Vader can no longer stay in the observation room watching the medical team work on his son. So, he turns and leaves, heading for his meditation chamber. He enters the chamber and reaches out to the Force. Looking for answers he is sure he will never receive. Soon enough he gives up then as he is about to reach out for his son, he hears a voice.

Hello, Anakin.

Vader looks to where the sound of the voice came from and sees a blue figure. Though he can't see the blue and it appears more like purple because of his photoreceptors the color is similar to that of a holo. He looks at the figure's face and identifies him completely, "Obi-wan," he says as memories of his death run through his head. "You are dead. This has to be some sort of trick. One final push to make me lose everything."

That is not my intention here, Anakin. I am simply here to talk and perhaps answer some questions.

"That is not my name, old man. Anakin Skywalker was weak, I killed him."

Is it not, I thought the person I knew as Anakin Skywalker was dead. Yet I felt his presence, the presence of a person who wanted to get out of the shackles holding him down and run to his son. The presence of the person who has only ever wanted to protect the ones he loves. The person I consider to be my brother.

Vader doesn't know how to respond to Obi-wan's words. What was the dead man getting at?

I may be dead, but that does not mean what I say has no value. I am here to make you realize these things Anakin. Your son needs a father, the only reason that Luke is alive right now is because of the light in you. The reason that your son is alive is because of your love for him.

"How are you here?"

I am part of the force, I go where I am needed and I am needed here. I am needed to help you return to the light.

"It is too late for me, I cannot return to the light." Vader looks away, unable to look at his old master. So much of what he had said was true, but after killing the man in front of him he cannot believe that the man has hope.

All of the sudden there was someone at the door to Vader's chambers. He looked back to where Obi-wan was to find nothing there. He opens the door and turns to face the person who dares disturb him. He is met with the face of Admiral Piett.

"What is it Admiral," Vader demands.

"Lord Vader, the Emporer request that you contact him."

"Very well, continue with your duties Admiral Piett."

Looking back to where Obi-wan was once more he sees nothing yet again. He feels a suppressing sense of dread fill him from the loss of company.

Luke awakens in a dark void with pathways all over the place, he is unable to sense things properly. Almost as if he is sensing everything and nothing at the same time.

Hello, young Skywalker.

Luke hears a voice he does not recognize. "Who are you?"

My name is Qui-gon Jinn, young one.

"What is this place?"

This place is called The World Between Worlds. It is a place within the Force.

"Why am I here?"

You are here because we need to talk.

"Talk about what?"

About what comes next. You will be capable of returning to Dagobah and complete your training with Yoda if you chose. You can stay here with your father, but I must warn you. If you chose to stay with him, he will have no choice but to bring you to the Emporer. You may also choose to leave and return to the Rebel Alliance, and save your friend, Han Solo. These options are yours to choose from.

"What about my father, won't he stop me from leaving?"

No, he wants what is best for you. I believe he would recommend you leave while you can.

"Why," Luke questioned. The only question he could grasp out of the millions of them running through his head.

If you were to stay with him, there is a very real possibility the Emporer will turn you against your father. You will become the Emporer puppet like Vader is now. You will wake soon, and you will have to choose. Think about your possibilities and follow the path you believe is right. Goodbye, young one.

Vader kneels before the hologram of his master, the Emporer. Looking up at his master Vader sees something in on the deformed face. Hate.

"Lord Vader," the Emporer spits venomously. "I ordered you to come to Coruscant once you retrieved the boy. Why have you not left your location if you have captured him?"

"He was gravely wounded when he was captured. The medics did not believe he could survive a hyperspace jump."

"And now? Is he in such a state still that you cannot order the jump?"

"The medics have maintained their statement that it would not be safe. He needs time to recover before his body can be ready for such a thing."

"Did they say how long?"

"They estimate a few days, a month at most once he wakes."

"Very well, I will not have you bring him here. Instead, I will go to you, expect me in 3 weeks' time."

"Yes, my master," Vader says bowing his head to the holo.

"And Vader, keep me updated with his condition until I get there."

"Of course, master."

The hologram shuts off abruptly and Vader stands turning to the door. He must go to the medical chamber and check on his son.

Anakin.

The voice of Obi-wan rings out, not like the more physical voice such as before instead in Vader's mind.

You must not let the Emporer get to him. If he does your son will be lost to you. He is much more susceptible to the dark side than you were. I fear if he turns it may be near impossible for him to return to the light, especially if you are not there.

"Are you implying I would just leave him with the Emporer," Vader demands accusingly.

Do you think the Emporer would let you live with him in his grasp? Surely you must realize that he would kill you, or worse, he would make Luke kill you.

"I would not allow that to happen."

How do you plan to stop the Emporer? Hmm. You know you are too weak to fight him alone. Do you plan on shoving your son, who is hardly trained and far from prepared to assist you in the fight?

"What do you suggest?" Vader's mind fills with anger as more and more thoughts of losing his son coursed through his head. "You can't possibly think I would let him leave. He is here, and I do not intend on losing him."

Anakin, you know the decision is his not yours. The least you can do for him is give him the ability to do as he chooses. Think about it, please. If you were to keep him here against his will there would most likely be some resentment there that the Emporer will play on. You need to think of what is best for him, not what is best for you.
