What ever happened to the Boo Brothers?
Chapter 7: The Monster
Previously
"ROAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRR!..."The creature yelled again and stomped around, still searching.
Velma just kept running, trying to get away. She managed to run out of the cemetery and kept running until she managed to find a tree with a large hole in the trunk.
While she wasn't as thin or as "flexible" as Shaggy or Scooby were with their hiding places, she manages to squeeze herself inside out of desperation.
She was now there, hiding but she knew that the creature was still out there, searching for them.
"I hope that the others are okay..."She thought in worry as she continued to hide, as she could sense that the creature was still nearby, searching for it's prey.
Present Time
While Daphne was running away from both the monster and Billy-Bob, Velma was hiding in the tree, and Shaggy and Scooby were no doubt landing them a higher bill at the motel, Fred has his own problems.
Namely, being caught and cornered by one of the Scroggins on their own land.
Not just any Scroggin's either, but it was Debra-Sue.
The hillbilly woman smiled happily and Fred gulped at this new admirer, who somehow found him, despite the fact that he was avoiding her. And now, he didn't even have Daphne for protection.
"What do I say? What do I say?! Is this how Shaggy and Scooby think when there's a monster?!..." He thought, trying to think fast as the woman kept looking like she eyeing him like a peace of meat.
Still, he had to say something to keep her away and also get away from the monster too.
"Uh, Debra-Sue. Funny seeing you here. Alone… and so soon..."Fred said, smiling nervously as he sweat hard.
"Well, I'se do live here ya know..."Debra-Sue said, winking as she took a step forward.
"I... thought you went home..." He said, shuddering as he took a step back.
"I is home, Handsome. Yer on Scroggins land, but don't worry, I won't tell pa and Uncle Jedediah. Not any time soon, at least..."Debra-Sue said, hinting her intent.
"Oh, un...sorry...I...didn't realize that I was trespassing. I'll leave… now..."Fred apologized, trying to leave but she blocked him.
"Don't be sorry...I ain't got a problem with you here..."Debra-Sue said in a flirty manner as she approached him.
Fred gulped, but recalled the situation at hand and tried to focus on that.
"Forget about that, we gotta get out of here! The Cajun Sasquatch is near and almost attacked me and my friends!..."Fred said, trying to warn her.
To his shock, Debra-Sue started laughing like he made some sort of joke.
"Oh Freddy, yer so funny. I likes that in a man!..."She said, laughing it off and not taking him seriously.
"I'm not joking! I saw it with my own eyes. There really is a Cajun Sasquatch around here! Me and my friends saw something big and hairy charging after us and we barely managed to get away..."Fred tried but the red haired girl still didn't take him seriously.
"Oh, yer such a skittish one, Freddy. It was probably just some bear or some other critter. Either way, I'se just glad that you'se didn't get hurt. I'd hate to see this cute face get all banged up..."Debra-Sue said, still hitting on him.
"I...I..."Fred tried to reason with her but she kept coming onto him, and didn't take his protest seriously.
"Now, how's about we go on a nice moonlit walk together? I'se can show you how...romantic...the river side can be at night..."Debra-Sue said as she fluttered her eyes at him.
Fred felt uncomfortable as he gulped and tried to regain control of the situation.
"D-Debra-Sue...Look, you seem nice, but I'm serious...there is a monster here and-..."He tried but the girl laughed again, cutting him off.
"You city boys sure do know how to keep a girl on her toes..."She said, as she took a few steps forward.
"Uh, yeah. That's certainly one way to describe it. Not necessarily the one I'd use. Anyway, I know that it wasn't a bear, it was the monster..."Fred said, stepping back as the aggressive woman began to close the distance between them.
She giggled in a cute way, but it didn't sound cute to him.
"You can stop with all that monster talk, I knows that y'all just wanted to see lil' ole me. No need to keep pretendin', Hon..."Debra-Sue said, with a smirk.
"Wait...what?..."Fred asked, shocked that she'd even suggest that was his intentions.
Before he could try and explain things, the hillbilly girl reached out and grabbed him by his ascot once more and pulled him to eye-level again.
"That's nice and all, but why don't we quit playing around...and have some REAL fun!..."Debra-Sue said as she held onto him tight.
"Hey! Wait! You don't understand!..."Fred said, but the lovesick country girl just puckered her lips.
"Come here, cutie!~..."Debra-Sue said as she pulled Fred to the bushes with her.
"WHOA!..."Fred yelled as the pretty farm girl used her abnormal strength on him to keep him in her grasp.
"Debra-Sue wait, I'm not that forward of a guy!..."Fred tried but she didn't seem to listen and continued.
"No worries, Sugah. I'm not as forward as my cousin, but I is way more fun! Now come here, ya big lug!..."Debra-Sue said coyly before she proceeded to smooch him senseless.
"Muah! Muah! Muah! Muah..."Was heard as the hillbilly woman kept kissing him on the lips, despite his protests as he struggled to break free.
"Where's that monster, real or costumed, when I need it?!..."Fred yelled, upon breaking free and running away.
Debra-Sue saw this and didn't seem discouraged. If anything, she laughed.
"Cousin Sadie Mae is right...them city boys are real teasers...but cute ones..."She said, giggling as she decided to go after him, while Fred kept running.
Both away from any Cajun Sasquatches...and from boy-crazy country girls who apparently can't take no for an answer.
With Velma
The brainy girl was still hiding in the tree trunk as the creature kept roaring and prowling around in the dark.
It was dark and she still couldn't get a good look at creature, especially since it was a moonless night and it was still hard to see it well. However, the way the creature moved was odd. It passed by Velma's tree, but never checked inside. It kept searching but the glasses wearing girl, while relieved, was also confused.
"It passed by and didn't notice...I should count myself lucky but...why does it look like it's looking for something else?..."She thought as she continued to observe and remain quiet.
The creature began to climb a nearby tree and was on a branch, but it didn't howl or anything, it was like it was looking for something.
"What's it doing?..."Velma thought as the creature jumped out of the tree and landed on the ground, still looking like it was searching for something.
But what?
To her surprise, the creature then turned to the tree and then began scratching on it, but Velma still couldn't get too good of a look at it.
That's when it happened.
"Shaaaaaagggggggggggggyyyyyyyyyyyy..."Was suddenly heard, echoing in the wind, which caught both their attention
"What? Did someone call out Shaggy's name?..."Velma thought as she hid, trying to remain quiet.
To her surprise, the creature suddenly stiffed at the mention of that name and suddenly looked more erratic for some reason.
"Huh?..."The brainy girl let out, but the name was echoed again, this time louder.
"Shaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggggyyyyyyyy..."Was heard again in an eerie way, and the creature definitely heard it.
Velma remained in place as the creature then started running...in the direction where that name was being called and was soon gone.
Once she was sure that the creature was gone, Velma got out of her hiding spot. She was glad that it was gone, but also confused about something.
"Why did that creature act that way when it heard Shaggy's name? Could it be after him? What could it want with him? And just who was calling out his name?..."She wondered as dusted herself off.
She then noticed the tree where the creature had been at and noticed what looked like scratch marks...in the shape of an "S"...or rather, 2 "S", and they seemed to be separated, but also what looked like an "x" as well.
"SXS? What does that mean?..."She wondered as she pulled out her note pad and started writing it down.
She then noticed something on the tree where the creature had been on.
It was another tuff of grayish fur, just like what she saw earlier.
"It's fur?..."She wondered as she felt it and frowned as it didn't feel like fur at all.
The brunette girl pulled out some tweezers and picked it up. She began to feel it and noticed that it felt less like fur and more rough, like from another kind of material.
However, that was the least of her worries as she knew that whatever that creature was, it was still at large and possibly after one of her best friends too.
"Jinkies! I gotta find the others and warn Shaggy before that thing comes back!..."She said as she started running again.
She just hoped that she could find them before the monster does.
Meanwhile
Shaggy and Scooby were still in the motel room. They tried hiding out there as they waited for their friends to come back, but nothing.
"Like, what's taking them?..."Shaggy asked, worried.
They haven't heard from them after Fred made that phone call about Billy Bob. Shaggy had panicked and told them to high tail it out of there...that was hours ago.
"Like, this doesn't make any sense. They should have been back by now..."Shaggy said, worried about his friends.
"Rhere ro you rhink rhey are, Rhaggy?..."Scooby said, worried that something might have happened to them.
Shaggy and Scooby thought about it and their eyes widened as ideas came to them about where their friends may be and what they're doing.
"Zoinks! They didn't?..."Shaggy said, not wanting it to be true.
"Are rou rure about rhat?..."Scooby said, since he had a feeling that they did the one thing he didn't want them to do.
"Oh, who am I kidding?! Of course they did!..."Shaggy said as he dragged his hand down his face.
He was 99.9% sure that his friends went to his uncle's abandoned house to look for that monster and that was probably where they ran into Billy Bob. Shaggy had been too scared to ask where they ran into him, but it makes sense now.
THEY WENT TO THE BEAUREGARD PLACE!
They went to that lousy place, despite his protests and who knows that kind of trouble they have gotten themselves in. The duo of cowards both panicked and started running around.
"Zoinks! They're probably in big trouble, especially if they ran into those wacky Scroggins or that monster!..."Shaggy said in a panic as he hid under the bed.
"Roth are a rate rorse rhan reath!..."Scooby yelled as he ran around in a panic and hid in the cupboard.
"No kidding, I just don't know which is worse! My mind can't process this at all!..."Shaggy said as he dreaded a running into that monster, but also dreaded another encounter with Sadie Mae and her brother.
Neither situation looked good for him and he knew it. The cowardly hippie didn't know what to do.
Should he save his friends? Even if it meant a reunion he never wanted to have with two of the most insane people he's ever met and a possibly deadly monster as well?!
"What do we do?! What do we do?!..."Shaggy thought, as he and Scooby panicked.
Both cowards stuck their heads out of their respective hiding spots, terrified the Scroggins could come looking for them, or even that monster.
"What are we gonna do?!..."Shaggy asked as he was worried for his friend's safety but also didn't want to go to the plantation and face the monster either.
"I ron't rnow!..."Scooby said, just as worried and scared too.
"Like, we can't do nothing! The gang probably needs us! We gotta help them somehow!..."Shaggy said, panicking and almost hyperventilating as he waited for an idea.
Before Scooby could come up with an idea, they heard it.
"Shaggy..." A voice went, low but echoing.
Shaggy flinched and then looked to who could have been the culprit.
"Like... knock it off, Scoob. I'm trying to think and not panic anymore than I already am..."The hippie said, thinking that this was one of his pranks but his dog shook his head.
"Rasn't me..." Scooby went.
"Shaggy..." The voice went again, this time louder.
"Zoinks...who's there?..."Shaggy asked in a trembling voice as he had a feeling that they were not alone.
As soon as he said that, something literally phased into the motel room from the walls, going through the other wall and the two cowards gasped in horror as they knew that they were no longer alone here.
"ZOINKS! LIKE, AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!..."Shaggy screamed as he and Scooby clung to each other for protection as this entire mystery just got spookier and spookier.
