Footsteps chased her down the hall.
She opened the door and locked it behind her.
She slid down the wall… then complete blackness followed.
There was a sharp knock on the door. Vanessa bolted upright in her bed and looked at the door, her heart pounding. She slowly slid her legs over the side of her bed and then she got up. She walked over to the door, on her way she grabbed her housecoat and wrapped it around herself, and then she opened the door.
"Michael!" Vanessa exclaimed, relief flooded through her.
"I woke you up didn't I?" Michael asked sheepishly. Shaking his head so that his black hair would get out of his eyes, rather than pushing it back with his hand.
"No" said Vanessa. "I should've been up anyway." She glanced at her clock; it was flashing 12:00. She moaned, the power must've gone out sometime that night. "Want to come into my room?" she asked, even though she knew it probably sounded incredibly lame.
"Sure," said Michael as he walked inside her bedroom. Then he sat down on her computer chair.
Vanessa moaned again when she realized that her whole writing assignment was now gone, it had taken her all weekend. Now she only had one day.
"So where were you last night?" Michael asked.
Vanessa walked over to her bed and sat down. She tried to remember what exactly she did, but her memory was cloudy. "I…. Uh… I went and hung out with Catty 'till really late…" she lied.
Michael nodded. "Your mom let me in by the way," he said, "She just left. She told me to tell you she said that she loves you and that suppers in the fridge."
Vanessa just nodded. "Umm… I'm going to have a shower. You can watch TV, eat, sleep, do whatever," she said.
With that she got up and got her clothes for the day and went into the bathroom. She turned on the water and stepped in. Her blonde hair flowing over her shoulders. Once she finished her shower she got out and dried off. She then got dressed in a denim mini-skirt and a light pink halter-top. She dried her hair and left it down, then she walked back into her room to find Michael taking a nap on her bed. She smiled and walked over to the bed and laid down beside him.
When Vanessa laid down beside Michael his eyes fluttered open. She smiled softly at him and he smiled back at her.
"You want to go down to the beach?" he asked her.
"Yeah sure," Vanessa replied, "I can sing you some of the lyrics I've been working on while were there if you want."
Michael smiled and got off the bed. "That'd be great," he said then helped Vanessa off the bed.
They both walked down the stairs. Vanessa put on a pair of soft pink and blue flip-flops and Michael put on his black sandals. They walked out the door and got into his Van.
