The next day, Doctor Doctor prepared herself for when Sainte Maxence would arrive to pick her up and take her to Los Angeles, but not before leaving behind a note for Professor Professor to read explaining her absence. Not that it really mattered anyway; she was certain that Professor Professor would figure out she was gone in almost an instant. She felt a little guilty about not telling him where she was going. After all, they'd married for a reason. Still, she couldn't just be staying at home pregnant, right?

She didn't have time to wonder beyond that, however, as soon she heard Sainte Maxence call out to her from outside. Without so much as a word, she gathered whatever she deemed necessary for the trip to Los Angeles and headed out the front door to face that. Weirdly enough, Sainte Maxence seemed to have arrived on a spiderbike that was being driven by Expendable Black Eight.

"So..." Doctor Doctor began to speak. "That's quite the ride you got there."

"Thank you," Sainte Maxence simply replied. "I figured this was the best way to get to Los Angeles quickly without having to go through an airport."

"I see." Doctor Doctor was suspicious of this but she didn't make it known to her companion. "Will you tell me what we're doing once we get there?"

"Of course. I must warn you, though. It is a great threat to security, and it's for reasons of security that my name is Changed Daily. Today, you may call me..." Her cellphone beeped. "Ah, Amalafrida."

"Nice, like the mother of King Theodahad?"

"Exactly. Alright, let's head off to Los Angeles, shall we?"

Within a few hours, Doctor Doctor and Amalafrida had arrived in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Venice. Doctor Doctor took a quick look around of her surroundings. In front of her was Venice Beach, which currently had hundreds of people roaming about and checking out the basketball courts and the boardwalk and the Venice Breakwater surf spot. To the right of her, a wall of graffiti also faced the beach.

"Now that we're here, tell me what we're doing," Doctor Doctor was quick to command.

Amalafrida nodded. "Alright, I guess I've kept you waiting long enough. We're here to find the djinn that calls herself Diamonica. You happen to know anything about her?"

Doctor Doctor slightly recoiled in response. That was the name of the djinn she'd stolen from her owner all those years ago. Why was Amalafrida looking for her?

"I take it to be a yes?" Amalafrida asked again.

"Da," Doctor Doctor responded. "I actually stole her from the basketball player Adonis Polecat, who was her owner at the time. She likes to rap everything she says, even while granting wishes, and she lives inside a bottle of Louis XIII cognac."

"So she's Kazaam but a girl?"

"Correct. So then why do you need her?"

"I'll tell you when we find her. Now come on. Time is of the essence."

Doctor Doctor and Amalafrida proceeded to head off towards whatever was nearest by. They made their way through the skate park and the Venice Pier before eventually showing up to their destination: the Venice Beach Recreation Center.

"Do you think this is where Diamonica is?" Doctor Doctor asked. "There's no way she ended up here, right?"

"We can't be certain of that unless we look, right?" Amalafrida replied with another question.

Doctor Doctor wasn't quite sure how to argue with that logic, so she bit her tongue. Amalafrida led her inside the building and through a hallway that led into a tiny office, which Doctor Doctor could only presume was for the manager or whoever was running this rec center. The contents of the office were sparse, consisting of just a wooden desk, a swivel chair, two regular chairs and a laptop.

"Are you sure she's in this building?" Doctor Doctor asked again. "I don't really see anything out of the ordinary."

"Not quite, but I have a feeling she might be around somewhere. Just sit in that swivel chair for a bit while I take care of a few things." With that, Amalafrida pulled out four sets of handcuffs from hammerspace and used them to restrain Doctor Doctor to the swivel chair. "Okay, I'll be right back."

Doctor Doctor felt herself growing alarmed. "Wait a minute, why did you restrain me?!"

"You know perfectly well why I did that."

"What?! No, I don't! Tell me right now!"

But her pleas fell on deaf ears, and Amalafrida just walked out of the room to look for Diamonica. Soon, Doctor Doctor was left just sitting there, restrained to the swivel chair she was sitting in. She couldn't believe her companion would do something like this after everything they went through! She had to figure out a way to break free, but how?

"Damn it," Doctor Doctor muttered to herself. "What the hell do I do? Is there anything here I can use to unlock the handcuffs?"

Almost immediately, she noticed one of the built-in drawers of the desk was halfway open and she reached in and retrieved an iPhone. Perfect. Now she had to see if she could unlock the thing. Instantly, she was able to unlock the phone and make her way to the Phone app.

"Now to call Professor Professor..." Doctor Doctor said.

With limited movements, she dialed the number to the flat she shared with Professor Professor and waited for him to pick up.

In just a few seconds, Professor Professor picked up. "Hello?"

"You have to help me," Doctor Doctor begged of him. "Amalafrida just handcuffed me and left me inside someone's office. I don't know what she's up to, but I think it has to do with Diamonica."

"Diamonica... why does that name sound familiar?"

"That's the djinn I stole from Adonis. Apparently, Diamonica's container is somewhere inside the Venice Beach Recreation Center."

"The Venice Beach Recreation Center? Where is that exactly?"

"In Los Angeles. It's where I've been captured. Hurry!"

"Alright, will do."

With that, Professor Professor quickly hung up. Doctor Doctor then proceeded to silently cry to herself, believing she'd failed not just herself, but her husband and her unborn daughter. This couldn't be how her life was going to end, was it? Alone in a city halfway across the world, handcuffed four ways to a swivel chair in someone's office? This couldn't be. Help would be coming soon, right? She had to hope it would come. She waited for a little bit before she eventually heard Ray's voice barking orders to split up and find Amalafrida.

"Hey!" Doctor Doctor called out to Ray. "I'm in here! Help me!"

Instantly, Ray broke down the door and spotted Doctor Doctor.

The first thing to come out of Ray's mouth was, "Who did this to you?"

"It was Amalafrida," Doctor Doctor instantly replied. "She had me handcuffed to this chair for reasons I still don't understand."

"I see... just stay there while I blast the handcuffs with my laser gun to free you. Here goes nothing." He shot at the handcuffs until they broke apart, freeing Doctor Doctor. "Alright, that should do it. You're welcome."

After they found Amalafrida and snatched Diamonica's contained away before she could unleash the djinn, Ray and the other U.Z.Z. agents who accompanied him arrested the French chief of U.Z.Z. and then took Doctor Doctor back to her flat, where Professor Professor was waiting for her.

"Oh, I'm so glad you two are safe," Professor Professor told Doctor Doctor. "I don't know what I would've done if Amalafrida had killed you."

"I'm glad I'm safe, too, Professor," Doctor Doctor replied. "Thank you for sending help."

With that, the two hugged, grateful to still have each other in their lives.
