Ash, who aims to defeat the World Monarch, Leon, and Goh, who dreams of catching every Pokemon to work his way up to Mew, this is the story of their lovelife and adventures.

Ash's POV:

After spending all night paralyzed in bed, Ash had woken up and was currently outside jogging with his friend Goh by his side. "One, two! One, two!" Ash said as he was jogging, Goh trying to catch up behind him, struggling due to being much less athletic than Ash. Their jog however was interrupted when Ash got a battle request for the World Coronation Series. Finally, a chance to get revenge after his loss against Bea! A 1v1, his Riolu against his opponents Octillery. And Ash ended up losing. His rank dropped down to 975, which hurt to see. His spirit was lifted however, when he received another request for a battle! He would surely win this time! Another 1v1, his Riolu against a Tentacruel. And once again he lost, dropping his rank all the way down to 1021. "I-I've dropped from the Great Class back to the Normal Class..." Ash said, looking down in shame. This was unbelievable. Ash was crushed. He curled into a ball and despite Goh's protests, refused to move. Goh had to carry him all the way back to the Cerise Lab. Back there, they got word of some kind of sandstorm in the Hoenn Region they were sent to investigate. Ash's friend, Goh, was excited to investigate, but Ash was still too ashamed to do anything. "I dropped a Class... Dropped a Class..." Ash kept repeating as he was curled into a ball in the corner of the room. "Hey now! Cheer up!" Goh tried to cheer Ash up, to no avail. "Come on, you've lost a few times, but so what?" "Yeah, I lost. Three times in a row, at that!" Ash told Goh, on the verge of tears. "At this rate, challenging Mr. Leon will be a dream within another dream..." Ash said. "What are you saying Ash?" Goh said, as he was practically dragging Ash to come along with him. "I just know meeting a rare Pokemon will get you all fired up!" Goh told him as he dragged Ash outside of the lab. Ash still refused to move. Goh had to practically drag him all the way to the plane, and after the flight to Hoenn, Goh gave up dragging him and had picked up Ash in his arms, bringing him all the way to their destination, the sandstorm. "Whoa, the city's totally buried in sand! If this really is a Pokemon's handiwork, then that's amazing, yeah?" Goh kept trying to stir up a conversation with Ash, but he was not responding. Ash appreciated Goh's kindness towards him, but nothing was more important to Ash than battling, and Goh was always too focused on catching to understand. "Get it together, Ash!" Goh told Ash, who was still too ashamed to do anything. "We're just about to go investigating!" "Right... Sorry..." Ash told Goh. Suddenly, a strange sound was heard coming from the sandstorm. "It kinda feels like it's calling for us" Ash said, slightly cheered up now. "Lets go inside!" Ash said, completely fired up. "Oh! There's the Ash I know!" Goh said, and together they put on Go-Go Goggles to protect their eyes from the sand, and went inside the sandstorm. Inside, the entire place had turned into a literal desert. "Someone help!" A voice shouted, and Ash and Goh discovered people who had fallen inside a pithole leading directly into a Trapinch's mouth. "The only way to save them is to catch it!" Goh said, throwing his Pokeball and catching the Trapinch. Obviously, Ash could tell he was eventually going to end up on the receiving end of Goh's pranks, him being the one falling down to Trapinch's mouth, but for now he put those thoughts aside and helped get the people out. Afterwards, Ash and Goh encountered a Vibrava, which attacked them with Supersonic waves, before being caught by Goh. Once again, Ash could tell he was going to be on the receiving end of that attack in the near future, but didn't dwell on the thought for too long. Ash wasn't the type of person to dwell on one thought, and he would often forget Goh even pranked him in the first place. For now however, he was happy for his friend who managed to catch another Pokemon. "You did it Goh!" Ash said, congratulating his friend. "Hold on. Trapinch evolves into Vibrava, which then evolves into..." Goh said, before a Flygon emerged from underneath the sand. "Ash, help me battle it!" Goh told Ash. 'Wow' Ash thought. 'Goh wanting to battle! You don't see that a lot!' Ash said, happy that his friend was starting to develop the same love that Ash had for battles. However, Ash wasn't too keen in participating in one at the moment. He was still overwhelmed by his three losses in a row, and was doubting his abilities to defeat Flygon. Goh sent out his Sobble, and Ash sent out his Pikachu. "Thunderbolt!" Ash commanded Pikachu, who hit Flygon with that attack, for some reason not dealing any damage. "Ash! Flygon is a Ground type! Electric moves won't affect it!" Goh reminded Ash. "Oh, of course! What am I doing?" Ash said, placing his right arm behind his head, totally embarrassing himself in front of Goh. And not even the "embarrassing" that Goh usually brought on Ash as a means of entertainment, it was the "embarrassing" of Ash feeling like he let Goh down. Ash recalled Pikachu, and sent out Riolu, who was unable to hit Flygon due to the sandstorm it was using to shield itself. Goh then commanded Sobble to use Water Gun, which destroyed the Sandstorm. "Oh! You were trying to harden the sand with water?" Ash said, surprised by Goh's battling skills. Goh was better at battles than Ash thought. He was actually kinda cool, Ash was impressed. Ash then tried to attack Flygon with his Riolu, but was unable to hit it. Had he lost his skills at battling? Had he become too incompetent to be able to fight even a simple Flygon? He lost three battles in a row, what stopped that number from increasing to ten? A hundred? A thousand? "What am I gonna do?!" Ash said, scratching his head. "Here it comes Ash!" Goh shouted, breaking Ash out of his trance, as Flygon attacked Ash, sending him way back, covered in sand. "Are you okay, Ash?!" Goh asked, but Ash didn't respond. He wasn't even sure if he was okay. He wasn't sure if he would ever BE okay. Ash couldn't fight anymore. He was too weak. He just sat there in same, watching as Goh attempted to battle Flygon on his own. Ash already knew Goh would lose. He wanted Goh to win, but not only was Goh not nearly experienced enough, Ash must have bummed Goh out too much for him to be able to score a win. Ash was so incompetent he ended up affecting his friend. He watched as Goh's Raboot fought against Flygon. First it used Double Kick, scoring a direct hit. Not bad. After that, Flygon hid under the sand and was preparing to surprise attack Raboot. No way Goh could escape this, he was doomed. Ash watched, as he knew his friend was about to have his goal of catching Flygon crushed. Then Flygon came up and... Raboot dodged it?! No way! "You dodged if?! Raboot, that's amazing!" Ash told his friend's Pokemon, impressed by it's skills. "Now! Ember!" Goh said, Raboot doing so, only to end up missing. Here it was. Goh put up a good fight, but he was about to fail, because of Ash's incompetence. Ash hoped that Goh would realize he couldn't win and give up, but Goh kept persevering. And for some reason... that brought Ash some kind of feeling he couldn't describe. Seeing Goh like that, not giving up. "It's no use... Flygon is so much faster!" Ash tried explaining to his friend, who refused to listen, and kept trying. Then, Flygon looked up, and shot a Draco Meteor. This was surely it. Raboot couldn't escape this, one hit and it would be over. Ash watched in terror as Raboot... dodged it? Impressive, but it had just started, the attack would keep raining down until it hit Raboot. "Don't get too far away! Dodge while moving in!" Goh told his Pokemon. "Why?! That's crazy!" Ash said to him. Had Goh turned insane? He was digging his own grave as far as Ash was concerned. But... Goh kept trying. Ash didn't understand why. 'What? What is Goh thinking?' Ash thought to himself, trying to make sense of it all. "Now! Use the Draco Meteors as footing and close in!" Goh told his Raboot. "What?!" Ash exclaimed, and then watched as Raboot jumped on the Draco Meteors without fail. Ash couldn't have been more impressed. Goh and Raboot were amazing! Ash clearly underestimated Goh earlier. Seeing him now, Goh was great, courageous, brave, smart, handsome, unb- wait. What was that last one? Handsome? Ash had no idea why that thought came to mind. Goh wasn't handsome. Not that he wasn't of course. Wait, that didn't make sense. Either he is or he isn't. Is he? Ash thought, taking a look at Goh. He wasn't... not. He was... was... yeah, he was. Wow, Ash had a handsome friend. He had to admit, it was pretty cool. He kept watching Raboot as it managed to climb all the way to the top and with an Ember knocked out Flygon, allowing "the handsome" Goh to catch it. "Jumping on top of the meteors and using them for Ember... That's such a crazy tactic!" Ash said, impressed. His friend was both handsome, smart, and crazy. "What are you on about? You're the one who taught it to me" Goh told Ash. "No matter how crazy you have to be, never stop striving for victory. I figured this was the kind of thing you'd normally do" Goh told Ash. Ash was astounded. He felt... he felt... he didn't know. He was just staring at his handsome, smart, crazy friend... "friend"... Ash thought, focusing on that last word. Ash thought about it for a bit. Goh was... well... Ash kept trying to beat around the bush, but he couldn't find an alternative. The words he was looking for were "boyfriend material". Ash had recently discovered he was gay, and now knew he would want to find a boyfriend who was like Goh. Handsome, smart, crazy. But where could he find someone like Goh? Ash thought for a moment, before realizing, the answer was staring him right in the face, literally. The only person like Goh, was Goh, who was right in front of Ash. That was the moment Ash realized, he loved Goh. "I see" Ash told his fr- Goh, Ash told Goh. Ash wanted to confess to Goh, tell him that he loved him, but was worried he would push Goh away. He didn't want to hurt Goh, especially when Goh had been treating him and taking care of him all day, and Ash was just thinking that Goh wanted to prank him at any chance he got. Ash felt like such a jerk to Goh, and if he told Goh he loved him, he would surely push Goh away. He couldn't handle that, and simply hid his feelings from Goh instead. Ash looked around him, at the desert wasteland, and started giggling, turning into a laugh as he lay on the sand, his Pokemon by his side. "I sure am stupid" Ash said, and together with Goh, the boy he loved, they went back home.
