OTHER NOTE: For those of you reading "I Love Her Amber Eyes", I'm taking a little break from that, since I'm currently facing HUGE Writers-block. If anyone can give me ideas though, I'll be sure to use as many as I can. Anyway, on with the story
LETTING GO

It was raining again. It seemed to be only fitting. Rain was one of the few things that could help him get over a bad situation. Sometimes he wished it would rain more often. Maybe then he would be dead, after all, it was his subordinate who pointed out his Flame alchemy didn't work lest his gloves get wet. His subordinate...Riza put herself in danger for him everyday, and yet there was nothing he could do to help clear away her pain...If only it were easy to read a woman. He looked toward Glacier and Elysia. Those were the sweetest people you could ever have the chance to meet, and dear Elysia was still young yet, she didn't understand.
Glacier turned and started to walk away, Schezka following beside, with Elysia following beside her. Roy made his way over and gently placed his hand on Glacier's shoulder, looking down at Elysia. She looked up at him, and smiled a bit recognizing him as her daddy's friend, and hugged him.
"I know I'm not Maes," he said as if she expected him to appear again. As if it was an accident. "But should you ever need anything, my arms are open. After all, Maes was a brother to me, and I'm sure he would want someone to take care of you two." He bent down and picked up Elysia, holding her in his arm a moment, and then handing her to Glacier.
"Thank you Roy, I'm sure Maes would love to know your being kind." Schezka patted Elysia's back slightly when the little girl began to cry. Glacier handed Elysia to Schezka, and hugged Roy. He stood baffled for a moment, and then returned the hug.
As he looked up, he could have sworn he saw Maes. He shook it off and remembered what Maes had always told him when he got that bad feeling. "If anything should happen, it falls on you to take care of them." And so, he would. For Maes. Riza stood behind Roy, but said nothing, smiling as if she was aware that he was doing it for Maes. She then laid a flower on the grave, saluted to him, and left.

TRIBUTE: Maes Hughes; Brigadier General Hughes, was a loving father, son, husband, co-worker, and friend. It's only fitting that he gets what he deserves, and his death is not taken in vain. Maes was only the most loving, and care-free man you could meet, but when duty called, he was serious as ever. I would like to think that he smiles upon each battle that is encountered, and helps a lot of people through the day. Even when it involves a "Few" pictures. Maes Hughes, you were the greatest! Rest in Peace.

Ok, so it's a little long for a drabble. So sue me. It's my first time doing this. It's a conversation I had with a friend before I left, only tweaked a bit to fit the scenario. One of my friends had said something to me "Don't forget, that I'll always be keeping my eye on you, and watching you from afar." This is what inspired me to write this. I haven't done anything for Hughes yet, and he deserves it. So here's to you, Maes Hughes!
