I am the worst! I promise to do better. Here is an update ;)

Chapter 4

FUMFUM! Came the sound of thunder as the power went out in Kate's at home gym. "WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK" screams Kate as she lets her head lie on the cool wooden floor of the room. Opening the weather app, she realizes that there's at least another six hours until the storm ends. Having her phone on thirty-seven percent, she decides to text her younger sister to see if her family still has power.

Kate: Hey Eddie, just checking in. Are you guys okay and do you still have power?

Edwina: Hey Katie! We're doing okay, how are you?

We still have power. Mom's actually at the store right now and I am making homemade pizzas!

Kate: Why is Mom out during a storm?

Also, I am hanging in there. Just lost power in the middle of my workout though.

Edwina: We were running low on toilet paper. Come over. Pizza, wine, AND movies!

I'll call mom to pick you up.

Kate: That's unnecessary. Enjoy it for me though.

Edwina: She already agreed

Make sure to take a shower. No one wants to smell your funky ass

Kate: Tom does

AND MY ASS ISN'T FUNKY!

Edwina: Gross :/

Before Kate can even type a response back to her sister, her phone dings again.

Mary: Hi sweetie! I am on my way so I will see you soon. I love you!

Kate: Thanks mom, I'll see you soon. I love you too!

Kate shuts off her phone and heads to her bathroom to take a shower. "I can't believe Edwina said my ass' funky" says Kate aloud. In the shower, she lets the sound of the cold water drown out the rumbling of the rain. Hating cold showers, she quickly cleans herself up and shuts off the water. Drying herself off, she puts on cocoa butter. Rummaging threw her drawers, she throws on her favorite t-shirt, a UChicago shirt left behind by Anthony, and throws on her black sweatsuit from Áwet.

Sliding on her shoes, she gets a text notification alerting her of Mary's arrival. Locking her door, she runs to her mom's 2018 Toyota Highlander. "Hi mom!" Kate says as she hugs Mary. "Hi baby!" Mary replies into her hair as she's still tightly holding onto her eldest daughter. As Mary pulls off, Kate stares at her mother. "What?" Mary asks, fingers tapping on the wheel to the beat of the song playing lowly on the radio. "Nothing. I've just missed you."

"I've missed you too, Katie" is heard from a smiling Mary. "How is work?"

"Its going great, I cannot complain. How's work, mom?"

"Its going great as well. How was your date with that handsome fellow?"

"I am glad to hear it. Tom is lovely, but I do not seeing it going anywhere and he knows it."

"He is quite smitten with you."

"Well, he will have to settle as being a friend."

"Does this have to do with Anthony?"

"No…why would you bring him up?"

"It is okay to not be over Anthony."

"I don't want to talk about Anthony."

Okay."

They sit in silence while "Is This Love" by Bob Marley plays. "Is this love, is this love, is this love, is this love that I am feeling?"

Arriving at the house, Kate is immediately greeted with the delicious smell of pizza. "Eddie, I'm homeeeeee!" calls Kate and she only has seconds to open her arms before getting brought into a bear hug by her younger sister. "I have missed you, Didi!" Kate chuckles, "We got lunch together on Tuesday." "My point still stands." argues Edwina.

Entering the kitchen, Kate pulls off her hoodie and takes a seat at the breakfast island. "The food smells lovely, Bon!" says Kate. "Thanks Didi! Once it cools down, we can move them into the living room and play a movie." replies Edwina, smiling brightly at her older sister. "Mom, what are you in the mood for? The Matrix?" asks Kate with a smirk. "I tell you girls that I once had a crush on Keanu Reeves and you refuse to let it go!" huffs Mary. "Sorry mom, but I don't think either of us thought he would be your type." answers Edwina. Mary rolls her eyes, but does not respond.

Eventually Mary and the girls settle into the living room, plates of pizza and glasses of wine in hand, deciding to watch a series instead. Having finished reading the book Little Fires Everywhere not too long ago, the Sharma women decided it would be a good idea to watch the tv series of it. Being hooked, they finished it all in one sitting, along with three bottles of wine. "Kerry Washington is wickedly talented, and so is Reese Witherspoon." praises Mary. "And the actors portraying the younger versions of themselves did such a good job mimicking their mannerisms!" adds Eddie. "It was really good, but now I am left with the feeling of 'what do I do now?'" is heard from Kate. "I get the feeling, Katie!" says Mary as she gathers things to take to the kitchen. The girls follow her, picking up whatever is left behind.

They continue to discuss the show as they wash the dishes and store away leftovers. Mary smiles at her daughters, returning plates and glasses to their respective places. "I love you both very much, but I am exhausted. Goodnight my loves." murmurs Mary as she presses a kiss to each of her daughters' heads. "We love you too, Mom! Goodnight." is said by the girls at the exact same, making everyone erupt with laughter. Once Mary is out of earshot, Edwina asks Kate all the questions she has been holding in.

"How was your date with Tom?"

"It was good."

"Good enough for a second date?"

"I don't think so…"
"Is he boring?"

"No."

"Does he have bad breath?"

"Nope."

"Is he bad in bed?"

"No, Bon! Geez! He is a great guy but it just felt platonic."

"Why?"

"I don't know, I am just uninterested."

"Is it because of Anthony?"
"God no! What is up with everyone bringing him up."

"It is a valid question, Didi. Do you still love Anthony?"
"It does not matter."

"That did not answer my question."

"Maybe." mutters Kate, causing Edwina to quirk a perfectly arched eyebrow at her. Kate relents, whispering a "yes."

"I know he fucked up big time, but are you willing to give him another chance?"

"I am still hurt, but I love him. So much, Bon. And I do not want anyone but him. He texted me congratulating me about work and wants to celebrate and it just brought back so many emotions that I thought I dealt with. I don't know what to do."

Grabbing Kate's hand, "Didi, you deserve to be happy. If you want him, text him and accept the invite."

"Do you think it is a good idea?"

"You will never know unless you try. Plus, you could a free meal or drinks out of it. Tell him that I will kick his ass if he hurts you again."

Kate smiles, "I will let him know."

"Goodnight Didi. I will always support you and I love you very much."

"Goodnight Bon, I love you too." Kate says, kissing her sister's cheek.

Alone, she reaches her phone and presses her messages with Anthony.

Kate: Hey Anthony, is that congratulatory offer still on the table?

Not really happy with how this chapter was written, but I hope you guys enjoyed it! :)
