Chapter Ten: The Interview.
It had been another few months since they rescued Amira and Leah, and Ritchie and Brandon met Amira and began to call her little sister. Today was an important day for Ritche and Brandon, it was the day that the royal family would announce that Divinus Magia was now a royal guild. After the announcement they would be interviewed for their opinion and then their family would be interviewed for their opinion.
The previous day guards had come and escorted them to the palace to be prepared for the interview. Right now they were getting ready for the interview with the royal media interviewer. Ritchie wore a dark blue suit with a yellow tie and buttons and cuffs. Brandon wore a similar suit only in his preferred colors of white and purple.
Currently Ritchie and Brandon were sitting in a dressing room getting ready for their interview. Ritchie wore his hair normally and Brandon did the same. They never liked styling their hair, so they kept it natural. They were talking about the current events that their guild was going through.
"I can't believe that our guild is a royal guild now." Ritchie smiled happily at his brother. Brandon nodded in thought about everything that would be going on later on that day. After the interviews would be a Royal Guild Council meeting to bring Ritchie and Brandon up to speed on what they needed to know as members of The Royal Guild Council.
"I know… I think this will be good for both of us. It means will be able to see Father Reaper and the rest of our old guild. Plus, this means that you'll be able to see your boyfriend more often than you used to. I heard that he was planning on switching to our guild soon…" Brandon smiled softly.
Ritchie blushed at the thought of his boyfriend. He was glad that his boyfriend was coming to live with them. The reason for this was Devin was jealous of his brother Michael for becoming leader instead of him. While Michael had made him second in command of the guild, he still felt a bit bitter towards Michael. However, he didn't want these feelings to tear them apart. So, he hoped that by changing guilds that would lessen the bitter feelings in his heart.
Ritchie smiled at the thought of his boyfriend moving in with them. Living on an island that only got boats to take guild members on quest made it hard to spend time with Devin, but they hadn't been allowed to make their guild hall in the capital or any of the surrounding cities, so the only option left was to get an island and make their guild there.
The two guild leaders sat talking about their day when there was a knock at the door to the dressing room. A voice called from the other side of the door that sound like a woman in her early twenties. "Excuse me Royal Guild Leaders Ritchie and Brandon. Can I come in?" The woman asked with a smile. The Guild Leaders allowed it seeing has there was a list of people that were allowed to come in before the interview and one of them was the royal public relations manager for their guild. The Royal Guild Council PRM had met with them yesterday to introduce them to their public relations manager. They knew she was scheduled to meet with them one more time before the interview to go over their plans for it.
She was a woman in her early twenties with white skin and slightly brown freckles with short brown hair and blue eyes. Her bangs her swept to her right and the rest was tied in a ponytail. She wore a white button up with a light blue blazer, green tie, and a matching pencil skirt paired with black stockings.
The woman named Edna Flores smiled and took her seat. "Alright you two, I know that this isn't your first time out on the public eye since Steve told me you two were princes in your home kingdom. I'm sure that you already know this but your father's way of dealing with the media when needed will not work here. With the ways dark guilds can be discreet with things like where your family lives and stuff of that nature. There have been times that they had been used against guild leaders in the past. That goes without saying that you also need to keep what their magic is on the down low along with the family life of your guildmates and yourselves on the down low, unless there in a royal guild themselves that is. The less about their magic and family the public knows the better. Basically just keep your interview to guild related matters and current events. You got all of that?" Edna Flores asked with a smile.
Ritchie and Brandon nodded. It made since and it worked with what they had planned. With that they were quickly escorted by a group of guards to the set we're the interview was going to take place. The set wasn't too bad. There were some lights, but not enough that it blinded someone, and the stage was decorated with the colors of Divinus Magia with the guild's mark in the background.
The interviewer was named Teresa Wilder. She was the new manager for the royal family. She was dress so fancy for the occasion you'd think she was attending a ball instead if it weren't for the formal look she had going. She had a fair skin tone with brown hair done up in a neat high ponytail in a dark turquoise ribbon and had a silver gem in it connected to matching turquoise beads. Her eyes were brown and had turquoise eye shadow on the eyelids. She also wore gray earrings in the shape of Atlantide's emblem.
Her dress was a matching color to the ribbon in her hair with a matching gray sheer fabric to her earrings wrapped around her waist. It actually matched the sleeves of the dress which was on the side of her shoulders and under the turquoise sleeves that opened up and revealed the gray sheer fabric underneath. She also had a gray star necklace and turquoise gloves with brown boots with sliver soles and buckles.
The woman approached her interviewees with a big happy smile. "Ah, Edna, good timing, we're just about to start and it wouldn't due for the star Interviewees not to be present when we go on air. Hello, you two, I'm Teresa Wilder. I handle all the interviews for the royal guilds. Not that they happen often. More often than not I'm just behind the scenes making sure that no news stations are purposely spreading any libel or slander. When it's not that I'm interviewing the royal family." Teresa smiled energetically.
"Nice to meet you Mrs. Wilder. How are you doing today?" Smiled Brandon a little nervously. Ritchie moved to his brother's side and held his hand to remind him that he was here. Brandon squeezed back and smiled.
"I'm doing well enough, though I did have to deal with a few complaints about some news stations spreading slander and libel. Not that it's unusual but still. It makes me made sometimes when someone tries to lie about someone to hurt them when we're all just trying to get by in the world." Teresa sighed sadly. She then looked at the time and nodded. "I'd love to talk to you more before the interview, but I have to make sure everything else is ready before we begin. See you in a few moments." She said has she skipped off to check on everything.
A few minutes later she was sitting in her seat on the set and the cameras were rolling and she turned to the cameras with a big smile on her face. "Hello Atlantide, and welcome to the 45th new royal guild announcement interview! You've all been waiting for this since the day of the announcement. We have a new guild joining the ranks of the Royal Guilds of Atlantide! And today you'll be able to finally find out which one. I know you all are eager to learn the name of the newest royal guild, so let's get right into the action! They're the guild with plenty of action, not one but two guild leaders in charge of the pack, and two-time winner of third place in the GMG, It's Divinus Magia!" Teresa shouted happily as the crowd cheered. The banner in the back that had been rolled up prior to the audience entering so it wouldn't be revealed, unroll itself so that the audience could see the guild mark of the newest royal guild.
After a moment of cheering the crowd went quiet and Teresa smiled. "Let's meet the guild leaders of the guild. You know them from their record shattering performance at their first time in the GMG when they were serving time for their demons taking control under The Wondering Coins and their guild leader Reaper. It's the Diabolus Twins, Ritchie and Brandon Diabolus!" Smiled Teresa has the twins walked on stage.
Teresa smiled as Ritchie and Brandon took their seats on the set. "So Ritchie, Brandon, the public has sent in a lot of questions for you and I'm hoping you'll answer them within reason. We filtered out the more personal ones but it's possible that some that are too close for your comfort slipped thorough. Anyways let's get started. The first question of the night is from "The Daily Atlantia" What were you thinking when you made this guild?"
Ritchie answered the question with a smile. "Well after we were controlled by our demons for a year. We realized that there could be others affected by their magic like we were. So we made a guild that took in ex-cons like us who feel remorse for their actions so that we could help them like Reaper did for us."
"I see… that actually leads nicely into my next question from "The Ocean Wave Daily". What was it like training under Reaper and his guild? Oh that's a good one considering how little Reaper talks about his guild." Teresa smiled.
Brandon thought for a moment before giving his answer. "He was a great teacher. Not only did he teach us how to control our magics but about how life in Atlantide worked. He also taught us about how being a guild leader worked and what their responsibilities are. The lessons were hard, yes, but they were helpful, and we learned a lot from them."
"I bet so considering the wondering coins have won the Grand Magic Games for the last eighteen years since he took over for the coins. Every student that's studied under Reaper has undergone a transformation power wise. In fact that's why the guild leaders are some of Atlantide's strongest wizards." Teresa smiled enthusiastically. She then looked down at the list of questions and read out the next one.
"Alright then this one is from "The Celeri Daily Prophet" they ask, "What are your plans for your guild now that it's become a royal guild?"" Teresa asked with a cheerful tone.
"Well, we are currently in talks with the royal family working on arranging a guard station on our island for when royal guild protocols need to be enforced. Has for our guild directly we're planning on doing a complete remodel of our guildhall so that there can be more room for more members and our families that stay with us on the island if they do." Ritchie replied with a smile.
"That's good, I bet your definitely going to need more room in the place considering how small it is currently. Good thing the Royal Guild Council provides funding for that upon the guild becoming a member of the council am I right. Then again you already have a lot of savings from your sponsorships, don't you? Speaking of sponsorships this next question is from several news outlets and many people including myself want to know this. "Is it true that one of the cousins of Royal Guild Leader Brianne Moondust? If so which cousin, is it?"
"That would be Mario Divil. I won't be revealing why he he's in our guild has he has asked us not to do so but that's all that you need to know." Brandon smiled has he answered. The interview continued for a while with questions about life of the island and the like and Brandon and Ritchie answering the ones they could. Soon enough, time was up, and they passed their guild on their way backstage.
While they waited for their first council meeting, they went back to their dressing room to wait and watch the interviews. Their guild did relatively well with their handling of the interview. There we're a few slip ups, but that was to be expected of their lot. Has soon has their time was up and they were escorted off stage for the next interview to begin. It was Michael and Devin's turn. Ritchie stared intently at the screen. It went fairly well for an interview about his boyfriend's guild. There were a few questions asking about his and Devin's relationship, but they agreed to keep that private. If asked Devin would say that they were just close friends. Not that it satisfied the media. Dating the second in command of a royal guild had taught him that the media didn't settle for vague information.
After that was Reaper and Shades. Their interview mainly consisted of questions about what it was like to train the Diabolus twins. It was rather tough to avoid questions about the twins past, but they managed. Though Teresa didn't like interviewing them. None of the interview hosts like interviewing the leaders of The Wondering Coins and Grimshade. They were far too secretive for their taste.
Finally it was time for Bri's interview. It went well, better even, than the last two interviews. Growing up in a noble household and the daughter of a guild leader, she had been taught how to handle the media in many aspects such as interviews and press conferences if needed. After all she had been named heir to her guild when she was 8 years old due to her talent for magic.
With that in mind, Ritchie and Brandon were busy getting ready for their introductory meeting that was scheduled to be two hours from now. For the first time since they left The Wondering Coins, they wore the uniforms of the Royal Guilds only instead of The Wondering Coins guild mark they had their guild mark emblazoned on the spot that the guild mark was located.
"It's been a while since we wore something like this hasn't it." Brandon smiled at the memories from their time with the coins. Ritchie nodded has he adjusted the cape that came with the uniform.
"It definitely has brother. I wonder what they will talk about at the meeting. I hear that they have a lot to cover for us. We should probably check on the guild before we head to the meeting though." The older twin smiled at his younger twin with a smile.
"Indeed so far everything seems fine. But we still need to choose a successor pro tempore in case one of us can't make it to a meeting. So far Natalie is doing well in her training, but she still needs to learn how to handle her powers. I don't think she's ready for S rank let alone A rank." Brandon said understandingly.
"Yeah, your right, she still fears them too much has well. While it's important for a Devil Slayer to be able to monitor their demon they can't always fear them. Afterall sometimes it might be necessary to tap into their power far more than the surface level." Ritchie nodded with a frown.
"Indeed but we still need to choose someone. Rosea isn't quite S rank yet though she is getting close. She just has to work on her stamina and mana reserves. Mario is only C still and even though he was eligible for third in command, or second in our guild's case he's too quick to anger. David is only B and he well… not the person I'd chose to deal with media related items. Not to mention Zaro is always drinking. Still don't know how he stays sober despite all that alcohol and Devin isn't part of the guild yet since their still in the middle of transferring to us." Brandon sighed in though about the guild members.
"Well from what we know one can be a part of the council for a temporary amount of time if the guild pays a fee for it. So with that in mind we have two options. We can have Zaro be second in command and then have Rosea take his spot after she becomes S, or we can have Rosea be second in command and pay the fee for it. Personally I think the guild would be best off if Rosea was second. Has much as a trust Zaro he doesn't seem like the type that would like to do all the paperwork and stuff involved with being second." Ritchie noted with a frown.
"I agree with you there, I think Zaro would be happier being in charge of training instead of paperwork. Say speaking of guildmembers you heard that the annual guild recruitment show is going to start soon. Maybe we can find someone who wants to join there. Who knows we might be able to find someone capable of handling the role of secretary since we need a guild member in that role to despite the fact that we have Father Drake and Mother Marcelina already in that role." Brandon smiled happily.
They spent the rest of their time talking about the guild and their family until two guards came and escorted them to the royal guild meeting. The meeting itself went well when it came to information sharing. It was mainly covering what the royal guild's policy would be regarding doing business in Horedora and the like. Thanks to Ritchie and Brandon's limited but still far more vast knowledge of Horedoraian politics they were able to come up with a plan for when the Royal Guild Council had to meet with the ambassador of Zathage in a few months' time.
