Author's Notes-This poem was originally given to me as a challenge by a fellow fan fiction writer and reader. The challenge was to write something from the point of view of a middle-to-high ranking officer under one of the Warlords. This poem is a product of that challenge, and the unnamed officer who is giving his thoughts once served under the Warlord of Illusion.

Who's Crying Now
Isabel Night

There has always been a mystery-
My commandant, winter, and fall
Three humans who swore their allegiance to a demon-
If not emotionally-
Then as physical dolls

There used to be a grander general
Now Enma judges his soul
Will his sentence be lenient-?
Or will it be harsh-?
Is that questioning something I should know?

I often watched my senior officer-
He had a good thing-
But did it also made him sad?
My commanding officer who puzzled opponents-
Could not detach himself from a bond he once had

I was hidden within the throne room-
The day my chief officer received the news
He did not deserve to be hurt as he did
What does it feel like-?
To be manipulated, lied to, and used?

The Ogre should have been punished for his betrayal-
However, the summer warrior saw it another way
Enraged, hurt, and crying for blood-
He vowed to return with spring that day

I should have been more forceful with my objections-
Yet the spider went his own way
And when the report had been confirmed-
Should the illusion master have walked away?

I have asked myself that question-
Only to come to this conclusion and say
When a brotherhood endures the test of time-
You cannot abandon it-
For your heart and mind will only exist-
While true life has faded away

THE END

End Notes-Enma, in Japanese Buddhism, is the god who judges the soul of the deceased person when he or she arrives in the underworld. After his judgment, souls are then sent to the appropriate place for punishment or reward. The "grander general" is a direct reference to Anubis.
