Reassurance

Summary: Valera likes Horatio and when Calleigh tells him so, he reassures her he only has eyes for her. HoratioCalleigh.

A.N.: I have nothing against Valera. But who am I to stop the plot bunny that may or may not rid me of the pesky condition known as 'Writer's Block'. Not me! MY FIRST TRUE CSI: MIAMI FIC :squee:

"The DNA tells us that your suspect killed the victim. Case closed," Valera concluded, clapping her hands in triumph at having solved another case for the CSI's.

"Thank you Valera," Horatio said, looking at the results in his hand and starting to leave.

"It's no problem. All in a day's work."

Horatio stopped at the door and turned back to the female tech, "Why don't you go home for the rest of shift? You've been working way too much these last few days. I'll call in the night shift tech."

Valera smiled brightly at him. "Seriously?" Horatio nodded. "Thank you Lieutenant." She shrugged off her lab coat and left the room, bouncing on the balls of her feet.

Horatio was stopped from leaving the lab by Calleigh, who seemed to magically appear in front of him. "Hey honey, we have a suspect to arrest." He handed her the results before walking around her and towards the lift, dialling Yelina from his cell phone as he walked.

Speeding to catch up with him, Calleigh put her hand on his elbow to stop him. "She likes you, you know?" He stared at her blankly. Calleigh rolled her eyes, knowing she'd have to spell it out for him. After all, they didn't have it easy when they started going out.

They stood waiting outside the lift. Horatio pressed 'down'.

"Valera. She likes you." The minute Horatio heard Calleigh utter 'she likes you', he spun to face her.

"Don't be silly," he replied quickly, running the back of his fingers down Calleigh cheek, softly.

"Bye Lieutenant." It was Valera again. She had her jacket wrapped around her arms and was smiling at him. He saw it now. He gasped quietly so only Calleigh heard. "Calleigh," Valera spat out, walking straight past them to the stair-well, before walking out of view.

Calleigh smiled as Horatio's eyes clouded in realisation. "See?"

"Oh my god." Horatio ran a hand over his face and shook the shock away. "Oh well, I can't let that stop me from doing my job." He put his arm around Calleigh's waist.. "Besides, there's only one woman on my mind."

She looked a little sceptical.

When the lift opened, Horatio led them both in. He pressed Calleigh up against the corner of the lift and pressed the 'down' button, letting it drop between floors before hitting the emergency stop. He nuzzled Calleigh's neck before placing feather-light kisses to the skin. Calleigh sighed contentedly when he nipped at her skin and pressed his thigh between her legs.

In this state of ecstasy, Horatio was more than aware that the security cameras were catching his every move and stopped what he was doing before it could go any further.

He pulled Calleigh away from the walls of the lift and straightened her blouse before planting a long, soft kiss on her lips.

"Does that reassure you enough?" he asked, voice husky.

Calleigh, having been rendered speechless, just nodded before running her fingers over her lips.

The lift pinged open a few moments after Horatio pushed the emergency stop button again.

"Come on; let's go catch a bad guy."
