Chapter 12 – Quidditch Match
Hadriana sighed nervously wondering how things were going to go, and with Hermione and Ron around her talking quietly in the great hall eating breakfast. She on the other hand simply didn't have much appetite.
"Take a bit of toast, mate. Go on!" Ron encouraged, giving Hadriana a small smile while she barely looked at him.
"Ron's right, Hadriana. You are going to need your strength today." Hermione said encouragingly.
"Is it your first Quidditch match?" Regulus asked wickedly before everyone else did.
"Yeah, it is." Laughed Hadriana as an answer to the question, and she could feel the excitement from her parents' table.
"Quidditch. We get to watch your first Quidditch match!" James squealed, jumping excitingly up and down.
"I'm not hungry," Hadriana told them with a pout, knowing that she should but she couldn't stomach anything.
"You were so cute!" Sirius softly laughed in her ear, making her smile sweetly at the genuine compliment.
Hermione sighed loudly, as Professor Snape walked past them limping on one leg.
"Good luck today, Potter." The professor said, making everyone in their vicinity look up shocked, some even jumped at the sound of his voice. "Then again, now that you've proven yourself against a troll, a little game of Quidditch should be easy work for you. Even if it is against Slytherin."
Hadriana glanced down at his leg in question as the professor walked away, "That explains the blood." She told her friends, who looked at her confused.
"Only you!" Draco said shaking his head and giving her a look that screamed pure boredom.
"Listen, last night I am guessing Snape let that troll in as a diversion, so he could try and get passed that three-headed dog. However, he could himself bit, and that's why he is limping. At least that is what I think." Hadriana whispered, to Hermione as Ron listened.
"But why would anyone want to go near that dog?" asked Hermione, and Hadriana quickly took a quick look around.
"The day I was at Gringotts, Hagrid took something out of one of the Vaults. Said it was Hogwarts business, very secret."
"So, what you are saying is…" Hermione started, only to be cut off by Hadriana. "That's what the dogs are guarding. That's what Snape wants. As Ron's eyes widened.
"You three are very curious, why not leave it alone and let the teachers handle it?" Ted Tonks groaned in wonder.
"Do you not think we've tried? Be prepared to be disappointed!" Hermione told them all and shared a note with the others in their trio.
Many people shared a look at what had been saying and wondered what they meant by that they had tried to tell a teacher, but that they had been shot down.
It was then that they heard an owl screech above them, and that snapped the three of them out of their conversations. They all looked up, and one snowy owl was holding a large package, and it was flying above them.
Hadriana immediately recognized it and gasped in shock and managed to catch the well-sized package before it crashes and landed in their food.
"Bit early for mail, isn't it?" questioned Hermione.
"B-But I never get any mail!" Hadriana said shocked that she had even gotten anything.
"We are going to send her so many packages, she'll get sick of them." Said James to Lily who looked at him in fondness and in agreement that they should do it, though, it went more and more up for them that their child would never go through the same as their daughter who was sitting up there with her own family.
However, it won't be too late for their own future family. All they all had to do, was make sure that the dark lord was dead, and that they will survive to the upcoming battle. Even then they would make sure that their daughter or son never ends up with Petunia and Vernon.
"Let's open it!" Ron said as the three of them helped with unwrapping Hadriana's package.
Ron gasped in shock.
"It's a broomstick!" Hadriana exclaimed excitingly, while Ron shook his head in shock over what kind of broomstick it was.
"It's not just any broomstick, Hadriana. It's the newest, Nimbus 2000." Ron told her, excitingly.
"I want it! I want it! I want it!" James and young Sirius chanted while clapping their hands like idiots. While other Quidditch enthusiasts only looked at the screen in amazement.
"But who-," Hadriana wondered and watched as Hedwig flew away and perched herself next to Professor McGonagall, who stroked Hedwig's feathers, giving Hadriana a small smile.
Hadriana gave her professor a very large smile back, while shaking her head at Oliver who was sitting a few places away from her, opened and closed his mouth gaping like a fish.
Professor McGonagall stared at her future self in shock, but at the same time, she wonders if she couldn't have done more for her student.
"I knew you loved me, Minnie!" Yelled James, while McGonagall was still into much of a shock to even respond.
Hadriana smiled at the last few words because she had really liked the guy and Sirius knew that it still hurt. *Love, it's okay. We hadn't met, and no matter what our friends told knows we didn't get together before you were fifteen. * Sirius said in their minds. *I know Siri, but that still doesn't change the fact that we knew that we had to keep our talks a secret from everyone until I became seventeen. * Revealed Hadriana, *and my feelings for you and him were a jumbled mess after meeting you in my third year. *
Sirius sighed and kissed her head because what could he say to that without pouring salt into the wound it didn't matter because they still had a very close friendship with Oliver Wood and his wife.
Now they were walking down a small walkway, Hadriana were seen side by side with Oliver, and the rest of the Gryffindor team was walking behind them. Hadriana wore her bright red Quidditch uniform and her new broom in hand.
"Scared Hadriana?" asked Oliver and glanced over at the first year who was fiddling with the hem of her uniform.
"A little," Hadriana admitted to him.
Oliver gave her an encouraging look and a smirk. "It's alright. I felt the same way before my first game."
"You, nervous?" Hadriana smirked, loving that she could manage to make people falter even if didn't make friends easily with others because of Hermione and Ron hanging around her all the time. "What happened?" she asked, back to her little bit frightened self.
"I-I don't really remember. Took a bludger to the head, two minutes in, woke up in the hospital wing, a week later." Oliver told her, a horrified expression making its way onto her face.
"Such amazing words of encouragement!" Snape said sarcastically.
Sirius couldn't help to let out a little snicker at hearing the words, though, he paid for the words as Hadriana smiled and head-slapped him for doing so.
Lily paled significantly, as she thought about something like that happening to her daughter.
While her second half grew a lot more excited for the game to start.
With that said, Hadriana mounted her broom together with the others, and once the door opened the view revealed the quidditch pitch. The two teams flew high into the air, and the announcer's voice rang out clear as day through the cheering of each of their houses.
Lee Jordan's voice rang out, "Hello. Welcome to Hogwart's first quidditch game of the season. Today's game, Slytherin versus Gryffindor!" as the crowed screamed.
Hadriana flew higher than the others and watched everything that was happening below with excitement in her eyes.
"The players take their positions as Madam Hooch steps out into the field to begin the game!"
"Now I want a nice clean game… From all of you!" Madam Hooch said, giving a pointed look towards the Slytherins.
With that said, the trunk holding each of the different balls opened releasing the blungers and the golden snitch, the only thing that remained was the quaffle. The snitch flew around Hadriana and the seeker for the Slytherin team before flying off once again.
Madam Hooch flew down, grabs the quaffle and threw it high into the air starting the game.
"The quaffle is released, and the game… begins!" Lee says dramatically, as the quaffle was caught by one of the Gryffindor chasers, Angelina Johnson.
The Slytherin team's chasers chased after her, almost crashing into one of the teachers. Angelina dodges their attempts and scores.
"Angelina Johnson scores! Ten points to Gryffindor!" yells Lee while clapping excitingly, while McGonagall claps more politely from behind.
Hadriana was watching it happen from her broom, clapping when it happened. Almost getting hit by a bludger, but quickly got her balance back.
"Well done!" cheered Hagrid along with the rest of the Gryffindors, though, Snape looked bitter though the rest of the teachers clapped politely.
"Slytherin takes possession of the Quaffle. Bletchly passes it to captain Marcus Flint."
Flint dodges the bludger, while kicking the Gryffindor chaser that tried to come up from underneath him, and towards the Gryffindor hoops.
Everyone on the Slytherin side of the great hall frowned, they may not always play fair but that was just so uncalled for.
Then Wood blocked the quaffle skilfully, then passed it to one of his team members, he smirked at Flint who gives him a hateful glare.
The Gryffindor chasers pass the ball back and forth to one another, before Angelina throws it again, scoring another ten points.
"Another ten points for Gryffindor!" Lee yells, the Gryffindor house goes wild while the Slytherins glare at the players.
The Slytherins make their way back to the Gryffindor goal, and tried to score but Wood caught it right in the last minute and threw it back to his team.
"Give me that!" Flint growled pissed and snatched the bat from the Slytherin beater and hit the bludger hard. So, it hit Wood right in the head as he fell to the ground and passed out.
"How dare they!" Yelled Regulus from the Slytherin table, together with some of the more silent silver and green uniformed students. "That's some of the dirtiest play I have ever seen, we may play dirty, but we wouldn't intentionally hurt someone like that!" One other boy said for the whole table standing up together with his upperclassman.
Regulus smiled towards Ivan for having the courage to stand up and say something when the time was right, he gave a silent nod and sat right down to silently fume with everyone else in the great hall.
James looked shocked over towards the Slytherin table, 'Maybe, my daughter is right that not all of them is bad.' He nodded in quiet acceptance over to Sirius's younger brother, who was also nodding towards his younger brother with a smile.
Dumbledore was silently fuming, while on the outside he looked on proudly. 'This shouldn't have happened; they are ruining my foul-proof plan to create a divide.'
Hadriana glared at Flint, who gives her a disgusting grin while throwing the bat back towards their beater.
McGonagall looked down at Wood in concern, while the Slytherins all laugh at the boy. Hadriana starts to look around for the snitch as the Slytherin team scores but Wood isn't there to stop them.
"Take that side!" demanded Flint, as he and another Slytherin player squashed Angelina between them, snatching the quaffle from her and making her fall to the ground hard.
All the teachers were raised in worry, all beside Snape and Quirrell.
The Slytherin scored another goal, and Flint cheered on the rest of his team.
Hadriana was watching the game when she suddenly sees the snitch in the corner of her eye flying off, so, she flew of to get it before the Slytherin seeker when her broom suddenly jerks forward.
"What's going on with Hadriana's broomstick?" asked Hagrid, as Hadriana began to hold on to it with her dear life. When her broomstick did its best to throw her off.
"What's happening?" Lily asked in worry for her daughter, as James and Young Sirius watched on in confusion.
Hermione looks then through Hagrid's pair of binoculars, watching as Hadriana was jerked back and forth, then looked for the teachers noticing Snape who was watching their friend with immense concentration while mouthing words she couldn't quite make out.
Hermione quickly informed Ron looking worried, "It's Snape, he's the one jinxing the broom." She stated to Ron.
"You just had to look, just at him." Hadriana groans with mischievous eyes to the confusion of everyone.
"You must remember; he had always been awful to you then. So, of course, I focused on him." Hermione laughed knowing why she said it. To avoid the yelling that sure would have been coming from the Gryffindors and Snape's for sure comment as they completely forgot that they had already forgiven the guy for everything he had done to them throughout the years.
"Jinxing the broom? What do we do?" Ron asked while Hermione looked determined t do something she would have called idiotic.
"Leave that to me!" Hermione told him and left the stands while Ron looked up in worry.
Hadriana was still holding on for dear life when she was suddenly thrown off hanging from the broom with one hand. Looking down in fear, people gasping worried for her. She managed to climb back onto her broom before it started to malfunction again.
The scene slowly changed again to show Malfoy smirking, while Snape was still muttering small words.
"Come on, Hermione," Ron mumbled worriedly.
Hermione could be seen running up the stairs before stopping behind the bleachers. "Lacarnum Inflamarae." She whispered, as flames shot out of her want right onto Snape's cloak.
"You're on fire!" Someone yelled, making Snape look down trying to stomp out the fire. Quirrell backed away in fear and fell backwards.
Hadriana noticed that her broom became still, as she still tried to hold on to the broom. With that, she was off again seeking for the snitch to the cheer of the crowd below her.
"Is no one going to say something about miss perfect setting fire to Snape's cloak?" Young Sirius laughed before James could cheer his daughter on.
"I know, I laughed my ass off when I first heard it!" Sirius told his younger self knowing that he would get lovingly hit by his wife for this.
Hadriana just sighed, but she could admit that it was more fun to see it now than it had been to hear it from her friends.
The Slytherin seeker who had been after the snitch for a long time noticed Hadriana catching up to him much to his disappointment. They both had their eyes on the snitch when it suddenly changed its direction and began to fly straight down to the ground.
They began to fly after it glanced at each other when the Slytherin seeker pulled back afraid of smashing right into the ground. At the last second, Hadriana pulled up hovering just a few inches above the ground, the snitch in her sights. Hadriana stood carefully on top of her broom reaching for the golden snitch. When her foot hit the end of the broomstick, causing her to fly forward and roll around on the ground.
Hadriana stood up almost immediately, clutching her stomach like she was going to be sick. It caused many of the teachers along with her friends to worry. When she suddenly spit up the snitch from her mouth catching it in her palms. A small smirk graced her features as she held it up for everyone to see.
"So, let me get this straight!" James started and stood up from where he was sitting and enjoying the game. "You, my beautiful, talented, amazing, did I mention talented, daughter? Caught the snitch… in your mouth… your very first game." He said with a proud smile walking up to her and hugging her from behind over the couch she was sitting on with her family.
"That's right!" Hadriana said and leaned into the first hug from her father she could clearly remember.
"Amazing." He mumbled, "You have an amazing mother." He whispered to Teddy and messed up his hair fondly before he walked back to his seat. Where Lily hugged him for what he did, "you did something great there!" Lily whispered into his ear fondly, as she had seen the sweet but sad look in her daughters' eyes as James had hugged her.
Sirius kissed her on the cheek, "there you see…" he said quietly and fondly about what happened. Drying the small tear that had escaped her eyes after being hugged by her father, she snuggled back into Sirius's warm arms.
"She caught the snitch! Hadriana Potter receives, 150 points for catching the snitch." Lee yelled loudly into the microphone.
"Gryffindor wins!" Madam Hooch declared while the stands began to cheer loudly, all besides the Slytherins who looked ready to kill.
Hadriana raised her hand high in the air proud that she had managed it. At that moment she couldn't be happier.
