AN: Yo! Sorry for late update, pretty busy life.

Anyways, I'm shamelessly advertising one of my new fanfics: "DmC: Light and Darkness" is out now!

Without further ado, let's continue our tale, shall we?

In the realm of silence, a single loud noise can mean death, especially if the realm is a ruined city infested with demons. But even so, it seems as if this knowledge didn't stop him from playing...

A lone man in red sat atop of fallen debris, playing a curious melody on the strings of his guitar: the strange tune echoed through the destruction aimlessly, eventually assimilating with the background without so much of a trace.

Whatever happened around him, he didn't seem to mind, even when he heard a familiar garbled roar that would sent even the most courageous of soldiers running: from the scraping sounds of a rusted scythe to the manic laughter of a misshapen wretch, the man did not care. Instead, he smiled as he began adapting his melody just so these random noises could fit in with the tune.

Among the ranks of demons that followed the melody to its source, a Hell Caina suddenly lunged forward, its scythe poised to strike at the man's exposed back: but before the scythe's blade could sink into the soft, pudgy flesh, a loud sound was heard, causing the Hell Caina to change trajectory and splatter onto the ground.

As another demon lunged forward to attack, the loud sound returned again and the demon slumps onto the ground. This song and dance was kept on repeat: the demons suddenly dying as a loud noise echoes throughout the ruined city, while the man continues playing his guitar, unharmed.

Eventually, some of the demons had grown sick of watching their peers fall one by one and attacked all at once: with a toothy smirk, the man suddenly raised his free hand high into the air.

"This party's getting crazy, let's rock!" He said, before suddenly causing a large shockwave as he brought his hand down on the guitar strings, sending the demons flying backwards from the impact: as the demons were about to get back up, they see a large cluster of small, batlike entities looming over the stranger, their jaws crackling with electricity as they snap them open and close.

"Meat's on the menu boys, dig in!" He exclaimed, hearing the guttural roar of the demons as the bats came crashing down on them.

And thus, the loudest thunderclap ever recorded was born.

Continuing onwards in the journey, the van made its way slowly into the deeper levels of the city. While everyone went on with their business like it was any other day, Dante was washing up in the van's bathroom. After splashing water on his face, Dante stared at his reflection in the mirror: suddenly pulling down the collar of his shirt, it revealed a small scar hiding underneath, a scar he received during his family's battle with Mundus.

"You're really stepping up your game, aren't ya, Mundus?" He grimaced, touching the inflammed wound. He then began rummaging through the internal pockets of his coat, before pulling out a sickly-green glowing star that was smaller than the palm of his hand: crushing the small star in his hands, the half-demon could feel a small margin of his stamina returning. As he looked back to the mirror, he notices that the scar is now gone.

"Never thought I'd have to use that again..." he muttered, rubbing the spot where the wound was. Suddenly, tha van came into an abrupt stop, causing Dante to smash his head against the mirror.

"Ow! What the-" he was about to say, before a much louder voice interrupted him.

"God-fucking-damnit, MY VAN!!!"

"I even gave this lil' baby an upgrade on the engine too, what kind of fucker thought it'd be funny to total a gal's car!?"

As he got out of the van, Dante could see smoke rising at the front of the vehicle, along with the center of the swearing storm: moving to the front, he could see the women staring at Nico, who was pacing back and forth as she rubbed her temples.

"So... mind telling me what's going on?" Dante asked, snapping Nico out of her frustration.

"Oh I'll tell you what's goin' on" nevermind, she's still frustrated. "Do you know what that thing over there is?" She asked, gesturing to the large weapon embedded onto the van: it had a long handle made out of unearthly materials, and at the end to where the weapon was jammed into the van, a curved, glowing red blade is present.

"It's... a demonic spear..." he answered, his brows furrowed as he stared intensely at the otherworldly weapon. The cambion wasn't sure why, but for some reason, he felt a rather... uncanny familiarity when his eyes fell upon the spear...

Did he this weapon before? If so, when and where?

"It's a demon spear alright, means some underwordly asshole totaled the van" Nico explained, sighing. "with this kinda damage, I'm afraid she's unable to go any further"

While the rest of the group were talking, Ei slowly approached the demonic spear. As her hand moved to grab the spear's shaft, the environment around her suddenly changed: where she once stood in a ruined city, she now stood in a land covered in shadows. A strange feeling of ancient dread suddenly washed over her as eyes fell onto a monstrous entity that floated before her:

A bipedal Titan shrouded in shadows, with six large wings that kept it afloat. Antlers grew on a helmetlike head, all with something similar to a T-shaped visor that glowed a dark red like its chest.

She quickly pulled her hand back before it could've done anything, pulling her out of the land of nightmares and back to the real world.

"You alright?" Dante asked, noticing her startled figure.

"I do not know if I was under an illusion, but I saw great evil in that spear" Ei explained, keeping her hand close to her as her gaze never left the spear. "A large being, one that could represent the eyes of the abyss..."

"You think you can explain any further?" Trish spoke up.

"Well-" before she could continue, a loud thunderclap echoed throughout the skies: the group watches as the world suddenly descends into chaos, wrestling against an unearthly storm that dared defy its rules. And in the center of the storm, three glowing orbs appeared through the crackling of red lightning bolts.

"After all these years, you still pull overdramatic entrances" Dante called out to the orbs, "why don't you just come out and show yourself already, Mundus!?"

"Your trivialities matters not, there are much more important affairs I must tend to" affairs? What does he mean by that? Before disappearing from sight, the demon emperor added: "Until then, why not play with an old friend?"

After uttering those last words, the spear began wriggling itself free the van's hold. And much to Nico's chagrin, the spear ends up slicing the van's front side completely.

The weapon eventually falls onto the concrete road, secreting a strange black miasma from its blade: it didn't take long for the miasma to suddenly grow larger, eventually taking form of an entity as it pulls the spear from its place.

From the sharp antlers on its head to the wings protruding from its back, Ei unconsciously brought her hand closer to her chest: down to the smallest details, it was a perfect copy of the entity she saw when she held the spear. As the large demon looked at the group one by one, Ei suddenly froze as she felt the demon's piercing gaze fall on her.

This... sudden feeling of despair, how long has it been since she felt it?

"Well well well... to think who was once the first king of demons is now a slave" Dante goaded, "oh how the mighty have fallen, wouldn't you say? Pluto?"

"Kill..." the first king spoke, his voice barely audible: he then suddenly raised his spear, its crimson-red blade begin to glow as large groups of demons suddenly appear around them.

"Seems he's not alone" Lady remark, drawing her launcher.

"Looks like it" Trish added, pulling out Alastor.

"Hey, uh, you gals got any spare guns I can borrow?" Nico piped up, "feelin' kinda naked here..."

"Heh, why don't you ladies take care of the leftovers?" Dante suggested, manifesting two familiar scimitars in each hand. "I'll go after the full course meal"

He then brought the scimitars together and spun them towards Pluto, creating a vortex of fire and wind.

"Ashes to ashes!" Agni shouted

"Dust to dust!" Rudra chimed in

"What's the matter, Pluto? Can't take the heat?" Dante taunted, watching as the first king of demons be consumed by the firestorm. Although it seems as if the battle was in his favor, he can't seem to shake off this sense of paranoia that clouded his mind.

That was, until, it nearly hit him square in the face: something came charging towards him, slicing through the winds and flames the twin swords emitted. Had Dante not caught it between his blades, it could've poked his eye out.

"That spear..." Rudra muttered

"Could it be?" Agni questioned

"I told you two: No. talking." Dante scolded, flicking the spear away with the brothers. He was suddenly aware that Pluto was nowhere to be found. Keeping the demonic scimitars close to his body, Dante waited for a sign. He suddenly sensed a killing intent from behind, placing the scimitars behind his back as he blocked an oncoming swing that pushed him forward.

Pluto brandished his weapon in front of the devil hunter, before suddenly manifesting dozens of copies onto the air.

"This party's getting crazy" Dante smirked, brandishing his own weapons. "Let's rock!"

"Thank god, my workshop's still fine..." Nico sighed in relief, inspecting the interior of the van. She looked out of the vehicle's window to see the other women nearby, fighting against the hordes of demons that the first king had summoned: she can't exactly help them out, she's a gunsmith, not a gunslinger after all.

As she began rummaging around her workshop for weapons, she stumbled upon a stack of research papers belonging to her bastard of a father: they were all filled to the brim with the littlest details of many demons, spanning from the nuerotoxic sacs of Chaos demons to the ever destructive behavior of a behemoth. As she examines the pieces of info, a lightbulb forms around her head as she grabs a piece of paper and begjns sketching.

"If Nana Goldstein can juice up a squirtgun until it take out an elephant, then I can make one that cantake out a demon" she rejoiced, drawing up a design. "Time to show them the Goldstein pièce de résistance!"

"Alright gals, listen up!" Nico called out to the women fighting, "I'm cookin' up something extraordinare and I need you guys to help me get ingredients"

"Gee, I'd like to help but- wait, hold on" Lady replied, before firing a rocket at a small group of demons.

"We have a lot of our hands currently" Trish added, turning Pandora into a large lazer.

"I ain't saying we should go to the forest and start scavenging some berries and whatnot" Nico said, "when there's plenty of crops here we can harvest!"

"You don't mean..." Trish trailed off, only for Nico to smirk in response.

"Yup! So here's what we're gonna do" Nico began, "Lady, I need you to skin every giant lizard you find. Trish, get me some of them teeth and couple of bones, preferably the ribcage and their femurs. And finally! Nero's mama!"

"Yes...?" Ei asked, awaiting what the young woman is going to say.

"See those spinning things over there?" The young gunsmith asked, gesturing to three chaos demons rolling in the battlefield like giant sawblades. "Those guys gots a sac that hold nuerotoxic fliuds, think you can get me those?"

"Sure, but why do you need such a organ?"

"Just a little Goldstein secret, now hop to it!"

As the women began to go to work, Nico watches as three different piles slowly begin to rise. Putting on her work outfit, she carefully grabbed her ingredients and began crafting one of the most bizzare things she'd ever make: mixing in demonic parts with her own alloys, the young gunsmith smiled as she took it all in.

"Nana, I hope I made ya proud" Nico said, attaching the final piece together to her makeshift demon gun. Kicking down the van's door wide open, she shouted as far as her lungs could handle: "alright bitches! Which one of you is ready for an asswhoopin'!?"

Dante swung wildly in all directions, causing multiple spears to bounce off as they clash against the firestorm blades. As the copies disappear into dust, Dante nimbly sidestepped out of the way as Pluto violently swung downwards.

"Man, is that all you got? Even our first fight was much more harder than this" the half demon taunted, "guess all that Mundus juice was nothing but a hoax"

"Kill..." The first king growled, pulling his spear out of the broken concrete. Pluto then quickly made a dash towards Dante, only for the devil hunter to dodge before the spear could impale his abdomen.

"Seriously, can you say anything else other than 'kill?'" Dante grimaced, "it's getting really annoying now"

"No..." Pluto replied, only for Dante to feign anguish in response.

"Okay, now that's mean. I'm genuinely hurt"

Dante quickly plunged both blades into the ground, creating a projectile that hastily made its way towards Pluto. As Pluto intercepted the attack with his own, he didn't realize that Dante attacked in a different angle, managing to get a cut across his chest. Infuriated, Pluto lunged towards the half demon, only to see Dante smile as he snapped his fingers:

"Stand still"

A temporal wave soon erupted from his fingertips, inverting the colors of reality around them as Pluto slowly began to stop in his tracks.

"Didn't expect that one now, didn't you?" Dante grinned, looking at Pluto's frozen body. "And now it's time for the big finisher"

But before he could deal the final blow, a sudden crack appeared on the demon king: to the devil hunter's surprise, the crack began to grow bigger and bigger. Until finally, it broke apart...

Along with the effects of the temporal wave...

Dante quickly swung his blades downwards, only to be parried by the bigger spear: with just a silver of a chance, Pluto quickly took initiative and jammed his spear through Dante's abdomen.

"Kill..." Pluto spoke again, only for another voice to speak up:

"Hey, thought I told you it was getting annoying"

To Pluto's surprise, the impaled body suddenly dispersed into shadows: dozens of plasma bolts suddenly appeared and struck the demon king, ricocheting off of his body and striking him again. As he swatted away the plasma bolts with his spear, Pluto looked up to see a grinning devil hunter on top of a large debris, wielding a strange arm cannon.

"What? Did you think that I'd be the same man you met back then?" He smirked, before replacing the arm cannon with a strange demonic scythe. "like a fine wine, I'd just get better with age"

Jumping off of the large debris, Dante brought his scythe down on Pluto in a dramatic fashion, causing a large thunderbolt to fall from the sky: but much to the devil hunter's chagrin, the blade of his scythe was intercepted by the shaft of Pluto's spear. As Pluto pushed him away, Dante grinned as he stop the gap between them from widening.

"Alright, round two" he chuckled, lunging towards Pluto. As he got closer in order to attack, he heard a word from Pluto's nonexistent mouth that caught him off guard:

"Me..."

"Wha-" Dante muttered, before receiving a gash across his chest. Although not exactly lethal, Dante could feel his wound slowly becoming more and more inflamed, his tissues refusing to heal themselves like it usually does.

As Pluto continued with his onslaught, Dante noticed something was wrong:his attacks became more and more rigid as time went on. And his movements that were once free-flowing, now felt forced with every step.

Pluto's mind and body had begun to argue, one refusing to listen to the other as his movements grew slower. Using the opportunity presented to him, Dante quickly swung his scythe towards the demon king's neck, cutting his head clean off.

As Dante watches as Pluto's body disappear into dust, he heard a disembodied voice echo throughout his mind.

"Thank... you..."

"Phew! There sure were a lot"

"Indeed"

The ladies look around their surroundings, examining the corpses of demons scattered throughout the ground. Lady was the first to turn away from their handiwork, instead changing her focus onto the new gun held by Nico's hands.

"You thinking of making another gun for Nero?" Lady asked, examining the gun made out of demon parts.

"Oh fuck no! I'm gonna hang this right next to the .45 Caliber Art Warks!" She happily exclaimed. Although after examining her masterpiece one more time, her expression changed. "But... where the hell am I supposed to find a large frame?"

"Looks like you ladies had quite a party" another voice spoke. As the ladies turned to the direction of the voice, they see white haired devil hunter, all with a large gash stretched across his chest: as he looked over to the genocide of demons, he whistled in astonishment. "Seems to me I missed out all the fun..."

"God, Dante, what happened to you?" Trish asked, examining the large wound.

"Stubborn bastard, tougher than some, though" Dante replied, "Mundus' power must've nullified my healing somehow. So instead of being a dashing, super strong half-demon hunter, I'm now just a dashing human, who just happened to be super strong. At least Pluto's recompensating with this though..."

With one hand, Dante manifested the exact same spear Pluto wielded, brandishing the mighty weapon's might for all to see. "Two loudmouths wouldn't stop talking about it during the fight, so it could come in handy later"

"That's nice and all, but we still gots other problems" Nico spoke up, "Van's still kinda banged up. Unless there's a place that sell car parts nearby, I'm afraid we're kinda stuck here"

"Alright, guess I can do a little grocery-shopping" Dante thought aloud, "so what do you need?"

NEW DEVIL ARM UNLOCKED: ABYSSAL SPEAR

A fearsome weapon that once split the world into two. Those who challenge the spear will be bounded into an unshakable destiny where their souls are destroyed by its terrible blade

Meanwhile...

Everything was falling apart way too fast

Nero sunk his teeth deep into the neck of a Blade demon that attempted to restrain him, violently tearing off its jugular with a savage pull. He then kicked away from the demon as the it crumpled onto the ground, before spitting out the foul blood that stained his mouth.

Re-equipping himself with a greatsword he dropped, Nero lunged towards a large demon that a group of Favonian knights were engaging against: it swung its scythe with such fervor tenacity, seemingly growing stronger from the pained cries of the knights caused by each successful damage it inflicted. Nero quickly intercepted another one of its attacks before it could've dealt a fatal wound, before plunging the greatsword deep into the demon's skull.

More agonizing cries could be heard everywhere around him, causing Nero to internally panic as it begins to cloud his decisiveness: he normally works alone or in groups of three, never in his life had he tried to assist the equivalent of an entire faction of knights. He was a devil hunter, not a captain damn it!

His moment of indecisiveness allowed an opening for a hell lust to suddenly lunge at him, its scythe scratching the flat part of the greatsword as Nero managed to put it up in time to block the oncoming attack: two arrows landed onto the eyes of the demon, before suddenly bursting into flames as the demon was consumed by the inferno. Nero turned to the direction of where the arrows were fired, only to see a familiar Outrider waving at him as their gazes met.

"Go get the others to the cathedral, I'll be fine!" He hollered, before returning back into the fray. He quickly took the route that led him to one of the nearby groups scattered throughout the town, cutting down the demons they were currently fighting against: Nero slammed his blade down on an angelo knight, shredding its armored skin like a hot knife through butter. The other angelo was soon poised to strike at the young hunter's head, only to suddenly freeze up as Kaeya ran his sword through its chest

"How many... more of them... are there?!" Kaeya panted, leaning on his own sword to support his footing. It's only been a few hours since the battle began, but the demons were already exhausting both their manpower and stamina.

"The horsemen stayed behind and kept conjuring these damn things!" young hunter exclaimed, "get to the cathedral with others, our last stand will take place there while I go take out their power source"

"You going to be alright on your own?" Kaeya asked, only for Nero to laugh it off.

"Ha. I may look like crap right now, but these guys ain't got nothing on me!" Nero chuckled, before running off to the opposite direction of the cathedral. Every single moment in running through the chaos within the city, Nero wondered what went wrong that lead to where they were now.

AN: looks like I got some explaining to do since I didn't update this for a couple of months...

Classes are back and I've been trying to brainstorm ideas for a chapter, as for what the couple of months suggest, I had terrible luck with ideas just like Dante with women. So I somewhat took a break with one of the months, felt better and tried to continue writing. Again, little luck. Had to keep restarting the chapter.

Made another fanfic in hopes I can flow my ideas out more by establishing the new ideas I had, but it just made me get new ideas that weren't relevant to the crossover fic.

So anyways, I'm not dead, I'm back and somewhat better than ever... which is why it hurts me to say I'll be putting the crossover fics on hiatus. Yes, both of them.

I'm going to be researching a lot of characters in order to understand their actions, personality, and overall... them? Idfk. In hopes I don't do anything too OOC (although I get the feeling I already did once or twice.)

Until then, I hope you guys enjoy this close to 4K words chapter.
