"Zane Grey?" Rey inquired skeptically.
"What's a matter with Zane Grey?" Lennie countered defensively.
"Nothing, but you don't strike me as a fan of Westerns. I thought you'd read Dashiell Hammett or Raymond Chandler or maybe Mickey Spillane.
"Reading those guys is like work. Reading Zane Grey reminds me of this fella I worked with in an exchange program. He was supposed to learn how things were done in the big city, instead deputy Sam McCloud taught us how things are done in Taos," Lennie answered, mimicking his old friend's drawl.
"Sounds like you admired the marshal from New Mexico," Rey surmised.
Lennie smiled, and pretending to push up an imaginary Stetson added, "There you go."
