Chapter Elven: The Party Begins

It was getting close to nighttime now. The party to celebrate Divinus Magia becoming a royal guild was set to start in an hour or so at this point. It wasn't going to be as fancy as the coronation party that Ritchie and Brandon attended nearly a year ago now. Not that it bothered them has they understood why this was. That and they also didn't want it to be. They just wanted the same kind of party that every new royal guild was thrown when they were given the title. Not that that was a hard ask for the king who, after learning a bit more about the leaders of Divinus Magia, could understand why.

Right now in one of the palace's ballroom dressing rooms Josephine was in the ballroom dressing room that she had been assigned for the party she'd be performing at. As she had been promised she had a number of false identities that were approved. Right now she was Andrea Andrews, her professional singer form when on stage went by Alicia Raine. She had performed at a few clubs and guild halls since the agreement between her parents and the royal family of Atlantide. But not once had she performed for the royal family yet. But that doesn't matter now though. Right now she was Andrea Andrews, the singer that would be performing at the party for the first half.

Like the majority of Horedoraians she had a gift. Her gift was called "Appearance Change". It allowed her to make a new look for herself with each tire she unlocked and could change back into them at will so long as they were within her gender and age. She used this to make her identities. When she was Andrea Andrews, she kept her look very simple. She had brown hair and blue eyes, very simple and inconspicuous from the eyes of an outsider. Afterall brown hair and blue eyes wasn't a rare or even uncommon genetic combination.

She had to hand it to King Steven and his staff, they knew how to take care of guests. The Dressing room she was in wasn't half bad at all. In fact it was the best she'd ever seen, and she had been in a lot of dressing rooms with her aunt. When she was younger, she would go with her aunt to her shows, and she would take her into the dressing rooms and wait until she got ready to make sure that the audience didn't try anything with the young girl and none of them compared to this one.

It was nice and clean like it hadn't been used before. The room's temperature was kept pleasantly warm and stayed that way the entire time she was getting ready. She noted that the room was set up to make getting ready easy for the performers in the room. The walls were the same white that most of the castle was. While the floor was oakwood and had a turquoise and gold carpet over it. To the room's left was a dresser for her after show clothes to be hung up on with hangers already set up. On the table in the back was an assortment of food, water, and some puzzle books for her to do while she waited for her time to go on stage. There was also a book shelf filled with books of all sorts of genres from mystery to horror and even romance. She wasn't going to lie; she liked this better one the other the dressing rooms she had been in at the clubs that she had performed at during her time in Atlantide so far.

But that wasn't what mattered right now. What mattered was that she had to get ready for the show. She had been in here for an hour or so by now. She had been sent here after a meeting with King Steven about her role as ambassador to get ready even though the show wasn't for a few hours still at that point. It made since that he did, after all who would want to get on stage and sing right after a meeting on ? She was thankful that there was a bed in the room for her to lay down on while she waited. While it wasn't recommended that she slept before the show and the bed was normally used when performers had to arrive the night before to be on time to get ready for their performance in the morning they wanted to lay down while they read a book that she had brought with her.

She had already put on the dress that she had chosen for this performance. A simple dark turquoise spaghetti strap dress with dark lime green tassels that simmered slightly pared with matching-colored gloves, gold bracelets and brown sandals with a matching green necklace.

When in her tire one form has this form was called, she kept her hair short and in a bob style. It made it easier to get ready. Brush it until it looks nice and neat, put something in it and the crowds will think that you look like a star no matter what. One less thing she had to worry about before getting on stage and performing. In Josephina or in Andrea in this case she had a fore small gem circlet in her hair that looked nice and worked with the look that she was going for.

Afterall of that it was time for makeup. She didn't do much with it, like the Diabolus twins she liked things simple. Just some stage makeup so the lights didn't make her blend in aside from her dress, Some turquoise eyeshadow, and some subtle lipstick. So far, her fans liked this look has most of the other performers went all out and sometimes too much with the makeup.

Josephina looked at herself one last time in the mirror before heading out of her dressing room. Many performers both on Horedora and Terrarium went by stage names when performing. This actually worked in her favor when it came to the whole "Secret Identities" thing. She had actually looked into this while making this identity and found that out of about 200 performers, 150 of them used government approved false identities alone here in Atlantide.

Not that the princess could blame them. Dealing with fans and giving them what they wanted was hard on stage. But when they encountered you out on the street, they'd hound you for any information they could get on your personal life no matter what. That was how it worked and why the government allowed performers to have false identities, though they had to pay a higher fee for them than other occupations that we're allowed to use them.

With that in mind the band that was going to back her up was already on stage and making sure their interments were ready for the show. It was busy just like it always was before a show. She was thankful that they were all members of her staff from home and knew about her situation. It made it easier for everyone involved. She looked around the stage to see what was going on. Almost everyone was ready and in position soon enough she saw that it was five minutes till show time. Voices had already started filling the room beyond the curtain. It was rather peaceful at that time. A welcome change compared to what the last few clubs she performed at were like.

"I can't believe it; I knew that the rulers of Salode were a bunch of liars. But to lie about their own son's deaths. King Allen really was right to reject that alliance proposal they made. Not that I doubted him. I hope he sticks to his policy that he set for dealing with them. Or else the kingdom's going to get recked." One of her band members, the pianist, she believed scoffed. Josephina paused mid warm up she knew that Ritchie and Brandon were the new royal guild leaders, and she hadn't told the band members has per her part of the deal with King Steve. She needed to minimize the number of people who knew the true status of the princes of Salode and their younger sister. The only reason she chose these people was because she knew that they could keep a secret or two.

"I mean I'm not surprised their king lied about his brother and his wife and kid being dead so what's not to say that he'd lie about his son's just to get them to come home? Or more likely to cover up that they didn't want to obey his orders that they had every right to object to. Especially in the arranged marriage with Princess Francesca when Prince Brandon didn't even like her has a friend. Shame that Princesses Josephina and Genevieve and especially Prince Francesco are related to her. Word through the grape vine is that their parents are considering stripping Princess Francesca of all royal authority. Not that I blame them with that whole fiasco going on with Princess Genevieve's love life thanks to Princess Francesca trying to arrange a marriage with Prince Kevin for Princess Genevieve. Thank goodness her parents are trying to put a stop to it." The Drummer sighed looking out past the curtains.

At that first sentence she was already making her way to the curtains and turned to the drummer with a frown. "Excuse me, what was that about Grand Duke Drake and Grand Duchess Marcelina?" She asked with a frown.

"Take a look at the table in the back of the dinning section Princess, and you'll see what we mean." The pianist said with a frown. Josephina nodded and looked and gasped. There at the back table was Grand Duke Drake and Grand Duchess Marcelina Diabolus. Seeing them was a surprise on its own but who was sitting with them was an even bigger one. There in all her glory sat Former Queen Anglia Prenderghast of Kacuria.

"You see what we mean now Princess? They've fucking lied again. Queen Angela of Salode lied and said that her mother was dead, but people claimed that they saw her forcing her mother through a portal. Trust the Grand Royal Council to get close to the truth. They think that they're so clever about hiding their wrongdoings to their people and family, but the council knows better than to trust them by now. Shame they can't get into Salode even for a short time to investigate." The Drummer sighed.

Josephina just turned away from the curtain. "Save those thoughts for later. We have a show to do, and we don't need you guys causing a ruckus right before the show. By the way you better not tell anyone who isn't here about Grand Duke Drake and Grand Duchess Marcelina Diabolus and her mother being here in Atlantide. Father's orders were to keep the status of the twins and their sister a secret and we don't need Francesca messing up the negotiation with her "Brandon is meant to love me" nonsense you hear me?" The band gave her a simple "Yes milady" before getting back to preparing for the show.

Meanwhile, Richie and Brandon had changed out of their royal guild uniform and into the party suits that they had chosen. They were basically the same has their interview suits that they wore earlier on. The family had chosen to have a table reserved for themselves. Something not uncommon amongst new guild leaders. Ritchie and Brandon quickly went to sit down with their family. "Hello big brothers!" Smiled Amira. Like the other patrons of the ball she was dressed for the occasion. Ritchie and Brandon, with the help of Natalie, had chosen this dress for her.

The colors were a simple blue and purple. The dress itself wasn't as formal as you would expect from a child. The skirt of the dress went down to her keens with a purple sash around her waist that connected a matching purple sheer fabric to the dress with blue fabric underneath. With the top it was divided into three sections, the two side ones being blue with the center one being purple. The look was completed with white socks and simple marry Jaen shoes.

"Hi sister, are you ready to have a fun time at the party?" Ritchie asked his little sister energetically. Amira nodded happily as Ritchie ruffled her hair with a bright smile of his own while Brandon shook his head with a fond smile. in the short time that they had known her the three Diabolus siblings had become close has siblings can be despite the age gap between them. This was mainly because they had spent time getting to know the younger girl and helped take care of her when her their aunt and uncle were busy with something, and Natalie helped them get to know her by telling them what she knew the younger one liked.

Thankfully for the family, since all the families of the Royal guild members were required to attend. They had arranged a decently sized play area for the children to play in. This was because there were a few children in attendance at the party. This included Princess Leah, the royal children of Carly and Steve, and the Grimshade children Zander McCarthy, son of Bren, Grimshade's secretary and soon to be second in command when Devin's transfer went through and Sabrina, Michael's daughter, and Ritchie's potential niece in law if his and Devin's relationship turned into a marriage. Which was one of the reasons that Ritchie wanted to make sure that Amira attended this party. It was an opportunity to introduce her to his boyfriend and potential family members in the future.

In Salodian culture when a couple was formed the immediate family members were to meet when it was close to time for the couple to get engaged. This was so that the families could see that the couple had a healthy relationship and to form healthy connections between the families and to give time to resolve any problems between them. This way the couple once they started their own family could have a healthy connection to their own birth families.

This was something common across the Horedorarian continent of Emptheria. This was mainly because of the fact that most of the kingdoms that were located on Emptheria were once part of the Emptherian empire. Which had this same tradition.

Ritchie smiled as he watched Amira ask questions about the people around them. If there was one thing that he and his brother had learned quickly about their younger sister, it was that she was curious and observant for her age. Not that Ritchie blamed her for that. When they were living under their birth parents it was important to know how they were feeling. One false move and you were severely punished no matter what the "offence" was. From not performing perfectly in their lessons or public appearances. Or even just goofing off slightly even when off duty.

However, nowadays those skills along with those learned under their uncle's resistance group were now used to survive when on missions and lead the guild when they became guild leaders. And the harshest punishment that Ritchie used "Dodge the Lighting Bolt" and when not for that it was used has a training regimen.

Ritchie shook off the thoughts of his past. Now wasn't the time to think about that. Right now was supposed to be a time of friendship, happiness and building bonds with old friends. He smiled as soon as he saw Devin walking over to him.

"Hey thunderbolt." Devin smiled at his lover. Instead of his regular outfit he wore a dark red suit with gold accents. His hair was styled like it normally was and Micheal was right by his side. He wore a jet-black suit with purple and white accents. Lilac was wearing a dark purple off shoulder dress with black trim with the sleeves being slightly baggy. Sabrina on the other hand, wore a black dress with purple accents and short sleeves. They had their hair done up in a braid and tied with a purple ribbon at the end. Sabrina went up to Amira, but she hid nervously behind Ritchie.

So far aside from the people at the hospital, the only good experiences she had in this world was with Divinus Magia. From spending time with Miss. Rosea and Mr. David in the guild garden helping them tend to it, to spending time with Mr. Mario watching him train, to hearing Mr. Zaro tell stories of his past and even spending time with Granny P and the rest of her family, she loved all of them. But despite that she was still afraid of meeting new people that she didn't know. The only time she felt safe around strangers was when her family was with her.

"Hey Red Could, how are you doing?" Her older brother smiled at the man who she assumed Ritchie knew. Looking at his arm she saw something, a guild mark, it was a different one than the one that her older brothers and the rest of her guild family had. But she still knew that mark, Ritchie and Brandon had taught her about the royal guilds and told her that if she ever got lost while in the city and couldn't find one of them to look for someone with one of those three guild marks and ask them for help. So she allowed herself to come out from behind her brother slightly.

"So I'm guessing the little girl behind you is your little sister Amira?" Devin asked with a smile, Ritchie nodded as Michael came up beside his adopted brother. This caused Amira to hide behind her brother again because she couldn't see his guild mark.

Ritchie noticed this and gave her a smile. "It's okay Amira, Michael and Devin are friends of mine. They won't hurt you. Their brothers, like me and Brandon are." He said has he picked her up and held her. Knowing her brother wouldn't lie to her about a friend she turned to look back at the two brothers. Ritche looked at them for a moment before saying. "Amira is a bit shy, her first few months here in Atlantide we're ruff to say the least. That's why I asked if you could introduce her to Sabrina, Michael. My aunt and uncle or mother and father as me and brother call them managed to get Amira into Everston Pre Education Academy or has many people call it EPEA. You've gotten the class roster for this year at the academy, right?"

"Yes, I did, Sabrina and Zander both got Mrs. Cole again this year like the years before. Come to think of it, I saw that Amira was on the list. There was also another girl named Amire Daibolus on the list as well. Amira was put into class PreE-1-A, right?"

"Yeah, that's the class. I don't know who the other Diabolus is though. I mean it could be our counterpart's little sister. From what I heard though they've been missing for a few months now. Me and my brother have been looking into the case but haven't been able to find much. The Files went missing a few days after they went missing." Ritchie mentioned with a frown.

"So I've heard, it's even stranger that they've already closed the investigation. Especially since from what I know your counterpart's family was a highly powerful noble family that had close ties to the royal family. I spoke with the king, and he's been trying to get the investigation reopened but the royal council refuses. It appears that he will be having the guilds work together on that if the case against the royal council wins the appeal case in the royal court. Going back to the classes, the reason I wanted Sabrina to be here today was because, well. Amira has been having some trouble with the idea of going to a school everyday due to the… sheltered upbringing our birth parents gave her. So we're hoping that maybe having a friend with her might make things a bit easy on her."

"I think that's a great idea, I know that when Sabrina was starting at EPEA last year she was rather nervous but having Zander there with her helped a lot. I think that Sabrina will be more than willing to try and bring her out of her shell." Michael smiled at his friend and then turned to his daughter. "Sabrina, why don't you introduce yourself to Amira and invite her to play with you and Zander?"

"Okay papa!" Smiled the young four-year-old girl. The young girl approached Amira with a soft smile holding her favorite stuffed animal, a teddy bear named Shadow. Michael had given it to her as a birthday gift the year before. Ever since she got it, she kept it with her no matter where she went. Be it to school or a restaurant, wherever Sabrina went her bear went with her. Smiling at her potential new friend she slowly extended a hand to her. "Hi there, I'm Sabrina, and this is my friend Shadow, what's your name?" she asked with a gentle tone.

"A-Amira," she said quietly holding on tighter to her own stuffed animal named Bun Bun with her right hand and Ritchie with her left. Ritche gave her a gentle pat on the head and looked back at the little girl on her head.

"That's a nice name! What about your bunny do you have a name for it?" Sabrina asked with a happy tone. The children talked and after a bit he went over to the play area for the children. Ritchie watched Sabrina introduce Amira to Zander. He was familiar with the second in command of Grimshade to be's child.

Being the boyfriend of Grimshade's current second in command he had been over to the Grimshade guild hall a number of times to visit him. During these times was when Ritchie met the children of the leaders of Grimshade. He didn't interact with them much, but he could tell that they were good children. That was why he immediately thought about introducing the children to Amira once the problem of how to make Amira's transition into school life as easy as possible.

Ritchie was torn from his thoughts when the stage manager came on stage. "Hello everyone, the music is about to start. Tonight our first performer will be the wonderful Alicia Raine! The stage curtain opened, and the first song was sung. The party from then on was filled with joy and happiness.
