Hello everyone, I'm back with a new chapter.

Here are some stuff that are sure to transpire in this story:

1. Many of Ash's new and original Pokémon will eventually reach their final forms.

2. Pokémon are able to know six moves, but they can only use four in battle.

3. Silver, Brendan, Wally and Hugh are going to appear in this story as Ash's main rivals. I might add few more game characters.

4. There won't be any shippings whatsoever.

5. Misty won't be tagging along with Ash and Brock in this story since I find it hard to write about her. I hope you guys don't mind.

6. There will be a couple of chapters dedicated to Ash's Pokémon in order to give you a better idea of their personalities.

7. Ash will earn his Gym Badges in this story.

That's about it for now I believe, with all that said I hope this next chapter is something to enjoy.

Disclaimer: I don't own Pokémon at all.

(Outside of Professor Oak's research lab)

Following the battle with his long time rival Gary Oak, Ash is greeted by his mother, who came to show her support along with the other civilians

"Oh Ash, I'm so proud of you," his mother gushed as she let out her radiant smile. "You're finally going to fulfill your dream and start Pokémon training. I'm going to miss you a lot." She wept a little while handing him his backpack.

"Don't worry mom, I'll become a Pokémon Master and do my very best to visit you whenever I can." he promised.

"Say, is that your Starter?" she inquired, referring to the Pokémon beside him." Isn't it suppose to stay inside its Poké Ball?"

"Actually Mom, Pikachu doesn't like being confined inside his Poké Ball." He explained, while observing his starter who was quiet during the whole conversation. "Guess I'll be going then, goodbye Mom." He hugged her close, reassuring her that everything would be okay. As he let go, Ash made his departure from the town with Pikachu tagging along behind him albeit reluctantly. All of the citizens were cheering and wishing him good luck, allowing Ash to form a smile on his countenance and wave goodbye to his people.

(Beyond the outskirts of Pallet Town)

As soon as Ash and Pikachu arrived at the outskirts of Pallet Town, they were quickly on their way to Viridian City. Ash was feeling a bit eager to catch his first Pokémon even though it was raining and Pikachu is just wandering behind him at a slower pace. Ash made an effort to bond with him many times during their walk, but the Pokémon would just look away without saying a word. He knew getting Pikachu to open up might take a while. He then saw a Spearow hiding behind some grass nearby. He scanned it with his Pokédex to find out more about it.

Spearow, the Tiny Bird Pokémon. It flaps its small wings busily to fly. Using its beak, it searches in grass for prey.

He looked at Pikachu who once again looked away, realizing that he has no choice but to catch this one by himself. He is hoping that just a Poké Ball will be enough to the catch Pokémon, but he knows that if he fails in catching it, he might get attacked by the Spearow. He threw the Poké Ball at Spearow with a lot of force. The sphere hit the Pokémon's head, turning it into a bright flash of red light, sucking it inside. The Poké Ball landed on the ground and began shaking. Ash looked at the ball carefully, trying not to make any sudden movements. However, the Spearow broke free and it wasn't happy. The angry-looking bird was flying towards them and instead of striking Ash, but instead it hit Pikachu. Pikachu was able to recover from the blow by flipping in the air and landing on his two feet. The mouse swiftly unleashed a powerful Thunder Shock at the Spearow, electrocuting the bird. It fell to the ground seemingly beaten, but the Pokémon got back up quickly .

Suddenly, the bird began to cry loudly, taking Ash and Pikachu by surprise. They realized what the bird was trying to do, as they witnessed a flock of Spearow flying out of a nearby tree. The two knew that they would not be able to compete against the whole flock, so they made a break for it. They weren't letting up and Pikachu decided to run even faster which made him an easy target for the flock. The flock attacked Pikachu repeatedly and Ash couldn't bear to see his Pokémon in pain like that, so he jumped in front of Pikachu and told the Spearow to leave them alone.

"Please Pikachu, go inside the Poké Ball, it's the only place where you will be safe," Ash requested in concern for his partner. Pikachu glanced at his trainer who was taking all the hits that were meant for him and he didn't want to live with the conscience that he allowed Ash to get hurt. He quickly pushed Ash out of the way from further harm and upon being struck by a lightning that came from the sky he let out a massive Thunder Shock at the flock. The flock of Spearow were blasted away in every direction. Pikachu smiled at his accomplishment and was about fall to the ground in exhaustion but Ash caught him in his arms just in time. It had stopped raining and a strange golden Pokémon appeared above in the sky flying towards the rainbow. The Pokédex couldn't identify it, but Ash decided not to worry about it. The boy started walking in hopes of finding a place to restore his Pikachu back to full health. Pikachu who was being carried in his arms was tiredly observingly him. He finally understood that Ash truly cared for him and he's glad that this boy is his trainer.

(Viridian City)

Eventually, Ash and Pikachu arrived at the Viridian City's Pokémon Center. Earlier they were stopped by the Town's Officer Jenny who asked Ash to show his ID. Ash showed her the Pokédex and she revealed that some Pokémon poachers have been seen in this area. She said that it was her duty to make sure everything is safe in this town. Ash asked if she could help him get to the Pokémon Center, and she agreed. They rode her motorcycle to the Pokémon Center, arriving at night time. When the Nurse Joy found out that Pikachu was hurt, she took him right away to the critical care unit

Currently, Ash is waiting for Pikachu to get better in the waiting room. He was sad since it was his fault that Pikachu got hurt and that it may take some time for him to be healthy again. He called home using the video phone. The TV screen lit up and showed his mother's face, indicating that she had answered his call.

"Hello, Mom." Ash greeted his mother with a dispirited look on his face.

"Hi, Ash," she replied with cheerfulness. Then she noticed that Ash was looking a bit miserable. "Are you alright, Ash?"

"Mom, Pikachu got hurt and it's my fault he ended up like this." Ash lamented, telling her about Pikachu's current condition.

"What? How did that happen?" Delia asked anxiously.

He explained everything to her and needless to say, his mother was shocked by the fact that something like this would happen on her son's first day as a trainer.

"Hey Ash, Pikachu is fine and I know that being a Pokémon Trainer is hard, but try not to overdo it next time." she advised. He nodded and they both said their goodbye for the day. Ash then sees Nurse Joy returning with Pikachu who was resting on a stretcher and runs to her. He asked her if Pikachu was okay and Nurse Joy replied that everything was fine and Pikachu just needed some rest. Ash let out a sigh of relief and in the next moment he could hear the sound of an alarm. Officer Jenny warned everyone in Viridian City about a mischievous group of thieves who were spotted in an hot air balloon.

Suddenly, without warning, two Poké Balls burst through the skylight, landed on the floor, and the creatures inside the balls were released. As soon as they materialized, one of them filled the air with thick smoke. Behind the smoke stood two shadowy figures that turned out to be a man and a woman. As the smoke cleared Ash could see more of their features as the man had lavender hair and green eyes while the woman had long magenta hair and blue eyes. Both were dressed in white uniforms with a large red R on their shirts.

"Who are you weirdos?" Ash asked in confusion looking at the intruders.

"Don't be afraid, little boy." the woman reassured the confused kid

"Allow us to introduce ourselves." The man suggested.

"Prepare for trouble!"

"Make it double!"

"To protect the world from devastation!"

"To unite all peoples within our nation!"

"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"

"To extend our reach to the stars above!"

"Jessie!"

"James!"

"Team Rocket blasts of at the speed of light!"

"Surrender now or prepare to fight!"

"Meowth! That's right!" came from a talking Meowth appearing out of nowhere in front of the two Team Rocket members. They were also joined by an Ekans and a Koffing.

"Wait! That Meowth can talk!" Ash said after noticing that the could talk.

"Yes I can," answered the talking Meowth. "Now that we got that out of the way, we're here for your Pokémon."

"No way am I going to hand over Pikachu to you lunatics!" Ash refused to let his Pokémon be in their captivity.

"Pikachu? Why would we even bother with that weak electric rat," Jessie snorted. "I'm running out of patience, Ekans attack."

"You too Koffing." James ordered his Pokémon to attack them. Ash, Nurse Joy and Pikachu who was still lying on the stretcher made a break for it. They reach the storage room, but not even a second later, the electrical power in the Pokémon Center was cut off, making Nurse Joy resort to activating their backup system, the Pika-Power. Immediately as the power returned, Nurse Joy initiated the emergency Poké Ball transport sequence. She begins transporting as many Poké Balls as possible to the Pokémon Center in Pewter City to ensure that Team Rocket won't get their hands on them. Unfortunately, she only manages to transport a few before Koffing bursts through the doors and knocks a shelf, scattering the Pokéballs on it all over the floor.

"Quick Ash, we need to get those Poké Balls." cried Nurse Joy. Just as Ash was ready to collect one, Ekans stood in his way and hissed, causing Ash to fall backwards in order to keep himself away from the snake. He made contact with Pikachu's stretcher, causing the said Pokémon to wake up from his slumber. The other Pikachu in the Pokémon Center surrounded Ash's Pikachu, trying to help him heal by channeling their electricity. The combined electricity was powerful enough to reach Team Rocket even though they were standing far away. Ash's Pikachu stood above the pile of Pikachu that were lying on the stretcher, showing that he was back to full strength.

"Pikachu, I'm glad you're okay, but we have to get rid of these lunatics." Ash informed his partner on what they need to do. Pikachu understood and jumped, landing on the floor in front of Ash. Pikachu stood on all fours and motioned for the intruders attack him instead of his trainer and Nurse Joy.

"Hmph, so we'll settle this with a good old Pokémon Battle," Jessie asks to no one in particular." Okay, so let's see how this rat can handle both Ekans and Koffing at the same time."

"Even though we won the battle against Gary, me and Pikachu weren't working together, but this time will be different," Ash decidedly thought to himself as he focused his gaze on Pikachu, who turned to him and smile, causing Ash to smile as well. "Let's go Pikachu! Use Thunder Shock on Ekans!"

"Pika, pika, chu." Pikachu stood up and fired a bolt of lightning towards Ekans, successfully hitting the snake.

"Ekans strike back with Bite!" but to her dismay Ekans didn't move and she immediately knew why when she saw electrical sparks surrounding her precious Pokémon's body. "No way, Ekans is paralyzed."

"Don't worry, I got this, Koffing use Sludge." James commanded. His Koffing obeyed immediately as he spewed out dark brown sludge from his mouth and directed it at his opponent.

"Pikachu, dodge and use Thunder Shock on Koffing!" Ash instructed.

The mouse rolled to the side to avoid the incoming attack and fired another bolt of lightning at the sphere Pokémon. Koffing screamed in pain, staggering backwards through the air.

"We have to end this quickly! Ekans use Bite and subdue that Pikachu." Jessie commanded wanting to end this battle as fast as possible, yet once again Ekans was held back by electrical sparks.

"We need to get rid of Ekans first and then take down Koffing," Ash figured that it would be most beneficial to get rid of Ekans now instead of later. "Pikachu! Use Thunder Shock one more time on Ekans!"

Pikachu surrounded himself with a yellow glow, ready to discharge an even more powerful lightning bolt at the snake. Ekans tried his best to move out of the way, yet the electrical sparks held him back. He knew there was nothing he could do except taking the incoming attack head on. Pikachu finally stopped glowing and let out a Thunder Shock directed at the snake. As soon as it made contact, Ekans was instantly electrocuted as he was surprised at how much power this mouse contained. After a few seconds, the attack dissipated and Ekans tried not to pass out, but the pain was too much for him. He took a long look at Pikachu, who was also staring at him. Ekans will acknowledge his defeat for now, succumbing to the pain he fell to the floor.

"Ekans!" cried Jessie. Seeing the passed out Pokémon lose without being able to fight back made her feel disheartened, but now she knows that this Pikachu is a much more powerful than she gave it credit for. She returned her Pokémon to his Poké Ball and stared angrily at Ash for defeating her precious Pokémon. "Okay! Now you asked for it! Meowth, it's your turn to help since you're a cat and Pikachu is a mouse if you catch my drift."

"Fine, I guess I'll get revenge for Ekans and finish this Pikachu for you." Meowth yawned. The cat started moving forward for a moment, but stopped when there was enough distance between him and Pikachu. "Hey Pikachu! Wouldn't it be a lot easier if you let us take you and the rest of the Pokémon from this Pokémon Center. Then we wouldn't have to fight this pointless battle because you'll lose anyway. We can do it the easy way or the hard way! Are you willing to come with us or are we going to take you by force!"

"Pika, Pika, Chu!" Pikachu countered not wanting anything to do with them."

"So, you wanna fight? Here I thought you were smart enough to know what you were dealing with. Judging by the fact that I'm a cat and you're a mouse, we both know who's superior."

"Enough! Let's just end this battle as quickly as possible!" Ash said impatiently, wanting to get this all over with.

"I agree, Koffing use Sludge!" James ordered.

"You too Meowth! Use Scratch!" Jessie joined in.

"Dodge the attacks Pikachu!" Ash told his Starter not wanting him to take too much damage.

Pikachu was able to avoid the approaching Sludge by jumping backwards, however, Meowth was already behind him, carrying an evil grin. Pikachu tried to turn his head, but Meowth's left claw glowed white, and he slashed Pikachu's back with the same claw. Pikachu was sent flying face-first on the floor.

"Pikachu!" Ash called worriedly.

Pikachu quickly stood up and prepared himself to release his power again.

"I need to figure out a way for us to win, but the only question is how?" Ash looked at his Pokémon as Meowth stood in front of him ready to attack again with Koffing hovering behind Pikachu. "Wait! That's it! If the two unleash their attacks at the same time, I'll have Pikachu jump to land behind Meowth and he will be the one cat take the hit instead, and then I can use another Thunder Shock to seal the deal. Alright, I'll just hope that they decide to attack together."

"At last! Let's finish this Meowth! Use Scratch!" Jessie commanded.

"Koffing! Use Sludge and make sure it hits that rat." James instructed.

Meowth dashed towards Pikachu and Koffing spat out another Sludge attack. As Meowth was only a few steps away from Pikachu, who was ready to fend him off.

"Pikachu use your tail to spring yourself upwards!" Ash directed his Pokémon to jump up in the air.

"Say WHAT!" the human Team Rocket members shouted in unison.

"Oh no!" Meowth knew what that would mean for him if Pikachu jumps.

In less than a second Pikachu jumped off the floor using his tail. That left Meowth to take the incoming Sludge head on, but unfortunately for the feline, the attack hurt a lot.

"No way! He outmaneuvered us!" Jessie was quite shocked by this development.

"It's all over." James stated.

"You're damn right, it's over! Pikachu use Thunder Shock!" Ash ordered his Pokémon to deliver the finishing blow.

Pikachu followed suit and put all his energy into this next one,. When he had finished powering up, he let out a concentrated beam of electricity at his foes, who weren't able to move out of the way in time. This lightning bolt not only reached Meowth and Koffing, but also struck Jessie and James as well. Somehow the electrical attack was powerful enough to send them all flying through the roof into the sky.

When everything was clear, Ash and Pikachu both looked at each other in amazement and finally registered the fact that they had won their first battle together as a real team. The two rushed to each other and hugged, knowing that they're gonna win even more battles during their journey.

(Near Viridian Forest)

Ash and Pikachu were happily walking and chatting with Pikachu sitting on his right shoulder. They finally caught sight of the entrance that stood between them and Pewter City, the Viridian Forest. Taking a deep breath, they were about to walk inside until Ash spotted a Pokémon hiding behind the grass. Ash moved over to see what Pokémon it was. The creature hiding behind the grass knew it had been detected and decided to make itself known. The Pokémon jumped out of the grass, causing Ash to stop and watch the newcomer. The Pokémon currently standing in front of him was a male Nidoran. He knew it was a male, not a female, owing to the fact that he visited Professor Oak's Corral many times as a kid. The Professor taught him that the pink-purple Nidoran, just like the one right before him, is the male version and a blue-colored Nidoran is the female version. Ever since then, Ash wanted to get a Nidoran for himself one day, and today might be his chance to do so.

"Hey Pikachu. Let's catch this Nidoran, he'd be a great addition to our team, right?" Ash told Pikachu about his desire to catch the Pokémon before them. Pikachu nodded happily and jumped off his shoulder. "Alright Nidoran, if we win you'll join us in our adventure, is that okay?"

Nidoran didn't answer, focusing all his attention on the electric mouse. Then suddenly, without warning, his horn glowed white and he charged at Pikachu. Nidoran strongly landed his horn against Pikachu's abdomen sending him flying upwards, but Pikachu managed to correct himself in the air and land on the ground with his two feet.

"Damn! I didn't expect him to make the first move. Anyway, the move you used just now was Peck, wasn't it?" Ash questioned the Poison Pin Pokémon who simply nodded. "Awesome, Pikachu use Thunder Shock!"

The mouse aimed a quick lightning bolt at the Nidoran, who staggered backwards upon contact. It then opened its mouth and several purple darts came out and headed towards Pikachu.

"That's Poison Sting! Avoid those darts Pikachu, then use Thunder Shock again."

Just as the arrows were about to reach him, Pikachu moved to the left letting the darts hit the grass and swiftly launched another Thunder Shock at the wild Pokémon. This time, the attack was enough to send Nidoran skidding across the ground for a moment. The Poison Pin Pokémon tried to stand up, yet Ash had already turned his hat backwards and brought an empty Poké Ball from his pocket, Ash was ready to catch the weakened Pokémon.

"This is it! Go Poké Ball!" Ash accurately threw the Poké Ball directly at Nidoran, sucking him inside the sphere. The Ball fell to the ground and vibrated a few times with the last vibration causing the ball to glow red. The orb stopped shaking and there was a dinging sound that indicated that Ash had successfully captured the Nidoran. It took him a few minutes to realize what he had just accomplished.

"No way! We did it Pikachu! We caught our first Pokémon together!" Both Ash and Pikachu were very happy to see a new Pokémon joining their team. Ash released Nidoran from his Poké Ball, to greet it. "Hey Nidoran, welcome to the team." Ash held out his hand to the newcomer, who gladly reciprocated his gentle gesture. Pikachu went over to them to introduce himself to Nidoran. He offered a handshake, which the Poison Pin Pokémon happily accepted. The three of them hugged as a group and laughed together as another milestone in their journey was accomplished.

That's it for this chapter. I wanted Ash to catch a Nidoran in this fic due to my personal fondness for it and that it would be a useful Pokémon for the upcoming battle against Brock in the next chapter. From now on, I've decided to cover 3-5 episodes per chapter so I might have the Cerulean gym battle in the upcoming chapter as well.

Ash's Team:

Pikachu (M): Thunder Shock

Nidoran (M):Poison Sting, Peck

I have a question for you guys.

Who is Pikachu's greatest rival?

Meowth, Eevee, Raichu or Electivire.

Anyways, it might take me a few more weeks to get the next chapter out, but I'll try my best to post it before January.
