David lying collapsed in a light, rift-colored dune with blank skies. He woke up, and found himself there. And...
"Mom! Mom!"
Trauma Team is being his mother, Gloria Martinez, into rescue. David's voice can be heard from... a projection. It's a projection replicating the memories, but inside the dune. The vehicles, the bodies, and all the nearly rubbles, can all be found as such.
"Oh no... that's my original..." David realized.
"He's not a client." "Neither is she."
David sighed at the sight, and walked away.
He then saw a door, and he somehow phased through. He saw his ripperdoc having some remote joy... before 'David' entered.
"This is me, the first time implanting with Doc..." David recognized it all.
"I want this fused here. 'Bout time I chrome the fuck up."
Cue the implants. Now having shown how he cyber for the first time in his (original) life, David left.
Then, he saw Lucy stealing chips, and he stopping her.
"It's Lucy... Oh, simple time back then, but from there on out..." David walked away, only to be caught by a projection of his first mission.
David ran away with Sandevistan, only to stumble into a projection of his first meeting with his original crew.
"Maine? Dorio? Pilar?" David recognized. "Oh my god... it's my live..."
The projection disappeared upon contact.
"What?" David is confused.
A limousine, once stolen by David, is shown driving through him. It was a projection of the escape using it.
Another projection presents when David's crew hanging out at the Afterlife bar. Yet another projection shows the original dream David once had. Both those disappeared, leaving a projection of Tanaka Sr. dying while David's crew tries to deal with all of it. Including Maine's cyberpsychosis.
"Maine... no..." David touched the projection (Maine). It all disappeared.
He looked on behind, finding another projection. This one is Julio's sole mission, which has David killing a Sandevistan-equipped brute, and rescuing many civilians.
He leaves through the 'door', and the projection disappears.
"It's just me, then..." David walked away. "Wait... did the memories match up chronologically?"
He then saw a brief glimpse of Tanaka Sr., which quickly turned into a projection of him killing an innocent lab secretary assistant who was a mother of an young man.
"Urgh!" David suddenly showed signs of cyberpsychosis, just like that moment. His irises is shown glitching.
David blinked, and the projection disappeared. He then wandered out and across the dune, in the process seeing the projection of his attack of his Doc of when suggesting scaling down the cybernetics, and that of his recruitment ruined by Lucy, leading to considering breaking up.
"Once Pandora's Box is open, there's no turning back." David eventually saw the invincible prototype skeleton.
A Militech force then arrives thanks to a tip from Faraday, who intends to force David to install the cyberskeleton and use it to destroy the Militech force as a demonstration of its power.
The projection continues, showing David using the cyberskeleton to annihilate the Militech force despite the massive toll it takes on his body, before telling Rebecca and Falco they will go rescue Lucy and get revenge on Faraday.
David ran away, as the projection disappears. He caught up with another projection, showing him and Rebecca and Falco head for Arasaka Tower. All the while, that David's condition continues to deteriorate as he runs out of immunosuppressants. Both the projected version and the real deal begins hallucinating his dead mother and projection's Rebecca struggles to keep him centered.
Eventually, David arrives at the Arasaka Tower. However, it's glitching.
"What's with this?" David looked around.
Nothing else. David enters the tower and saw himself arriving to rescue Lucy, eventually leading to that cyberpsychosis in the process. The real David isn't affected by the clash. The projection shows David rescuing Lucy...
"Lucy, I'm coming!" The real David jumped off, and fell down.
David, having the cybernetics designed properly, managed to land down alive and fine. There, he saw a projection shows David laughing off against Adam Smasher...
"Like I give a shit."
...who then blow his head up. The projection disappeared the moment Smasher shoots. Suddenly...
"Urgh! Argh! Fuck!" David shows the signs of cyberpsychosis again.
David jerked out, and wailed and shaked himself. All the memories flakes before his mind, and then...
"Huh... you...?" David takes the call.
"David..." It's Angela. "I got shown of projections of my memories, my misdeeds, and my... uh..."
"Wait... what's wrong?" Angela asked.
"Ugh... I'm feeling like... urgh... I saw my memories too, and then..." David replied...
He briefly screamed like crazy.
"You're... no... you're... cyberpsychosis!" Angela is horrified.
"What's... going... on...!" David irked.
"You're memories just triggered your cyberpsychosis!?" Angela is scared. "Oh no..."
"Shit... the Rift Goddess is going to..." David realized something.
"My bad end is coming to hunt me-" Then Angela suddenly got cut off of the contact.
"Librarian... No...!" David is shocked.
"Do you want to rule your own fate?" A voice appeared. "Perhaps you'll make the right decision after showing this!"
A projection appeared right in front of David's mind, showing a bubble of realities clumped into a singularity, with the corrupted Zero Point as its center and the throne for a figure. The figure is shown ruling the omniverse, with even the entire dimensions and the concepts kneeling before the figure.
David saw it all, and he ends up freaking so much, not only his irises shown glitching out, his head ended up glitching out the same way too.
Note: Cyberpsychosis is visualized as a character's eyes sporadically glitching out and duplicating. In the early stages, only the irises are affected. Later on, however, may show the entire head vibrating and duplicating.
"Shut up...! Shut up...!!!!! Shut up!!!!!!!!!!" David screamed so hard, it wiped away the projection and crashed the whole dune.
Meanwhile... also in the identical-looking dune...
"Is that..." Angela noticed something. *flashback*
"Now that I have accepted the invitation, there's only two possible outcomes:" The Librarian of Death, Angela. "either I win and bring the book back with me, or you win and I become a book myself."
"If possible... I wouldn't want to fight you at all." Angela politely argued.
"Why's that?" The other Angela questioned. "Don't think you can win?"
"Not at all, I have no intention of losing. It's just..." Angela replied. "Even if you won, and obtained the book that you want so badly... Would that be enough to satisfy you?"
"If you were to get that book... Would that resolve everything?"
Back to the present, and a projection shows the other Angela, the Librarian of Death, and the Sephirah that suffered the meltdown (same outfits, if you're asking).
"Uh oh." Angela noticed.
"Do you want to rule your own fate?" 'Malkuth' while touching her horn. "I could've done it if I wanted to."
The exact same projection David saw were shown to Angela's mind. This staggered the mind of the Head Librarian, leading her to seemingly getting back to complying and obeying, just like before.
"Y... Y... Y... Yes."
"Well then, do you embrace the passage of fate?" The projection of the Librarian of Death and Sephirah Meltdown launched their voices, and disappeared.
"I will. I do-" Angela is hypnotized-
Suddenly, a crack on the sky appeared, projecting David's scream. This snapped Angela.
"What!?" Angela is back to her senses. "What's going on!?"
Angela heard the scream, and the projection disappeared completely.
"David... He's going through... cyberpsychosis!" Angela realized. "And... wait..."
Angela remembered the Rift Goddess, who turns out to have just tried to control Angela again.
"Wait... the Rift Goddess is..." Angela realized something's wrong.
The sky cracks entirely with rifts, and Angela can now call someone again. She decides to call Cross-Dimensional Observation System No. XX.
"Ms. Kousako Kansatsubi!"/"観察美交差子 様!" Angela called System No. XX. "Are you ok!?"
"Ugh! I kinda feeling hypnotic right there, and then..." System No. XX received. "That scream put me out to senses!"
"By the way, I'm turning to my humanoid formation." System No. XX transforms into her human form. "Access time?"
"Phew, David is saving us all!" Angela is relieved.
"Fate converges again. See ya." System No. XX hangs it.
"Finally... there's still hope." Angela sighed in relief.
Meanwhile...
"Ha, yeah! Those resistance fell to my objection!" The Rift Goddess laughed in evil ambition. "And with that, none can stop me now! I'm gonna seize the Zero once and for all, and I will-"
The entire atmospheres around her suddenly vibrates.
"What the...!" The Rift Goddess noticed. "What's this? Should it be possible in the first place!?"
"No, please don't be it." The Rift Goddess thinks about it. "What's with this shit?"
So she swiped the Nexus of all Realities, and found out... David's voice suddenly echoes everywhere in an instant.
"No!" The Rift Goddess is in disbelief. "How could this be!?"
The Rift Goddess is shocked, seeing all her supposed victim getting to their senses altogether.
"Just a repurposed Memory Tunnel, huh?" Deadpool of Fanfictasia commented.
"No! This can't be!" The Rift Goddess is scared.
"You!" Adam Smasher somehow spotted the Rift Goddess. "If you're hearing this, we're not going to pull ourselves a fucking punch!"
On the other perspective, Angela then saw David running around, having gone cyberpsycho from showing his memories.
"Oh no!" Angela then went to David, and used E.G.O. pages to suppress David.
Not long afterwards, David is (non-lethally) knocked down.
"Ah..." *sigh* "Now I know what cyberpsychosis is like..." Angela takes a short break.
Angelica, in particular, seeing how much her death had affected her husband, as well of the facade he was struggling to hold so he can have any semblance of revenge against a machine with similar voice and look to her... scared, she cried. Roland broke out of his part, approached his wife, and hugged her to calm both down. Angela saw both of them in a rather fantastical manner.
Some time later, everyone clears the way to themselves, and all gathered together on the island landed in the dune.
"We finally escaped!" Sheath (re)joiced.
"Thanks goodness..." Lucy is relieved. "Never thought his psyche is capable of bending realities..."
"The memory projections must have eventually driven him to cyberpsychosis." Angela deduced. "I took out magic in order to keep it down in the end. Now he just needs to nap down."
"Not gonna lie, this is risky." Silverhand noted. "Cyberpsycho typically loses their mind for good, and goes indefinitely berserk, basically."
"The main cause of cyberpsychosis would be that the psyches and the organic parts failing against the cybernetics." Reiji explained.
A rift opened alongside David. The woman in blue, who resembles Princess Elise the Third, emerged from the rift, walking along.
"Elise the Third!? I thought you were exiled!" Kogoro noticed.
"No, I am not her." The woman denied. "Elise the Cross..."
"Hey, you!" Adam Smasher targeted Elise-X. "What are you doing here?"
"That man..." Elise-X looked at David. "He's passed his trial, and did not let his rage consume his heart."
"I feel like... My trial is similar to his, only without the rage part..." Yu Narukami noticed.
Elise-X noticed Yu's mind, to his surprise.
"How did you read my mind?" Yu is confused. "And... you're from the Velvet Room?"
"Yes." Elise-X. "And turns out, long ago, you got a similar trial as him, but given by my mentor."
"Margaret is your mentor!?"
The alliance looks at Margaret, who is confused. However, Margaret still smiles anyway.
"Oh, Velvet!" Elise-X noticed.
"I hope she isn't as stereotypical than Mary Sue-" Deadpool of Fanfictasia noted-
"Don't ask, me." Deadpool stopped that.
"So have gained much from your encounters with him." Margaret responded. "I'm glad you learned your lessons on this journey."
Soon, Margaret, Elizabeth and Elise-X talked with each other.
"Ugh..." David woke up.
"David!" Lucy approached David.
"Uh... what's happened?" David is fuzzy.
"You somehow get screwed by your memories, ended up cyberpsycho, and you shouted... breaking the Memory Tunnels of sort." Lucy replied. "You saved us all. You saved everyone."
Jonesy the Great gives David a Senju Bean.
"Eat this." Jonesy the Great told David. "Get back to the shape."
David eats the Senju Bean, instantly recovering.
"Huh? You're..." David noticed.
Elise-X looks at David in amusement. "So you woke up."
"You're the one I met in the Last Velvet!" David recognized Elise-X.
"Yes, indeed." Elise-X confirmed.
"Why did you choose me?" David asked. "I only wanted to keep my legend, stop the Rift Goddess, and move on peacefully!"
"Oh. So you wonder why I chose to accompany you?" Elise-X noticed.
"Yeah. I'm suddenly dragged into all this mess. First up, dragons busted the City of Dreams, then I saw Shinra working with Ouma..." David explained briefly. "Needless to say, everything escalated so quickly."
"I see." Elise-X understood.
"All that, after the scientists from Ouma bright me back to life. I don't know why." David continued. "Why were they there? What's with the Night City that led to those dragons?"
"And most importantly, how was I able to pass the mental trial I was never meant to take in the first place?" David questioned. "And without the Persona, to boot?"
"Oh, so you want to keep reaching the truth and save all worlds with that." Reiji noticed.
"In the end, none of my adventures to date should have been possible." David complained. "I died a legend, and all expect me to die next a... uh... ordinary soldier or something?"
"I just want the truth and the salvation of the omniverse." David concluded. "That's my last deal, period."
"Very well then..." Elise-X responded. "Guess there's no longer any point to hide the facts anymore."
To be continued...
