Chapter 1,057: Shadowlands, aftermath.
Here we are now, at the very epicenter of the Shadowlands, and the champions, and heroes who fought are here, and they all hear the words of the current/new arbiter Pelagos. "The flow of souls into the maw has ended. The Covenants and the Shadowlands, have been restored. Now, only one task remains..."
Then they see the one they hated ever since her crimes, steps forward. The Royal Defenders see her, and they recall what she has done, and hate her for it. The arbiter then speaks. "Sylvanas Windrunner, the time for your judgment is at hand."
Sylvanas goes closer, to know of her judgment, while seeing everyone despise her for all she has done, even though they did appreciate her help... She caused this to begin, and nearly brought all into ruin, but she sees the High Priestess of the Moon, is the one who is more angered than anyone.
"There can be no true justice, without compassion... and I can see that you're deeds bear the mark of the jailers influence. An influence which we failed to contain."
Sylvanas then speaks. "The jailer did not control me. My actions were mine alone, and I accept their consequences."
"Then you know in your heart, to whom you must answer..."
Sylvanas nods, and then she continues. "I accept to the judgment, of Tyrande Whisperwind."
All of them don't speak, and aren't shocked, after all... Sylvanas was the one who gave the order to attack Ashenvale and then set fire to Teldrassil, to slaughter the many Nightelves with no remorse, to insight the horde into a hated faction once again, and the murderer of Varok Saurfang, when she cheated in the traditions of Mak'Gora.
"Entrusting justice to your most fervent adversary." The Arbiter then looks to everyone. "Are there any gathered here, who object to this fate?" But none of them speak, and all are stern and serious. Kel'Thuzad wishes to speak, but he does not, and King Anduin seems, doubtful of this.
Seeing that no one else will speak about this, then it means there is no need to ask. "So be it."
They all see a really angry Tyrande approach Sylvanas, and with her war glaives in hand, but Sylvanas doesn't flinch nor move, and then the war glaives are close to her neck, and Tyrande growls. "What game do you play now, Banshee? The Sylvanas I hunted would never submit to the blade of her enemy."
Sylvanas knows where this is going and then she speaks. "Death would be a merciful end, Tyrande, and I do not expect your mercy."
Tyrande then moves her glaives away from Sylvanas. "Your newfound remorse might be genuine... but it will not erase all you have done. There will never be peace for you, Windrunner... until there is peace for the souls of your victims." she then walks away. "The prisoner is in my charge now, bring her!" Maiev and Shandris do as she says, and even Luna Frost, Kel'Thuzad and Pyrrha also help, to escorting Sylvanas to wherever Tyrande has plans.
They all follow them, to see where this goes.
(Later.)
We arrive to the place, where the entrance to the maw is seen, the Oribos station within this land, and here everyone is gathered, and Sylvanas finishes speaking her farewells, to her two sisters who remain alive, and with their own factions and kingdoms, the last two living bloodline of the Windrunner name.
Tyrande then looks to the main entrance to the maw, and then she speaks as Sylvanas is beside her. "Below lies the maw. An unjust fate, to which you have doomed so many and it will be there that your penance, begins."
Tyrande then looks to a back turned Sylvanas. "Every soul lose within its depths, betrayed or condemned. You shall find and set forth to the arbiter to be judged with compassion, all souls deserve." She then stands with the others, and they all look towards the former banshee queen.
"You will toil there, under Dori'Thur's watchful eye." The well-known and companion of Tyrande arrives, her Scout owl, and he also agrees to this. "Scouring in every darkened reach, until the final soul is free, and you are all that remains. For this is how you will bring renewal... To your victims, to all of your crimes, and my people."
Sylvanas nods, and then she speaks. "However long it shall take. It shall be done."
The owl scout known as Dori'Thur perches on Tyrande's right arm and she speaks to him. "Anduh-Falah-Dor, old friend. Watch her well." the owl nods, and then flies next to Sylvanas Windrunner.
Sylvanas then looks to the portal, but she takes one last final look, to her sisters and then with no second thought, she jumps to the portal, and Dori'Thur follows as well, for her judgment has come, and her punishment awaits her within the pits of the Maw.
Everyone is relieved of this madness, and that it is all over. Tyrande speaks with Maiev and Shandris, the sisters Windrunner also speak, after seeing that their forsakened sister was still there, and that they will miss her. Baine is speaking with Lor'themar, about visiting some old friends within this world, before returning back home, but Greymane doesn't seem right about this, because he sought out the death of Sylvanas, after what she did when she killed his son. Then he goes to speak, with King Anduin.
But in truth, Anduin Llane Wrynn will not return to the world of the Living, for he has to think about what has happened, ever since he was controlled by the Jailer, and so he will leave the Alliance under the watch of Torallion and Greymane, and the rest of the leaders of the Alliance factions.
Gyro looks to Luna Frost and the others. "You disobeyed my orders and, came to aid us. I am grateful for that, and I should be tempered that you all didn't listen to my orders. You all made the right judgment, Luna made the right judgment and I thank you for it. You are a true and fine warrior, and all of you have aided with valor and duty, and the true darkness and evil that happened long ago, is now silent and will never return. The battle for Azeroth, and the war in the Shadowlands, are over."
They're all happy and proud of what they have done, and then Gyro leaves them for the time being, he wishes to speak to the Arbiter about all that has happened, ever since what had went down with the Jailer, and he has a lot of questions about everything else. One of which, is the mechanical creation, underneath the Icecrown Glacier.
Luna then sees the former Lich King, High Lord Bolvar Fordragon go towards her, and also joining them to speak is a member of the Death Knights of the Ebon Blade, Dorian. Luna then speaks. "So, we're going to be gathering the Scourge, right?"
"You will not, but the knights of the Ebon Blade will" replied Bolvar. "The Frozen Throne, must never be touched again. It seems best, that we leave it be as a reminder of the horrors that have happened there, the evil that once lived and the mistakes that have been made. The knights of the Ebon blade will ensure it remains guarded."
"And we shall also be the one who will rally the remaining undead forces, and keep them from running rampant across Azeroth, and we appreciate that you stayed behind earlier, to ensure it would never fall into chaos" replied Death Knight Dorian. "We nearly have all the scourge back into the fold of order."
Luna nods. "It is best we do so, to ensure that the world of Azeroth doesn't fall victim to the destruction they could force. So, does this mean I won't be back here, one day?"
Kel'Thuzad goes to them and he speaks. "We are uncertain, and it is an unknown fate of what will happen next. But you must return to where you came from, and continue with what you do and defend your world. We are uncertain of what else will happen, but I shall aid the knights of the ebon blade, for there are other Lich's out there, who all seek to overthrow and revive their own scourge."
Anub'Arak speaks. "The Nerubians, and my forces will aid as well. I shall return to Royal Woods for when the objective is done, at least my allies and associates and crypt lords and queens will do their part, and subjugate the undead who dare to defy the true order, of the scourge."
Lincoln then asks. "And what of you, High Lord?"
Bolvar smirks. "I shall return to the scourge, when the time comes. For now, as Dorian spoke to me... My daughter, needs me the most, for I have missed so much ever since the day we sieged and defeated the previous, Lich King."
Luna Frost nods. "Very well them, but when you guys need my help, and the Runeblade under my control, then I will fight and assist, once again."
"And count the rest of us in" replied Lincoln, this makes Bolvar happy to know, that there are other people in other worlds, who all will do whatever it takes to save the realms, and ensure the evils from the past have been shattered, and put to justice. Still, Bolvar wonders what did the Jailer speak of before he died, something he knew and yet might be dangerous, which means who knows what mysteries remain in their universe.
Just then, Anduin goes towards Luna Frost, and Lincoln Spellman. "Excuse me, there is something I request from your both, if you have the time..."
(Within the Maw.)
We now see Sylvanas Windrunner, checking the souls of the fallen here, and sending them to the Arbiter, and she is still being watched over by Dori'Thur, but she stops when she senses someone is here as well, and she sighs. "Why are you here Anduin? Your kingdom, your friends are waiting for your return."
Anduin thinks about her words. "My friends... The ones whom I almost killed... The ones who believe that my hands are clean. But they do not feel clean."
Sylvanas stands up, but she doesn't look to him. "It is perilous to confuse what you are made to do with what you choose to do." she then turns around to face the young king.
"How can I not when it all blurs together?" Anduin then continues. "It was so horrific... and exhilarating and it sickens me to think that satisfaction... May have been mine."
Sylvanas now sees where he is going. "Ah, so that is why you have come. "You fear you might not be who you thought you were."
Anduin sighs and walks away to think about this. "I'm starting to wonder if I ever knew. For the first time in my life, I am afraid that if I call on the Light... It will not answer. If I've no trust in myself, how can I expect my kingdom to trust me? To put their fate in me... When mine has faltered." He then looks to Sylvanas.
Sylvanas then asks. "Must you bear that weight?"
Anduin answers. "A king, doesn't have a choice."
Sylvanas is feeling skeptic about his words. "No choice? And I thought you to be someone who believed in free will."
Anduin smirks, and then sighs. "I need time to think... About many things."
"Anduin..." He then looks to Sylvanas. "I have faced who I was, and accepted what I have done. Now, the work begins."
Anduin nods. "Yes, it does. Farewell, Sylvanas Windrunner." He then takes his leave from her. "Until our paths cross again."
Sylvanas also bids her farewell to him. "Farewell little Lion."
Seeing them from afar, are the ones who brought Anduin here. Luna, Lincoln and Gyro, on the backs of Sindragosa the Frostwyrm, Nel'Thorious the Nether Dragon, and Gyro... He is riding with Lincoln, then Lincoln asks. "So, what now?"
Gyro sighs. "We leave the king to his thoughts, and his choices."
Luna looks to them. "And what of his kingdom, and the people of the alliance?"
Gyro sighs. "We let them bear the truth, that they will need time, and one day... One day, the High King of the Alliance, shall return. We too should return, to where we belong..."
A/N: The shattered legacy from before is over, the Shadowlands is at peace, and Azeroth is freed from what could've been a disastrous thing, and this story is... Well, not over yet. There is still more to come, before I end this. I hope that you all enjoyed reading this end, to the World of Warcraft conflict, to this story.
