Brooklynn and Kenji could only stare in front of them toward their supposedly "back from the dead" seventh camp member with looks of surprise and shock as they couldn't believe that he was actually standing before them, looking almost like a completely new Ben and an almost fully grown Bumpy to pair up with this change.

Ben looked at the two then down at the fallen form of Hap before lightly tossing his branch to the ground with Bumpy groaning and grunting behind him.

"Uh…" Ben didn't know what to say to his fellow campers after not seeing them for months, so he just went with the usual. "hey." Though he didn't get much time to say it, because Kenji rushed forward and hugged the smaller teen, happy that he was alive and with them before putting Ben at arm's length and getting a good look at him.

"How? How? How?" Kenji asked repeatedly and shakily as tears welled up in his eyes. Though Ben didn't get any time to answer as Brooklynn hurriedly snatched him into a hug as well that he happily returned, just as he had done with Kenji.

* Hap groaning *

Though the small reunion had to be cut short as they finally remembered their situation from before all the happiness and hugging.

"Oh, right. We should probably deal with that." Ben said in his now slightly deeper tone of voice as he looked down at the semi-unconscious form of Hap with Brooklynn giving him a small nod of agreement.

So Ben grabbed some vines from the surrounding trees and began to tie them around Hap like it was a rope. Brooklynn and Kenji kinda just… stood there, as they still couldn't believe that Ben was actually there with them.

But Ben suddenly began speaking. "Fell off the monorail, got savaged by pteranodons, found Bumpy, survived in the jungle, defeated Toro, and then I overheard that fancy couple conspiring with this guy, Hap. So I figured you guys might need my help." He explained Kenji's previous question of "How?" and the two campers honestly just looked a bit slack-jawed as they listened to his slightly abridged version of what happened.

Kenji finally snapped out of it. "Oh, hey, I still have your dork pouch." Kenji happily said as he gestured to it but found nothing. "What?" Both he and Brooklynn gained a look of shock once they saw it wasn't on Kenji's waist, mostly because he always wore it since the incident.

"Oh, yeah. I snatched it off of you earlier." Ben said as he had the fanny pack on his waist and reached in to grab some hand sanitizer and applied it. "But thanks for keeping it safe." He said as he flashed a smile toward them before reaching down and picking up the stun prod that Hap was previously wielding and spinning it in his hands. "Could have used this while fighting ol' Toro, eh, Bumps?"

"Ben, focus." Brooklynn said making the boy stop his stave spinning. "The couple, what exactly did they say?"

"Not too much, but they're definitely up to something. Hap too." Ben said as he looked back at him before turning toward his fellow campers again. "I say we feed him to the Mosasaurus or the T. rex." But Brooklynn gave him a slight look of shock and horror at the suggestions.

"Or you could listen to me." Hap said in his gruff voice as he stood up from the ground, causing all three campers to let out gasps and turn to face him.

"You're awake?" Brooklynn asked.

"Of course I'm awake. You think I'm gonna be taken out by a bunch of kids?" Hap asked with a slightly raised eyebrow.

"Challenge accepted." Ben said as he pointed the stun prod at Hap and turned it on.

"Put that down, boy, before you get yourself hurt." Hap said as he took a few steps closer.

"Someone's getting hurt, old man, but it ain't me." Ben challenged but all he got from hap was a chuckle of amusement and a smirk as the much taller man looked down at him.

"Zap him, Ben!" Kenji shouted out.

"With pleasure." Was Ben's response.

"Bring it!" Hap shouted with a large toothy grin on his face as he was fully ready for this fight.

"Everybody, chill!" Brooklynn shouted as she stood between Hap and Ben, causing the teenager to turn off the stun prod. "Lower the weapon, Ben." She told him.

"You're protecting this guy? Whose side are you on, Brooklynn?" Ben asked as he pointed to her.

"I am on the "not electrocuting a human being" side, Ben." She told him.

"We don't have time for this!" Hap shouted. "You kids have to trust me. I'm trying to save your lives."

BACK AT MITCH AND TIFF'S CAMP

"Did you pack the camo net like I asked you to, babe?" Mitch asked as he rummaged through a small duffle bag.

Tiff rolled her eyes. "I already to you I did, babe." She said through grit teeth as she carried some boxes.

"It's just sometimes you forget, like that time with the-" Mitch started while shouldering a duffle bag.

But Tiff cut him off and shoved another duffle bag into him. "Night vision goggles. Two years ago. Let it go, babe."

"Uh, what's going on?" Darius suddenly asked as he, Sammy, and Yasmina all sat around the campfire and watched the two adults start packing up a shit load of gear. "I mean, do we really need all this to go look for Brooklynn, Kenji, and Hap?"

Mitch and Tiff shared a look with each other before Tiff gestured for him to handle it while she continued packing.

"We just wanna be prepared for whatever we might encounter along the way." Mitch said as he walked toward the trio and set down one of the bags. "After all, the boat will be here in three days. You wanna be rescued in one piece, don't you."

Yaz stood up from her seat with wide eyes before narrowing them in suspicion. "What? You said the boat would be here in two days."

"Two to three days. Right, babe?" Mitch asked his significant other as he placed the second bag on a table.

"Hundred percent. Mm-hmm." Tiff said. "Now grab that "stuff" we need from Hap's yurt." She told Mitch as she handed him another bag, which he grabbed and did what she asked.

"Um, I thought Hap said no one's allowed in his yurt." Sammy pointed out.

Tiff walked over and handed Sammy a chocolate bar. "All right. Why don't you guys have some chocolate? It's from France. And over there. Go on." She said as she gently pushed the teen away from their original spot to further away into the camp while giving a chuckle.

The three teens stopped about ten feet from where they were before starting to whisper to each other.

"I can't be the only one who thought that was weird." Yasmina whispered.

"What?" Darius asked.

"How do you forget what day the boat is coming back? Hell, they haven't even remotely mentioned going to try and find Cass, so I don't think they even care." Yaz whispered back to him in suspicion.

"Mhm, and they're being kinda shady about all that stuff they're packing." Sammy added to the conversation.

"You're both just as paranoid as Brooklynn." Darius stated.

"Paranoid, maybe. But it's better safe than sorry, Darius." Yasmina told him. "Cass isn't here right now, which means as the second part of that leadership, you have to look out for us."

"And Cass would definitely find this suspicious." Sammy backed Yaz up on the topic.

"Is Cass all you two think about?" Darius questioned with a raised eyebrow.

"No comment." Both Yaz and Sammy said plainly at the same time.

"Ugh, I get it, you two are on edge, especially since it's just us three right now." Darius let out a sigh. "Fine, I'll prove you both wrong, and then tomorrow I'll see about us going to find Cass."

Mitch and Tiff walked out of Hap's yurt carrying another duffle bag and a box before walking over to the long table and setting them down and turning toward the teens. Tiff waved and gave them a smile, which the campers returned in some capacity.

Darius let out another sigh. "Here's the plan." And he began to explain it to the two girls, once he was done, it was time to set it into action.

Meanwhile, Mitch and Tiff had been packing more of their supplies into their apparently dozens of duffle bags that they had brought, but Mitch had gotten done with his and began carrying it off somewhere else.

"Hey, Tiff!" Sammy loudly said as she walked up to the woman. "What's in that? Ooh, what's in that?" The teen pointed toward the bags and boxes that were on the table, just you know… kinda getting in the woman's way to distract her.

Mitch looked back to see Sammy and Tiff… "talking", before facing forward again and letting out a quiet gasp at seeing Yasmina stand before him, it was mostly a surprise considering the teen never approached him, let alone spoke directly to him.

Yasmina had struggled to find something to say to the man since you know, she doesn't like talking to people. But she pulled something out of Sammy's book. "Uh, favorite color, favorite food, favorite color of food? Go!" She fired off in rapid succession with mock enthusiasm.

Mitch looked at her for a moment as the questions finally registered in his head, which caused him to gain a confused expression. "What?" He asked incredulously as he had no idea what was going on.

"Question! Question!" Sammy loudly exclaimed. "What's that over there? Hey, Tiff!" She said in her typical hyperactive ADHD brain as she ran around the table causing Tiff to chase after her. "Could you explain what this is for me, here? What's that? What's that? Why does it smell like that? Tiff, I got a real quick question…"

But during this whole charade, Darius was sneaking off behind some of the many supplies that Mitch and Tiff had pulled out, before managing to sneak his way into the yurt they had seen them pull most of their stuff from. Darius walked over to a table on his left and picked up a coffee mug.

"Real suspicious." He said with a scoff before setting the mug down and walking over to a table on the right side of the yurt.

And what he saw caused him to stop in his tracks and let out a gasp. On that table were weapons. Knives, machetes, axes. Now normally Darius would've just assumed that they were for clearing any plant life that needed to be gotten rid of, but then he looked around the yurt and saw the other things. Bear traps, crossbows, hunting rifles. And lots of them.

"What?" Darius asked as he couldn't believe his eyes. Because even he knew, there was a difference between preparing to protect yourself from the dinosaurs, from preparing to actively hunt the dinosaurs. And right now, it was looking a lot like the latter.

But something caught Darius's attention, it was something big covered by a linen sheet on the far end of the yurt. And with Darius still being a highly curious person, as well as needing to check out anything suspicious, he walked toward it. Darius hesitantly grabbed the sheet and lifted it up only a bit, but that's all he needed to see before letting out a panicked scream and falling to the ground in fright.

What was under that sheet was the head of Ceratops, whether it be from a Triceratops or a Sinoceratops, Darius didn't care. There was the head of a dinosaur on that table, and judging by the size, it was more than likely a juvenile. The scared teen was panting heavily as he looked at it in horror.

Suddenly the yurts flap was pulled out of the way, showing that someone had come in, causing Darius to gasp. Because the person who entered was none other than Mitch.

"What you doing in here, D?" Mitch said lowly.

Darius slowly managed to stand up while keeping an eye on the older man. "You're not eco-tourists. You're-"

"-Big game hunters, yeah." Mitch cut him off before walking over to the second table and grabbing one of his knives. "Honestly, I'm glad you've seen this, Darius." He turned around and looked at the teen while handling the knife. "Friends shouldn't lie to each other."

"You said you got our distress beacon." Darius said as he backed up a few feet.

"Oh, yeah, no idea what that is, but we didn't want you asking questions." Mitch told him as he put the knife back on the table. "And, hey, it all ended up working out. Bought this ACU tablet off the black market. It was supposed to help us track the chipped dinos, but…" Mitch trailed off as he tossed the tablet to the teen.

Darius caught the tablet and made a few taps. "The grid's down." He finished the sentence as the large red "NO SIGNAL" symbol showed up.

"Uh-huh." Mitch grunted as he fiddled with one of the crossbows before putting it down. "And despite Hap coming highly recommended, he's been pretty useless at finding dinosaurs. He doesn't know half the stuff about them, or the island, that you do." Mitch said as he leaned toward Darius, having his face illuminated by the ACU tablet. "So, now you can help us." He said as he ruffled the teen's hair.

"How could you possibly think I'd help you kill dinosaurs? I thought you cared about them." Darius accused.

"I do." He said as he took the tablet back. "I've been waiting my whole life for this. Living, breathing dinosaurs, up close and personal?" Mitch said before turning toward the Ceratop's head. "But Isla Nublar is under UN quarantine. The dinosaurs, they've been abandoned, forgotten. We're the last people to ever see them." He turned around and looked at Darius. "I am trying to preserve the memory of Jurassic World." Before suddenly shouting. "Don't you get it? Thanks to us, these magnificent creatures will live on forever!"

"By mounting their heads on your wall!" Darius said as he once again took a step away from the adult.

Mitch let out a sigh before speaking normally again. "Oh, I'm disappointed. I really thought we understood each other, D." He grabbed Darius by the shoulder and led him outside. "But I'll make this easy for you." And once outside, Darius saw that Sammy and Yasmina were being held hostage by Tiff who had a stun prod.

"You help us bag the dinosaurs we want, and we'll take you and your friends home. You don't, and we leave you all here."

Sammy and Yaz shared a look of fear between themselves, while Sammy let out a whimper.

"Abandoned and forgotten, just like the dinos." Mitch said as he leaned down toward Darius's height. "So, Darius… what's it gonna be?"

WITH CASS

It had been a few hours since the self-designated protector of the campers had bandaged his wounds and promptly passed out from the pain, stress, and exhaustion that had come with being attacked and having to trek through the jungle for two hours with massive blood loss. It was now beginning to lean into the evening as the sun had begun to lower itself onto the horizon.

* hushed whispers *

The young adult tossed and turned in his sleep. He tried to ignore what he was hearing and feeling so that he could rest.

'…Getup…'

Cass groaned as he tried to ignore it, but the voice just got clearer and louder.

'…In danger…'

' "In danger"?' Cass thought to himself. 'Who the hell-'

'Save them…'

'Who is them?' Cass questioned in his sleep but got no answer.

'NOW!'

And just like that, Cass shot up from his position on the couch as that last word rang in his ears while he held his head. The only thing he could describe that sound to, or even the volume, was akin to putting a gun next to his ear and letting it go off. After some deep breaths and a few moments to let the ringing fade from his mind, Cass finally opened his eyes with a shaky sigh.

"What the fuck was that?" He asked himself as he rested his arms on his thighs and leaned back into the couch. He felt his jeans and just let out a sigh. They were still caked in his blood and he really needed to change clothes, if not for hygiene or making it harder for predators to find him, then so that others wouldn't freak out when they next saw him.

Cass stood up from the couch and reached into the tote bags that he had brought back with him from Main Street. "I'm glad I got myself some new clothes before getting attacked, great foresight me." He sarcastically told himself as he pulled out his stuff from the bag and went to the shower to get himself cleaned up the best he can and then change.

It took him a few minutes due to him trying to not upset his wounds any further, but after about ten minutes, Cass walked out no longer covered in his own blood and in his new clothes. A pair of black cargo pants that were tucked into black combat boots, and a dark heather gray t-shirt that hugged his physique but not tightly. He reached into the front pocket of his last pair of jeans and took out the knife that he had found and opened it to admire the tool… or weapon, what it needs to be used for. (For any of you wondering, the knife is a GW 4172, my search history now looks like a fucking serial killer's)

Cass closed it before slipping it into the front right pocket, you know… seeing as how he doesn't have a holster/sheathe…

"Wait… didn't I find some carabiners like… two weeks ago?" He asked himself before going over to one of the many storage compartments that they had made for camp. Lo and behold, Cass had found the carabiners and grabbed a skinnier carabiner made of steel and looped it through one of the holes at the bottom of the knife before clasping the carabiner to a belt loop on the right side of his waist, having the knife rest on his hip.

He clasped and unclasped the knife from the loop a few times just to make sure he could easily have it at the ready, and he could. "Alright, I should probably eat something… it's been what, 16 hours now?" Cass would've gone ahead to eat before something finally clicked in his mind.

"It's already evening and no one's come back yet, hell, I haven't even heard anything besides myself and that voi-" Cass stopped speaking the moment he noticed it, and honestly it kinda made his blood run cold the longer he looked at it.

Standing at the treeline of the jungle staring straight at him, given the height and general size and shape, it looked to be a little girl, probably about 7-8 years old, just… standing there. Staring at him. The child itself wasn't what creeped him out though, it was what she looked like.

Pale skin, just as white if not whiter than his own, ink-black hair that flowed to the girl's back and covered the majority of the left side of her face, barefoot and wearing a soft white lavender colored nightgown that was stained in a deep red that Cass was all too familiar with. Blood, her clothes were stained with her own blood. It looked as if she was stabbed three times in the left side of her chest and had her stomach sliced open, some blood even showed near her mouth and the left side of her face, but he couldn't see it all that well.

He had come to the conclusion that she too was another of his recent hallucinations, either that, or he was being haunted by the ghost of… of what? Ever since he saw the girl, it was like his brain was surrounded by a deep fog and the only things he could really even focus on were himself and the girl, like a lighthouse, she stood out in the fog and his best bet was to go toward her.

Cass said nothing as he went toward the ladder to climb down and go toward the figure, trying to keep an eye on her at all times so that she wouldn't disappear from him. He made it to the ground and began walking toward her, and yet the girl made no attempt at moving, if anything, she merely turned her head to keep looking at Cass. The closer Cass got to her, the more he got upset, it was like looking at a porcelain doll that had been murdered, but she was no doll… she was a child.

He stood about three feet in front of the girl and the two of them merely stared into each other's eyes. She was so… small compared to himself, just barely having the top of her head reached his stomach. And those eyes… they were so expressive yet so blank. If you could see the anger, the sadness… it was buried beneath layer after layer of childlike happiness, but even that was drowned out by the look of sheer emptiness that blankly looked back at him.

"I'm sorry." Cass softly said. Whether the girl was merely something his mind had conjured to fuck with him, or if a spirit had really come to greet him, it mattered not. No child should look like this, real or fake.

'…It's…okay…' She quietly let out in response after a few seconds.

"Mmn…" Cass lightly hummed back as he continued to take in the appearance of the child.

'…Come…on…' The girl softly commanded as she turned around and began walking deeper into the jungle.

Cass could only nod and followed a few feet behind the girl as she led him wherever she planned on taking him.

BACK IN THE JUNGLE

"Okay, start talking. Why were you-" Brooklynn began but was quickly cut off.

"Are these Windsor knots?" Hap asked as he sat on the ground and looked down at his bound wrist and arms. "Where'd you learn how to tie people up?"

"Hey! We're asking the questions." Brooklynn said to him.

"Yeah! Dude here has a dinosaur and he's not afraid to use her." Kenji told him while pointing at said dinosaur but all Bumpy did was eat the nearby plants, causing the teens to groan as their intimidation wasn't working because Hap just looked at them like they were stupid.

"I've got this." Ben confidently said as he stepped closer to Hap until he was maybe 2-3 feet in front of him, Hap on the other hand just looked bored out of his mind as he looked at the teen.

"Think you're tough? You don't know the meaning of tough." Ben said while lowering his voice to sound intimidating but if anyone looked at the kid for longer than 30 seconds, they'd know he himself is not all that intimidating. Ben pointed toward his upper left arm.

"See that?" Ben asked while Hap squinted his eyes to see anything. "Leech bite." Ben said.

"Whoa!" Kenji said in awe.

Hap just looked at the teen before letting out a breath as he couldn't believe he was having a competition right now, but he rotated his right arm and showed the teeth marks that scared his forearm, causing Ben's eyes to widen. "Gator bite."

Kenji let out a gasp as he and Brooklynn looked impressed.

"Sunburned for three days straight." Ben confidently said.

"Buried for a week in an avalanche!" Hap responded.

"Chased off a pack of Compies!" Ben yelled.

"Wrestled a pack of-" Hap started but was cut off.

"Punched a hammerhead in Hawaii! We are all impressive!" Brooklynn shouted

"I'm really wealthy." Kenji awkwardly said from the back, causing Brooklynn to facepalm.

"Okay, how exactly is chasing us through the jungle saving our lives? Plus, we heard you tell Mitch and Tiff you were going to "take care" of us." Brooklynn asked.

"I'm trying to, by getting you home. Look, I'm no angel, but once they said they were gonna leave you all here to die, well, I had to do something, didn't I?" Hap explained.

"Really?" Brooklynn asked as she and the others still didn't believe him.

"Look, what's important is getting you out of here." The older man said.

"I still don't buy it. Let's tie him to a tree and be done with him." Ben told them.

"We have a boat moored at the northwest dock." Hap revealed to them.

"There's a way off the island?" Kenji asked.

"You all said it was refueling." Brooklynn said.

"We lied." Hap plainly said as he hung his head in shame.

"Wow, that's supposed to make us believe you." Brooklynn sarcastically said.

"Listen!" Hap shouted, surprising the teens. "I scouted out some kind of garage near here when we first landed. We can take a vehicle, get to the dock, and prove I'm telling the truth."

Brooklynn contemplated his words.

"Please." Hap said as he looked at Brooklynn. "Believe me."

[][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][]

The three teens had moved a couple of yards away from Hap in order to further contemplate the words he said and to figure out their next move in as much privacy as they could get.

"He's lying. I can smell it on him." Ben whispered.

"Look, if he is telling the truth, Darius, Sammy, and Yaz are in big trouble. We have to trust him." Kenji told Brooklynn.

"You know what kept me alive out there, city boy?" Ben asked Kenji.

"City boy?" Kenji repeated questioningly.

"My instincts." Ben pointed the stun prod at the taller boy with each syllable but stopped after. "And they say, "Don't trust Hap.". I vote we go after our friends and leave him here." Ben did take note that they didn't mention that Cass was with them, but that was for later.

"You're the tiebreaker, B. What do we do?" Kenji asked Brooklynn as both boys looked at her for a response.

Brooklynn thought to herself for a few seconds before letting out a sigh. "Okay, here's what we're doing." She said before walking between the two and toward Hap.

"Kenji, Ben, and I are going to save our friends." She told him.

"Yes!" Ben cheered from behind her.

"And we're taking you with us." Brooklynn said to Hap.

"No! What? W-Why?" Ben questioned and complained.

"Because he might be telling the truth. Kenji for the win." Kenji celebrated with a fist pump.

"Then get these off me, and let's go!" Hap told her.

"Not so fast." Brooklynn told him.

[][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][]

And so they began making their way to the garage that Hap had supposedly found, some more willing to trust and believe him than others, but none of them trusted Hap enough to leave him unchecked. So the older man still had his arms and wrist bound by vines but was now being led around by a lead made of vines that were tied around his cuffs.

Hap raised his wrists to inspect the new bindings that he had and looked mildly impressed. "Well, at least she knows how to tie a knot." He said to himself which caused Brooklynn to just roll her eyes.

"I'm telling you, he's leading us into a trap." Ben said to Brooklynn as he matched her pace.

"Dude, please don't let Ben be right about you." Kenji said to Hap who just looked at him. "I can't start listening to a guy who eats bugs." And just as he said that Ben plucked a larva from a nearby leaf and ate it. Kenji could only shudder in disgust.

"This way, Bumpy. Allegedly." Ben said as he looked at Brooklynn before getting a groan in response as both he and his dino took the lead and began walking at a slightly faster pace.

"And he's talking to his dinosaur." Kenji said to himself before walking faster to catch up with Ben and Bumpy, leaving Hap and Brooklynn together, and there was a few moments of silence between the two as they weren't exactly friends.

"You, uh…" Hap started before taking a breath and restarting his sentence. "Hey, you really punch a shark?" He asked quietly.

Brooklynn turned around and answered him. "It was more of a flailing panicked punch. But, yeah, I did."

"Nice." Hap said with a small smile. "You and I-"

Brooklynn jerked him forward with a pull of the lead, effectively cutting off his sentence, before stopping and speaking. "Just so we're clear, Hap, we're not friends and I don't trust you."

Hap was silent for a few seconds before looking off to the side. "I wouldn't trust me either." He looked back at the girl. "But you can. And I'm gonna prove it to you." He confidently and genuinely said, making the girl question her slightly harsh words just moments before.

"Brooklynn, look!" Kenji exclaimed as they got to the treeline.

Said girl let out a gasp, and lo and behold, before them in a clearing in the jungle was the garage that Hap had told them about.

"Believe me now?" Hap questioned.

"An empty garage in the middle of nowhere proves nothing." Ben told him, as he still didn't believe the older man.

"Maybe the vehicles are inside. You know, like they're supposed to be." Kenji said plainly at the still hyper-distrusting teen.

But the five stepped out of the treeline and into the clearing as they made their way to the garage. But Bumpy halted and began bellowing, Ben turned around and ran toward her, trying to hush the ankylosaur and soothe her, but she kept bellowing and grunting.

* screeches *

Everyone except Hap let out gasps as they whipped their heads in the direction the noise came from, but they all rushed behind the far side of the garage that they were closest to.

* leaves rustling *

Brooklynn peaking around the corner and looked in the direction from which the noises came from. And stalking out of the treeline was none other than Chaos, Grim, and Limbo. All snarling and screeching as they walked into the clearing. Brooklynn quickly hid back behind the wall and began panting in fear.

"This is bad." Was all that she said.

WITH DARIUS AND THE OTHERS

Darius occasionally looked down at his field guide as he walked through the jungle, closely followed by Mitch and Tiff who still had Sammy and Yasmina held hostage. So the young leader had no other choice than to help the two big game hunters with their hunting.

"I know it wasn't easy, but you made the right choice, kid." Mitch said as he walked next to Darius and put a hand on his shoulder. "Thanks to you, we'll be done in no time."

Tiff let out a groan as she swatted away some mosquitoes that had begun to fly around her. "We better be. Oh, God!" She let out a grunt as she finally swatted enough for them to leave her alone. "I told you I never wanted kids. Now we have three of them and no guide."

"We don't need a guide, babe." Mitch said as he turned back to look at her. "We have Darius." He confidently told her before turning back to said boy. "And he is taking up to… drumroll, please."

"The watering hole." Darius said in a defeated tone of voice.

"A one-stop dino-hunting shop! This kid is something. Didn't I tell you this kid is something, babe?" Mitch said with joy in his voice.

Sammy coughed into her hand to get Yaz's attention, luckily the girl looked her way. Sammy then quickly darted her eyes at and subtly pointed at the athletic girl's ankle. Yaz gave her a look of questioning before understanding what she wanted and giving a small, almost unnoticeable nod. They walked a few more feet before Yaz fell to the ground and let out a groan of pain as she hissed and held her ankle.

"What?" Tiff asked as she almost tripped over the girl, causing the group to come to halt.

"My ankle hurts, I need a break." Yasmina said to her.

"Just for a little bit, she injured it before y'all found us and all this walking isn't good for it. She can't keep going this fast." Sammy told the woman, hoping she'd believe the lie.

"Fine. It's exhausting keeping these bugs away." Tiff complained as she was once again being pestered by mosquitoes. "Why are they only attacking me?" She whined as Mitch came over to help her.

Darius walked over to where Sammy and Yaz were "resting up" and the three began whispering to each other.

"We can't just go along with this. We have to do something." Yasmina said to Darius.

"We only have two choices. Help them and get back to our families, or don't and stay trapped here." Darius told her.

"What's option C?" Sammy asked.

"There is no option C! We just have to…" Darius cut himself off and took a deep breath. "Look, both I and Cass promised to get us all back home, no matter what it takes. But he's not here right now, so I'm the one who's gotta do it. Are you two really gonna question what Cass wants?" Darius asked knowing that they wholeheartedly trusted the young adult, as did he.

"But…" Yaz was about to speak but got cut off.

Mitch placed a hand on Darius's shoulder and hushed their whispers.

"Babe." Mitch said quietly. "You hear that?"

AT THE GARAGE

* dinosaurs snarling and screeching *

Chaos, Grim, and Limbo stalked forward into the clearing as they sniffed the air and ground for their potential prey. Brooklynn, Hap, Kenji, Ben, and Bumpy were all hiding around the corner of the garage, with the first two sharing a look of worry about the situation.

But Bumpy kept grunting in a slight panic and worry, because as strong as she may be, she's only one Ankylosaurus, and there are three Baryonyx, so yeah, there's a reason for her to be afraid. But Ben kept trying to shush her so that they wouldn't be caught, but luck was not on their side today, because with the next grunt, the three Baryonyx clearly heard her and began to stalk ever closer toward their prey.

Kenji let out a gasp as he heard the Baryonyx resume their snarls and screeches, he turned around and ran toward the side door that was on the garage, with the others soon following his lead and backing away from the corner. He tried to pull the doors open, but try as he may, the red indicators on the handles showed they were locked. Brooklynn slowly backed up closer and closer to the door until…

* beep *

The door that Kenji was pulling on came flying open. "H-how did you…" Kenji stuttered out in questioning.

Brooklynn reached into her pocket that was closest to the door and pulled out the blank key card. "The key card I found in Wu's lab." She said in amazement.

"Go! Go! Go!" Ben quietly shouted at them as he led Bumpy toward the double doors, as she let out another grunt.

The Baryonyx finally caught a solid scent of their prey and let out screeches before running toward the corner that the group was previously hiding, but right before they got there, everyone had made it inside the garage and Ben closed the doors. The carnivorous trio peeked around the corner but saw nothing, causing them to growl and get back to searching.

And within the safety of the garage, the group could finally catch their breath while Brooklynn took a couple more steps into the room and began looking around, but not seeing much of anything of interest in the dark garage.

"Why would birthday guy have a key to this place?" Brooklynn asked out loud before pulling out the key card from her pocket again. "Unless it's a master key. It could open something in Wu's lab." She said before turning around and spotting the telltale sign of medical supplies by seeing the symbol of the snake coiled around a staff on the side of a small indoor shed, and right next to the sign was another keypad. "It could open everything!" Brooklynn shouted in excitement before rushing over to the shed.

"Here we go again." Kenji sarcastically said.

"Quiet." Hap told him, making the teenager stand up straight. "She's the only one of you that has any sense at all."

* distant screeching *

Kenji let out another gasp as he and Hap looked around trying to decipher which direction the noise came from, but it was almost impossible to do.

"If I'm right, it should open this door, too." Brooklynn said as she looked at the locked door on the medical shed and the keypad that was right beside it.

* beep *

* door opening *

But sadly she was wrong because the door to the shed was not the door that opened. It was the main door to the garage that had opened with the activation of the key card. Bumpy let out a bellow as both she and Ben got ready to possibly combat the approaching dinos.

"Brooklynn!" Kenji panickedly shouted.

"Shut the door!" Hap had yelled.

But try as she may, and trust me she tried, no matter what she did the door would not stop opening. Chaos, Grim, and Limbo all let out screeches as they turned toward the opening door.

"How do we get out of here?" Ben shouted as he turned to look back at the others.

"There!" Hap yelled as he spotted a motorcycle with a sidecar further into the garage.

Brooklynn was the first to run over to the vehicle while hopping onto it and putting on a helmet that was conveniently left right next to the motorcycle. "We'd need some kind of distraction." She says this because, at the moment, the three Baryonyx are all charging toward the garage from the patch of the jungle they had wandered off to.

Ben and Bumpy took a few steps back as they saw the ever-approaching danger, but Ben spotted a large group of gray barrels and seeing as how this is a garage, Ben had a pretty good idea what could be in them. So with that, Ben set his plan into motion while everyone got ready.

Chaos, Grim, and Limbo had all made it into the clearing just as Brooklynn had started the motorcycle (with Kenji sitting behind her holding the stun prod and Hap sitting in the sidecar, both wearing helmets, cause safety and whatnot) and Ben rode Bumpy out of the garage. And just as the group crossed the threshold of the garage door, the entire building was engulfed with bright light and fire as Ben rigged up a fucking explosive.

But with the bright light blinding the carnivores and the sudden combustion knocking them to the ground for a moment, it gave the group a few seconds to take off before the Baryonyx trio got back up with screeches and soon gave chase.

"I'll draw a couple this way." Ben said to the others as he steered Bumpy to the right in order to separate the dinosaurs that were chasing them.

Hap looked back and took notice. "No good. We've still got all three." And sure enough, he was right. All three Baryonyx were still packed together chasing down the motorcycle.

"Remember the good old days when we'd only piss off one dinosaur at a time?" Kenji whined.

"We'll lose them in the tall grass!" Brooklynn shouted because sure enough, there was a patch of tall grass ahead of them. Sadly, the tall grass only lasted for about six feet before it was once again an open field.

"Any other ideas?" Kenji non-helpfully asks as he checks behind them just to see the trio burst from the grass, causing both him and Brooklynn to shriek in fear before they turned around. "Look out!" He shouted because right in front of them was a massive rock.

Now they were no longer in an open field, but in a natural maze-like setting with large rocks and boulders creating the walls and turning points. Brooklynn managed to drive between two rocks, causing two of the carnivores to slam into each other, stalling them for just a second, before they let out roars and began the chase once again.

Brooklynn was having a slightly difficult time controlling the bike as she kept riding over bumps due to the narrow pathways.

"That's the clutch! Brake with your foot! Foot!" Hap yelled at the girl.

And Brooklynn listened to the older man and slammed her foot down on the clutch as she turned left, taking a sharp turn around one of the large rocks and going down a different path, as well as narrowly dodging getting bit by one of the Baryonyx.

"Right! Watch out!" Hap yelled out as he instructed Brooklynn to turn.

But speaking of Baryonyx, they caught up a lot quicker than they were comfortable with. Jumping onto and between rocks, using them as pads for them to launch themselves forward to close some of the distance created.

"They can't do that. How'd they learn to do that?" Kenji asked incredulously as he looked behind them and saw the tricks the Baryonyx were pulling off to build up speed.

One of them managed to get close enough to the motorcycle, but Hap turned in his seat and kicked it in the face, causing the dinosaur to stumble and lose some of the distance it had made. But this group of dinos were not willing to give up the chase, and soon, all three were side-by-side again as they sprinted after the vehicle that held what they deemed food.

Brooklynn took note of this and sped up as much as possible given the terrain and weight in and on the bike.

Hap looked over and saw Kenji whimpering as he held onto Brooklynn for dear life before looking down at his bindings. "Untie me! I can help!" He shouted, and with the ever-approaching danger that was the Baryonyxes, they didn't have much choice.

"Do it, Kenji." Brooklynn told the cowering teen and said teen did as he was told, allowing the older man to finally be free from his bindings.

Hap reached over and grabbed the stun prod from Kenji. "Try and Keep it steady." He told Brooklynn as he turned on the weapon and jabbed it into the open mouth of one of the carnivores, causing it to tumble to the ground in pain. Hap turned back towards Brooklynn and noticed another Baryonyx try to run up on her left side, so he thrust the stun prod right in front of Brooklynn's face and shocked a second Baryonyx. But every time one fell down, the last one just got right back up.

Brooklynn turned the motorcycle to dodge the giant rocks all the while Hap defended them the best he could, either with a jab from the stun prod or a kick to the face, but sadly, they still weren't able to shake the Baryonyxes off their trail.

"This thing isn't fast enough! No way we're gonna make it!" Brooklynn shouted with worry evident in her voice.

Hap looked at the kids and then back at the approaching danger, seeing them screech and steadily catch up, inch by inch. "Not all of us." He said. "You kids…" Hap raised the stun prod. "live a good, long life!" He shouted as he slammed the stun prod between the motorcycle and the sidecar and snapped off the latch connecting them.

"Hap!" Brooklynn shouted as she saw his sidecar fall behind before seeing him jump out of it and tumble to the ground before landing on his feet.

"Come on!" Hap yelled at the Baryonyxes, but one still tried to go after the campers. "Hey!" He called out as he smacked it in the face with the stun prod. "The party's over here!"

* roaring *

Hap had gathered the attention of all three Baryonyx as they circled the lone man while occasionally trying to take snaps at him, but he defended himself with his current weapon. And with one last look, he saw the kids make their way to safety, but not before looking back at him one last time. Hap fought until his last breath to give the campers as much time as they needed.

* distant screeching *

"Hap, he…" Kenji couldn't even finish the sentence.

"He took care of us… just like he said he would." Brooklynn told him sadly as she drove them away.

WITH CASS

It had been close to two hours now since Cass had begun to follow the hallucination before him, the evening sun had set and the night sky had taken place of what was once day. The moon shone an almost eerie yet beautiful light through the trees.

Both the young adult and the seemingly undead child hadn't spoken a single word since they had started their journey into the jungle. One opts to just lead the other to their intended destination, and the other merely follows after them while racking their brain for information and asking themselves a multitude of questions.

'Why did I even follow her? Really, me? Yeah, sure, let's just follow this apparition of a murdered child. That's some serious white people shit, brain.' Cass thought to himself. 'What if I'm just hallucinating? Like with the giggling from earlier? Is it the trauma? The stress? Fuck, I need therapy.' The young adult let out a barely audible sigh.

'Okay, but what if I'm being haunted? She doesn't exactly look capable of being physically touched, or even alive for that matter… so I guess that's on the table? But who would even haunt me? There's not really any dead connected to me besides… besides… besides fucking who? Every time I try to go down that train of thought, my mind goes blank and I can't think of anything.' Cass took a deep breath.

'Whatever or whoever she is, she doesn't seem malicious nor hostile in the slightest. Just kinda… there. Watching. But here I am following her towards… whatever.'

A few more moments passed between the two in silence, until the girl finally said something.

'…Almost…there…' She softly spoke as she continued her steady pace that she maintained through the who trek.

"Almost where?" Cass had asked after a few seconds.

'…Where you…need to be…' The girl cryptically told him.

"I see…" He plainly responded as he had no fucking clue what she meant by that.

But after a few more minutes of walking into the jungle, the girl finally stopped with Cass doing the same next to her. The girl lifted her right arm and pointed out into the jungle they were in.

'…There…' Was all she said.

Cass looked down at the girl to his left before following where she was pointing and immediately spotted it… or should I say them? Deeper into the jungle, maybe 100-150 feet ahead of them were three figures sprinting across his vision. Two of them he was familiar with, but the third one… not so much, especially since that one held a gun and was chasing after the other two.

Cass looked down to his left and noticed the girl was no longer there, he figured he was on his own. But Cass wasn't one to stand idly by while the people he cared for were in danger. With his mind made up, the young adult unclipped his knife from its carabiner and began sprinting after them as fast as he could.

WITH DARIUS'S GROUP

* approaching heavy footsteps *

Mitch and Tiff stood at the ready as they heard the booming footsteps that headed their way. Darius, Sammy, and Yaz were sitting on the ground behind them as they two looked out for the footsteps. But the two big game hunters weren't gonna let this opportunity pass them up, so they knelt down and opened up the cases that they had brought with them, and pulled out their rifles, causing Darius to gasp, and the campers to look at them in slight worry and fear.

* faint snarling *

Mitch cocked his rifle and aimed down the scope in hopes of spotting the dinosaur that was within the area, and after a few seconds he spotted the beast slowly walking through the jungle, and its rows of spinal plates were a dead giveaway of what it was. The older man let out a gasp as he lowered his weapon.

"Oh, no." Darius whispered.

The dinosaur stepped into a small clearing between the trees and showed itself to be a Stegosaurus, who let out a bellow before continuing its movements through the jungle.

"Perfect. Look at those plates." Tiff said in wonder.

"She's beautiful, isn't she, babe?" Mitch asked. "Just stay clear of its thagomizer."

"What?" Tiff quietly asked as she had never even heard of that word.

"The pointy spikes on its tail, eh, bud?" Mitch said as he wrapped an arm around Darius's shoulders.

"Whatever. Just take the shot before it gets away." Tiff told him while aiming her rifle.

"Don't worry, it won't feel a thing." Mitch told Darius as he moved away from the teen and also took aim at the Stegosaurus. A few seconds had passed as both Mitch and Tiff adjusted their zoom on their scopes, but finally, they had a shot lined up since the dinosaur raised its head after eating, and right as Mitch was about to pull the trigger…

* whistling *

The loud sound of the whistle startled Mitch, causing him to let out a gasp as he jerked the weapon upwards, missing his shot and blowing off a branch from a tree that was right next to the Stegosaurus. And with the sound of the whistle and the gunshot, the Stego turned around and let out a roar before charging toward the group.

Both Mitch and Tiff let out shrieks of terror as the dinosaur headed their way, with them diving off to the right and the campers running toward the left. The Stegosaurus stopped in the middle and slammed its tall into a nearby tree, causing chunks of bark and wood to fly everywhere.

Darius, Sammy, and Yasmina backed away from the raging Stego and began running from it.

"You!" Mitch yelled before noticing the Stegosaurus preparing to slam its tail down on top of them, causing him to gasp as both he and Tiff had to dodge out of the way.

But soon the dinosaur chased after the campers while trying to stomp on them with its front legs. Tiff had gotten in front of them and made an attempt to grab them, but the teens just took a sharp left, causing the Stego to attempt to crush Tiff instead, but she managed to back away just in time.

The raging dinosaur spun itself in an attempt to smack one of them with its tail but ended up just blasting it into a tree again, sending more debris and shrapnel flying around. The campers managed to get away, and with that, the Stegosaurus let out another roar before stomping its way back to where it came from.

The three campers were all panting as they ran through the jungle before suddenly being stopped as a case was thrown at Sammy, knocking the girl to the ground and taking we air from her lungs, both Yaz and Darius had fallen to the ground in their bodies natural reaction to trying to dodge it.

Tiff soon came up behind them and grabbed Yasmina by the arm and held her in place as the athletic girl tried to go to her friend. And Mitch rushed up to Darius and roughly grabbed him by the arm and dragged him toward the others.

"Get off me!" Darius yelled out before reaching into his journal. The young leader managed to shrug off Mitch's grip before pulling something out of his book and crumpling it up. Though the older man just once more grabbed his arm and dragged him toward the others.

"I told you they were trouble." Tiff said to her husband.

"Not the time, babe!" Mitch yelled at her.

Suddenly Darius shoved Tiff as hard as he could, causing the woman to let go of Yaz and fall to the ground. Darius grabbed Yaz's wrist and placed the crumpled piece of paper in her hand.

"Go!" Darius yelled to her as he grabbed onto Mitch and tried to take him to the ground.

And not one to ask questions, Yasmina began running but was tripped by Tiff who grabbed her ankle from the ground.

"You little…" Tiff didn't get to finish her sentence as Sammy ran up to her and kicked her in the side of the head. Sammy grabbed Yaz and helped her back up to her feet with the two of them running off into the jungle. "That bitch!" Tiff grunted out as she held the side of her head.

"I trusted you, Darius, and you betrayed me. You had a simple choice, and you chose to save dinosaurs over your friends." Mitch said to the only remaining teen they had.

"No, I didn't. I chose option C." Darius told him.

"The hell is that supposed to mean?" Mitch asked him.

"It doesn't matter." Tiff said as she took the stun prod from Mitch and turned it on. "He's still taking us to the watering whole. Because now, I'm in charge. So go chase those two down, bring one back if you can…"

"What about the other one?" Mitch asked.

"Kill them, I think that'll motivate this one to actually start complying." Tiff said to him.

Mitch could only give a delayed nod before rushing off after the girls.

WITH THE GIRLS

They had been running for a few minutes by now, and they had hoped they would be able to get away, but as luck would have it. Mitch managed to catch up to them fairly easily, seeing as how Sammy wasn't exactly in perfect condition after getting some bruised ribs and all the air knocked out of her lungs a few minutes ago, and with Yasmina not wanting to leave her behind, they moved a slower pace than they would have liked.

"If you know what's good for you and your friends, you'll stop and come back with me!" Mitch yelled out at the two as he slowly caught up with them. But the girls weren't listening to him, they just wanted to get as far away as possible.

"Don't you get it? Darius chose to save dinosaurs over you two and your other friends, you're all gonna die here!" Mitch told them. Yasmina and Sammy just tried to ignore what he was saying and kept focusing on running.

"God damn it! I said stop!" Mitch yelled out and fired a warning shot.

The loud bang startled the girls, causing them to close their eyes for a brief second at the sound, but that was all that was needed for them to mess up, and in that split second of them not paying attention, they tripped over one of the roots of a tree and tumbled to the ground.

And by the time the two managed to catch their breath and began to get up, Mitch was already standing a few feet away with his rifle pointed at them.

"Why did you have to go and do that, huh? You all just threw away your only chance of getting off this island, and for what? To save some dinosaurs?" Mitch asked them incredulously as he genuinely didn't understand why they would do that.

"Now both of you get up and come with me, or else I'm gonna have to do something neither one of us what to happen." Mitch threatened as he pulled his bolt handle back and loaded another bullet into the chamber.

"There's no way we're coming back with you." Yasmina finally said something after regaining her breath while looking at him defiantly.

"And we're gonna find a way to get Darius back, and stop you from killing any of the dinosaurs." Sammy told him as she was right beside Yaz.

Mitch was silent for a few seconds as a frown came to his face, while he steeled his nerves for what he was about to do. "You shouldn't have chosen that." He said as he moved his finger towards the trigger.

* rapidly approaching footsteps *

Mitch turned around to see what was making that sound, only to immediately have a hand around his throat and a knife between his ribs, causing him to drop his rifle to the ground.

"And you shouldn't have threatened them." Cass growled out as he lifted the man up off the ground by his neck. The young adult increased his grip on his throat, effectively cutting off his air supply. He twisted the knife inside of the man, causing him to cry out in pain.

Mitch tried to stop his attacker by removing his hand from his throat or even getting the knife out of him. But he just wasn't even close to being physically strong enough to stop him.

Cass pulled the knife out of the man before jabbing it back into him again and again, over and over. With almost six inches of steel piercing his left lung and occasionally entering his heart, Mitch's body soon became slack as he finally died.

Blood leaking from his mouth and from his multiple stab wounds, all that was really left of him was the look of absolute fear. Cass pulled his knife out of his body and dropped his limp corpse to the ground, and all he could do was stare at it in… disappointment.

'I didn't want to do this… but I'm not letting any more of my loved ones die due to someone else's selfishness. Not again…' Cass thought to himself before crouching and wiping the blood from his knife and hands onto the ground, and once he was done, he closed the knife and clipped it back onto his waist.

Cass finally looked up and saw Sammy and Yaz staring at him in wide-eyed horror and worry, which caused the oldest camper to frown as he closed his eyes. 'Great… way to fuck up everything, Cass. Now they're scared of you…' He opened his eyes and stood up before taking a few steps toward the girls until he was right in front of them and knelt before them.

Cass offered them a gentle smile and spoke softly to them. "I'm sorry you girls had to see that… If only I had gotten to you sooner then maybe-"

But the older teen got cut off as he was suddenly hugged by the two girls as hard as they could, with both of them crying into him, using his shirt to absorb their tears. Cass sat there for a moment with wide eyes as he wasn't expecting this reaction, but he quickly regained his composure, wrapped his arms around their backs, and held them.

"It's okay… I'm right here." Cass told them as he just held the two girls for as long as they needed to be in his arms. But after a few minutes, they both finally calmed down and wiped their faces of any remaining tears that they may have had while slowly and reluctantly sliding out of the comforting hold of their savior.

"We… We thought he was gonna kill us…" Yasmina managed to say as she held onto Cass's right forearm. 'What's with the bandages..?' She thought to herself.

"We were so scared… if you wouldn't have shown up.. and…" Sammy trailed off as she stared into her lap.

"Hey…" Cass gently called to them as he placed his hands on their cheeks, causing them to look at him. "As long as I draw breath, I will never allow anyone to harm you, I promised, remember?" He told them as he used his thumbs to wipe away some stray tears that were building up.

Both girls nodded their heads as they grabbed his respective hand and held it.

"Good. Now let's get you two somewhere else so that you can fill me in on what's going on, alright?" Cass asked as he stood up and brought the girls up with him.

"Alright." Sammy and Yasmina said at the same time.

Cass walked back over to Mitch's dead body and grabbed his rifle. 'Might as well use grab this, never know when I'll need it.' He thought to himself before looking at the corpse again. The oldest camper just let out a sigh before he shouldered the rifle and walked back over to the girls.

"Ready?" Cass asked them.

"Yeah." Sammy responded to him as both she and Yaz closely followed behind him.

They had been walking through the jungle for nearly five minutes now before Yasmina finally asked him.

"Hey, Cass?" She quietly spoke.

"Yes, Yaz?" Said boy responded.

"What's with the bandages..? And the new clothes?" She asked as she has more or less been taking in his appearance and presence ever since he rescued them.

"Ah, those. I'll tell you and the others when we get back to camp after this is all said and done, okay?" Cass looked over his shoulder and offered her a smile. "And don't you worry, I got you something too."

Yaz looked at him for a moment before giving him a smile as well. "Okay."

* motorcycle engine revs *

Cass immediately stopped in place and made sure that both Sammy and Yasmina were behind him as the vehicle slid to a stop in front of them. And once all the dirt settled, they saw that it was Brooklynn and Kenji on the motorcycle.

"Cass?" Kenji yelled out as he was the first person they saw until both Sammy and Yasmina stepped out from behind him. Brooklynn and Kenji rushed over to the trio.

"We've got big news!" Brooklynn told them.

"Yeah, you're not gonna believe-" Kenji had begun speaking.

"Tiff has him." Yasmina told them. "Darius is leading her to the watering hole so she can kill the dinosaurs there."

"Darius would never do that." Kenji told her.

"And what about Mitch?" Brooklynn asked.

"He's…" Sammy began but a hand on the shoulder cut her off.

"He's unconscious and tied to a tree. I took his gun for safe measure." Cass told them.

"Alright, that's good." Brooklynn told him.

Yasmina finally remembered the piece of paper that Darius had given her, so she pulled it out and unfolded it.

"You're right, he's leading her here." Yaz told them as she showed the piece of paper to be a map with a mark in a very specific place.

I hope you all enjoyed reading this chapter as much as I enjoyed writing it. And I told you things would get interesting, didn't I? You didn't exactly expect Cass to murder Mitch, now did you? Haha, it's gonna make righting the next two chapters kinda difficult, but I'll find a way to work around it.

Anyway, I hope you all continue supporting this story, so I can continue making it. I will be starting the next chapter soon, have a good day/night everyone.
