Chapter 2: "You don't say, Sherlock"

While they waited for the strange big person (but then to Hobbits, all big folk are), Frodo, Pippin, Merry and Sam settled on looking around their surroundings (without actually leaving their spot). A movement caught their eyes. Frodo and Pip looked in its direction. Unable to discern what it was, they turned to asked Merry and Sam about what it was. Only problem was: they weren't there. Feeling sudden fear for himself and Frodo, Pippin huddled (albeit awkwardly) to his older cousin.

Looking up (but, still not letting go of each other), the remaining Hobbits saw the man from earlier coming back with another big person (compared to two Hobbits, that is). This one was slightly taller - at least twice their height - than "John" as they remembered the shorter one briefly introducing himself as, before leaving them. The taller man also had dark brown, almost black curls (a bit like Frodo's), sharp cheekbones (Pippin thinking Sharp enough to stab both of us) and practically light grey/silver eyes that appeared to read both Hobbits. If either of them knew who this was, they wouldn't be as surprised as they were just then.

As he was dragging his flatmate and best friend onehanded down Baker Street, John saw a slight movement from the corner of his eye. He decided to ignore it in case Sherlock didn't believe him. John noticed something different the moment he caught sight of the Hobbits: there were two remaining; meaning, something happened to the other two. The movement he saw might have had something to do with it. (A/N: how'd you like that John Watson take on deductions before Sherlockian ones).

"What did you want to show me?" asked Sherlock, in a bored tone "There is an experiment I have to get back to."

"If it involved blowing up the flat, Mrs Hudson will add it to the rent." (A/N: reference to a Mrs H quote from an episode; so, maybe spoilers for that) John pointed out. Looking more closely, he saw that "Scarf" and "Blue Eyes" were left. The Hobbits were huddling close to each other.

"I didn't introduce myself properly earlier, did I?" the doctor attempted to lighten the mood.

"You didn't" the Hobbit with blue eyes agreed.

"John Watson and this," he pointed to the consulting detective he still hadn't let go of yet "is Sherlock Holmes."

"Frodo Baggins," Scarf Hobbit pointed to his companion "and Pippin Took"

Sherlock silence, which John knew well enough by now, meant he was busy deducing the two hobbits.

"Sherlock, not now or here" the doctor hissed to his flatmate. Choosing to ignore this, Frodo spoke next:

"Could you help us find our friends?"

"Where did you last see them?" asked John.

"Over there" Pippin and Frodo pointed to where they had last seen their friends.

"I'll take the case" said Sherlock, without warning anyone (as usual). At the look's on both Hobbits' faces, John hastily added:

"He means we'll help" he emphasized. He, Sherlock and the Hobbits looked up when they heard a voice saying:

"You don't say, Sherlock"
