Chapter 3
"Huh? Well...ah..." Kyaru was a bit startled to see all these people all of a sudden appear and then some guy yelling at her. "Hey! What gives you the right to talk to me like that?"
"I've got every damn right to talk anyway I want! Now tell us, who are you and where did you come from?!"
"Well...if you must know! My name is Kyaru Honami. I'm from Mission Viejo." (Pronounced Vee-eh-ho. Oh yeah..it's in california)
"What?"
"I said I'm from Mission Viejo! Presumably we're near the town right?"
Inu-Yasha had no idea what the girl was talking about. This mission viejo. She must be on some sort of mission. Maybe to find the shikon shards? Many want them to grow in strength and all. But... there was something about her. He couldn't quite put his finger on it.
"Ah! So you guys finally decided to come out! As you can see the girl's harmless!" Miroku then started to look the girl over. First he'd be in front of her then in a flash behind her then at her side. 'What the hell is this guy doing?'
"Uhm...Lady Kyaru?"
"Yes? Oh! I forgot to ask you...what's your name?"
"Ah. My name is Miroku. And my friends here are Sango, Shippo and Inu- Yasha. Now I'd like to ask you something."
"Sure. Go on."
"Will you bear my child?" A Big sweatdrop appeared at the back of Kyaru's head. She started to back away slowly until her legs bumped against the well. "Aah!" She cried. She flailed her arms in the air trying not to fall down.
"So...is that a yes or a no?"
"Uhm..uh...are you serious? Or...are you joking or something?"
"No I'm serious!Why would I joke about such a matter?"
"...I see...well...I'd love to have your child...but..uh...I can't! "
"Why not?"
"Because...uh...well...I have school! Yes! School! And...I have tests! And exams! And...If I had a child, I couldn't...uh...study! Yes. Study for these tests! So I guess having a child is out for me! Uh..hah..hah!" Kyaru was kind of freaked out. Who in their right minds would want a child at such an early age!
* * * * *
"...And...I have tests! And exams! And...If I had a child, I couldn't...uh...study! Yes. Study for these tests! So I guess having a child is out for me! Uh..hah..hah!"
"Eh? Did you say tests?" Inu-Yasha now started to eye the girl with suspiciously.
"Oh. Yeah. What about them?...Why are you looking at me that way?"
"Tell me. What are these 'test' things and 'exam' things? " He got up and started to walk over to Kyaru.
"Uhm...well...It's when...You see how much you've learned on a particular subject. And you get marked. The higher the mark the better." Unconsciously Kyaru dug into her pocket for her lip balm. Her hand closed over a cool surface. It was her pendant. So she decided to put the necklace on.
'She must be a girl from the future then.' Inu-Yasha thought. He started to think of how she might have gotten here to the feudal age.
"Did you come out of the Bone-eaters well?" He asked.
"The what well?" She raised an eyebrow.
"The well you are currently sitting on."
"Uh no."
"Hey! If you didn't come through the well how did you get here? Kagome only comes through the well. It's the only way you know!" Shippo asked her.
"Well...one moment I was at home. Then the next I was here. There's no well near my house." "That's strange. You didn't do anything before coming here?"
"Nope. Well actually..."
"Yes...." Everybody leaned closer to listen.
"I was trying on a necklace my friend bought. And when I took it off. I started to disappear."
* * * * * *
"Bye mom! I'm going now!"
"Good bye Kagome! Be careful." Kagome had just arrived from school. She took her bag and went off. Down the well she went. She appeared in the well obviously in the past. "Boy! Won't Inu-Yasha be happy when he finds out I got him all the ramen in the store!" She laughed to herself. It was like an inside joke. She climbed up the well to see everybody there. Good. She didn't have to go to the village to get them. But then she noticed there was another person there. It was a girl and everybody was huddled around her.
* * * * * *
"Oh hello Kagome!" Sango smiled.
"Uh hi. Who's the new girl?" She looked at the girl. She almost looked like Kagome. But the keyword was almost. She was pretty short. And her eyes were brown.
"Hi! My name's Kyaru Honami! Pleased to meet you!"
"Likewise." Kagome then got a troubled look on her face. She started to stare at Kyaru. 'There's something about this girl. What is it...'
" A shikon shard!" Inu-Yasha's attention was suddenly on Kagome as she said those three words. Shikon shard. Where was it?
"How did you get here?" Kagome asked the girl.
"I was holding my necklace and I started to disappear then I was here."
"Can I see your necklace?"
"Sure"
* * * * * *
Kyaru took her necklace off and gave it to Kagome. Kagome gasped when she saw it. The crystal diamond in the middle was no doubt a shikon shard! But how did this girl get it?
"Where did you get this?"
"At the jewelry shop." Kagome looked at it more closely then gave it to Inu- Yasha. Who also started to look at it. Then noticing what it was he tried to pry it off with his clawed nails.
"Hey! What do you think you're doing?!" Kyaru exclaimed. Why was this guy taking off probably the nicest part of the pendant.
"Give that back!" She snatched the pendant out of his hands before he could pry it off. "The nerve! What is it with you people?! You want a crystal diamond go get one yourself!" She then stormed off into the woods.
"Uh...shouldn't we go after her?" Miroku inquired.
"Feh. The girl's kind of haughty if you ask me."
"Inu-Yasha go follow her." Kagome said. More like a command.
"What? Are you crazy?! I'm not following that wench. She's rude enough as it is."
"Don't make me say it."
"huh?"
"You have until the count of three"
"You wouldn't!"
"one..."
"uh"
"two..."
"No! Wait I'll go!" Inu-Yasha then dashed off into the forest following the girl's smell. He had to find to her bring her back or else boy would he get it.
* * * * *
Kyaru heard the two talking. That girl wanted her pendant and she was getting this 'dog-boy' to get it. 'The guy's probably five times stronger than me!' So Kyaru decided to run. She ran deep into the forest and when she finally stopped. She could hear the 'dog-boy' running after her so she ran in another direction and zig-zagged across the forest. Snapping twigs and crunching dead leaves and splashing through some puddles. When she was so tired and she felt her lungs would burst she collapsed on the forest floor. Her breath was slow, deep and ragged. 'Boy don't I sound wonderful!' she thought sarcastically. She wanted to leave this place. It was pretty cold now that evening was around the corner. She was pretty hungry too. And what was with the people she just met? She needed to be alone for awhile. Usually when she felt sad she'd call her dad. For reasons unknown Kyaru started to cry.
