The Date

Later at a location called Ono's Ramen

Danny and Hsien-ko, as promised, were eating ramen together on their date.

The two went to the very place that Mei-Ling recommended and ordered their meals.

Danny had ordered the tonkotsu ramen and Hsien-ko chose the pork ramen.

The two of them were eating and talking, still trying to break the awkward tension between them, but were having trouble doing so.

"Uh, good ramen..." Danny said, after trying it out.

"Oh, yeah. Not as good as the one where we live..." Hsien-ko said, looking shy.

The two remained quiet for a moment, still feeling shy about this whole thing.

This has to be the weirdest date I've ever been on. I mean...sure, she did try to pulverize me earlier but that is not a turn off. I mean...I'm out on a date with a hot, older girl who can kick some serious butt. I gotta make sure to NOT look like a huge dork... Danny thought, nervous and excited.

He wasn't the only one. Hsien-ko was also feeling that.

I can't believe I am doing this. I mean...he is cute and all, and he did help against that Raptor creep but he might be scared off by how tough I am. He might not like that… Hsien-ko thought shyly, not used to this.

How is it possible that I felt less nervous around him/her when he/she tried to fight me?! Danny and Hsien-ko unknowingly thought in sync, unaware how similar they were.

After a few minutes, she decided to suck it up and be the first one to break the awkward silence, saying the first thing that came to her mind.

"So, are you… at least worried?" She asked, placing her chopsticks down for a moment.

"About what?" Danny answered.

"About… what I can do?" Hsien-ko asked more.

"That… you're a… hunter or whatever?" Danny asked.

"No. You saw what I can do. I have all these powers and I'm a better fighter than you… aren't you… even kinda scared of me?" She asked.

To her surprise, Danny shook his head and even chuckled a bit, like she said something funny just now.

"That's actually why I agreed to go out with you." He said.

"R-Really?" Hsien-ko asked, surprised to hear this.

"Totally, I mean...you're tall, hot, strong and can kick some major butt, and you're not evil. In my book, that's a huge upside. Plus, it was kind of hot how you manhandled that Raptor dork..." He admits.

Hearing that, Hsien-ko felt as if cupid's arrow hit her.

"R-Really?!" She asked excitedly.

"Yup. The way I see it, the more a girl can defend herself, the better..." Danny admits.

Finding herself opening up, Hsien-ko scooted closer.

"So, tell me more about yourself. Your friends, family, other enemies." She said.

Danny smiled.

"Well… aside from what I told you, there's not much else to say. I have a mom, a dad and an older sister and two best friends who fight ghosts with me...I do have a...cousin...sort of...but we're gonna be here a while..." He said. "While I talk, tell me about your life as a Darkstalker."

Hsien-ko smiled widely.

"Gladly…" She said.

Halfway into the dinner, the two have caught up with most of the other's life from their talk.

"So, your dad has no idea he built a machine that gave you and his friend who hates his guts superpowers?" Hsien-ko asked.

"Yeah… the irony is that he and my mom think humans can't get ghost powers." Danny states.

"Heh… if that knowledge became public, they might get in trouble for child endangerment, or not complying with OSHA on keeping the on button outside the machine, among other safety violations." Hsien-ko points out.

"Yeah… might be why they don't get government backing…" Danny admits before getting back to Hsien-ko's life. "So… what's it like? Turning into a… zombie vampire ghost thing?"

"Huh… no one's ever asked me that before." She thought about it. "Well… after my sister and I figured out how to channel power from the demon world of Makai to change us back to how we were in our past lives, I kind of somehow… felt like it was okay. Like… it feels like a good stretch that happens to loosen your joints." Hsien-ko explained.

"That's kind of like how it feels when I go ghost, except you actually stretch." Danny points out.

"You also don't get a developed chest." Hsien-ko said, pointing at her chest, which was flatter than her jiangshi form's.

"Y-yeah…" Danny went, blushing as he looked away.

Hsien-ko meanwhile smiled at his reaction, finding herself at peace to be around someone similar to her.

"So… where's your team now?" She asks.

"Sam's parents are entertaining her cousins in Europe and she couldn't get out of that. And Tuck's mom says his chores were piling up and won't let him go online until he finishes them, all of them involving manual labor. Knowing him, he'd have wanted to start some blind date program with me so he didn't do it alone. But, to be honest, I like this date more than enough…" He admits, admiring her.

Hsien-ko blushed and smiled at him.

"Me too…"

After dinner, Danny and his "secret admirer" were now walking together, still talking.

"Man, that was fun, and pretty tasty too." He said.

"Yeah, I agree…" Hsien-ko said.

"So, shall I walk you to wherever you're staying?" Danny asked.

"Actually, let's just walk together." Hsien-ko said.

"Sure thing." He said as they started to head to the park where they met.

"I gotta say, Danny...tonight was certainly interesting." Hsien-ko said, smiling.

Danny smiled, rubbing the back of his head.

"Yeah, it sure was." He admitted, still smiling.

It was strange to him. Here he came, expecting to go on a date with a secret admirer but instead, he went out on a date with a cute Chinese hopping vampire who tried to trick him and ended up finding herself very interested in him.

This might somehow end up being the best night of my life… He thought, finding it ironic and kind of amazing.

After a few minutes, Hsien-ko noticed how late it was getting.

"I should be heading back. My hotel's on the other side of town..." Hsien-ko said, worrying about the time.

"At least let me walk you home. I don't mind..." Danny offered.

"Thanks but it's far..." Hsien-ko said, turning him down.

"I could fly you there..." Danny offered.

"You sure?" She asked.

"I don't mind. I'm willing to do it for you." Danny said.

"That's… really nice. You sure?" She asked.

"Of course. Despite how it started, I'm glad I met you Hsien-ko..." Danny said, making her smile.

"Likewise, Danny. I'm sorry again about tricking you and nearly beating you to a pulp. It was a huge mistake on our part..." Hsien-ko said sheepishly, but the ghost boy waved it off.

"Water under the bridge. Plus, don't mind a girl who knows how to kick zombie butt..." He said, giving a thumb's up.

Hsien-ko smiled, feeling her heart beat faster.

He is a pretty cool guy, I should do something nice. She thought, deciding to thank him one way.

"Okay… but only if you do me a favor. Close your eyes."

"Uh… okay…" Danny said, closing them.

"Okay, here we go." She said, turning red.

Her face moved closer to his, her lips puckering.

She was about to kiss his cheek, but due to being clumsy and not looking where she was going, she ended up tripping over a stone and landed on top of Danny.

She blinked and then noticed that her lips landed on something.

Both of them opened their eyes and saw they were kissing on the lips.

They both stopped breathing, blushing brightly and their eyes were widened, looking stunned to say the least.

Hsien-ko pulled away, covering her lips as Danny stood with his body suddenly shut down.

"I'm sorry...I...I tripped...and...and...that was an accident..." Hsien-ko stuttered in embarrassment, her entire face turning red and looking ready to pass out.

Danny, while blushing, smiled.

"It's okay...don't worry, I don't have a problem..." Danny said, smiling at her before he inched closer.

Realizing what he had in mind, Hsien-ko smiled back.

"Okay then…"

The two kissed each other quickly. They smiled at each other as Danny had a thought that wouldn't leave him.

"It's cool, and kinda weird..." Danny said.

"What is?" Hsien-ko asked.

Danny realized that he was speaking out loud and decided to voice his thoughts.

"Well, okay… you're really cute in this form...really cute but no offense but...I can't help but be more attracted to the version of you with blue skin and the robe with long sleeves..." He admitted, scratching the back of his head.

Hsien-ko blushed upon hearing this and smiled.

"Well, I'll be honest...I think I feel the same way. Don't get me wrong, you're kinda cute for a human but something about you as Phantom drew me in like a magnet..." The girl admitted.

Danny blushed and looked up.

"For real?" He asked.

"Yeah..." The girl said, nodding.

The ghost boy thought about it before chuckling a bit.

"It's funny… we both have a thing for us being the undead...we're almost like Pepe Le Pew and Penelope at the same time… except neither of us have people arguing with each other about how this is a situation that might get the other arrested..." He said, earning a laugh from her.

"You're so funny…"

"I am?" He asked.

"Yeah. And I'd love for you to give me a ride…" She said.

"In that case…" He went.

Danny morphed at the exact moment Hsien-ko closed her eyes and transformed with energy from Makai to become a jiangshi again.

Danny then picked Hsien-ko up, bridal style.

"Lead the way, handsome." She went before kissing his cheek.

With a smile, Danny carried her into the air.

After a few minutes, Danny landed in an alley, putting Hsien-ko down and looking crossed with a nervous blue girl.

"Heheheh… I forgot where it was…" She went.

"And to think, you're also this awesome kung-fu zombie." He went.

"Sorry… but on the plus side…" Hsien-ko placed a hand on her hip as the other hand pressed on the wall to keep her propped up. "We got more time together…"

Danny smiled.

"That is true…" He said.

"Well…" Her arms were out. "Come on over!"

Danny got excited.

"Best night of my life…" He said under my breath.

He flew into her arms.

"Wǒ jiē dào nǐle!" She went happily as she wrapped her arms around him and held him like a teddy bear, keeping his feet off the ground as she kissed his cheek repeatedly.

Danny felt himself melt in her arms.

"So cool…" He said happily.

So quickly, the two became very fond of each other, very affectionate. Danny held her as he let Hsien-ko kiss his cheek like her life depended on it.

"Oh, this is so cool. Scary monsters, creepy zombies, this is so worth it…" Hsien-ko said as she kissed his cheek more.

As she did so, Danny's ghost sense went off.

Danny's ghost sense went off, much to his ire.

"Not again..." Danny said.

"What happened?" Hsien-ko asked.

"A ghost...sorry, I'll be back..." Danny said, he said, sliding out of her grip and flying towards the direction he heard a scream from.

Hsien-ko smiled and decided to follow.

"Might as well see how he does things…" She said to herself.

Upon reaching the street, he saw about 5 people running for their lives.

He quickly saw the cause, it was a large serpent spirit, pale white with green markings and red eyes.

"HHHHHHHSSSSSSSS!" The ghostly serpent let out, hissing and attacking the area.

Danny soon flew to the air and was now face to face with the snake ghost.

"Alright, Slinky. Time to shed!" Danny said.

"HSSSSSSSSSSSS!" The serpent hisses loudly and lunges at him.

Danny bobbed to avoid the attack and soon was battling the ghostly reptile.

Hsien-Ko watched this from afar.

"Impressive..." She commented, truly fascinated by his skill.

True, he was nowhere as skilled or powerful as she is. Still, he was strong in his own right and had his own moves.

In the meantime, Danny waited for the snake to attack again before reacting and uppercuts the face, knocking it upward.

Once it was off guard, Danny pulled out his thermos and aimed, trapping the ghost inside it.

With the threat gone, Danny put the Thermos back and landed not far from Hsien-ko at the corner, where no one else was around.

"And that, is that…" He said before noticing her claw close to him.

In a second, he noticed Hsien-ko was next to him.

"Not bad. Course, I would've taken it down faster." She admits before clearing her throat. "Uh… not that you're a weakling…"

"I'll admit it, you're way bigger, stronger and a better fighter than me...and it's awesome..." Danny said, grinning.

Hsien-Ko was even more enamored with him to hear that and felt her heart beat faster.

"Where have you been all my life?" She asked as she then wrapped her arms with long sleeves around him. "Come here..." She said before pulling him in, pressing their chests together in the process, for a kiss.

Danny's eyes shot up in surprise, but he soon melted into the kiss.

He noticed that despite supposedly being a zombie-like girl, she didn't feel so cold or clammy. She actually seemed pretty soft and a more comforting kind of cold.

The two kissed a bit more before parting.

"Wow… you feel like… like the cool side of my pillow." He said.

"How so?" She asks.

"Its hard to say but touching you, your skin is all soft and cool, in a good way." He said.

Hearing that, Hsien-ko smiled warmly as she looked him in the eyes.

"I don't think I wanna let you go now…" She said.

"Me neither… I could stay here all night… but… not forever, I do wanna be an astronaut." He responded.

"Okay then…" She said before kissing him on the lips again.

Danny melted into it before the two kissed again. Hsien-ko then nuzzled her blush stickered cheek into his as Danny felt relaxed.

She's the coolest girl I've ever met. She's just like me… He said as he relaxed more

Danny soon changed back to his human form but Hsien-Ko still had her arms around him, holding him as tightly as she could.

He did notice that suddenly, her touch became rather cold and unpleasant, what was once soft felt hard and uncomfortable.

"AAHH! PUT ME DOWN!" He went.

"Huh?" Hsien-ko went, snapping out of her loving daze.

"Let me go!" He went.

After letting him go, the zombie girl noticed the uncomfortable look on his face.

"What's wrong?" She asked.

"It's weird. You went from the cool side of my pillow, making me smile like the sun, to feeling like literal ice. Uh… not that it makes you less amazing..." Danny admitted, trying to be gentle with his words and not offend her.

Hsien-ko blinked, unsure how he suddenly did not like her touch before realizing he morphed to human form.

"Wait a minute… I just realized this is the first time I've touched you as this while you were human. Maybe… your ghost form makes you… more comfortable with my touch?" Hsien-ko suggests.

"It's a possibility. I mean, we were both sort of the undead, so maybe…" He reasoned.

Hsien-ko pouted.

"I knew there was a catch. Even if I find you cuter when we transform, I still like holding you… Ugh… if only I were Morrigan or even Lilith, I bet they'd have the opposite of this…" She went, crossing her arms.

"Who?" Danny asks.

"Other Darkstalkers… not important right now. What is important is that this is frustrating." She said before looking down.

Smiling, Danny morphed back to his ghost form, hovered up and kissed her on the cheek, surprising her.

"Well… I do think this form can keep up with you more.

"Maybe we can continue our date as this, if that's okay..." Hsien-Ko said, smiling at him.

Danny nodded, offering an arm that she took as the two walked to their next destination.

Later at the park.

Danny and Hsien-Ko sat at the fountain, where Danny is recounting a past event.

"I ended up getting in broken and, simply put, it's one of the reasons this town has ghost insurance." He said.

"I wish they did Darkstalker insurance wherever they show up." Hsien-Ko said.

"Either way, I'm just glad no one has tried sending us the bills for the damage." Danny said.

"I suppose so…" Hsien-ko admits.

"Still, it's not your fault some jerks cause trouble, anymore that it's mine. We just gotta deal with this stuff." Danny responded.

With that, Danny inched closer, allowing him to place a hand on Hsien-ko's. She took notice of this and smiled.

"Pretty brave, aren't you? You know, I could take you down, here and now, right?" She asks.

"I know… and instead of thinking "oh god, save me please" I'll think "what a woman…" because I'm a total dork." He admits.

Hearing that, Hsien-ko leaned into him a bit, smiling more.

"I really like you Danny. I know we've just met… but you're amazing." She said.

"I think you're amazing too…" Danny admits. "I can so see myself wanting to do this again with you…"

"I'd love that…" Hsien-ko admits before her smile fell. "A shame I can't do that…"

Danny's smile disappeared.

"What? But… why?" He asked, already feeling his heart break a bit.

"I live in China, remember? I have to go back and even then, I'm a Dark Hunter… I don't have time for that many dates… much less a boyfriend." She admits.

"Oh… so… I guess we might not see each other for a long while?" He asks.

"I'm afraid not…" She admits.

"Oh…" He said.

Seeing the ghost boy seemed disappointed to hear this, Hsien-ko wrapped her sleeved arm around him.

"But I do like you. I don't mind how we met, even if it wasn't the best of terms..." She reassured him.

Danny smiled a bit at that. He then decided he wanted to at least do one more thing with her.

"Before you have to go? What do you think we should do to kill time?" He asked.

"How about a spar?" Hsien-Ko suggested.

"A spar?" He asked.

The girl nodded.

"Yes, I want to see how well you'd of stood against me. Plus, it'd be great practice in case an actual Darkstalker besides Raptor were to show up..." She said.

Danny heard this and formed a smile on his face, giving a thumb's up before nodding.

"I'm in..." He said, actually excited for this.

"Oof!" He went, hitting the ground.

"Come on… you can do it!" Hsien-ko said, still up and eager.

"Should've agreed to go dancing instead…" Danny said, pushing himself up

He charged at her again, but shel easily retaliated by using her claws to swing herself upward and kick him.

"I feel like I should put my foot down on how this won't work." She quipped

"Quips too? Stop being so darn perfect!" Danny said as he tried again but the results were the same.

Hsien-Ko sent him a playful wink.

"If you want, I can come instead..." She said as she hopped into the air and, after it looked like she ran on air, came flying down with a dive kick.

Danny, however, acted fast and managed to catch her foot.

"Gotcha!" He went in prideful declaration as he held her up by her foot.

Hsien ko was surprised but managed to use her other foot to kick his hand to free herself and jump over him, landing gracefully.

Before Danny could react, Hsien-ko pulled him by the face and smiled at him.

"You're amazing..." She said happily before kissing him deeply.

Danny froze up, his mind going completely blank.

Hsien-ko resumed, her bare hands going down his face and wrapping around his neck to hold him tightly.

Green eyes met brown as the two stared into each other's eyes before Danny rose his arms and hugged her.

After a moment, he pulled away and held her tightly, to her confusion.

"Got her!" He said.

Three more Danny appeared around them, all of them grinning with anticipation.

'Got her!" They all said, each one grinning as they grabbed her limbs.

As the four held onto Hsien-ko, she had an idea to get them off.

She kissed one on the cheek, making him turn red and smile goofy before he disappeared. She did the same to another, then the third, leaving only the last one as the real one.

"Good try, but no." She said.

"Darn my weakness to beautiful undead warriors..." He playfully cursed himself.

''Lucky for me, I'm your kryptonite..." She said.

"Except I don't think I'll ever get sick of you..." Danny quipped with a wink before taking several steps back to dust himself clean.

Hsien-ko sighed.

"So annoying... but I think I like him a lot..." She said to herself with a smile.

"Well, I think we've established I can't beat you in a fight." Danny said.

"Like I thought…. You got a lot of room to improve. With a little time to learn some proper martial arts, you'd be unstoppable." Hsien-ko says to him.

"Really?" Danny asks.

"Definitely."

"Cool..." Danny said.

Once done, Hsien-ko hugged Danny, his face not far from her chest due to his size as he looked away, turning red.

"My eyes are up here..." She reminds him with a smile.

"And mine are here due to the height difference... not because I'm a total pervert..." He points out.

Hearing that, Hsien-ko laughed before she gasped.

"Duh... I remember where we're staying now!" She went.

"Really?" Danny asks, incredulous.

"Really!" She insists.

"And you're sure this time?" He asks.

"Oh, come on. I'm not that forgetful!" Hsien-ko said.

"We're here because you forgot, remember?" He reminds her.

Hsien-ko sighed.

"You're not so cute I won't pummel you, y'know?" She asks.

"True… but I'd welcome any time we can spend together." He said.

Hsien-ko gave a cute smile at that line.

"Okay, you are that cute." She said.

With that, Danny lifted her in a bridal manner and took to the air.

Danny landed not far from the hotel she was staying at, this time for sure the right place.

''I wonder if this is how Morrigan's dates usually go, even though half of them end with them at the hospital from overexhaustion..." Hsien-Ko said to herself.

"Well… here we are." He said sadly.

"Yeah…" Hsien-ko said, sighing somewhat bitterly. "Well, thanks again for the ride. I can only run in the air for a short period of time before I hit the ground."

Before Danny could respond, a certain someone applauded their arrival and stepped into the alley they were in. It was Mei-Ling, who was also smiling.

"Well, it looks like we finally found a boy who can stand you." She joked.

"Hardy har har…" Hsien-ko said, crossing her arms and pouting.

"Big sisters… I get it." Danny whispered to her.

"You love 'em, but they get annoying, huh?" Hsien-ko asks.

"Yup." Danny responds.

"See? You two are already more than likely soulmates." Mei-Ling went with a smile.

"And right now, you're being annoying. So can it." Hsien-ko grumbled.

"I can only hope your kids don't inherit your attitude…" Mei-Ling snarked, angering her sister more. "Well… if you're all done… it's time for you both to go to bed. Separately, I mean. So, no ideas…" She chided playfully.

Hsien-ko turned red with embarrassment, as did Danny, before they both sputtered. Danny tried to laugh it off before he decided it was time to go.

''Uh...I...uh...it's getting late, and it is time I get home before my folks wonder where I am since they don't know my secret..." Danny said, feeling awkward.

"Right, secret identities too. See? You're perfect. I'll give you lovebirds some privacy..." Mei-Ling said with a giggle.

She left the two embarrassed undead behind.

"I'm so sorry about my sister..." Hsien-Ko said, blushing.

"No worries, I get it. Family can be kind of a pain no matter how much you love them..." He said.

"She was my sister in my past-life too… so she's a pain in two lifetimes…" She grumbled.

"So, I guess this is goodbye..." Danny said, looking bummed

"Yeah..." Hsien-Ko said, just as bummed.

The two teens of them sighed, not sure what to say.

However, Hsien-ko noticed their date isn't over yet as she wrapped her sleeve around him and pulled him in and up.

"Whoa!" Danny went as Hsien-ko phased her arms out of her sleeves and held him up to kiss him.

The kiss made him melt as he happily kissed her back. He used his power to hover so that she didn't have to hold him up

Once she stopped, she smiled at him.

"So...one last one… unless we lose track of time again..." Hsien-Ko offered, wanting to kiss him more.

Danny perked up upon hearing that. The ghost boy felt his heart beat faster.

"Sure, I don't mind being grounded at the moment..."Danny said, bringing his face closer.

"Well, assuming that's what happens, at least you had fun tonight… Lord Raptor not withstanding. But forget him, I got someone cuter with me." Hsien-ko said before kissing him.

The two teens locked lips and soon shared what was probably gonna be their last kiss. At least for now.

Mei-Ling, meanwhile, took a photo with her phone and smiled.

"My new favorite couple…" She said to herself.

Halfway into the kiss, Hsien-ko turned back to human form, still held by Danny, her feet off the ground. Danny landed and turned to human form, still kissing her.

The two finally parted and smiled warmly.

"Good night, Danny."

"Good night, Hsien-ko." He then turned around. "Good night, Mei-Ling, and please don't pick on your wonderful sister."

"I make no promises, not even to my favorite potential brother-in-law." She jokingly said.

"Hardy har har…" Hsien-ko went again in anger before smiling at Danny. "Take care."

"You too… Also…" Danny quickly pulled out a piece of paper and wrote something down. "Here's my email, if you ever wanna talk…"

Hsien-ko took a photo with her own phone.

"Got it. So… bye." She went, smiling.

Danny nodded and morphed.

"Bye…"

"Wait!" She went, changing back. "One more hug!"

Danny, blushing as hard as her, shared a hug with Hsien-ko.

The two remained in their embrace, savoring it as much as they possibly could but even they knew that all good things had to come to an end.

With that, Danny nodded and flew away.

Once he was gone, Hsien-ko returned to human form and sighed happily.

"I so wish we could come back…" Hsien-ko went.

"Amazing… we finally meet someone ideal for you, and he's both younger and not a Darkstalker. Still… we should go now." Mei-Ling said.

That caught the other's attention as she did a double take.

"Huh?"

"We're needed back home ASAP. Looks like that word of a cactus creature, wearing a sombrero of all things, came from the world of Makai. Let's see if it's a bad one… unless you wanna go on a date with it?" Mei-Ling questioned.

"I repeat… Hardy har har…" Hsien-ko grumbled.

"Still, that Danny guy is okay in my book." Mei-Ling said with a smile before she headed back to the hotel.

Before joining her, Hsien-ko looked up at the sky and smiled happily.

"Danny Phantom… what a guy…"
