with you. I'm Viney"

"I'm terrified- I mean, I'm Luz"

"I know, you are quite famous now" She kept walking inside the hallway and Luz went with her "Thanks for standing up for us back there. Not many people would do that"

"Oh, it's nothing. The guy is a jerk anyway" At this point the hall had gotten so dark they had to use their phones to see.

"Well, you are one of us troublemakers now. So you get special access to…" They arrived at a door and she opened it. Inside there was another bigger classroom filled with desks, cabinets, lockers, and doors. She could see a bunch of bags in the center of it and a wall covered in graffiti "The secret room of shortcuts!"

"Whoa…" Luz looked around, marveled.

"Hey Jerbo! Marcus! You can stop hiding now!"

One of the doors opened and the other two brunette boys from detention appeared behind it.

"How do we know she's cool, man?" The taller one looked at her warily "How do we know she won't turn us in?"

"She stood up for us back then, remember?" Viney looked at him with annoyance.

"What do you think Marcus?" He turned to the shorter guy.

"Hmmmm…" He came near her and examined up close for a long time "Her aura is strong and silly, like a baby's laughter, so I don't see how she could be harmful"

"Really? Welcome then!"

"Hah! I love secret rooms! What about all of these doors? What is this place?"

"This place is a classroom that was left unused when they did a new expansion in the building, they covered this whole thing by surrounding it with walls and expected to be forgotten but they didn't know that some of the exits were left unchecked. Then some years later someone found it and used it as a hideout" Viney pointed at the wall where there was a picture covered by paint and damaged.

"That was Lord Calamity" Jerbo spoke with admiration "They found this place and passed it to the next generations when they graduated"

"Yeah this place is really cool, if you ignore the rats, dirtiness, scary hallways, and the possibility that this may collapse under our heads" Marcus looked at her with amusement "But no, it's really chill. We come here all the time"

"Do all of these doors connect to another hallway?" Luz looked around, there were too many.

"Yup and those hallways lead to different lockers on this building, basically every room that has lockers is connected to this" Jerbo explained

"Wait, we just came from the girls changing room" Luz blushed as her mind ran with the possibilities this room might bring.

"Hah! I'm pretty sure this room has been used for that in the past" Viney guessed Luz's thoughts and slapped her back "But don't worry, we aren't perverts. Jerbo and I are gay while Marcus is ace, so you know we won't be using this room for that"

"Yeah, we mainly use it to get to class without being bullied by the jocks"

"Wait, going to class? I thought that you guys were troublemakers…"

"We like to call ourselves that but all of us are dork" The two boys complained at that and Viney smiled "We are in detention for the dumbest stuff: I ended up here because my puppy puddles snuck up in my backpack and traveled with me here, she got loose in the school and caused quite a ruckus during lunch"

"I got detention because I broke several flower pots and gardening equipment, but it wasn't my fault! I was hiding in the greenhouse because some guys wanted to beat me up" Jerbo looked quite pissed.

"The only thing I'm guilty of is being too real" Marcus gave her a smile filled with superiority.

"He's here because the teacher caught him playing hexes hol'em cards in class, for the third time…" Viney filled her in.

"Hey!" Marcus seemed bothered by that comment

"Huh, well I guess I'm the only one with a legit reason for being in detention then"

"That was the reason why we ignored you in the first days" Jerbo admitted "We just thought that you were a crazy violent girl, I mean… who even tries to fight Boscha?"

"Well I'm glad you proved us wrong, you made a great first impression. Would you like to add your name to the troublemaker wall?" Viney handed her a can of paint and smiled.

"The wha?"

Luz looked at the room better and realized that the graffiti that covered one of the walls was actually a bunch of names of different colors and sizes.

"The troublemaker wall is where we leave our mark for the future generations! The same way those before did for us!" Jerbo spoke with total confidence.

"So… what do you say? You in?" Marcus asked her.

Luz grabbed the can and jumped with excitement towards the wall. Maybe this day won't be so bad!

If you were wondering, Luz would've definitely won that fight, even without magic. Boscha might be stronger than her but she isn't used to being hit that much.

Also I have a headcanon for the show that also applies for this fic: here witches are inherently more athletic and physically stronger than humans, it's not by a large margin (if a human trains hard enough they can surpass a witch) but it does make a difference.

You probably have no Idea what the last line from Amity meant. If you go back and read the tenth chapter when Amity was about to meet Luz she said she hoped this person would be interesting.

Maybe the scene of the locker room wasn't really realistic without magic, but who cares.
