A/N: I'm back! With a new chapter! A lot longer than the previous. Apologies for the back to back cliffhangers, but it's the best way to approach how these chapters are structured. Also... Rick [Riordan] does worse. The reasoning for the long delay was my laptop broke. I lose a lot of edited content and more than a chapters worth of writing to a laptop that didn't allow me to turn it on. I had to rewrite a lot from memory (not this chapter though). I don't necessarily have an update schedule going into the future, however this story won't end any time soon. I appreciate all of you that are sticking it out with me.
As always, I hope you let me know what you think of the chapter and I'm looking forward to getting the next one out to you as soon as possible.

23. The Landing (Dramatic but Honestly Not My Worst)

Katara desperately pulled at the water. It was getting harder and harder to stave of panicked breaths. The whole crew was getting anxious, and she knew that the other ships would be even worse. They didn't have Hakoda like hers did.

She saw Aang out of the window doing something similar to her, and Appa flailing about in the water, both unable to move.

What the waterbender did feel, was the water churning past them. Out of pure curiosity more than anything else, she looked behind the Avatar. Back where they had come from, there was no more fire lighting up the Gates of Azulon. At least, none that they could see. And from Katara's perspective, it looked like the water had risen significantly.

The Water Tribe girl paused in her attempts to waterbend and stared.

"Um, dad?" She began, only to feel the whole sub rock.

It was their first movement since they'd stopped so the whole crew stumbled. She saw the elevated level of water from behind them pass over and then the ship shot forward. Out of the window, all the others had moved as well.

"Katara, can you waterbend?!" Her dad yelled over the noise of crashing armour and the groaning ships, trying to keep his balance.

"No!" She replied, holding herself against the wall and trying to move her arms. "It's like something grabbed us!"

"It's-!"

Toph had to stop as the Duke offered her his helmet to throw up in. She wiped her mouth.

"Percy. It must be Percy." She finished.

Katara couldn't help but agree.

But why is he going against the invasion plan? Or at least changing it.

She looked up ahead of them. The large wave cast a shadow below and behind it as they sped towards the Fire Nation capital.

"Well, whatever it is, we have to be ready." Hakoda yelled out. "Everyone to their positions. Earthbenders in your tanks and soldiers be ready! It seems this is going to be an even rougher ride in than we were expecting!"

Katara looked to the side of her as all their forces gathered. Her father and brother stood on either side of her. She looked at Sokka, who was gripping his sword way too tightly, his knuckles completely white.

Her placed her hand on his hand and he gave her an appreciative nod. The waterbender heard him let out a shaky breath as she turned back to the front of the ship, where they expected to land. The ship strained in the tumbling water as they looked to be coming closer to the land.

Percy looked behind him at the Gates of Azulon, moving further and further away. The four boats he'd left behind bobbed behind the now-extinguished chains. Cracks and strains were left in the statue from his wave powering over the top of it. Sweat beaded on his forehead as he fought to keep both the subs and his ship upright and moving in the right direction.

The demigod looked over the crest of the wave to see Harbour City. There was a stone wall that was able to control entry to the docks. The young man could see over the towers to the battlements, piers and slipway. He was thankful that most people were smart enough to have evacuated themselves in the minutes it had taken to build up the wave.

There was no one in sight.

The bells still rang out further up the path to the capital city as he saw their bigger tanks and machines retreating. There was very little water in front of him as he'd pulled most of it out.

When they got even closer to the stone wall, Percy pulled the subs up to the back of the wave. Sokka's machines almost reached the surface as the wave began its process of breaking. Some part of him felt a certain majesty in his ship curling over the frothing white tip of his wave. He hadn't been surfing too much but no matter what, being in the ocean always felt like home.

To his left, Siosi stood firm with her legs iced to the deck. Her armour gleamed in the sunlight, yet to be swallowed by the eclipse. The son of Poseidon controlled the tug in his gut further as the wave began to engulf the fortifications. Their subs cleared the barrier as the water exploded through the Fire Nation banners.

The tsunami rolled on through the open and almost empty docks with piers around both sides. Percy looked around as each of them was devoured by his creation. Hephaestus' words to him on Ogygia echoed throughout his mind but he did his best to ignore them.

His wave kept on going though, parts of it crashing into the sides of the cliff faces lining the slipway. The sounds of crumbling rocks drowned out by the deafening roar of the tsunami. The main part pushed through and started rolling over the ground. It took almost all his energy to keep everything from tumbling over as they punched a hole in the city port.

The demigod felt the hulls of the ships begin to scrape across the ground as they came to the final two walls before Harbour City. Using some of the last bits of his strength, he pushed forward with his fist and a few tendrils of high-pressure water shot ahead. They demolished a path for all their ships to travel through.

Like creeping vines encapsulating a tree, the remains of the water funnelled through the hole and splayed outwards into the city. The subs screeched to a stop with water still flowing past as the huge watchtower behind them collapsed in on itself. The tsunami pushed just that little bit further and began either destroying or flooding most of the houses in the area.

Percy's boat sat in front of the five submarines with the Fire Nation army still collecting themselves much further down their path. He heard the screech of the metal opening from the front of machines behind him, with their very own tanks and soldiers piling out.

It seemed a lot of them had a rough ride in as they came out stumbling. The demigod found it slightly amusing until the drain on his energy caught up with him. He melted the ice around Siosi's claws and almost fell over. Luckily, his loyal animal friend bent over and moved to help keep him upright.

"Just… get me in the water." He panted.

Siosi let him climb onto her new armour and saddle and hopped off the boat. Percy slipped off and landed in the shin deep salt water. Almost instantly, he felt rejuvenated. Still slightly tired, but that was fading.

There were still cracks and crashing sounds from various buildings that were in the process of coming down. Tanks just sat in front of the subs, unaware of what to do. The first people to come towards him and the boat were Hakoda, Sokka, Katara and Aang.

Percy hid a smirk at Toph standing off to the side looking very queasy. There was a boy, he thought maybe called Duke or something, to the side of his favourite earthbender who was washing their helmet in the water. He guessed most likely due to Toph's stomach.

"What was that?" Katara asked him.

She was clearly shaken by his tidal wave and control over the water around them, so he didn't blame her for her slightly angry tone.

A huge boom sounded from behind them. If Percy was to guess, it most likely was the cliffs surrounding the island collapsing into the sea.

"Katara." Hakoda interrupted her with a hand on her shoulder. "Look at where we are."

Everyone turned around to see the last vestiges of the tower fall in on itself, leaving a gaping hole all the way back down the slipway to the sea.

"Thank you, Percy." The chief said, appreciatively.

Sokka nodded to him, but Katara just looked at him with eyes wide and mouth agape. Aang looked to be processing it all in his own way too.

'That one doesn't know how to say thank you, does she?' Siosi asked, rather sarcastically.

"Well, do you?" Percy rebutted shakily, still leaning heavily against the animal.

Even as the sea water energised him, he still wasn't going to put all his weight on his own legs just yet. His companion didn't have a reply to his question, so he took the win and ran with it.

To be fair to Katara, he hadn't warned them at all. Percy had no idea what it felt like to not be able to move water, especially when trapped in a submarine where that was your only escape.

Aang walked up next to him, looking towards the volcano.

"I've got to get to the Fire Lord."

He tapped his glider on the ground and the wings came out the sides. Right as he looked about to jump up into the air, Percy reached out and grabbed the staff.

"Aang…" He shook his head, voice still unable to get much power behind it.

"Why? Percy, I need to get up there for the eclipse."

"They know we're coming." He whispered out.

"How do you know that?" Katara asked, seemingly coming out of her stupor.

The demigod's hand gestured to their surroundings.

"All the buildings. They're all empty."

"That could just be because of your huge wave." She replied.

That made sense too, but Percy didn't want to tell them how he'd actually figured out that the Fire Nation knew they were coming. He didn't think they would take his time with Azula too well.

"The Gates of Azulon came up pretty quickly for some mist." He steadied himself as he spoke, putting more weight onto his feet and into his words. "And the response time from those soldiers, that was too quick."

"We are in war time." Hakoda said.

Percy appreciated how they were going about it, but he just wanted them to agree with him. He didn't want to explain completely.

Aang was looking like he was about to fly off. Finally, the demigod looked at Sokka. It took a second, but it seemed the boy had some understanding flash across his eyes.

"They know we're coming." The Water Tribe kid said.

He smiled at him appreciatively as Sokka backed him up.

"I've still got to try." Aang said. "I'll come right back if he's not there."

The Avatar looked at him and Percy knew there was no changing his mind.

"Alright, but assume they know you're coming, so be cautious. We'll work on a plan to find them if you're back soon."

With a flick of his staff and a nod, the kid soared into the air and flew off to the capital. After watching him airbend away, the group looked at each other to start setting up the battle plans. With the beachhead that the demigod had created, they had a lot more time than expected before the eclipse.

One problem, the most glaringly obvious to Percy, was the boat and subs beached on the stone path. Hakoda quickly ordered the tanks to form an arrow shape in front of them to prepare for their assault up the dormant volcano.

"I can bring the ships back down to the water's edge in case we need them for an escape. I'll need the help of Katara and the swampbenders though." Percy supplied.

Hakoda agreed as Toph joined in the conversation.

"The Fire Nation has already fallen back this far, and they're scattered. Let's make the most of it to give Aang the most help possible if he needs it." Hakoda said.

They all broke off to do their respective things. Sokka leapt onto Appa to move beside his father at the front of their wedge formation as the tanks began to rumble forward. All the Water Tribe and miscellaneous Earth Kingdom soldiers walked in the middle of them, pushing through the water, as the beginnings of some fire began to rain on them from the mountain. It was too far away to be accurate as most of it either landed waywardly or hit the armoured shells of their tanks.

Percy leapt up onto Siosi and then offered a hand to Katara. She took it and was pulled up to sit behind him. It was obvious that she wanted to ask him a whole barrage of questions but they both set about the work of pulling water under the ships to move them back. The swamp benders took the submarines and the demigod and waterbender lifted the boat.

They were about halfway down to the sea, with Siosi wading through the progressively deeper remnants of the tsunami, when the waterbender couldn't hold in one of her questions any longer.

"How did you really know that they know we're coming?"

Percy was silent for a while, gathering his thoughts, as they pushed the boat further.

"I've spent enough time with Azula, and the people around her, to know that any information that people near her have, she knows. She'll always figure it out."

"And Azula was in Ba Sing Se." Katara finished.

"Yeah." Percy agreed, solemnly. "In my chat with a Dai Li agent, it was clear that anything the Dai Li knew, Azula knew as well. And they captured all the Earth Kingdom generals too."

"I guess. We still can't be sure though. We have to have hope that they're still here. That he's still here."

The demigod nodded.

"It would be weird for them to be completely gone, but it just might take longer to find them." He agreed.

Siosi trotted right to the end of the slipway as the boat started to float on the still churning water. Ahead of them lay the remains of the stone wall out at the entrance to the bay. Huge chunks of red and grey structures floated among the shaken and cracked piers. The two watch towers on either side were nowhere to be seen, although the lighthouse appeared to have remained mostly intact.

Percy could tell Katara had many more things to ask, but the scale of destruction surrounding them had temporarily distracted her.

They moved to the side as the swamp benders placed the subs just at the edge of the deeper waters, so they were still beached.

"Are you guys alright to stay here and defend the ships? They're our only way out." Percy asked Tho, Due and Huu.

"Of course, brother. Anything for our kin!" Due replied.

Tho and Huu rolled their eyes while Percy still didn't know how to respond to it. So he just smiled back, awkwardly.

"Cool."

Percy gave him a thumbs up and held it up for way too long. Siosi finally took pity on him by starting to trot away.

"He claimed you as kin too, huh?" Katara asked, with a slight smirk.

"He did. He did indeed do that." Percy answered. "He wouldn't be the weirdest brother or relative I would've had… but it's still somehow weird."

"You have a lot of relatives?" The waterbender questioned, surprised.

"You don't even want to know."

At that, his ostrich horse started to move faster until they came back to the broken wall. As they moved through it, Percy got his first, proper, undistracted look at the devastation he caused.

He looked to either side as Afosiosi stood atop the rubble of the large central tower and saw the remains of Harbour City ringing the slipway. The houses closest to the bay seemed to be completely gone, although he could see those that dotted the greenery away from the water seemed to be only flooded.

After it had managed to get itself over the cliffs, all the water from his wave was either returning to the sea, seeping into the grasslands or just sitting there for people to have to slosh through.

"How?" Katara asked, in equal parts awe and fear.

Percy knew she didn't mean to have her words affect him in the way that they did, he just couldn't help but wince.

You're the son of the Earthshaker lad. You don't know your own strength.

"I'm sorry." She said from behind him.

"No, it's just, I don't like doing things like this. I have some bad experiences with it."

The waterbender placed a comforting hand on his shoulder and he nodded back to her in a silent thanks. Based on his conversation with Toph, he figured that she'd had a recent experience that might make her relate. Percy then lightly kicked the sides of Siosi's armour, and she started forward towards their battle lines.

Up the main promenade, he saw the tanks had stopped moving just below the winding path up the side of the volcano. They'd all formed a semicircle around the troops who were firing their own earthbending and catapult-like blasts back to return the fire. He saw Sokka and Hakoda with the leader of the Earth Kingdom troops standing around a map.

They had it pressed against the wall of one of the tanks as they couldn't place it on the ground with it still being slightly covered in water. The invasion had made it far enough that the vehicles weren't having to displace too much water, but his wave had just about made it to the base of the mountain.

Percy was reminded slightly of riding around Manhattan on the random red Vespa during their battle, just being wherever he was needed. He'd gotten much better at evading the homesickness, but with all the reminders of his previous life, his stomach churned.

Off to the side, he saw Toph restocking one of the tanks with some condensed earth. After he leapt onto the ground from his ostrich horse, she turned and walked over to the growing group. His little earthbender stood next to him, giving him a slight punch as Katara walked to his other side.

Siosi stood behind him with Appa just off to the side. Both animals looking like they were in their element with the armour. Blasts were heard everywhere around them, but Percy had long since been able to tune such noises out in these moments.

"I doubt that the Fire Lord has left the island, even if he is out of his palace." Sokka said. "Probably in some bunker somewhere."

"I agree, it'll probably be close to the heart of the volcano too." Percy interjected, getting a few nods from those surrounding him. "Gives them more ways to protect themselves."

His suggestion was met with agreeing murmurs from everyone.

"A secret bunker, underground? Well, I'm just the girl to find that." Toph said.

Percy gave her a light punch back, which she smiled to.

"Alright." Sokka collected himself. "I got this timing device from the Mechanist. We have a little more than twenty minutes until the full eclipse. That long to find the Fire Lord."

"Wait." Katara started. "If they know we're coming, then this will all just be a trap, won't it? We could use this time to get out safety."

Percy turned to her, with a grim expression.

"I don't know what Aang will say, but I do know this. Sometimes, going into a trap is exactly what you need to do. We've got to be smart about it, but we're all the way here already. I'm sure everyone fighting would appreciate you suggesting that, but if we want the war to be over, it'll most likely be today."

The waterbender nodded in understanding. Then, just as quickly, she looked up to the sky. Percy heard it too, the whooshing through the air from over the Fire Nation catapults.

"Aang?" Katara said, slightly downtrodden.

It seemed Percy had been right. Determination set in the young man's face as looked over the people around him.

"Okay, well it seems the Fire Lord isn't home." The demigod started.

Everyone turned to look at him quickly except for Katara who kept looking towards the airbender.

"Sokka, you take Aang, Toph and Katara on Appa to look for the Fire Lord. I'll stay here to help punch the troops through the enemy lines, then I'll join you as soon as I can." He finished, right as the Avatar was getting closer.

Without a word, they all nodded and moved to do as he said. The kids ran towards Appa and looked to head for the flying nomad while Hakoda rolled up the map. Percy watched as the sky bison launched into the air and scooped up Aang, before he leapt onto his own ride.

"You ready to give 'em hell?" He asked Siosi.

'Pfft, like you even need to ask.' She shot back at him.

He smiled, before pulling out his pen. All the attention was on other things, so he unsheathed Riptide with no one to question where he got it from.

"Hakoda! Are you ready?" He shouted out to the chief.

"Yes. Tanks! Prepare to charge!" Hakoda shouted. "Troops in line behind!"

The Water Tribe man turned to him and gave a nod. Percy appreciated the trust he had in him that he didn't need to be told what the demigod planned to do. And that was good too, as it probably wouldn't have been considered all too smart.

"Let's ride." He told his steed, slightly kicking his heels into her sides.

She burst forward and around the almost-forward-facing tank. The two cleared their front line and moved into the space between the opposing sets of troops. Percy pulled some water over the top to shield them from catapult blasts, not that it was too big a problem as they were a very small target. It seemed the Fire Nation army didn't expect to be charged by a lone ostrich horse and rider either, as none of their attacks had been diverted towards him yet.

Their mistake.

The demigod pushed himself up to stand on the saddle, balancing himself with his sword arm raised to the sky as he pulled along even more water with him behind. It seemed a pegasus' wing beat had a similar rhythm to the claws of the ostrich horse, so his practiced move came as second nature. He heard a shout of 'charge' behind him, but it was lost to the wind with how fast Siosi was racing. The sounds of the battle dissipated as he focused on the line of Fire Nation tanks in front of him. He pulled his sword behind him, raising some water off the ground when he was tens of feet away from the first few people and machines in his way.

"Now!" He yelled to his ostrich horse.

Siosi came to a screeching halt as he pushed off his mount. Riptide came over and around in a large arc, the water following along behind it. His body landed on its feet with his sword flying forward. It embedded itself in the initial tank with streams of water hitting the rest in his immediate vicinity. They were pushed back slightly, but then turned their guns and catapults on the demigod.

With a closing of Percy's fist, all the tanks exploded to either side. Ice jutting out of every crevice and being thrown end over end, out of the way of the oncoming invasion force.

Siosi came trotting back up to his side.

'A little dramatic.' She said, although he could hear that she was just slightly impressed.

"Not bad for a dumbass, huh?"

'It was still stupid though.'

Percy just shrugged, before getting back on the ostrich horse. He put his hand in his pocket and pulled out his pen once more, unveiling Riptide in front of him only in view of his enemies. His own tanks had just rolled up to behind him once more and he raised his sword to the sky, before pointing it at the top of the volcano.

A huge cheer rang out as the Fire Nation desperately backed its way up the mountain pass.

Sokka had pulled a mildly demoralised Aang aboard Appa before telling him about their decision. He'd asked the Avatar if he wanted to search for a bunker instead of retreating and he'd given an identical reply as before.

"I have to try."

The sky bison landed on the side of the volcano as they heard a soft cheer from a long distance back. He turned to see the little specs of the tanks moving up the beginnings of the winding pathway to the capital.

"It seems Percy did help them get through." He said, to respond to everyone but Toph looking down at the battlefield.

Instead of watching their offensive, Toph jammed her hands into the ground.

"Do you feel anything down there?" Aang asked.

"Yep. There are natural tunnels criss-crossing through the inside of the volcano."

"Anything else? Is there a structure somewhere?" Sokka asked.

"There is something big, dense and made of metal deep in the heart of the volcano. Just like Percy said." She replied.

"Sounds like a secret bunker to me."

Toph created a hole with her earthbending, before making a pillar just above their entrance. Aang turned away to speak to Appa and Momo, but the Water Tribe siblings just looked at Toph.

"It's for Percy." The earthbender said.

"How-" Katara started.

"I can feel when you're looking at me." Toph interrupted with a smirk.

She turned and ran into the hole she created and was followed by all three other kids. Quickly, the earthbender slammed her foot into the ground.

"This way!" She pointed. "That one's a dead end!"

"What would we do without you?" Sokka asked.

"Perish in burning hot magma." She replied, sassily.

The Water Tribe boy looked upon the magma running past them and couldn't help but agree.

They all came upon an open chamber where there were erupting magma spouts.

"The tunnel continues on the other side, and it leads right to the bunker." Toph said.

"Okay, stay away from the holes." Katara said.

Sokka was going to say something about being fast, but his sister started to lead them across carefully. None of them moved over the geyser openings.

They exited that room to come upon an even bigger problem.

"There's no floor. It's just a river of lava." Sokka said.

Aang spun his staff and opened it up.

"Climb aboard and hold on tight."

Katara put her hand on his shoulder.

"Aang, you can't carry us all in one go, let's find another way. A safer way."

Sokka looked over to the wall.

"Hey Toph, could you earthbend us a path over?"

"I think so."

She stuck her tongue out a little and bit down on it as she pulled the earth towards them. It wasn't incredibly wide, but it made do for them to walk single file. They shuffled along the side of the river of lava, slowly working their way over.

After a few minutes, they successfully got to the other side. The kids ran the rest of the way through a cavernous tunnel, until their path was blocked off by a large metal dome. A heavy metal door greeted them, and they all moved aside for Toph to do some metalbending.

"That's some door!" Sokka couldn't help but talk about it.

Their earthbender knocked on the door a bit.

"Not a problem." Toph said.

She slammed her elbows into the centre of the metal before stepping back and using two fingers on each hand to open a gap big enough for them to walk through. She pointed a different way in the bunker as Aang, Katara and Sokka followed.

"I'm so glad we added you to the group." Sokka said as they began running.

They continued down some more paths before Toph diverted to a very specific one. They heard someone whistling and prepared to attack. A Fire Nation official that Sokka found to look very familiar walked around the corner. The man raised his hands before pointing to his left.

"The Fire Lord's chamber is that way, down the hall, to the left, then right then right then left then up the stairs. You can't miss it!"

"Thanks!" Aang replied, cheerfully.

The group of four continued their running. They got all the way to the door and Aang walked right up to them.

"I'm ready. I'm ready to face the Fire Lord."

Sokka pulled out his timing device and looked at it.

"Oh no." He said, too quietly it seemed.

The Water Tribe boy looked up to see the Avatar blast down the last remaining door.

"What?" His sister asked him.

They all turned to looked at the throne.

Azula sat atop it, blue fire blazing in her right hand.

"You're early"

A/N: So, I hope you all enjoyed! We're well into the invasion arc now. I am loving and appreciating all of your reviews of chapters. If anyone can pick up the direct reference in here to a PJO book, that'd be awesome. It's small but contextualizes a lot of what's going through Percy's mind. Even better if you know who said it too!
Anyway, here are the review replies:

Somnuz: I agree. The points are rather nonsensical. I appreciate everyone sees pieces of media differently, but it's frustrating having criticisms that are neither constructive nor understanding of the source material. But, that's besides the point. I'm glad you're enjoying the story!

TheStrongFriend: Always! Writing these replies is one of the most enjoyable aspects of writing this story for me, so I try not to miss a single person!

WildMan98: I can absolutely relate to that busy schedule! Been very hectic. The Percy and Sokka moment from the previous chapter informs the one in this chapter. I like setting up things that come back. I'm glad you're enjoying!

Poseidon Olympus: I do feel bad for the delay in updates though, it is a long time, though uncontrollable in these circumstances. I just hope that the time in between doesn't turn anyone off of my story, but I'm glad you liked it and I hope the same for this one.

Cnrbrr: Here's some more for you! I'm glad you're liking the tsunami side of the story and I hope you liked it's impact.

Artorias78: I'm glad, I hope I can surprise you, even somewhat. I'm glad you're still enjoying it though! I definitely have a distinct plan on where this is going.

Guest(1): I put the wordcount of the story at the top because I enjoy replying to people's reviews and that can inflate the wordcount. I'm trying to be as transparent as possible while still also replying to my readers. Fanfiction makes it hard to be interactive and very few people check their private messages for replies so that makes it even harder.

HellRaiderS/Death Fury: Thank you! I hope you continue to enjoy!

Crazzytony: Yeah! It's one of the things I wanted to make clear. Percy is absolutely not dumb. He's unendingly oblivious romantically and academically, but in specific areas, he's very intuitive and intelligent. He's also one of the most experiences characters in this world at the moment. I'm slowly introducing everyone to Percy's power (as I feel like that's how Percy would himself, it's not in his character to show off). I hope you keep enjoying!

Deepthoughts42: I agree! It definitely screamed security leak. It didn't bother me too much as there is a rather large time jump between the two (Aang's coma/recovery from death really means we miss a lot of that time), so they might've forgotten. Also they're desperate enough that a hope that the Earth Kingdom generals wouldn't have told them. So while the time might be up for debate (time in ATLA is always a bit iffy), I like having someone figure it out here.

Icefire99: Thank you! I'm glad and that's the most important thing for me. Percy has lived at least 5-7 years (in Rick's timeline) of having to hide his powers. He would only use powers that could potentially make sense for him or if he's desperate/angry and pushed to use the full extent of them. I hope you enjoy how everything plays out!

fallyear1: I'm glad you're really enjoying it that much! That means a lot! I'm glad rereading it is as enjoyable, I tried to make as many things more impactful on second reading as possible. And I'll always stand up for my story, there are definitely some critiques that make sense, and my writing is nowhere near perfect, but the criticisms that people seem to bring up are ones that don't make sense.

Tarantulaochos: I am slightly confused with the second half of your comment. As to the first part, you'll have to wait and see. If your question is why is she so split between personalities, well... I'd say emotional abuse and trauma from a life as a child of Ozai. That would most likely be the main reason, but there are a lot of others.

CRUDEN: He really did. Flexing incredibly hard on them.

Elimbargodeus: That's awesome! I'm glad you like my writing style. It means a lot.

Callum Runchman: I hope you enjoy what I did with the tsunami. While the tsunami is extremely powerful, there are two problems with the tsunami destroying their whole homeland. One, the peak of the tsunami began out at the Gates of Azulon, which are well out to sea (at least, enough for the tsunami to lose a bit of the height and power). The second (and main one) is that the Fire Nation capital is almost perfectly designed to deal with such a natural disaster, for an island nation. There is a loooong slipway from the shore to the road up the volcano, and the volcano itself is a perfect natural barrier for any water. As you seen in this chapter, the coast (and Harbour City) was mostly demolished, but the island itself is massive and the capital remained untouched. It would hurt their military installations, although all of their troops are in the Earth Kingdom, potentially by the Northern Water Tribe or away from the Fire Nation as they knew the attack was coming. The rest are the machines that we haven't seen yet in the story but if you've seen ATLA... that are coming.
I hope you did enjoy what I did with the story though!

IAmOutOfIdeas: I get it, but we can agree to disagree. Although I'm glad the cliffhanger had the desired effect haha. I'm glad you're loving the story. This is what I meant by longer chapters coming. It's just that, with how this story is structured, this chapter would be over 7.5k words long and I really don't want to push into that.

: In regards to future sequels, I have my ideas and I think that your suggestions are great! I can't say I've seen General Old Iron, but I've read a bunch of the comics and novels in ATLA so I might have to check that one out. I hope you like what I do with this story going into the future.

Le Connoisseur: So, these two very long reviews, I appreciate them, but I won't reply in immense detail here. I've sent messages with a longer reply if you want to hear my full reasoning, but I stand by my reply to Farhadi. My main thing is you give the evidence as to why Percy acts like he does, but still don't think it fits? Wise beyond his years absolutely fits him in my opinion. He has a lot of wisdom by when you look at him, you never expect it from him. That, to me, is what he would be like after all of his experiences. You also conflate two types of perceptiveness. Romantic and strategic perceptiveness are two very different things. You claiming that the captor/prisoner dynamic was the only attraction in the story is... opinionated at best. I cannot imagine a story I'd like to write less than one where Percy sits around as a captive the whole time. Evolution in a story is important, and I feel I've done that as naturally as possible. I think the creativity I brought into the first one was based on the PJO side of this book, and the creativity in the second is much more ATLA focused. I might make a suggestion that it could be your preference to Percy that makes it feel uninspired, though you are absolutely valid in any emotions you have towards the story. I do hope you continue to read and enjoy though.

DARK WRAITH 2001: I'm glad! I hope that continues and I hope you continue to enjoy! I'm trying to keep the story flowing as much as possible, external hinderances notwithstanding.

Tarantulaochos: I mean, I'm not going to spoil anything... but I don't see why he would. In ATLA he's about the second most important character behind Aang, but in this, it's not necessarily about him. His character development from the scar has already come and gone (much like the scar itself).

Guest(2): Story not dead, story alive. Story alive and well. Story just was held up getting a new laptop. Story here to stay

Ltbutterfly287: I'm glad you like it so much! I get that, but for me, the romance pairing part was never the most important. It's very much how I would see these characters realistically interacting and impacting each others arcs. So the pairing is more to show their importance in the story together and how they are the two main perspectives in the story.
I do hope you don't still think this is a broken sob story fest... because it never really was. It is absolutely integral to the plot and character arcs of the two main characters. I will also say... there is absolutely nothing in any canon that says demigods lay their grief to rest any better than mortals. That would ruin so much of the story for a lot of characters. The most interesting aspects of them are that they react like young kids... because they are. They absolutely do suppress their emotions, especially in times of battle. If the gods are anything to go by, their godly half is absolutely terrible at dealing with grief as none of the gods get over anything and they almost all act like children.

dragonslayer111: Me too... though I won't spoil any plans I have :)

fire bug18: I hope you end up enjoying what I do with it! A mad Percy is indeed a strong Percy.

kat1017: I don't know exactly where this comment is coming from, but on technicalities, she wasn't really an incarnation of the moon spirit, the moon spirit gave a bit of itself to her as a baby to save her, then when she passed, she was able to become it again. Although both of our opinions can be true, there really isn't one way to look at it and its how you interpret it.

I hope you all enjoy! I look forward to giving you all more story in the future!
