And we're here for chapter thirteen. Viridi's reset bombs have been stopped, but Devil Pit has something even better planned. Read the chapter to find out. Fair warning! Because this is where a character's backstory might break you, and not in a fun way. You already know the disclaimer, so enjoy!
Chapter 13: The Lunar Sanctum + DLC: Memories of the Dark Past
Music playing: First Pit's Victory song and then The Lunar Sanctum
Pit took off to the skies with the Virgo Palm equipped and began to sing a song, "Again today I will go soaring through the sky! My enemies, I'll dish 'em up in a stir-fry! Gracious Goddess of Light watches from up above! At dinnertime I always show the cook some love!" "What are you singing?" asked Palutena. "Just this little victory song I made up," said Pit. "We stopped Viridi! Now it's time to take down Hades!" (A/N: I loved that song Pit sang right there. Also, Fun Fact: There's a YouTube video about Viridi singing the victory song for the 10th anniversary of Kid Icarus: Uprising, and the 30th anniversary of Kid Icarus, months ago. I was originally going to begin writing this story down at that day, but I wanted to finish my prototype of it first. So, sorry for creating it late. Go check out the video made by Isabelle Amponin, the voice actress of Viridi from a spinoff of Palutena's Guidance called Hades' Misguidance from Zelda Universe. You can also go and check out the channel to find the playlist of Hades' Misguidance and another playlist of their own Palutena's Guidance DLC Fighters of both Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Anyways, resume.) "Not quite," Palutena pointed out. "We still have to contend with her forces. Specifically, Arlon the Serene." "Oh, is he one of her commanders?" Pit asked. "Yes, and he has a weapon so lethal, it makes Reset Bombs seem like firecrackers," Palutena explained. "Arlon's base is close by. You see the moon?" Pit then saw the moon Palutena mentioned. "Yeah, it's really pretty tonight," he said. "And what about that?" Palutena asked. "Like I said, they're pretty," Pit responded before realizing something. "Wait a sec... There are two moons?!" "They're like eyes watching you," said Palutena. "I wish they wouldn't," Pit said with a sigh. "I get stage fright." Suddenly, Pit saw the second moon split apart. "Whoa whoa whoa!" he exclaimed. "What kind of moon IS that?!" "THAT'S Arlon's Lunar Sanctum," explained Palutena. "Clearly, there's more to it than meets the eye." "Very cool!" Pit exclaimed. But then he saw a beam that fired at him and he barely dodged it. "And dangerous!" he added in fright. He then continued to fight more Forces of Nature troops and avoiding the laser beams. "I take it back!" Pit exclaimed. "It's not cool at all!" "We're going in!" said Palutena as she guided Pit closer to the sanctum. The angel continued to fight and take down more and more Forces of Nature enemies while also dodging more laser beams. "I'm getting close!" he exclaimed. "I'll get you there," said Palutena. "Just focus on avoiding fire." Pit did so and received four more Recovery Orbs to replenish his health. He then took down more Forces of Nature enemies after avoiding those laser beams. "Those lasers are quite the security system," said Palutena. "You're telling me!" Pit replied. "With all THIS firepower, Arlon must be preparing for a massive attack," Palutena continued. Then, the goddess and angel heard another voice. "Why on earth would I be attacking?" he asked. "I'm far too busy...defending, my dear." "Huh?!" Pit wondered. Turns out, it was commander Arlon the Serene. "You must be Commander Arlon," said Palutena. "Pleasure to make your acquaintance, Lady Palutena," replied Arlon. "And yours too, young master Pit. I have heard tales of your prowess from our Mistress Viridi." And I also remembered you back in the past, he added in thought. Back then before that war began...and I'm afraid it has started again. "Well, that's...weirdly nice of her..." Pit responded. "She said I mustn't let your attacks spread chaos HERE of all places," Arlon explained further. "Before you cause a most unnatural harm, let us sit down for a chat." "I might consider it if you withdrew your forces..." Palutena responded. "...and banded with us to face the Underworld Army together." "Those decisions fall to the will of Mistress Viridi," Arlon explained. "Unfortunately, it's entirely out of my purview. I do hope you understand." That and I'm not sure if she could listen to any of us about HIM, he added in thought. Hmm... I was afraid you'd say that, Palutena thought. So much for trying... "What's a purview? And why do you talk like that?" Pit questioned. Bad guys are supposed to be more like 'Graaahhh!' and 'I'm gonna KEEL you!'" (A/N: Immediately after I heard that and wrote it down here, I was bursting with laughter.) "The young master is skilled in impressions, I see," said Arlon, amused. "Would you care to perform more?" "Uh, that's all I've got," Pit replied. He then continued to take down more enemies, until the sanctum's core turned to prepare to fire again. "Pit! Watch out!" Palutena warned. "Huh?" Pit wondered, and then immediately noticed the laser and swiftly dodged it. "Aaaaaugh!" he cried. "That attack was vicious!" said Palutena. "I see a corridor we can enter through. Hold on!" She then guided Pit to the side of the sanctum for safety, thought not by much, and Pit continued to take down more enemies. "It's not much safer in here!" he said. "As I mentioned earlier, the Lunar Sanctum is very heavily fortified," Palutena explained. "But a victory here could help us contain all of Viridi's army." "I'll take care of it somehow!" said Pit, determined to win. He then noticed something...off. "Huh... Their defenses are thinning out," he said. "I'm still detecting enemies, though, so be careful," warned Palutena. As on queue, ghostly-like enemies appeared out of nowhere to attack their foe. "Augh!" Pit exclaimed in shock. "Let me introduce you to the Flages, the covert-ops specialists for Viridi's army," Arlon explained. "Do they strike your fancy?" "Uh, NO!" Pit scowled. "Personally, I'm quite fond of them," said Arlon. "Right, 'cause I care SO much," Pit replied, sarcastically, even though Arlon didn't take note of that. "Your concern is noted," he said. "I WAS BEING SARCASTIC!" Pit yelled. "I don't care at all!" He proceeded to take them down and avoid laser beams. Then Arlon spoke, "Oh, yes, I almost forgot." "Forgot what?" asked Palutena. "To close the gates!" Arlon replied. "And the gates...go...shut." Arlon closed the gates to slow Pit down, only for him to destroy the weak spots and go through them. "Yikes! yelped the angel. "Cut it out!" "The Power of Flight is running out," Palutena warned. "We have to move! Find the breakable spots on the gates, and shoot through. You can also break through with melee attacks." Luckily, Pit broke through the gates successfully and was getting closer to reaching Arlon. "There's an entry point through a duct up ahead," Palutena pointed out "It's tight, so watch out!" She then sent Pit to the duct and he crashed throught. "Hrrt?!" he yelped in pain. (A/N: You might be wondering why Devil Pit is not there. Continue reading to find out.)

Pit then skited to a halt and was amazed by the inside of the Lunar Sanctum. "Talk about ritzy!" he exclaimed. "It's like a whole other world," said Palutena, amazed as well. "A classier world." "I'm deeply flattered by your gracious compliments," said Arlon, blushing a bit. "Who knew the Lunar Sanctum would be so nice?" said Pit. "I could get used to a place like this!" Palutena agreed. "Perhaps you could," said Arlon. "But the Lunar Sanctum doesn't have room for any...MORE guests." That and Mistress Viridi would get suspicious about joining sides, because she might not listen to us, he added in thought. "Uh, it's not THAT nice," said Palutena. "I don't care how nice this place is!" exclaimed Pit. "It won't stop me from taking you down!" "I understand," replied Arlon. "You have no regard for other people's property." Although I do wish we could chat and talk about the return of the War of Chaos, he added in thought. I can't believe it's happening again just like...last time. Suddenly, Pit noticed a green hologram of a Nutski that was set up by Arlon. "Are my eyes playing tricks on me?" he asked. "Arlon seems to have a penchant for visual trickery," said Palutena. "It's just a little something I whipped up to whet your appetite," Arlon responded. "This is so annoying," Pit exclaimed in frustration. "Lady Palutena. Help me out here." "Deploying the Palutena Super Sensor..." said Palutena. "I didn't know you had a super sensor!" said Pit."Hee hee. I don't," giggled the goddess. "You know I like to make stuff up." I can't believe you're messing with me at a time like this!" Pit exclaimed again. "Don't fret," Palutena replied. You can use the green arrows to guide your way." "Now how did you manage to place those here?" Arlon asked. "Ooh, it seems you've infiltrated the Lunar Sanctum's control core, Palutena. That leaves me relatively defenseless. I'd best rectify that posthaste. If you'll excuse me, I must go gird my loins for your arrival." "TMI! Nobody wants to hear about your loins!" Pit yelled in disgust as soon as Arlon left for a while. (A/N: I found that rather funny.) While Pit was going to a room with a Grind Rail, Palutena decided to tell Pit something. "It looks like your wings are losing feathers, Pit," she said. "Hmm, I didn't notice," Pit replied. "But I guess you're right." "I wonder if your wings are going bald," Palutena continued. "WHY WOULD YOU EVEN SAY THAT?" Pit yelled. "Sorry—it just sort of slipped out," Palutena apologized. "Here, if you just kind of push the other feathers over the bald spot..." "I AM NOT DOING A COMB-OVER!" Pit yelled again, ending the conversation. He then hopped on the Grind Rail and took down more enemies. He also flipped some switches to change the color of the Grind Rail in order to not fall off. Once he hopped out of it, he continued onwards. He took down a lot more enemies and hopped on another Grind Rail. He made sure to hop on a different one in order to avoid falling down and flip the switches to avoid the same problem, while also taking down more enemies and ignoring the holograms. He then hopped off the Grind Rail and entered another room where he was ambushed by more enemies. He took them all down, while ignoring more holograms, and proceeded onwards. He then entered a room with a giant mirror. "Now what do I do?" he asked. "Look carefully at the mirror's image," Palutena explained. "You'll notice some inconsistency." Pit did as he was told and carefully navigated through the correct path in order not to fall down. He then entered the Lunar Sanctum Control Center where he noticed his doppelganger, Dark Pit, waiting for him. "Pittoo!" exclaimed the light angel. "Seriously, that is the last time I want to hear 'Pittoo!'" replied the annoyed dark angel as the two of them prepared themselves to fight.
Music stops and switches to: Dark Pit's Theme
"Arlon, did you call Pittoo here?" Palutena asked while the light and dark angels fight each other. "I most certainly did," Arlon replied. "He's not usually one to follow orders," Palutena explained. "How did you persuade him?" "It was quite simple, actually. Just the mention of young master Pit's presence..." Arlon explained. "...was enough to send his twin running here." "Pittoo just isn't happy unless he's fighting someone," said Palutena, sadly. And in this case, it would be his original self, she added in thought. But I wonder what he would think about Devil Pit if he encountered him again. Speaking of which, I don't sense his presence anywhere. Where could he be? "You say that like it's a bad thing!" said Dark Pit. "You stay out of this!" shouted the original counterpart. During the fight, the Control Center remained in place and can fire explosive shots at either angel. This time, the dark angel was not going down that easily. He continued to fire charged shots at Pit when he's far away, and attacked him with a melee combo when he's close. But Pit wasn't going down that way and managed to dodge and block those attacks. Then the light angel took down his dark doppelganger. "Now what, fool!" he taunted. "Just wait till next time!" said Dark Pit as he flew away. But Pit was not done just yet. There was still the Lunar Sanctum Control Center that must be destroyed. "Destroy the Lunar Sanctum Control Center," said Palutena. Pit did so by using charged shots and continued shooting attacks to blow it up. "The Control Center is toast!" he exclaimed. He then drank another Drink of the Gods after that tough fight and continued onwards up on a lift.

Pit then arrived at a path where most of the panels are missing. "Where are we?" he wondered. He proceeded to take down more enemies and nearly fell over an empty panel. "Whoa!" he exclaimed as barely got back up. "It's a bit daunting, I agree," said Palutena. Pit then carefully continued onwards and took down more enemies along the way, until... "Ha...chooo!" sneezed Palutena and a meteor suddenly crashed into the ground. "Augh!" Pit gasped in horror. "Are you trying to get me smooshed?" "Huh? That wasn't my doing," said Palutena, confused. "Goodness. So sorry," Arlon apologized. "I must have lost myself in the golden melody of her sneeze." "That's why you should cover your sneezes," said Pit. "I would never!" Palutena replied. "A strong sneeze is the sign of a strong spirit." After that little skit, Pit defeated more enemies and continued onwards. He then entered through a door and arrived at a room with a night sky. "This is so cooool!" the angel exclaimed in amazement. "It's like the surface of the moon!" "Why was the Lunar Sanctum built anyway?" Palutena questioned. "That information is highly confidential," Arlon replied. "That only makes me more curious," Palutena continued. "Curious or not, I took an oath of silence, and I intend to honor it!" said Arlon. (A/N: I mean, he's not wrong. Most people do not talk about their secrets.) "Now, now, no need to get all bent out of shape," said Palutena. "After all, your name IS 'Arlon the Serene.'" Pit joined in. "I'm well aware of my name! But back to the topic at hand," Arlon continued. "I cannot tell you the reasons WHY this sanctum was built. But I can say that it runs on my powers. Without me, it's just a husk, an empty shell, an orbiting house of cards." "Ooh, that sounds fancy," said Pit, impressed. "I don't think we're getting the whole story here..." said Palutena, unconvinced. "You're in no position to demand explanations," said Arlon. "I am beholden only to Mistress Viridi, and you two are thorns in her side." But I do wish there was a way I could tell her about this war we're currently in, he added in thought. If only HE didn't do anything to my lady all those years ago... "You've made your allegiances quite clear," Palutena replied. Although with you guys joining us, it would be much better, she added in thought. With you joined hands, we would be able to win this war against the Underworld, and hopefully Devil Pit can surrender his crimes. "Then enough talk!" exclaimed Pit. "Let's get back to fighting!" Pit then used an Exo Tank to take down more enemies and move forward. After he no longer needed the Exo Tank, he continued onwards and used an elevator which looked like the shape of a moon. "So, this is an elevator?" Pit asked. "That seems to be the case," Palutena responded. After he got out of the elevator, he continued to take down more enemies and continued onwards. He then entered a room with a rotating platform that has mines and two Clobblers. "Don't just shoot wildly, Pit," warned Palutena. "You do NOT want to get those Clobblers mad. Try luring each one into a mine." "Good idea!" Pit agreed. "Pit's lucky to have such an excellent guide," Arlon complimented. "Though we're on opposing sides, I must commend your work, Palutena." "Thanks. It's just part of my job," Palutena replied. "Besides, Pit's the one doing all the heavy lifting. Which is especially impressive for someone so small." After defeating them, he continued onwards and took down a lot more enemies along the way until he was getting closer to Arlon. "Arlon's quarters are directly ahead," Palutena pointed out. "Good luck." Pit then drank another Drink of the Gods and entered the room.

There Pit saw Arlon waiting for him. "Arlon!" he exclaimed. "Welcome. Please make yourself comfortable," Arlon greeted. "It is my great honor to represent Mistress Viridi and the Forces of Nature." His eye glow red after he finished talking. Now then, let's see how capable you are in defeated me this time, he thought and the battle began. Arlon started the fight by firing energy blasts that were slow to catch his opponent. Pit dodged it and proceeded to attack Arlon with a melee combo. Suddenly, Arlon covered the battle arena in darkness. "I can't see!" Pit exclaimed in shock. "Focus, Pit," said Palutena. "Pay attention to where Arlon's attacks are coming from. After he attacks, shoot in that direction." Luckily, Pit saw where Arlon's attacks were and he attack him back. "I say!" Arlon exclaimed. "Good! Just like that!" said Palutena, proudly. Arlon then continued to attack Pit with rings that deal damage and come back like boomerangs. Pit dodged them and continued to attack Arlon. "Very impressive, young master Pit," said the serene, impressed. "But it's time to reveal the true extent of my power!" Arlon then covered the area in darkness again, but this time, it was much harder to see him and can only be found when he attacks again. Luckily, Pit dodged the attacks and found Arlon again. He then took him down after dealing loads of melee attacks at his foe. "Blast!" Arlon groaned in defeat. "Whew! I can finally catch my breath!" Pit sighed in relief. However, after Arlon was defeated, the form of him suddenly vanished to reveal who he REALLY was...

"Wow! I can't believe my disguise actually worked!" exclaimed Devil Pit. "Such a shame that it was short lived, but I'm honestly surprised that you didn't even get a glimpse of my appearance, not even after my eye glow red." "WHAT?!" Pit exclaimed in shock. "Devil Pit?!" said Palutena, surprised. "YOU were Arlon the entire time?!" "Yes I was," the Devil replied. "And now that you're here, Pit, it's finally time to finish what I've started. And that is to kill you right here in the Lunar Sanctum." "Answer me this first!" Pit shouted. "How did you get Arlon's form!" "Because he took half of my powers!" said a new voice. "What the fuck?!" exclaimed Devil Pit, and as on queue, he dodged an incoming blast that came out of nowhere. Pit turned around to see who it was and turned out that the attack came from the REAL Arlon the Serene. "Arlon?!" Pit exclaimed, confused. "W-what's going on here?" "What are you doing here?!" shouted Devil Pit. "How did you escape from your prison? I thought I locked you up in this sanctum." "The Lunar Sanctum runs on MY powers!" said Arlon. "You have no control over it!" "Grr!" Devil Pit growled. Pit was still trying to comprehend what's going on. "Arlon, what do you mean that Arlon took half of your powers?" Then something clicked. "Wait a minute! I remember that YOU did the same thing to Cragalanche!" He pointed at Devil Pit. "Oh, so you do know about that," he replied. "That's exactly what I did back at that forest." "And you took my form to disguise yourself after you captured me in my own cell!" exclaimed Arlon. "Correct, and I have also stolen your memories so that I could be able to know what to say in order for Pit to not get suspicious." "Clever, very clever..." said the angel. "I've been busy trying to do my work, and now that you're free from your prison, I'd say it's time for some payback!" Devil Pit concluded. "Oh we'll see how well you can take both of us on!" said Arlon. "Young Master Pit, it would be wise if we could work together and take him down!" "I agree!" Pit replied. "Prepare yourself, Devil Pit, because we're not letting you leave this place alive!" "We'll see about that," said Devil Pit. "Now then, time to fight with these weapons I'm going to form after I absorbed your powers, Arlon!" He then summoned his weapons known as the Arlon Orbitars. "Are you ready to dance? Then let's dance!" he taunted. "Here we go!" said Pit. "Prepare yourself, Devil!" said Arlon and the battle began.

Devil Pit flew up and used his Arlon Orbitars to shoot down powerful attacks at his foes. Pit and Arlon dodged them and they fought back at him with their attacks. "You know, Arlon, it's been a while ever since our last meeting," Devil Pit started. "I remember the time I fought you and you lost the fight. Consider yourself having a rematch against me!" "I cannot forgive you for what you did to me!" Arlon exclaimed. "You murdered my lady and now it's time to show you justice!" "Wait! What are you talking about?" Pit questioned. "That's not important right now!" Devil Pit responded. "It's time that I show you the power of darkness and send you to the darkest pit of Abyss!" He then covered the area in darkness just like Arlon did. "Argh!" Pit yelped. "Do not fear, Master Pit!" said Arlon. "I can push those powers back and force the darkness to retreat! But it's going to take time, so wisely find him and strike him down!" "Normally I would be the one to help Pit out," Palutena started. "But since I saw how you can use your powers very well, you two must work together to take down Devil Pit." "Of course, Lady Palutena!" Arlon responded. "With pleasure!" said Pit. Pit then found Devil Pit in the dark and proceeded to attack him, but Devil Pit soon flew away from his enemy. "How dare you?!" he scowled. "Because you will never beat us when we work together to stop you!" Pit responded. "Don't make me laugh!" Devil Pit scoffed. "Arlon lost to me once, and he will do it again. And soon, you'll be joining him in his demise!" "I wouldn't be so sure about that," said Pit. Suddenly, the darkness faded away thanks to Arlon. "What just happened?" asked Devil Pit. "What happened to the darkness?" "I pushed it away with my powers," said Arlon. "I also blocked your ability to use it again. Now then, Master Pit, let us commence to the beatdown of the monster!" "Consider that done!" exclaimed the angel. "You'll pay for that!" shouted Devil Pit. He then charged at his foes and first shot them with shooting attacks and then used melee attacks once either one of them were knocked down. Luckily, Pit and Arlon fought back at the Devil with full force until Devil Pit was finally defeated. "Curse you!" he shouted in defeat. "Now then, time for some answers!" said Arlon.

Devil Pit was on the ground and lost his Arlon Orbitars. Arlon's powers were then absorbed back to him. "How did you get your powers back Arlon?" Pit asked. "Let me explain," Devil Pit started. "After you defeated me, any powers that I absorbed from different deities get set back to them. Meaning that they can revive with their powers once again or gain them back when they're still alive. Before you ask, yes, both the Phoenix and Cragalanche got their powers back after you defeated me twice." "Now that you mentioned it, I visited the Phoenix mountain after that mission," said Palutena. "Turns out I saw the Phoenix back alive before the humans fought against each other for that Wish Seed." "That explains," said Pit. "And it also explains how the mighty Cragalanche was back in shape as if he was fine," said Arlon. "However, we need to get straight to the point," said Devil Pit. "Tell Pit, Arlon, how I knew you back when I killed HER." "Very well," said Arlon. "Pit, there is something that I need to tell you and you must listen to me very carefully." "I'm listening..." said Pit as a flashback began when Arlon spoke his story.

Arlon's POV
Begin flashback
Many years ago, we were happy to have a new goddess to join us. Mistress Viridi was the newborn, and we celebrated the day of her arrival. My Lady Gaia told me that she will be a good girl and she'll be taking her place at the day she die. I was happy to hear that Mistress Viridi will be a great ruler in the future. I then took her to her new home at her room where I became her guardian. Lady Gaia, Lady Palutena, and Mistress Medusa followed me suite. We all get to enjoy her smile and took care of here to make her be a strong girl and protect Nature from any bad things. Each of the Goddess Sisters said their prayers to Viridi. "I wish for Viridi to take my place after I die," said Lady Gaia. "I wish for Viridi to bring peace and happiness for Nature and humanity," said Lady Palutena. "I wish for Viridi to be a mighty protector and skilled warrior to protect Nature form evil," said Mistress Medusa. I was happy to hear their prayers to Mistress Viridi.
Devil Pit's POV (in thought)
But while you were having your little prayers, I had some work to do with my brother. We had to bury the bodies of two people we lost because of Gaia. We took out our shovels and buried them in their graves and prayed them to rest in peace. My brother wanted to move on with life, but I couldn't and had a lot of work to do.
Arlon's POV
But then, tragedy struck for all of us. Chaos erupted as the Three Goddess Sisters began an all-out war. That monster, who we fought, was with Lady Palutena during that time. She instructed him to take down Mistress Medusa, but he instead went after Lady Gaia. I tried to stop him, but he took me down and I had no other choice but to retreat and recover. After I while, I warned my lady that the Devil was coming to kill her. When I saw him going after her with his Three Sacred Treasures, I was in a panic. I began to take Mistress Viridi in my arms and went over to Lady Gaia as fast as I could...but I was too late...

There I found Lady Gaia in her last remaining minutes before her death. We saw the monster responsible for her death and he laughed so sinisterly, "HAHAHAHAHAHA!" He then flew away as I mourn over my lady's death and my failure. Mistress Viridi opened her eyes and saw Lady Gaia dead before my lady passed away and disappeared. We both cried and mourned over her.

Palutena's POV
But that doesn't end the story there. I was in my temple and was crying over the death of Gaia. It was also raining at that time. I couldn't do anything to stop him. "Dear Gods..." I whisper. "I never knew he could've done this... I never should have trusted him to do our mission... He lied to me... I thought he would've taken care of Medusa and not Gaia... But, to think he could-" I then heard knocking on my door which interrupted my train of thoughts. "Who could that be at this moment right now...?" I wondered. I then opened the door and saw Arlon, crying in tears over Gaia's death. "Lady Palutena..." he started. "I failed... I couldn't save Lady Gaia... I couldn't stop that monster..."

Normal POV
At this point, Pit could not believe what he just heard. He began to tear up after he heard both Arlon and Palutena explain the story. "No..." he cried. "He... He killed Gaia?! How could he do such a thing like that?! ... Wait a minute... I remember that one tape recoding about YOU talking about Gaia!" He pointed at Devil Pit. "And you also said that you used these 'Secret Murder Weapons.' Could it mean that you used those weapons to fight her?!" "Now you're starting to catch up on things," said Devil Pit. "Yes. It was me that killed Gaia, but that's not the full story. If you want more answers, then take this." He tossed Pit a cassette tape which the angel caught. "Another tape?" he wondered. "Maybe this one will give you the answers to your questions," said Devil Pit. "But don't think I'm done with you just yet." "And just what do you mean by that, monster?!" "Oh... Let's just say...Hmhmhmhmhm...I've planned a special surprised just for you..." Devil Pit chuckled. He then pulled out a remote. "What is with that remote?" Pit asked. "Right before you arrived at the Lunar Sanctum, and after I took Arlon's form, I place some bombs around here so that you'll NEVER get out of here alive this time!" Devil Pit explained. "Wait WHAT?!" Pit exclaimed. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have more important business to take care of," said the Devil as he pushed the button on his remote. "WARNING! BOMBS HAVE BEEN ACTIVATED!" said the system. "THE BOMBS WILL EXPLODE IN: 10 MINUTES." "I bid you adieu, my arch-enemies," said Devil Pit as he flew away. "You monster!" exclaimed Pit. "Young Master Pit!" said Arlon. "I'd advise you to get out of here as quickly as possible! I will also be on your side now that the Devil is on the loose. But I cannot tell Mistress Viridi about this, because I'm not sure if she would listen to us." "Thanks Arlon!" Pit replied. "We'll do our best to stop him." "As always, Master Pit," said Arlon as he bowed and teleported away. "Hurry Pit!" said Palutena. "The bombs could explode any minute now! Get out of there!" "I'm on my way, Lady Palutena!" said Pit as he ran away.

Pit ran through the Lunar Sanctum as fast as possible and avoided falling obstacles that nearly crushed him. "Yikes!" he yelped. "I almost got squashed right there! I need to get out of here and fast!" He continued on his way as fast as he could. "Pit! Hurry! You don't have much time left!" said Palutena worried. "We're sitting ducks if you don't get out before the bombs go off!" "THE BOMBS WILL EXPLODE IN: 5 MINUTES," said the system. "Crud! I better hurry!" yelped Pit. He continued on wards until he reached a room and found something. "Huh?" he wondered. "What's this?" He picked up a piece of a powerful weapon. "That looks like a piece of the Daybreak we used back in both Light vs. Dark and Free-for-All tournaments," said Palutena. "It appears to be split in three pieces. Since you got one, keep going and find the way out of the sanctum." "I'm on my way!" said Pit. "THE BOMBS WILL EXPLODE IN: 1 MINUTE," said the system. "Crud! I better hurry!" the angel yelped. He then continued onwards and he finally found the way out. "I think I see the exit!" said Pit. "Then let's get you out of there quickly!" said Palutena. "Activating the Power of Flight." She then flew Pit out of the Sanctum before... "5...4...3...2..1.." the system counted down and then the bombs went off. The Lunar Sanctum was completely destroyed and Pit made it out of there safe and sound. "Phew! That was close!" Pit sighed in relief. "Thankfully we got a new ally with us and he'll stop Devil Pit once and for all!" Suddenly, an unknown creature came out of the sanctum and Palutena saw it. "Wait... What's that...THING breaking free?" she asked. "Oh, I'm sure it's nothing," said Pit after he saw the creature as it flew away. "I'm...not so sure," said Palutena, unconcerned. "But Viridi's forces are still a threat, except for Arlon of course, so let's keep the heat on the others." She then opened up a light pillar and whisked Pit back to the temple.

Pit and Palutena discussed about what to do next, since they now have a new ally. "I don't know if we should continue to fight against the Forces of Nature," said Pit. "Maybe there can be a way to talk our way out of the fights." "I'm sorry, Pit," Palutena apologized. "But there is no other way to convince them to join us. We only got Arlon because he knew what Devil Pit did to him." "Wait... You said that Medusa was your sister and...is it true that Gaia was one of them as well?" Pit asked. Palutena was slient for a moment before she reluctantly admitted, "Yes... She was..." "That monster!" Pit yelled. "How could he do such a thing like that?!" "I'm...not sure..." Palutena responded. "But one thing's for sure is that we need to listen to the next tape he gave you." "Sure thing," said Pit. They then brought everyone again to listen to the next tape. Pit then place the tape marked "Moonlight Showdown" into the tape player and pressed PLAY.

"I managed to reach the Lunar Sanctum," said the sinister voice. "In order for me to continue my bloodlust murder, I need to get rid of him. I followed along the path and took down more enemies of their forces. Along the way, I encountered an unfamiliar creature. Gaia said that it was a powerful creature created by her to slow me down. However, that proved to be a match for me as I took it down. I then corrupted it and sent it to kill Gaia. Unfortunately, it would seem that Gaia managed to stop it from killing her and, with the help of Arlon, locked it up in the same Lunar Sanctum. I also found out that Arlon is Gaia's personal butler. Once I defeat him, I will go after Gaia next, and I will claim my vengeance for what SHE DID TO ME...!" *click*

Everyone gasped at what they heard from that tape. Pit and Palutena were the most shocked at that. "So...Arlon was right all along!" Pit exclaimed. "But...I can't tell if the voice is either Devil Pit or somebody else. It's too disoriented for me to understand it." "I agree," said Palutena. "But we can't think too much about that now. We need to focus on our next mission, and we also need to watch out for Devil Pit if he comes out to stop either one of us." "Or maybe all of us at once," Pit wondered. "Maybe, but we need to be careful and on our guard," said Palutena. "Roger!" Pit affirmed. Then they all head back into their rooms to prepare for the next mission.

Devil Pit was on the edge of a cliff waiting. "He should arrive any minute now," he said. Just then, he saw the same escape creature appear and flew right to him. "Ah, I see that you haven't changed ever since our first encounter all those years ago," he told the creature. "I have a very important job for you. Your mission is to head over to the Overworld, kill lots of humans, and bring their souls to me. But don't do that just yet. I have important business to take care of first. You must wait here until the time has come." The creature nodded and stayed put. "Good. Now if you'll excuse me, I have work to do," said Devil Pit. "I'll see you on the other side...Hmhmhmhmhm..." He then pulled out his "Special Weapon" and flew away to where Pit will begin his next mission while the creature was left behind in is place as it was ordered.
