Chapter 7

I arrived home. Nicole was watching the baby. Nicole was Teri's birth mother, she made what she felt was the best decision for everyone, putting the baby up for adoption. Michelle and I were in the middle of adopting little Teri. Nicole was our best babysitter, and one of our maids of honor for our wedding tomorrow.
.
Nicole: You okay, you seem tired.
Joe: It's been a long day.
Nicole: Yeah, I guess you were busting a smokeasie.
Joe: Something like that, I need a shower before I get some sleep.
Nicole: You hear the good news? They arrested Earl Turner.
.
I couldn't tell people my part in this arrest just yet.
.
Joe: I heard. President Duric is making an address tonight.
Nicole: I usually don't listen to political speeches, but I might watch this one. Incidentally, Keith wants to know if you plan to bring your gun to the wedding.
Joe: Ofcourse not.
Nicole: I thought not. He's obsessed with that show "Charlie's Angels." When the three of them got married, they all had their guns at the wedding.
Joe: Please tell me you don't watch that show when you babysit.
Nicole: No, just Sesame Street and Lassie. And the occassional baseball game.
Joe: Good, our child is too young to see that kind of stuff. She should see real heroes, not anti-heroes. And let her believe that the good guys always win, and noone ever gets hurt. I know she won't be able to keep up the illusion forever, but I want to keep it up for awhile.
Nicole: I guess you're right. I'll see you tomorrow.
Joe: See you tomorrow.
.
I took a long shower and went to bed. By this time Michelle had arrived home and promised to let me sleep until tomorrow morning. I did not want to be too drowsy to enjoy my wedding day.
