RIP Jason David Frank, who sadly passed away yesterday. Long live the Green Ranger.

TW: I agree, which is why The Doctor had to do what he did.

After the calling it a day for the recordings, the group had gathered in the kitchen, where they had more or less picked at their dinner before turning in for the night, emotionally drained from the events of the day.

So the next morning found the group gathering in the kitchen once more, where they found Jane waiting at the table, food once more on the table.

"So, who wants to go first?" Jane asked once they all sat down.

"That last one was…intense," Mickey said lamely.

"They all were really in their own way," Martha added.

"You weren't bloody kidding about this set being brutal," Donna grumbled.

"Really wish I was," Jane sighed. "But the rest of the set isn't quite as intense."

"Thank bloody God for that," Donna grumbled.

"So, we should be close to the end of this set now, right?" Jack asked and Jane nodded.

"Just three more to go," Jane confirmed.

"If this is just the second set, almost don't want to know what's in the third," Martha grumbled and Jane smiled tightly.

"You have no idea," she said simply. "Before we get started, I assume you have some mixed feelings about how the last one ended."

"I'll say," Donna grumbled.

"The Doctor. He all but killed Amy's future self," Wilf pointed out.

"Even if she never existed, Wilf's right, he as good as murdered her," Martha said, horrified by the thought.

"I understand why he did it, but…" Donna trailed off.

"But it doesn't make it any easier to see," Jack said and Donna nodded.

"I know how you feel, believe me. I had the same reaction when I first saw it. I can't say I'm okay with what he did, because I doubt he was okay with it. I think it haunted him as much as any other regrets he's ever had," Jane sighed as the past viewers paused, considering this. "Sometimes, good people are forced to do terrible things."

"And this was one such time," Martha sighed as Jane nodded.

"Dad told me once that we always have a choice, and he's right. He could've chosen to save the future Amy, meaning Amy would suffer for over thirty years, maybe live a few more decades and then die with Rory by her side, having lived what should have been the best years of her life in Hell. Or he could chose to save the past Amy, knowing she and Rory might hate him for it but they would get to live the rest of their lives together, as they deserve to. Which would you choose?" Jane asked and they paused, considering her words.

"I guess it is all very complicated," Wilf mused.

"It always is," Jack noted with a faraway look in his eyes.

"And did they? Hate him for it?" Mickey asked.

"He never had to find out with Amy. Rory didn't think she would be able to handle the truth, so he lied to her, told her they dropped her off somewhere on some distant planet," Jane explained.

"He shouldn't have done that. He should have trusted her enough to tell her the truth," Donna said with a frown, angry on Amy's behalf.

"I think on some level, Amy did figure it out," Jane frowned as she considered the next recording before shaking her head. "But I agree with you Donna. Rory should have told Amy the truth, but, just like Dad, he did what he thought was right."

"And Rory?" Martha asked uncertainly.

"Rory certainly forgave Dad, but I don't think he ever forgot, or trusted Dad the same way ever again. I think after that, Rory was just kind of done with all of it for a while," Jane mused and the room was silent for a moment. "In any case, we still have a lot more recordings to get through. We should eat."

"Yeah. Yeah, I guess so," Martha said with a sigh, only wondering how much worse the recordings were going to get, if what Jane had said yesterday was true.

So they loaded their plates with food, beginning to eat as they prepared for whatever they may see today.

The aftermath of The Girl Who Waited is strangely never explored on the show, but the most likely scenario is Rory lying to Amy, given the lack of any real impact in the following episode and I can see Rory sort of justifying it to himself by not thinking Amy could handle it. At the same time, Amy is not stupid and on some level would figure out the truth, which would make her losing faith in The Doctor so easily next episode make a lot more sense.
