Chapter 26
The time has come.
With the recent events that have happened, Kiyoshi traumatized as well, things cannot go on like this. He can no longer be part of this community. As much as Suiryu wanted him to stay and be tormented, the sanity of his brother outweighed his desire for torture.
They didn't let anyone else know about this, just yet. After all, too many people can cause too many distractions. Suiryu however kept Yuuji, Yua and Satoru near by as he dragged Sukuna out of his chamber.
He remained tied down, he didn't resist, in fact, he has been smiling all morning. "It ends, it finally ends!" he said with great cheer. His sights then set on Suiryu. "Get the led out! Kill me already!" he decreed.
Suiryu opted to do the task, Yuuji would be too tempted to tear him apart. But there was something rattling on his mind. Something didn't add up for what happened. Despite the opportunity, the ability as well as timing of it all… how did Sukuna fuck up his one chance of obtaining a vessel? There was no way he would have made that big of a mistake, he's too methodical, careful and ensures everything goes his way.
How is it that Kiyoshi consumed the essence of a dragon and not Sukuna's?
"WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?" Sukuna shouted. "Get this over with!"
Suiryu sighed aloud, trying to think of the best way of ridding him. Perhaps he will go with the method that Ryujin used and purify him. Yes, that would be best, that way whatever he has contained in himself will be destroyed, that part of his soul will not have the chance to regroup and attempt to form once again.
With his mind made up, Suiryu approached him. He revealed his true for to Sukuna who froze at the sight. "You… were hiding this!?" he demanded. Suiryu bore his extra arms and revealed his fleshy wings. But he could care less as to how surprised the king of curses was to see such appendages. His dominant arms came on top of Sukuna's head, the lower ones over his heart. His greedy grin grew as he knew his moment was coming.
"Purify" Suiryu called.
He felt the darkness expel and destroyed, there was so much of it, there came an explosion of black smoke!
No one could see a thing, and yet, Suiryu knew he did his job. "The deed is done," he called as the smoke settled.
"I don't think you tried hard enough."
He froze.
The smoke settled and yet… Sukuna was still there… and alive for that matter. He glared at Suiryu oddly. "Aren't you going to try again?" he demanded.
"Suiryu… you purified him right?" Yuuji asked with concern.
"Of course I did!" he snapped back. "But… why is he still here?"
It was quite the commotion. Those who had gathered to witness Sukuna's death were just as shocked that he still remained. In fact, the others sensed what had happed and came running to see. Suiryu knew his own strength, he knew how to purify since he was a byproduct of such a thing, but how is Sukuna still here?
"This… is concerning to me…" Suiryu muttered.
"Oh it's not that concerning."
Everyone paused, Suiryu turned and saw mom had appeared. "Mom… did I mess up?" he asked.
She smiled and patted his head gently. "No, you did it perfectly." She said gently. But then, her sights sent on Sukuna. He glared at her as she merely smiled to him. "How do you feel?" she asked.
He was silent on the matter, turning away. He refused to answer. "Mom asked you a question!" Yuuji shouted.
"It's okay, after all, I doubt it has hit him yet." She said.
"Mom?" Suiryu asked oddly.
Closer she approached him, gently turning his chin so he looked her in the face. Suiryu came around to see what was going on, they merely locked eyes on each other, nothing more. But mom appeared to be pleased with this turn of events. "Hm," she said gently. "I think he's nearly there…"
"Mom, I'll kill him for sure this time!" Yuuji vowed as he was about ready to do the deed, yet oddly enough, Suiryu was compelled to stop him.
"Hold it bro, something's not adding up here… Isn't that right mom?"
She stood up once more, Sukuna refused to look at anyone at this point. "Why is it that he used the essence of my son, Raynn, instead of his own? Even more remarkable that he found it. He knew which hand held what, and yet, he didn't take Kiyoshi for his vessel…" she said to Yuuji. "You of all people know he would never make a mistake like that. That was his goal, and yet, he didn't."
Yuuji paused. "Binding vow… he must have put a…"
"There isn't one," Suiryu said gently. He began to pick up on his mother's tone, something else was going on here. "Mom…"
She looked back to Sukuna. "Over a thousand years it took… and I only wished Ryujin saw with his own eyes…" leaning down once more, she made Sukuna look into her face. "He fought you so hard for so long… only now… he has his friend back."
