Daisuke stared at the floor for a bit before finally getting up. He went over to the door, prepared to face the hatred. But when he opened the door, he was met by someone he least expected… Miyuki.
"Miyuki-san?" Daisuke took a quick step back, "ah, you're mom…"
Miyuki interrupted, "you're too tall…"
Daisuke stopped, "w-what?"
Miyuki put her hands on her hips, "you're too tall… like you need to get smaller."
Daisuke blinked before slowly going on one knee. He matched eyes with Miyuki, "t-there…"
Miyuki got close to Daisuke, enough to shock him and make his face red. She pouted quickly.
"W-what?" Daisuke gulped.
Miyuki crossed her arms, "you're not wearing your goggles."
Daisuke stopped once again before chuckling, "right, you only saw me in those years. I gave them to a girl named Rei."
Miyuki's frown faded, "why?"
Daisuke reminisced, "she showed courage and friendship when I couldn't…"
Miyuki's eyes began to brighten, "the goggles mean courage and friendship?"
Daisuke shrugged, "I got them by Taichi-san for being courageous and rescuing your m-" Daisuke stopped when he looked up to see Hikari standing with her arms crossed, frowning.
Miyuki waited before tilting her head and looking back. She jumped, "mommy!?"
Daisuke got up quickly, rubbing the back of his neck. "She asked me about my goggles."
"I heard," Hikari replied back while rolling her eyes. "Did you tell her how Numemon scared you?"
Daisuke continued to rub his neck, "I was going to get to that."
Hikari frowned before looking up at him, "she's right, you're too tall. Get smaller."
Daisuke blinked, "I will try my best."
Miyuki giggled, "you're so funny, Dai-san." Hikari gasped at the name before noticing Miyuki grab his hand. "Let's go see Auntie Miyako bring a baby to this world."
"Wait…" Hikari grabbed onto Daisuke's wrist. Miyuki looked back confused as Hikari explained, "I need to talk to Daisuke-san here. Go on ahead sweetie, we're gonna talk a bit."
Miyuki squinted her eyes, "okay!" she morphed it to a bright smile. "Don't take too long."
She skipped away before Hikari and Daisuke sighed. Then Daisuke became nervous as Hikari crossed her arms, blushing. "Already she likes you and she knew you less than an hour…"
"I don't know why… I didn't tell her anything."
Hikari looked away, "I know you didn't. Look, Daisuke-san, I want to get past this whole thing now. I don't trust you, but I will give you the chance to gain that trust, but only for child support!" She exclaimed.
"Right…"
"I… I am okay… I know you're gonna ask me if I'm okay after that lapse I just had. And I am…"
Daisuke nodded, "right…"
Hikari continued, "and let's just enjoy this day instead. My best friend is gonna have a child soon…"
Daisuke looked forward, "right… she has your smile."
Hikari turned over, confused.
"Miyuki-san, she has your smile."
Hikari frowned, "n-no, she has yours."
Daisuke chuckled, "come on Hikari-san. She has that warm smile with the red blush cheeks you do…" he stopped upon realizing what he said. He glanced over at Hikari who was becoming red.
"Don't get confident…" she grabbed his wrist, shocking him. "Come on…" her voice trailed as she marched, Daisuke following, staring at her hand. But before he knew it, he was back in the living room. Surrounded by people that either hated or hate him. His face dropped as he felt a bit cold, Hikari letting go of his hand didn't help.
He didn't get to properly prepare for this. He could feel the eyes watching him, he froze up for a bit before looking down and to the side.
"Idiot…" Daisuke heard the voice he was fearing a bit. But he calmed when he turned over and looked down at Miyako. Laying while sweating onto a small towel on her forehead. "Too tall…"
Daisuke walked over and knelt down, "sorry."
Miyako glanced over, "for being too tall?"
Daisuke smiled, "for… everything…"
Miyako rolled her eyes, "I'm not some girl whose heart you broke… oh right, I am, but wasn't the one you…" she then glanced over at Miyuki who was getting cookies. "Had fun with…" she seethed.
"I wasn't expecting forgiveness… I just can't say anything else."
Miyako took the towel off, "you can start by beating yourself up."
Daisuke looked over and smirked when Miyako giggled. She then felt a jolt of pain, and Daisuke helped her lay back down.
"Wow… years of thinking about how I'm going to hospitalize you and I am here being cared for by you…" she looked over. "Dummy."
Daisuke looked to the side, "yeah…"
Miyako huffed, "come on… don't give that face anymore." She pat his hand, "you are going to be an uncle… sort of. You won't be allowed to hold my child…"
Ken knelt over and splashed the towel into cool water once again. "Unless Ken-san wants to…" Miyako complained.
Daisuke and Ken shared a look of joy.
Miyako looked over at Daisuke, seriously, "you hurt me…"
Daisuke quickly answered, "I know… you can hate me for the rest of your life."
Miyako chuckled, "ah, so that's how you've been convincing everyone…"
Daisuke blinked confused before smiling, "I… well you know what I'm going to say."
Miyako closed her eyes and sighed, "you deserve it… yeah, yeah." She then opened her eyes and looked over at Ken, "I think the baby hates me."
Ken rubbed her belly, "what makes you say that?"
"It hurts…"
Daisuke looked to the side, "does it like… really hurt?" Miyako raised a brow at him, "I mean…" then suddenly Miyako grit her teeth and huffed out. The breath shortening as she gasped out in pain.
"Ow…" she then yelled, "it hurts!" She clenched her fist, Ken holding as she squeezed.
Both became concerned when Miyako stiffened for a bit and let out a pained gasp. "Miyako-san," Ken spoke up as he clasped her hands. Sweat is dripping down her face intensely now.
Sora knelt over and lifted Miyako's skirt. "I think the baby is about to start crowning…"
Miyako gasped, "it feels like it!" She then yelped.
Everyone began to look worried as Miyako started to gasp and moan in agony.
Sora began to put on gloves and a mask, "if there is anyone here that doesn't want to see the miracle of childbirth… go to the kitchen now…"
Almost immediately Taichi, Koushiro, Yamato, & Iori went to the kitchen.
"Men…" Miyako seethed before arching back, screaming out.
"Is she gonna be okay?" Miyuki popped up beside Daisuke.
"She is honey," Hikari knelt down behind her daughter, moving her back. "No touching Auntie Miyako… she is going to have a baby."
Daisuke looked over at Hikari.
Hikari noticed and looked away, "yeah… this was me when I had you… Miyuki-san." She said to Daisuke, but looked at Miyako.
Miyuki giggled, "maybe prettier."
"I hate you, Motomiya." Miyako glared upward. Once again, possibly towards Daisuke.
Miyuki smiled proudly.
"Enough," Hikari smirked.
Suddenly Miyako tensed and screamed out, turning everyone seriously. Even Miyuki became too stunned to move.
Miyako tried her best to breathe in and out. "You did this to me…" She glared at her husband.
She kept shaking and breathing. Trying to contain her pain, but only to let it out in short bursts. "No…"
Ken began to look worried, seeing Miyako in agony. She said, "I can't…"
Daisuke looked at both before grabbing onto Miyako's hand with Ken. Miyako gasped lightly, looking at Daisuke with a tired look. He squeezed their hands, "Miyako-san, you're strong…" She grit her teeth and yelped loudly once more, almost piercing the sound. "Miyako-san, you're strong! Really strong! I know you are. I'm not worried about you right now cause I know how you are. You are strong…"
Miyako flinched and looked over at Ken, "it hurts."
"I know…" Ken winced and put his head down, "but you are strong. Come on… we have a family to raise."
Miyako yelled out in pain, this time everyone, but Daisuke flinched.
"Miyako-san!" Hikari screamed, grabbing Miyako's hand. "Come on, you're gonna be a mother of a beautiful child… you can do it." Miyako's body shook. Miyuki began to look worried.
Daisuke grit his teeth and squeezed her hand. "I'm sorry, okay, I wasn't there when it mattered. But I am here…" he whispered, just enough for everyone to hear. "I won't let you down anymore…"
Miyako huffed loudly only being able to make sounds now.
Daisuke closed his eyes and squeezed her arm, "you're so much stronger…"
Miyako stopped and suddenly her eyes widened. She didn't yell, but instead grit her teeth. Grunting once very loudly. She gasped out once more before falling back into Ken's arms.
Miyako took a deep breath, looking at the ceiling in a trance.
Ken holding onto his sweat-drenched wife, "Miyako-san…"
Daisuke opened his eyes slowly as the soft whimpers could be heard of a newborn. His eyes slowly wandered over to see Mimi handing Sora a towel. He stopped when he saw a small currently red skinned baby with light thin dark hair as it wailed.
A smile from Miyako, "my baby…" she tried to lift her arms, but couldn't. "It's… my baby."
Ken was forming tears as he looked at his baby and then down at Miyako. "It's your baby…"
"Our… baby…" she said, trying to embrace him, but only barely doing so.
Both their eyes widened when Sora came over, kneeling with the towel up and now cleaned the baby. "It's a little girl…"
Miyako smiled brightly, finding the strength to grab her daughter and put her close to her. "Hinami, little Hinami."
Ken leaned his head, seeing his daughter begin to calm in her mother's arms. "Hinami Ichijouji…"
Daisuke smiled gently and took a sigh of relief. He looked to the side and saw Hikari smiling with a teary eye. The two then shared a look. Both staring in each other's eyes. Then they looked away, but keeping their smile.
January 13th, 2012… the day Hinami Ichijouji was born
