"I still can't believe the summer sun celebration is being held in Canterlot again," Acid says excitedly as Film, Dox and Acid walk out of the apartment building.
"How long has it been?" Film asks.
"10 years I think," Acid replies with a shrug. "It doesn't matter, imagine all the fun games, good food, and other stuff they are selling," Acid says with a giddy smile.
"Does he always get this excited for it?" Dox asks, looking up at the Film.
"It's only been here once since we were born, so ya, every time," Film replies, looking down at the little changeling in between him and Acid. Acid rolls his eyes at Film's remake.
"Sorry I get excited for the longest and best day in the year,"
"You're only excited because you don't have to work," Film shoots back, looking at Acid with a playful smirk.
"Maybe," Acid replies with a playful smile of his own. "I just can't wait to show you all the cool things ponies set up for this day," Acid says, looking down at Dox.
"What's the point of the summer sun celebration?" Dox asks, tilting his head to the side as he looks up at Acid.
"It used to celebrate Celestia's triumph over NightMare Moon, but now it's a symbol of unity since NightMare was turned back into Luna," Acid explains as the group walk along the road.
"Kind of like the Great Cross Equestrian race the peguisi do," Film replies.
"Kind of, but with more emphasis on other races," Acid retorts back. Film rolls his eyes as Bold and Blood Moon walk up to them.
"Hey you two," Bold greats as he walks up beside Film.
"How has my little Flask been?" Moon asks, wrapping an arm around his back.
"I've been doing good, how about you?" Acid replies, looking up at the Moon.
"I'm doing ok," Moon replies.
"Does anyone have a plan for today?" Bold asks.
"Acid does," Film, Moon, and Dox reply all at the same time. Bold recoils a bit as he blinks in slight confusion before looking down at Acid. Acid smiles and blushes before scratching the back of his head.
"He's been planning for this day since he heard from Celestia it was going to be here this year," Film says as Bold turns to look at him.
"I just like being prepared," Acid retorts back at Film, getting his attention.
"You don't have to go over it every night," Moon replies in a deadpanned voice.
"Am I really that bad?" Acid asks, looking over at the Moon.
"Sometimes you can be a bit.." Moon starts as she tries to find a word that wouldn't hurt him.
"Eritating?" Film speaks up.
"Repetitive?" Moon says.
"Short?" Bold buts in. The group looks at Bold with a look of disgust and confusion. "What?" Bold shrugs. "I'm not wrong,"
"Technically not," Acid agrees. "I am the shortest of the group,"
"Except me," Dox bursts in.
"Oh, sorry, forgot about you Dox," Acid says before messing up the green hair on his head.
"Stop!" Dox says as he tries to swat away Acid's hoof. Acid and Film laugh at his misfortune as Bold rolls his eyes and Moon shakes her head with a smile. Acid removes his hoof as the group comes upon the festival on the main street of Canterlot. Roaming around from booth to booth are crowds of ponies. Vendors shouting out their goods as ponies walk by.
"Some things never change," Film says with a smile. Dox looks around as his ears flop against his head. He backs up against Acid's body as he tries to shrink away. Acid gently wraps his arm around Dox's back, scaring the little changeling into letting out a little squeak. He looks up at Acid with fear in his eyes.
Acid smiles down at Dox before saying, "Don't worry, I'm right here," Acid nuggets Dox's muzzle with his own. Dox smiles as Acid straightens up. He looks around the area before spotting a familiar face. "There she is," Acid wispears as he gids Dox over to a booth. The others look at eachother and shrug before following Acid.
Acid stops in front of a booth with glass milk bottles set up in multiple pyramids. Standing at the booth is a green pegasus pony mare with long orange hair that is tied up in a ponytail with light orange highlights. Her soft blue eyes are lightly weathering with age as wrinkles are starting to form on her face. The others walk up to the booth as Film's eyes light up and a smile creeps onto his face. "Sherbert, great to see you again at the festival," Acid says cheerfully as Dox shrinks into Acid's side.
"Well I'll be, it's nice to see you, Acid," Sherbert greats in a heavy Scottish accent.
"It's great to see you too," Acid responds as Film happily walks up beside Acid.
"That must be your brother Film?"
"It's been too long," Film responds.
"And who is this little guy?" She asks, looking down at Dox, who tries to shrink into Acid's body.
"He's a friendly changeling from another hive I've adopted," Acid explains. "His name is Dox,"
"Not to judge, but what's with the dragon like scales for skin?" She asks Acid.
"We think it has to do with where his hive used to live before he ended up in Canterlot castle," Acid replies.
"What's up with the old mare?" Bold asks as he walks up to Film.
"That old mare is a very kind mare who has been here every time the festival is here," Film shoots back at Bold.
"Wow, I didn't mean anything by old," Bold responds to Film as Moon walks up beside Dox. "If anything, age has done you some good," Bold says, turning to Sherbert.
"Thanks," She smiles at the compliment before asking, "So who are you?"
"Bold Action," Bold says.
"He's my stallion," Film says with a smile. Bold shakes his head and chuckles to himself.
"More like you're my stallion," He says as he wraps an arm around Film and points a hoof at him.
"No matter what, that's great to hear," Sherbert says before turning to the Moon. "And who's this beautiful young bat pony?"
"Blood Moon," Moon says, suppressing a smile as her face blushes a bit. "Thanks for the compliment,"
"No need to thank me," Sherbert responds before asking, "Is Acid your stallion?"
"As of right now he is," Moon responds as she and Acid make eye contact and smile.
"It's great you two have found love and all, but are you going to play or just hold up the line?" Sherbert asks with a little smile.
"There is never a line for this booth," Film responds as Acid places a group of bits on the table.
"Five for each of us," Acid says with a smile.
"20 balls coming right up," Sherbert responds as she turns around and starts picking up little red balls in a box behind her. The group lines up with a stack of bottles each, except Acid, who was with Dox. Sherbert evenly distributed the balls among the group.
"Your goal is to throw the ball at the tower of milk bottles and knock them down to get a prize," Acid explains to Dox as the others start throwing. Moon knocking them down on the first try. Film misses as Bold clips the top bottle off the tower.
"Nice throw Moon," Sherbert says as she digs through her box of stuffed toys. "Are you in the guard?"
"Caption of the Bat ponies," Moon replies as Sherbert turns around with a luna plushie.
"This is a bit ironic then," Sherbert says as she hands over the little Luna plushie.
"Ok, that's cute," Moon says as she looks over the little plushy.
"Like this?" Dox asks as he raises his hoof behind his head with the ball on top.
"Yep," Acid says before grabbing a ball and holding it behind his head too. "And just follow through," Acid says as he throws his ball. The ball lands on the ground just in front of the stack on the table. "Just hit the bottles,"
"With that throw, I don't think you'll be winning anything," Bold says as Film throws a ball.
"Not like you have hit any yourself," Acid shoots back as Dox throws his ball. The ball hits the side of one of the middle bottles and knocks down the right side of the tower. "Nice hit," Acid says, looking down at Dox with a big smile, leaving Bold with an angry pouting face. "Now throw again,"
Dox grabs another ball as Film finally knocks down his bottle tower. "Yes," Film says, hoof pumping the air as Sherbert hands a royal guard stuffed animal to Film. "Hey, you gave me this last time," Film says sarcastically with a big smile on his face. Sherbert chuckles at Film's antics as Bold throws another ball, missing again. Bold furrows his brow as he presses his lips together angrily.
"Calm down, or else you won't ever hit the target," Film says, attempting to wrap an arm around Bold's back while placing a gentle hoof on his chest.
"What are you, a Jiu-Jitsu master?" Bold asks, wrapping an arm around Film's back as he looks down at him with a questioning look.
"Not master but pretty close,"
"Really?" Bold asks, surprised. Film nods as Dox throws another ball. Hitting the tower down completely. "Wow, I was joking," Bold chuckles as he scratches the back of his head.
"Nice work Dox," Moon says as Sherbert places a griffin stuffed animal on the counter.
"Thanks mom…" Dog stops too late as he realizes what he said. A blush forms on his face as he hastily tries to cover it up. "I-i mean Moon," Acid and Moon chuckle as the little changelings mix up.
"Maybe aventaly," Acid says as he wraps his arm around Dox again. Moon wraps her arm around Acid in a kind of side hug with the two.
"Flippin finally!" Bold yells as the last of his milk bottles falls to the ground.
"Took you long enough," Film says as Bold is handed a plush Celestia.
"Oh can it, little colt," Bold replies as the group takes their winnings and walks away from the booth.
"So," Film says as he turns to look at Acid, who was messing around with Moon's plush Luna. "What's next?" Acid looks over to the Film and smiles.
"Water,"
"Water?!" Film asks excitedly.
"Water?" Moon asks.
"Water?" Dox and Bold also join in.
"Water!" Acid and Film yell out in excitement.
(Space Skip)
"I can't believe they talked us into this," Moon says, slightly annoyed. She sits on a trap door over a big pool of water. That trap door was connected to a little target next to the pool of water. Standing on the ladder behind where Moon sits is Bold.
"They didn't exactly tell us what it was," Bold shoots back as Acid is handed five balls by the mare running the booth. Acid turns to look over at Moon with a smile as he places down the balls in front of him, leaving one in his hoof.
"Ya ready to get dunked!?" Acid yells over to the Moon.
"That's if you can hit it shorty!" Moon shoots back with a big smile on her face. Acid smiles tetermently as he turns to the small target to hit. He sticks his tongue out as he pulls his hoof back behind his head. He throws it with a grunt. The ball flies through the air and misses the target so badly it almost misses the backboard. The mare at the stand covers her mouth as she tries not to laugh.
"Ha!" Moon yells out with a giant smile on her face. "My freshman bat guards throw better than that!" Acid furrowed his eyebrows in anger as he readied himself for the second throw. He again throws the ball towards the target, this time barely missing the target.
"Feathers," Acid grunts in pain before slowly rotating his shoulder.
"Oh," Moon's smile fades real quick when she sees he is in pain. "What did you do, old timer, throw out your shoulder?!" Moon asks in a half serious, half joking tone.
"I'm only twenty-seven!" Acid shoots back as he picks up a ball and throws it at the target without thinking. The ball barely hits the target, but just enough for the target to be pushed in and send Moon into the pool of water.
"Nice," Film says as the ponies in line cheer. Moon comes up to the serfes squirting water out of her mouth.
"Great, now I'm going to be wet the rest of the day," She grumbles as she gets out of the pool before Bold takes his spot on the trap door, wich is now back up. Moon shakes off a bit of the water before flying over to Acid and Dox, who was now standing off to the side watching Film attempt to hit the target.
"Do you think he'll hit it?" Acid asks as Moon lands next to him and Dox.
"If you can, then yes," Moon replies.
(Time Skip)
Acid, Moon, and Dox sit up on a hill in Canterlot park at night with a few hundred other ponies waiting for the sunrise. Dox sitting in between Acid and Moon as he looks up at the night sky.
"It's beautiful," Moon whispers as she looks up at the starry night sky.
"There is something more beautiful down here," Acid says, looking up at the Moon. She smiles and slightly turns away from Acid so as to not show her bright red blush.
"You flatter me," Moon says, turning to face Acid with the blush fading from her cheeks.
"But it's true," Acid says, leaning into Moon's side as he looks up at her with a smile. Moon chuckles before wrapping her wing around his back.
"Not that I mind, but can you two be any mushyer?" Dox asks, looking back at the two. The two chuckle as Dox's response before the two nuzzle into each other. Dox smiles and rolls his eyes before turning around to face the horizon. His eyes light up as they go wide.
"Wow," Dox lets slip in awe as the sun rises up. With it, Luna and Celestia fly high up into the sky. Their skin radiating with the bright sunlight behind them. Acid sighs as he watches the sun rise, memories of the first time he saw the sun rise with the princess flooding his memory.
"I wish Film would have stayed with us," Acid says sadly.
"They don't normally stay up at night," Moon replies. "But you know who does?" Moon asks as she looks down at him with a smile and a light blush. Acid looks up at her with a brow raised in confusion. Moon leans down and locks lips with his.
Acid's eyes widen in surprise before a smile slowly forms on his face. He slowly closes his eyes as he presses into her lip. The two sigh into each other as they press deeper into each other. Moon wraps her arms around Acid's body and pulls him deeper into her kiss as Acid pulls himself closer to her with his arms wrapped around her lower body.
The sun rises slowly over top of them as they slowly stop kissing. The two stay inches from each other as they stare into eachothers eyes. Acid gets lost in her blood red eyes, while Moon blushes at Acid's sparkling orange eyes.
"Gross," Dox replies, looking back at the two. "Is that what love looks like?" He asks genuinely. Acid and Moon chuckle at his questions before they turn to look at him.
"Sometimes," Moon replies before Acid bursts in.
"And sometimes, it looks like this," Acid quickly wraps his arms around Dox and pulls him into a deep hug. One that the struggling bug can't get out of. Moon chuckles before wrapping her arms and wings around the pair in her own hug.
"I love you two screw balls," Moon says, looking down at the pair, who look up at her.
"We love you to the Moon," Acid says, before looking down at Dox. "Right?"
"Technically I can't show love," Dox corrects. "But you two's love for eachother has left me almost bloated, so I can safely say I love you too," Dox finally says as he wiggles deeper into Acid's body with a smile. The group sit there as they watch Luna and Celestia fly back down to the ground.
